Hi guys. At last week I installed a new rom on my phone. Strangely after switching to the mobile Internet i can use it with GPRS only. I can not use 3G or HSDPA, making web pages load a few minutes. Maybe somebody have an idea to solve the problem? I checked a few roms and all the same. Actually I'm using:
[ROM] Virtuous Unity 2.37.0 Sense 3.0 Based on Pyramid
[KERNEL] -=UNITY V9=-[2.6.35.14][OC/UV][CIFS/TUN][SLQB][NOOP][2WCR]
[RADIO] 20.2808.30.085AU_3805.06.03.03_M
Any ideas??
Sorry for my bad English
Try entering apn settings manually. Of that fails switch to a new radio.
Thanks mate for quick response. Changing the settings did not help(I'm an O2 UK Pay monthly customer and I used these settingshttp://mobilereviews.o2.co.uk/devices/device.jsp?deviceId=651&tab=8), the radio also changed (I checked a few) and gave it the same effect: GPRS only ;-(. It seems that I have the same problem as Scoobysnack in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1276023. Please help us.
Have you tried choosing the network mode?
Sometimes 3g would with with WCDMA option only.
try this in place of WCDMA/GSM auto or GSM only.
you could also try deleting all the APNs and re-entering them again just in case.
working absolutely fine for me on VU 2.37 with the stock radio & unity v9 kernel

Cos the page you linked is for the Desire.
Quite certain the settings should be the same for either, but you could check on that as well
I think in this case we'll wait for scoob IM sure hes fixed this problem and he's on quite regularily. IM not sure if your describing a pay add you go plan but if you are you generally have to add mobile data to your account but yeah as mentioned above there is a setting for 3g data in your wireless and networks settings

Of course I tried this and if I'm selecting WCDMA then I got a "no network" message. When choosing the GSM mode, I can make a calls only. When I select a GSM / WCDMA auto mode I can make a calls and i have mobile internet (GPRS only).

It's 100% activated, because it was working perfectly on a stock rom, and when I'm coming back to the stock rom it is working again and I have a hspa notification I bought this mobile few months ago. SIM Card is also brand new because They replace it in O2 point (as a faulty SIM Card) for me and on a stock rom it is also working perfectly. I don't have any idea

Check the apn settings on stock ROM and try those on custom ROM.
Did you try choosing wcdma preferred?
Try deleting the apn and reset to default ,then set it again.

I try it already and it is also not working. Even I try to set APN from diferrent network and then back to proper settings. Didn't help
i had this problem but also couldn't call. I ended up returning it and getting a new one (phone was 1 days old)
I looked back in the forum a couple weeks for similar threads but couldn't find one that was just like this issue.
On the stock ROM that came with the phone and with the d3rpOne ROM (Android 4.1.2, HTC Sense 5) I can get LTE working fine. I don't think it even really requires any airplane/network mode toggling.
This morning I tried Beanstalk (Android 4.3, CM 10.2) and two different releases of another CM ROM (Android 4.3, CM 10.2 and Android 4.2.2, CM 10.1).
The general instructions with those ROMs were just to toggle the network mode between LTE/CDMA and CDMA only, or to toggle airplane mode. Neither worked.
So how can I fix this? I don't really like Sense-based ROMs, but I definitely don't want to be without a good data signal.
Having the same problem. With the stock ROM, I get 4G. On CM 10.1.3, I can get 3G after toggling the network mode, but I can't get 4G.
LTE works for me using beanstalk with out doing anything special
Yeah, I got the impression that was the norm with most people. I might not have read the full thread, but I did read the first and last few pages and it seemed like everyone got 4G working at some point.
Glad I'm not the only one with this issue, though!
Bump for a new week.

The APN will change back occasionally so you need to just select lte internet again.

That sounds like a good solution, but it's still not doing it for me.
I went to APNs and selected "Sprint LTE Internet". That alone didn't do it. I toggled airplane mode, toggled my network mode, still nothing. I tried both Global and CDMA+LTE/EvDo. I gave it a few minutes for each one and still nothing. Rebooting didn't do it either.
Is there something I'm missing? How do my screenshots look? I read that someone wasn't getting an LTE indicator when they followed these steps, so just to confirm I tried to use my browser. I couldn't connect, so it's not just a matter of the signal icon being inaccurate.
I'm still seeing the same symptoms as Roboslim. Tried the same things, got the same results.
I finally got around to flashing a new radio. Could that make a difference?

When you flash the radio are you adjusting the frequency or band? Sprint uses LTE 1900 are you/can you change that? Trying to find ways to benefit an unlocked phone and take it to another carrier as Sprint sux so bad and has no 4g in my area?

I'm not very experienced beyond flashing self-contained ROMs, so I just got a ZIP someone posted in the Sprint HTC One boards and flashed that without any modifications. It didn't break anything when I went back to a Sense-based ROM, so I'm assuming it's alright.
As for unlocking and leaving Sprint... I'm actually with Credo, who uses Sprint towers. I like them, plus I just started my contract, so I personally won't be leaving anytime soon.
One last bump, I guess.
I suppose if it comes down to it, I can deal with Sense. The system settings really are way too simplistic, but with Widget Locker and a custom launcher it's something I can live with.
Alright one MORE bump. I'm getting the CM itch again. I just gave the MoKee opensource ROM a try and am having the same issue as ever.
Are there any other possibilities out there?
Flash the latest nightly. It should work fine. Worst case do a reboot after a fresh flash when the new ROM is fully booted.
Also try installing the most current firmware.
Make sure you are set for CDMA+LTE/EVDO and also try "home only" with a stock PRL before straying from default.

I have been flashing the latest releases for multiple ROMs and have had the same issue with all of them. I've tried reboots each time too.
Now, I might need some education on the rest of that post. Where can I get the latest firmware? Would that be an official Sprint/HTC thing?
I've messed with a lot of different combinations of settings after flashing these ROMs. I've done CDMA+LTE/EVDO and I'm pretty sure I've done "home only" (would the other option be "automatic"?). As for the PRL, would updating it from the system settings give me a stock PRL?

There is a firmware thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2406330
Download the latest version and flash in CWM or TWRP.
The radios are the firmware images.
Changing the PRL can only be done in stock ROM, or by using QPST. The stock rom is by far the easiest if you have your MSL. Sprint should give you your MSL once you give tech support a call. If they don't then call back and get another tech. (I have never had a problem).
I would recommend using the latest stock PRL. I have noticed that if I try to roam on 3g there is a problem getting data (verizon towers IIRC). I believe that is because it is using EVDO vice eHRPD for 3g. What the difference is?? Well I don't know?
I do know that evdo and 1x still have ongoing issues. So I usually stick with home only to ensure that I stick with Sprint towers. I believe that this is the issue with me connecting to 3g data to my airave as well.
Could you post a screen shot of your APN settings?
Voice Dialer > Say "open apns" > select the menu that pops up and then screen shot what you see.
Should look like this.

I'll have to re-flash a CM ROM before posting a screenshot, but from what I recall my APN settings looked like your image. I had "Sprint LTE Internet" selected. I'll flash the latest firmware from that thread while I'm at it.
As for the MSL, I'm not getting my service directly through Sprint. Would I get the MSL from my carrier, then, or would I have to get in touch with Sprint somehow? Do you know how that works? Either way, that'll probably take a little more time and waiting around than just flashing some stuff.
Once I get that MSL, what are the steps to set my PRL?
Who is your carrier? Did you buy the Sprint version off contract?

I have a Sprint HTC One M8. I used to use 'Roam Ctl' to force into roaming when inside a building like Target where the signal may be weak, but stronger if you roamed.
I installed it on the new M8 and it doesn't roam. I'm wondering if this is due to the new Tri-Band Spark frequencies and how this phone doesn't support simultaneous voice & data.
Any ideas? Is this a problem with the way this phone is different, or simply an application bug?

This actually didn't work for me. I can enter the code in the dialer to get in to change the PRL, but there are no menu items showing up that let me select roam only. Oh well, it was worth a try. I'm using VenomOneM8 ROM which is probably why it isn't working on my M8.

It's under settings, mobile data, roaming
Yeah it's not showing up for me there.
Under Settings --> Mobile Data I have:
4G Settings
Network Mode
Automatic Connections
then two greyed out options: Access point names & Available GSM networks
I am pretty sure the flash worked properly because if I dial ##3282# as stated in the original thread by another ViperOne user it says "Bad Boyz EPST", and I'm not running anything Bad Boyz.
So I think it's a conflict between running a Bad Boyz Mod on a ViperOne ROM.

Same issue on stock as well. No roaming options where others would see it. Also my M8 can't roam for some odd reason. Keep in mind I'm 100% stock.
Sent from some box in the Bahamas, or Mexico, or wherever that guy with the eye patch took me.
And you tried this mod too? Otherwise it probably isn't a feature in stock. Thus the need for the mod.

This may fix jfltespr on the Sprint network always worked fine with LTE on most ROMs, but not with very many ROMs lately.
It seems that the APN had one slight difference between ROMs that worked with LTE for me (older CM, stock TW, GPE), and ROMs that had no LTE or eventually dropped LTE (CM12.1 based). The bearer was not set to LTE in the APN profile for the ROMs that do not work for me. Changing that quickly fixed the problem (figuring it out took me much longer). I looked around a bunch when I had this issue, and found people with the same issue, but no solutions. So, that's why I post this here now. Here's the How To if needed:
Go to Settings, Mobile Networks, Access Point Names, and Sprint LTE internet.
Scroll down to Bearer and see what it is set to. Mine was Unspecified, and that's what was causing the issue. Set Bearer to LTE
Go back to APNs, and also set Bearer to LTE on Sprint EHRPD internet. I know that's not the normally selected APN, but if you only change Sprint LTE Internet, it seems to automatically change to this EHRPD one, and it still doesn't work.
That's it for now. Enjoy your LTE again on 5.1.1. It seems to be much smoother.
I'm on an LG G3 but this APN/LTE issue seems to be affecting a lot of people on Android 5.1.x. I've been searching for solutions for days. Unfortunately, I have to report that your method did not work for me. With the Bearers changed to LTE I'm not getting any connection at all, but with them Unspecified I'll get a connection for a small time (<1min) after switching preferred network from 3G back to LTE before it drops again and gives me the exclamation point. If I leave it on 3G I have no problems retaining a 3G data connection. Nexus owners appear to be having this issue en masse with their 5.1.0 & 5.1.1 updates from google so it doesn't appear to be a CM issue, though CM had some APN related commits on July 1 that also seemed to cause problems for people and were undone by devs of some CM-based roms.
Yea that's a bummer. Thanks for sharing though. Maybe having it happen to so many people means that it will get fixed sooner than later, but I can only hope. I can only speak for the Sprint version of the S4 running on the Sprint network. It seems that people with this exact phone are okay on other networks.
This fix wasn't 100% for me either. Every once in-a-while, I think mostly in particular locations, it'll get stuck on the exclamation mark, and I'll just have to throw it into airplane mode for a moment.
If you haven't tried yet, make sure to put the bearers to LTE for all APNs that have the same DNS name as the normal one that you use, and the others at their defaults. It's probably not the case, but your results sound similar to mine when I only set one of the APN bearers to LTE. I thought that might be worth a mention, but I'm sure there are deeper problems. Sounds like you probably already did that anyway...
I've been having problems with this too and I tried your method but it didn't help me. It's really frustrating when there's so many great roms that are useless but thanks for trying though. Hopefully it gets resolved soon.
AOSP automatically selects the correct APN as long as the bearer is unspecified. You can hard code the bearer, but then that APN is only valid for that bearer. In other words, setting the eHRPD bearer to LTE will make that APN only valid for situations where the radio is connected to LTE. However, the connection will fail because the APN settings are wrong and the system will automatically move to the next APN with the bearer set to LTE. This time the connection will succeed because the next APN is the LTE APN. If you set the eHRPD bearer to LTE then you will never get a 3g connection.
What exactly are the symptoms you guys are seeing with LTE? My wife and I are both running CM with no connection problems whatsoever.

Hi. I am running CM12.1 and have tried other Lollipop roms. I am using Ting as my provider. I have two issues.
1. I don't get voicemail notifications. I can live with that.
2. Picture messages don't show. Texts come and go with no problem, just not picture (mms) texts.
Would these fixes help my issue? I have had no issues with 3g, which is most of my coverage area. I am usually on wifi anyway.

Cm12.1 ignores the voicemail notification from the carrier. The MMS issue is an incorrect/missing APN. If you can figure out what it should be we can get a patch submitted.

Here is a jfltespr build that fixes Ting data/MMS. I strongly recommend a clean install. If that's not possible, be sure to reset APNs to defaults after you flash and then reboot. It will take a minute or two to get data after the reboot. Please let me know how it goes. If this does fix it, I will submit the patch. If not, I still have some ideas.
Be sure to make a nandroid backup as I couldn't get my wife's S4 to test it with and this was the first time I have built for the S4 on this machine.

This time the connection will succeed because the next APN is the LTE APN. If you set the eHRPD bearer to LTE then you will never get a 3g connection.
What exactly are the symptoms you guys are seeing with LTE? My wife and I are both running CM with no connection problems whatsoever.

I'm running cm12.1 nightlies with Freedompop as my carrier. This fixed my problem immediately.

What fixed your problem? Setting the 3g bearer to LTE? That means the freedompop LTE APN is wrong and should be patched in the code. If we could get more input on this we could fix it for good.
I don't even have anything listed in my APN (I used to). How do I fix that?

Tap airplane mode, then tap again to turn airplane mode off. Then go into your APN menu. Your APN's should appear.
I'm running the latest CM 12.1 nightly. The stock APN's work for me, but I rarely get a LTE connection with them.
I've flashed the APN fix that's floating around, and it worked in older builds of CM 12, but recently the fix just disconnects and leaves me with no signal.
If I do what OP suggests, I'll get an LTE connection, but that leaves me with no 3G where LTE isn't strong.
I guess the problem with CM is that it cannot successfully switch between LTE and 3G correctly.
If you're not all that concerned about getting an LTE connection, I'd recommend just sticking with the stock APN's. Once you start flashing fixes, you're gonna have a problem.
I bought a used XT1806 off someone local. They had AOSP Extended installed and was using it with Verizon. I use T-Mobile and tried to use the ROM with T-Mobile but WiFi calling wouldn't work.
I tried flashing a few ROMs but all the ROMs have the same problem. Under the mobile network settings, I get a "Error while searching for network" popup. It connects to T-Mobile fine but I can't force it to search for networks.
I have my IMEI showing properly, but this error prevents me from checking network settings and causes issues with WiFi calling. My phone will get "kicked" off the network randomly when this happens and I have to reboot the phone in order for it to go back out of emergency calls only mode.
I flashed it back to stock Nougat and everything works as designed, WiFi calling and all, so I'm lost for where to go from here. Does T-Mobile WiFi calling just not work on non-stock right now? On any non-stock ROM I am completely missing the IMS details that show up on stock Nougat, and the network is super flakey.
Go to the play store, find and download the App Hidden Menus from Craig Newell. Open it up and see what hidden Menus it has for your carrier.. Play around in there and see if you can find something of use.. I did with Sprint, but haven't tried it out on any custom roms.

What settings did you find with Sprint? There's nothing useful for me besides the testing menu on stock Nougat and T-Mobile.

I found under *#*#3282#*#*: Data Settings, which include Data Profile, EVDO, Advanced, eHRPD, LTE, Apn setting LTE-Available.
Then under *#*#33284#*#* I found HiddenMenuApp, which includes 1xEngineering EVDO Engineering, LTE Engineering, Configuration, Bluetooth, Data Status, Memory State, eHRPD
These are just a few of which I have found. There are a bunch of stuff under the title SprintDM as well.
I mentioned in a topic I started, that these might be handy for those who try custom rom, and have big issues with Sprint service and data.. This is why I haven't installed any custom roms yet, as I don't have the time, and this is my primary phone, and can't afford for it to go BOOM, when I need it. LOL

Yeah, on stock WiFi calling is working great. Are you running stock or some custom Oreo?
