Just installed this ROM. Looks great. everything works EXCEPT network.
On the lock screen it says : ROAMING - PREFERRED SYSTEM
What should I have the settings under "Mobile Network" set to? Thanks.

What you should be looking at is the thread for the Nocturnal ROM.

Thanks, I found the thread. But I can't post theere. That's where I got the ROM from.
According to the developer and other users, the recently uploaded V3 has fully functioning LTE. But it doesn't work on my phone.

I've seen references to LTE, but given it's still an in-development ROM I'm not surprised it's finicky. Were you sure you were getting LTE beforehand? It's entirely possible that this ROM is also going to handle the 3G/LTE handoff differently and is falling back to another signal type.

Yes, I was getting full 4G LTE service right before flashing this ROM.
I think I am narrowing it down to the setting NV / RUIM/SIM
When it is set to NV, my phone connects to the network but no data.
When it is on RUIM/SIM , I get the roaming message.
Hey everyone I just bought an unlocked HTC One and switched the SIM card from my iPhone 5 into the new phone. I unlocked the bootloader, rooted it, and installed ARHD Sense version and I am having problems with the phone getting LTE. No matter where I am, I am unable to acquire LTE on the phone. Even in places where I know for sure that it has LTE (due to getting it previously on my iPhone) I'm stuck on HSPA+. Anyone have any ideas what the problem might be? Faulty device maybe? Would rather not have to send the phone back. I have tried also changing the APN, which changed nothing.

Do you have LTE turned on? You should be on LTE/GSM/WDCMA under Network Mode in settings. Wording may very depending on your ROM.
Yeah I have Lte enabled, which is why I'm confused as to why lte is not working.

My best guess... Consider calling AT&T and switching off the iPhone data plan to a "smartphone" data plan. I don't know the differences between the 2 but it could be effecting your ability to connect to lte from the one.

Hmm I've been considering it just I have seen other people just pop their iPhone 5 SIM into an unlocked/developer edition HTC One and have full LTE connectivity, and not to mention the fact that dealing with AT&T is a pain.

I know what ya mean... You could also try flashing at&ts latest radio... It probably only really effects AT&T based roms but it's supposed to open up some new lte bands. I used the link from post 95. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2325564&page=10 just make sure you grab the right one installing the one for cm 10 on a sense Rom will mess up your signal strength because it replaces some ril files while flashing the radio. It's a shot in the dark but wont hurt to try.

That actually used to be a really common problem, but they seem to use the same data plans for all smartphones now. Still, might be worth a try.

Thanks will try that out soon. Also, to the person above, tried flashing an AT&T radio, which didn't help anything, but was worth the shot. Thanks for the help guys.
EDIT: So tried out switching it to LTE Only and it wouldn't let the setting stick. It would automatically change the preferred network type back to what it was whenever selecting LTE Only. Also, the LTE, CDMA option did not change anything. Again thanks for the help, I'm just going to send it back and hope for the best with a new device.
I looked back in the forum a couple weeks for similar threads but couldn't find one that was just like this issue.
On the stock ROM that came with the phone and with the d3rpOne ROM (Android 4.1.2, HTC Sense 5) I can get LTE working fine. I don't think it even really requires any airplane/network mode toggling.
This morning I tried Beanstalk (Android 4.3, CM 10.2) and two different releases of another CM ROM (Android 4.3, CM 10.2 and Android 4.2.2, CM 10.1).
The general instructions with those ROMs were just to toggle the network mode between LTE/CDMA and CDMA only, or to toggle airplane mode. Neither worked.
So how can I fix this? I don't really like Sense-based ROMs, but I definitely don't want to be without a good data signal.
Having the same problem. With the stock ROM, I get 4G. On CM 10.1.3, I can get 3G after toggling the network mode, but I can't get 4G.
LTE works for me using beanstalk with out doing anything special
Yeah, I got the impression that was the norm with most people. I might not have read the full thread, but I did read the first and last few pages and it seemed like everyone got 4G working at some point.
Glad I'm not the only one with this issue, though!
Bump for a new week.

That sounds like a good solution, but it's still not doing it for me.
I went to APNs and selected "Sprint LTE Internet". That alone didn't do it. I toggled airplane mode, toggled my network mode, still nothing. I tried both Global and CDMA+LTE/EvDo. I gave it a few minutes for each one and still nothing. Rebooting didn't do it either.
Is there something I'm missing? How do my screenshots look? I read that someone wasn't getting an LTE indicator when they followed these steps, so just to confirm I tried to use my browser. I couldn't connect, so it's not just a matter of the signal icon being inaccurate.
I'm still seeing the same symptoms as Roboslim. Tried the same things, got the same results.
I finally got around to flashing a new radio. Could that make a difference?

When you flash the radio are you adjusting the frequency or band? Sprint uses LTE 1900 are you/can you change that? Trying to find ways to benefit an unlocked phone and take it to another carrier as Sprint sux so bad and has no 4g in my area?

I'm not very experienced beyond flashing self-contained ROMs, so I just got a ZIP someone posted in the Sprint HTC One boards and flashed that without any modifications. It didn't break anything when I went back to a Sense-based ROM, so I'm assuming it's alright.
As for unlocking and leaving Sprint... I'm actually with Credo, who uses Sprint towers. I like them, plus I just started my contract, so I personally won't be leaving anytime soon.
One last bump, I guess.
I suppose if it comes down to it, I can deal with Sense. The system settings really are way too simplistic, but with Widget Locker and a custom launcher it's something I can live with.
Alright one MORE bump. I'm getting the CM itch again. I just gave the MoKee opensource ROM a try and am having the same issue as ever.
Are there any other possibilities out there?
Flash the latest nightly. It should work fine. Worst case do a reboot after a fresh flash when the new ROM is fully booted.
Also try installing the most current firmware.
Make sure you are set for CDMA+LTE/EVDO and also try "home only" with a stock PRL before straying from default.

I have been flashing the latest releases for multiple ROMs and have had the same issue with all of them. I've tried reboots each time too.
Now, I might need some education on the rest of that post. Where can I get the latest firmware? Would that be an official Sprint/HTC thing?
I've messed with a lot of different combinations of settings after flashing these ROMs. I've done CDMA+LTE/EVDO and I'm pretty sure I've done "home only" (would the other option be "automatic"?). As for the PRL, would updating it from the system settings give me a stock PRL?

There is a firmware thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2406330
Download the latest version and flash in CWM or TWRP.
The radios are the firmware images.
Changing the PRL can only be done in stock ROM, or by using QPST. The stock rom is by far the easiest if you have your MSL. Sprint should give you your MSL once you give tech support a call. If they don't then call back and get another tech. (I have never had a problem).
I would recommend using the latest stock PRL. I have noticed that if I try to roam on 3g there is a problem getting data (verizon towers IIRC). I believe that is because it is using EVDO vice eHRPD for 3g. What the difference is?? Well I don't know?
I do know that evdo and 1x still have ongoing issues. So I usually stick with home only to ensure that I stick with Sprint towers. I believe that this is the issue with me connecting to 3g data to my airave as well.
Could you post a screen shot of your APN settings?
Voice Dialer > Say "open apns" > select the menu that pops up and then screen shot what you see.
Should look like this.

I'll have to re-flash a CM ROM before posting a screenshot, but from what I recall my APN settings looked like your image. I had "Sprint LTE Internet" selected. I'll flash the latest firmware from that thread while I'm at it.
As for the MSL, I'm not getting my service directly through Sprint. Would I get the MSL from my carrier, then, or would I have to get in touch with Sprint somehow? Do you know how that works? Either way, that'll probably take a little more time and waiting around than just flashing some stuff.
Once I get that MSL, what are the steps to set my PRL?
Who is your carrier? Did you buy the Sprint version off contract?

I'm getting a chance to do some extended testing with data roaming. I found a couple of other data roaming problem threads, but this issue is different than the problems discussed in those.
The HTC One is rooted, unlocked, S-OFF, stock 4.4.2 (4.06.651.4), with PRL 56018 installed from CDMA Workshop. I've installed a couple of the patches floating around for WiFi tether. I also have an HTC EVO 4G LTE with the 56018 PRL installed via QPST.
Right now, I am in an area with extremely weak Sprint signal and decent Verizon signal. The EVO 4G LTE finds Verizon 3G EVDO and will voice/data roam just fine. SignalCheck verifies that the provider is Verizon for 1x and EVDO, with signal between -90 to -100 dB. However, the One will not data roam. SignalCheck indicates that the One finds Verizon for voice (1X), but does not connect for data roaming. If I watch SignalCheck long enough, I can see that the One will find the Verizon EVDO for a few seconds every five minutes or so, but it won't "hold" the EVDO signal. On Sprint, the ONE will find both 3G and 4G.
I've played around with various mobile data settings, but nothing seems to help. In fact, the One will pop up the messages that data roaming is in effect, but there is no data connection. Since the EVO 4G LTE will EVDO roam, it seems that the One should EVDO roam as well.
Any ideas or suggestions on what to look at? On Sprint the 3G is usually ePHRD, not EVDO, perhaps there is some issue with EVDO on the ONE? I thinking about getting Roam Control to see if that would make any difference. I haven't taken the 4.06.651.9 update either.
Thanks!
I had a chance to do some further data roaming testing with the One and Evo 4G LTE side by side.
Roam Control seems to work fine on the One, except that the color of the blue button for selecting the roaming mode is hard to distinquish.
Unfortunately, it seems that the One will not lock on to a Verizon EVDO signal. I found several areas with strong EVDO signal. The EVO connected just fine, but the One wouldn't. The One does fine with Sprint's eHRPD signal, and will lock on to the Verizon 1xRTT for voice.
I don't know how to do further debugging. I guess it could be a radio problem, an issue with the 56018 PRL and the One, or some other issue.
Any suggestions are welcome!

Providers dont like roaming, the newer the phone is the less likely it will be to roam, the first two M7 radios would not allow any roaming at all on my phone, the latest 2 do allow roaming but I need to force "roam only" with roam control, I am on the latest radio running GPE rom and use roam control to force roaming whenever verizon has a better signal and it works good. I am using PRL 56015 flashed via CDMA workshop.

I loaded PRL 56015 into the One with CDMA Workshop, but the problem remains...when roaming, the One will see the EVDO briefly but not hold it, according to SignalCheck.
I did a comparison between the various settings in the One and the EVO 4G LTE (where roaming works fine) using CDMA WS. The are significant differences, particularly on the CDMA, CDMA-2, and EVDO pages. For example, on the EVDO page, the EVO has a username ([email protected]) for HDR_User_long, but the One doesn't have one. The EVDO revision is also different. I don't know enough to fool with these settings.
Actually, the One is missing values for many settings that the EVO has. I'm beginning to wonder if somehow the One didn't get provisioned properly.
Thanks!

If you change any of them settings in CDMA workshop, save them first, if you screw something up you can reload the saved settings, I screwed with CDMA workshop alot in the past and you can do alot with it. Before screwing with them settings, did you try resetting or updating your data profile?..maybe something got messed up in the tweaking and flashing your doing. I am not on a sense rom right now and I forget the codes, try entering ##3282# or *#*#3282#*#* in your dialer, it should bring up a data menu, there should be an option to do a reset, it will basically erase your data profile and reboot, when it reboots it will do an activation and reset everything....or ##786# will completely reset everything, that has saved me once or twice but that also factory rests your phone. these will only work on a sense rom and I reccoment a backup before doing anything, just in case... if that dont work do a google search for epst codes, and find the one that resets your data profile.

I did a profile reset with ##3282#, and the behavior has changed somewhat. The One is now holding the EVDO signal according to SignalCheck. However, if I try to open a web page, a message box pops up indicating that data roaming needs to be enabled. If I tap on "data roaming" in the message box, it takes me to the mobile data settings. I have been over and over those settings, and tried different combinations of things, but I can't seem to come up with the magic setting that will make the phone think that data roaming is enabled. I am forcing roaming with Roam Control.
Is there some "hidden" setting to enable data roaming? There is a "CDMA Roaming" setting that has choices of Home/Automatic, and I have it set to Automatic. I have identical settings to the Evo in the mobile data settings, but I can't make it work on the One.

What rom are you using?, I think the stock roms from Sprint no longer have the "allow data roaming" option, Sprint tries to avoid us using roaming as much as possible, so if you are on stock rom or something close, you probly don't have this option, try flashing a modified rom that may have this option, or if you are familiar with using the exposed framework, I think there is a module you can use to enable the data roaming. I personally use Gruesomewolf's GPE rom and it has the option built in if you want to try it.

I'm on the stock 4.06.651.4 ROM (rooted and S-OFF). This is my wife's phone, and I'd like to keep it stock and simple, as she's not a techie. However, she also travels where data roaming is required, so I might have to try another ROM.
Interestingly, My EVO 4G LTE doesn't have an "allow data roaming" setting under mobile network settings that I can find, but it roams just fine. In fact, the mobile data settings on the EVO and One are almost identical, except that the One has some additional GMS options. I wonder if there is some setting in a file like build.prop that affects data roaming.
I installed a couple of native hotspot hacks on the One. In looking through the zip files for those hacks to see what they actually did (which was quite minimal), some network-related things were changed in /system/customize/ACC/default.xml relative to the file in the original ROM, and a shell script was added that executes several iptables commands. I may try to manually undo those hacks to see if it has any effect. At this point, we need the data roaming more than the hotspot.

Alot of your issues can be solved with a custom rom, you wouldnt need to install the hotspot hacks either, most have native hotspot built in.

Getting a chance to work on this issue again...it seems that the EV-DO problem with my HTC One is not limited to roaming, but also occurs on the Sprint network.
Again, doing side-by-side comparison between the HTC One and my EVO 4G LTE on Sprint network:
1) Set network mode to LTE/CDMA. According to SignalCheck, both phones will find Sprint LTE and display the 4G indicator in the status bar, and both will occasionally drop back to Sprint eHRPD for periods of 5-10 minutes (displaying the 3G icon in the status bar). Network is available to apps in both the LTE and eHRPD cases. No problems here.
2) Now...change network mode to CDMA Only. According to SignalCheck, the EVO will find Sprint EV-DO, the status indicator will change to 3G, and network is available to apps. However, on the One, SignalCheck indicates that EV-DO is found (but doesn't indicate which carrier), there is no 3G (or 4G) icon in the status bar, and apps report that there is no network. The EV-DO signal is strong for both phones.
So, it seems that on the One, LTE and eHRPD are working, but there is some kind of problem with legacy EV-DO, where the phone can find a signal, but can't complete the process of registering on the network, whether Sprint or roaming.
Do eHRPD and EV-DO use the same radio? Trying to rule out a hardware issue. I am thinking of flashing a different radio firmware. Perhaps something got corrupted when I did the OTA update.
Not that Sprint wouldn't do this, but it would seem odd to put something in the stock ROM that would prevent EV-DO, even on Sprint's network. Is there somebody out there on the stock ROM who could confirm that they can get network in CDMA only mode?
Thanks!
So, I finally got this problem solved! I had to do a ##786# "hard reset". After the reset, EV-DO works fine.
The reset process was interesting. I did backups, expecting the phone to be wiped. I entered ##786# and the phone said it was preparing, and then rebooted. But it rebooted into recovery (I have TWRP). Not being exactly sure what to do, I rebooted into the system. The phone booted up, and the provisioning process started and completed. It then fetched the PRL. But nothing was wiped out. Apps, data, and sdcard were all intact. Oh, well, no complaints, and everything seems to be working fine. I used CDMA workshop to put PRL 56018 back, and roaming seems to be working.

I know you got your issue fixed and its been a while but just a heads up in case you run into problems again, I got a replacement phone from sprint and had the exact same issues youe were having, It is a problem with the data profile not being configured correctly, in my case, the new phone did not have my user name correct, worked fine on sprint network for some reason, but I couldnt get 3g in roaming areas, using epst I put my correct user name in and everything worked perfectly...dont know what rom your running now either but NUISENSE is awesome with this phone and it has "roam only" opttion built in, no need for roam control app....
Thanks for the tip!
I'm using the stock ROM. Since my last post, I have been able to test romaing, as we've traveled off the Sprint network, and roaming 3G worked fine. The only issue was that in a one spot we were roaming on a regional carrier, and the phone had locked on a quite distant tower according to SignalCheck, instead of Verizion which had closer towers. This resulted in some loss of 3G just as we were trying to get radar data for a storm we were traveling through (bad timing). But that is most likely a PRL issue. In looking though some PRL analyis an earlier version of 56xxx on another site, Sprint apparently doesn't have roaming agreement in this particular area with Verizon. I wish I new more about PRL editing so I could fix that...
My stock One won't find 4G, even when it's right next to my wife's One that's connected to 4G. I've even tried changing the preferred network to LTE only through the 4636 menu and it still doesn't find 4G, or even act like it's attempting to find it.
I haven't tried a factory reset yet, as I was hoping for a better solution first. Any help would be greatly appreciated (not that I have 4G at home yet, or even decent 3G for that matter)

What's your carrier and have you checked if the frequencies matched?

carrier is Sprint, so the frequencies should certainly match.
I'm on the most recent update(5.03.651.3), with PRL 55019 if that makes a difference.

Try going into *#*#4636#*#* and changing the setting to LTE only. That might help. Otherwise I don't know :/.. something might be wrong with your APN settings? Though I doubt it.

I have tried that, and it doesn't find 4G at all. Doesn't really seem like it's even looking for it.

Have you checked your APN settings? Try upgrading your radio, and different apn settings. Other than that, Idk.

The apn settings option is greyed out, can't do anything with it

install an app called APN Shortcut, then you can access apn's
also you can try ##72786#, to reset your network to defaults.
My phone won't connect to LTE since the last update pushed to it. When it do it's a very weak signal and won't open anything and switch to 3G. Never had an issue connecting till i updated so i think the latest radio just suck at 4G which is not a good thing as it wasn't too great to begin with when i first got it.

Check the uicc id (the id of the SIM card) on the phone and see if it matches what sprint has listed for it on their website. If it doesn't match, that's the problem and you'll have to call sprint and have them change it to what your phone is. Hopefully that is all that's wrong. Good luck. [emoji106]

that makes sense. However, how do I check it on sprint's website?
Go to activate a device on the sprint website and pretend like your going to swap your phone. Select the phone with the problem and then on the next page it will list your id for that phone.

Awesome, it was definitely wrong, and I got them to change it. Hopefully that fixes the problem. Not that I'll be able to test it until Friday since the network in my area SUCKS lol. Thanks for your help!
Could someone link me to the thread which has the latest radios? I'm having this same issue and can only find M8 radios (I'm M7).
