Use this app for Active Notifications, Check this Video for Active Voice..
It's probably possible but
1. N7 doesn't have the dedicated core to listening for a key term
2. It doesn't have an AMOLED display.
Which means, if someone gets it functioning here, don't expect good battery life.

I did some research and found that if you use the Tasker app along with the AutoVoice app you can create a continuouse recognise task and create a phrase that triggers tasker to execute a task you have pre-selected. A good feature is that the app is listening for that phrase even when the screen is turned off. That is very similar to the Moto X.
Obviously this will use more battery that the Moto X because the Moto X has a CPU Core dedicated to language recognition, etc.
There is also a youtube video demonstrating the use of these apps

Hope this helped

Hi all.
I have a Dual brand receiver in my car, and one thing it did with my old blackberry and even droid 2 was when I pressed the talk button for the radio, it launched the voice commands on my phone. That seemed to go away with the droid 3. Not sure if it was a moto thing or gingerbread thing.
My question is, does anyone know of a script or app to kind of get this functionality back? Kinda defeats the purpose of hands free if I have to grab the phone when driving.

Ok let me ask this...
How do I programmatically look for a keypress from a bt device?
Is there some code I can run as a script to return the keypress I am looking for. If so I can then just do a listener script that waits for an on press event for that key and just have it launch voice search.

So I got a key event app that shows button presses and low and behold, the one butto in the car makes no impact on the droid 3. So I wonder what made the other phones, noteably the berry, listen for it?
Is there something I can do to open up the range of bluetooth, e.g. via the stacks sdk?
I really would like this functionality back tbh.
Can any devs weigh in?

Whether it is the best or not I use NFC Task Launcher (on the Google play store). Has a wide array of tasks and can also use any of your Tasker tasks as well.

I'm thinking of getting a moto x on Monday to replace my aging galaxy nexus on Verizon (and still keep my unlimited data for a while longer). Can someone describe how features like active notifications and the always on hotword detection work when using pattern/pin lock? Can you still view the active notifications and just enter your pattern/pin when swiping to go directly to the notification? Thanks.

Yes on the active notifications bit. They work like normal but still require a pattern after you swipe. I have barely used the hotword, but it does seem to work just fine.

When using the pin/password lock, accessing the touchless control is still available but to get the results, you have unlock the device.

Just curious, I'm looking all over for an app that will read my texts to me while I'm driving and allow me to respond via voice. I see there are tons that send automated messages that I'm driving, but none that will actually read the message and allow me to respond without picking up my phone and looking away from the road. Coming from windows phone to nexus family, this is the only drawback i could find. Any suggestions?
If there's already a post with this can someone send me a link please.

Agent do not disturb. Been using it since I switched from moto x to nexus 6. It needs to be configured initially but works great. Even has a widget to manually turn on so you can use it while not driving.
Thanks, gonna try agent for a few days, as it's free and I don't need everything that's on enhanced.

You can use tasker and the auto voice plugin to perform this and much more! Tasker is a full automation app that has endless possibilities
Franco has a display control for the nexus that I have used twice. N4 and n5. I was a huge fan of the app. It had gamma control and presets. Unfortunately the n6 isn't listed as a supported device. Does anybody know of of any good mods or apps for this? Throw in your fav mods screen or not screen related. I'm trying to spruce this baby up. PS. The display is awesome as is but I'm trying to max out.

I know. I should read through the forum. I did. I don't see anything that answers my specific question. Maybe I missed it.

Franco udater app has screen control and works fine with the n6. It has preloaded settings also to try.
