unknown notification sound - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I am having a notification sound from time to time, without any of kind understanding where it comes from. Any idea of how can i discovery the origin of it?
Many thanks...

I have same notification sound on ARHD 12.2 and when the screen was on i saw that it's a hot battery warning. I don't know why that happens because battery is not hot. Interesting is that notification dissappear from the statusbar 1-2 seconds after.

Could it be the 'Data Roaming Sound' ?

Do you have Gsam battery monitor installed?

Yes i have, why? Does gsam battery generate notifications sounds, without warnings?

Do you have the Yahoo Mail app? check that, I had an unknown notification sound before and found that sound came from that app despite setting it to no notifications

Ok, guys. Good news.
I found "my" culprit... GSam Battery Monitor Pro. I heard the notification sound. Check notification history app. It was the gsam monitor pro. Warning - hot battery (29,6º). So it was Gsam battery monitor all along...
I turned off the alarms on the gsam battery now, and will see if it stops... I think that it's a bug of the app on the last update (5th august). 29,6'C it's not a hot battery i think...
In the future i can also disable notifications for this app on settings->apps. Let's wait and see...

neverthless that bug, do you receive just the sound?
A notification should always have some visual indication and not just the sound, because you are not sure what causes that...

NoLED and menu buttons

Does anyone know how to make the lower buttons, back, menu, search, and home buttons not light up when I receive a message our missed call while using the NoLED app?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I don't believe there is that option within the NoLED app. The BLN has to be built into the Kernel I believe.... I'm sure there will soon enough be a supporting Kernel for this as there is much support for the Galaxy series phones and this sort of thing. As I am not a dev I have no idea how easy/hard it would be but I cant wait
The op was trying to turn the lights off not on. As far as I know it just needs to be updated for gingerbread/ns so that the bottom lights don't turn on. You can follow the original app thread here. It looks like the dev won't be working on it til after the holidays.
Why not to use the flash led as in the desire?

As in the camera flash? Well if your phone is laying on it, that probably doesn't work too well
Plus that LED is bright. Not sure what it's power requirements are compared to using NoLED.

That's what Back Light Notification (BLN) is and it needs a supporting kernel to be ported over.
Didn't want to start a whole new thread just to ask a question, but for whatever reason, NoLED doesn't work for me. I'm on Android 2.3.1 running stock (not LP or AWD). I've read the FAQ and I believe I have everything set up correctly. I call myself and miss it and I've emailed myself (different accounts) to test it, but I don't get anything on my black screen.
SOS?

did you use the widget to turn it on or restart the phone? personally i don't like it, i had my phone fully charged and had about 4 notifications bouncing around, not sure if thats a lot but it drained my battery to 16% in about 3 hours.

Yeah my battery also feels like it's draining quickly put I never thought our was because if this, since they say it's good for these types of screens, but note I'm thinking it may be this app. What other alternatives exist to get some sort if notifications for the nexus s?

I honestly doubt its the app. Blacks on SAMOLED consume nearly 0 power.
Check your apps power consumption under Menu > Settings > About Phone > Battery Use.

My phone says 53% display. It can't ber because I haven't even used my phone the whole day, yet I know I had some notifications with noled.

Display will always be the highest under almost every circumstance, regardless if you had the app or not.
If anything is higher than display, I'd be super concerned.

I use noled on my Nexus S and it works fine for all notifications except twitter for some reason,no noticeable drain on battery with this app!

Yes to both. I have the widget set to "on," restarted my phone, and before, made sure all the settings were correct.
Still, nothing shows up after sending myself emails and giving myself calls (didnt' pick up, of course).
Doesn't seem to work; I'm running 2.3.1 with stock launcher.
Just read the FAQ. It's the "No Lock" app that's preventing NoLED from functioning. That's a shame because sometimes when I'm at home, I dislike having to swipe or enter my pattern key to unlock the phone.
NoLED works fine now. Thanks y'all.
NoLED keeps force-closing on me! So annoying. Anything else similar that works entirely on NS?

I'm finding I don't really need NoLED. I prefer having No Lock capabilities. Oh well.

facebook notifications not working

Are they working for you? I have got facebook on my xperia z and it all works fine.
No, the don't seem to be coming through for me either. Which is generally annoying. There must be something that can be done. Had a similar problem with my Sensation.

Not sure if there is an issue with FB Sync - im not getting anything through on my galaxy at the moment!
Seems to be working fine for me... Just got a notification for a comment on one of my statuses

I should have explained better, in my case, I do seem to receive notifications, but eventually. They dont seem to be pushed properly. I can tell this because I'll have no notifications at the top, but when I open the facebook app, there are a couple of notifications present. Not the end of the world, but would be interesting to know why
Well yeah. There's no notifications in the notification bar. Annoying to open facebook app to check if you have or haven't got a new message.

Yes, but I was just trying to explain that notifications come eventually, which is different to never at all. Subtle difference but just wondering if that applied to others too.

Yes I am, come to think of it is was around that time it cropped up. It's so annoying and unnecessary, as along with the headphone icon and again unnecessary beats icon, most of the notification bar is taken up...

Ah but that removes the other icon needed to load the player when I use it in background mode to listen to podcasts and play lists. It just seems silly that there are two icons when only one is needed and it only came about after android 4.3 update
This is driving me crazy. Started after 4.3 upgrade. Still happens on 4.4.2 kitkat

Love what the app can do but the layout really sucks.
Yeap by switching on block app notifications in sound and notifications- app notifications.

OMG they messed up the alarm clock.

Just tried to set my alarm clock for the next two hours or so, noting. It keeps pushing for tomorrow's date and plus on top of that the toast message doesn't appear anymore saying " alarm set for 2.4 hours time" .
Major fail .

Works just fine for me. If your clock is 24h make sure you select the right time and not 12 hours out.

Maybe try to uninstall the Alarm app and reinstall it from Galaxy Apps. If that doesn't work maybe a force stop on the app in the settings?

My guess would be a Gremlin in the system, it happens on all mobiles. Either that or when you changed mobiles you used your old mobile to copy from or the cloud in which case sometimes things do go wrong.
I was told years ago to always start a fresh with each new mobile. I don't I use Samsung sync but there is ALWAYS some sort of minor **** up and its never perfect. :crying:
Like I wrote sometimes its just down to an odd behaviour...Gremlins as I call it.
I hope you got it sorted?

Aren't you missing the notification LED?

Hi,
I'm just missing the notification LED in the X2 Pro, I tried NotifyBuddy, Always On Edge Lightning, flash notifications but they are not working or battery hungry apps.
Aren't you missing the notification LED? If so are you using something?
I use NotifyBuddy and I like it a lot.

I will retest it so and keep updating this thread.
I also tried out the aforementioned apps and stuck with NotifyBuddy, haven't noticed an usually large battery drain at all and it works for eight various messaging apps each day.
Notifybuddy works very well, no battery drain and completely affordable. I have removed battery limits from app settings and has it blocked in background. Really i have no issue with it.

I do try NotifyBuddy but I fell uncomfortable because the fingerprint scanner is not active. Looks like the app overlaying on top of the fingerprint scanner. So I need to wake my phone before I use fingerprint.
Can we enable to make fingerprint active when AOD is displaying?

When you receive a notification you can set double tap to wake, for me is very comfortable, because i have face unlock enabled and that combination works very well.

I seem to find notify buddy works (most of the time).
But according to the battery stats, it's draining the most battery. I'm not sure how accurate it is because it doesn't feel like I'm losing that much battery with it.
Had anyone actually verified the battery drain?
