Hi Guys,
Today Morning By Mistake My Galaxy Note Dropped from My Pocket ! when i saw it I was just screwed ! it got a hairline crack on Screen ! Touch is working fine at the crack area too ! and it's smooth as before! not looks like its cracked while touching...
The Crack/Scratch is not visible when I use phone ! but when someone is sitting near me and looking at phone he can find a big Crack! It looks very big from Side View !
Now I asked Samsung Service Center they are asking $120 to Replace the Touch Screen! and I am not in that good condition to pay this much !
So, My Question is can I use it with cracked screen ? It's just a hairline crack not so big!..
and Will it get cracked more ? If it than How to prevent it from getting more crack ?
Hi,
If still works you can use it. You might consider a screen protection even if I doubt that it will prevent from cracking further. Once you have a crack, it's even more fragile.
Also as far as I know, Samsung will replace touch panel and screen anyway. So even if it gets worse and damages the lcd later on it shouldn't cost you more than what they already quoted. I might however be wrong here so you better get confirmation before running into extra costs afterwards.

Hi, thanks for reply!
I think its cracked from inside! So, will it cause any damage to inner parts too ?

Well, as said, inner parts would be LCD display. So it might be a good idea to check how much Samsung would charge for Touch Panel and LCD replacement. I guess that the price they quoted is LCD and Touch Panel replacement (here in France they always changed both back when I had asked). This will give you a good idea of the financial risk if you continue to use the phone as is.

The panel itself (not the LCD) can be bought for like $30 and you can do it yourself.

I recently broke the gorila glass on my O2x, is there anyone who knows where to pick one up for a cheap price, or knows how replace it? Cheers
I saw a video on YouTube how it was done, if you're handy you can do it yourself. Over here a shop had it for around 50€
http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=Po8hBaZt__o
You have glasses on Ebay, for about 55$.
.... and lcd screens as well. Price is a bargain compared to local finds. Bought one and it runs perfectly!
Just sharing my experiance
Just be Very careful at 1:14. There's a lot of flexible cables around the edges under that cover (and I broke one of them :/ luckily it was for the second camera)
Thanks for the input guys, I might search around for a bargain.

Got mine repaired for 59 € after I sat on a screwdriver with the 2X residing in my backpocket...
that´s from a german ebay-store but you shouldn´t have to pay much more for a replacement "front piece" including LCD, Touch and front cover.
sorry to bring up a dead thread, but would this be fine in i just replace the front piece with the screen?

Yep, assuming that's all that's damaged. If you killed the IPS panel underneath the digitizer, you'll need that too.

That's the lcd screen underneath right? I'm presuming its not damaged due to the screen still producing the correct colour, so that's great.
Well any thank you, its appreciated

Digitizer = the glass touch sensitive bit.
So if you busted that, there will be a big-ass crack in the glass, generally.
I just edited my last post before I realised you replied. & yes unresponsive cracks through the middle.
Cheers anyway.

I guess, you're going to get a little cheaper price at http://www.shopbot.com.au/ps-replacement-touch-screen-digitizer-for-o2-atom-life-20264617.html

First of all hi to everybody.
Been on this forum for months now reading about this great phone samsung galaxy note.
But now i have a issue that i would like to discuss with you because some of you already have or will have this problem with the phone.
So the problem is after 2 months that i had my Note i noticed a slight crack around the display of the phone and today i noticed another one.
I called a official samsung service in my country and asked them how much will it cost to exchange that piece of plastic. And he told me that i have to exchange the whole display and housing! Which is around 200€!
So attached some pictures below.
My question is did somebody tried to change the housing on the Note and is it true that i have to exchange the display also?
Because i found a new housing for the note for only 30$ on ebay and was wondering is it hard to replace it on my own.
My phone did not drop or fell from anywhere since i had it. Only thing is that i wear it in a jacket pocket everyday because it is my business phone.
Appreciate your time.
Watch video's in YouTube om how to relaxen that (Samsung galaxy note dissasembly if I'm right)

Hehe. Yeah watched the video how to dissasemble it. But it is the reassembly that i'm worried about.

I am one with exactly same problem, yesterday only I have noticed similar crack at corner of housing, I guess sammy used really cheap plastic got this crack within 2 months from purchase.
update:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Ho...ain_0&var=&hash=item2a1a72435d#ht_4864wt_1037
this should solve the issue..
Yeah it should but then again....it sucks. So pricey phone and then they use so cheap plastic. Firstly i was dissapointed with the battery cover. I loled when i first removed it.
And now this thin frame cracking.
If u decide to change the housing maybe u can make a tutorial for others to see. Including me.
I would not think twice if i was sure i can take it apart and then put it together back again.

Hi Guys
Today the worst thing happened :-o i dropped my note 2 onto concrete.. luckily it hit the corner and hasnt damaged any of the screen or anything.
Unfortunately the chrome edging is scuffed badly on the corner, i know it could be replaced on the original note is this still the case on the note 2?
Would a samsung service centre be able to do it?
Thanks

Of course, but they'll charge you a pretty penny! But you won't be voiding your warranty, though. So that's the plus side of going to their service centers.
Wow..i feel u pain..could share some photo maybe?

The bezel is attached to the back housing and should not be too expensive to replace. 20 bucks on eBay.
I got quoted 130 when I called the service centre.. Mmm maybe they misunderstood

That's probably right from Samsung. Skilled labor costs a lot

Chrome edging?
So sad to hear.... I am not sure if it can be replaced like note 1 or not.... but incase if its not... then buy yourself Aluminium bumber for Note 2 on ebay.com. I am sure it will add a good look and will cover the ugly dent as well.

I bought this little guy from my friend for $20 after he decided to scrap it in favor of a brand spanking-new Nexus 4. We both have Nexus 4's now and I thought it'd be nice to have a backup smartphone. Boy was I right, this thing is almost as snappy as my Nexus 4 once I got Helly Bean 4.2.2 up and running on it. It'll make a great beater and a decent backup phone, but I was wondering if I should cough up the money to get the screen fixed up. I can't feel any of the cracks when my finger's running through it since the screen protector did a mighty find job of covering the cracks up.
Anyway, I attached a pic of the front screen. Tell me what y'all think!
duuherrooooooo?
(bump)
I wouldn't. As much as I love my I9000 and am completely satisfied with it in every way, I don't think it would be worth the cost. A quick search on eBay has replacement screens at about $70 so it's not totally unreasonable. If touch and display are still totally functional, I say leave it. Not much good having a "beater" phone that you've put a bunch of money into fixing. You'll be more afraid of breaking it than the Nexus 4 Plus it isn't your main phone anyway.
A new s1 costs €115 here, I would just buy a new one.

Thanks for the suggestion. Everything you mentioned sounds just about right except that I can get the glass by itself (meaning without the LCD) for $3.50 on eBay. The dis-assembly procedure seems painstakingly difficult and time consuming though, so I'm still not too sure if it's worth it. :/
So I'll take that as a no?
Just buy an s2 or something, that's my suggestion.
The time and effort spent isn't really worth it at this point

You don't need the lcd, you just need to replace the glass. They can be had for as cheap as 4 bux. The hard part is getting the old glass off. Do a youtube search for ”i9000 glass replacement” to see vids. Its risky cause you can crack the lcd if you go too fast or dont use enough heat.
Ijust finished removing my glass, now just waiting fruit the replacement to arrive. Was not that hard.

Good day.
Does any one experience anything similar? My phone is a few days old, the blue line is on the middle lower edge. In real life sometimes seen even more. It is especially visible on darker backgrounds, locked screen... Do you have any idea, what that would be? Thank you.
Edit: cannot add hyperlink...

Don't have that on mine at all but there were a few other posts mentioning this thing, all of them with the blue line at the bottom. It could be a panel defect or it could be liquid damage seeing that it always appears on the edge close to the usb-c port. Never spray or pour liquids in the usb port of a non-water resistant phone because it most likely will affect the screen edge that's closest to that opening. It looks a bit too clean to be liquid damage so you should definitely try to return it or swap it with another unit, It's not a common fault and will most likely bug the hell out of you.
Thank to you both. It was totally new and sealed, so I think it is more like a factory defect. Returning it will be a hassle, since I bought it from the aliexpress (China to Europe). Will see how will the dispute go.
Thanks again!
This is my post, I had the same when I bought it
https://forum.xda-developers.com/Mi-9/help/stain-screen-t3924188
Fortunately I had less than 15 days of buying it, I open a dispute & after many evidences I had a refund of 10% because I didn't send the phone back & everything works fine. I still having it but it is less noticable and it is only appreciated under the sunlight and with black background.
