Good afternoon XDA!
Having received my N7 yesterday, I didn't get to play with it too much until later on at night. One of the first things I noticed was that the Facebook app on the device is missing many of the main features. I'm not sure if it's a JellyBean issue (as my Galaxy Nexus is CDMA and I haven't modded it to JB yet) or a N7 issue, but there's no way to see someone's Pictures, Info, or Favorites. What I mean is that if you go to someone's profile the only thing visible is their Wall. There's no way to go into the other sections of someone's profile. The only way to see their pictures is if they post them on their walls.
Anyone else notice this? For those that have, if you also have JellyBean on another device does it do it there, as well? I just have no way of knowing if this is a JB issue or a device-specific issue. I can't seem to find any other complaints, which I'm a bit confused by...I understand that this device is extremely new, but a *vast* majority of Android users also spend quite a bit of time on Facebook, so I'd be surprised if nobody had run into this issue before me (or at least made comments on it).
Post thoughts and maybe we can narrow it down!
I'm seeing the same issue. I've heard good things about Friendcaster as a superior replacement so I'd try that.
Friendcaster is a good alternative and in many ways superior to the Facebook app - you can have multiple log ins/accounts and much more responsive than facebook

I have both the Galaxy Nexus on JB and the N7, I can definitely confirm that the FB app is lacking on the N7 especially when going into peoples profiles. However on the Galaxy Nexus it has every single feature that it had on GB and ICS. No idea what the deal is with the N7 version of the app.
Facebook app isn't set up for tablets on JB as far as I'm aware. Give them a bit to update the app and we will see.
No your wrong, its not the fact its a tablet on jelly bean, its the fact its a tablet.
My transformer prime has the exact same problem and its on ics

Early day's? The problems been there Fot every android tablet, facebook app sucks ass and they don't seem to care. Friendcaster whilst not being as pretty gives tonnes more functionality

Friendcaster is light years ahead of FB app. Try it for free then get the ad free version. You'll thank me.

Just my 2 cents, but FB apps in general on all devices are poorly optimized. One of the few things i'd rather view with a browser.
FB for Phone on Tablet
Is there a way to install the FB app that runs on smartphones on the N7?

That's what you have installed. The app adjusts itself based on being on a tablet or phone.

You can't interact with people that disable third party access on FB when using Friend caster. Just a heads up.

Is there any difference between the Pro version and the Free, other than ads? $5 is not worth it for me for ads...
The Facebook app is terribad on every platform, and every form factor. Just don't bother using it.

there isnt one. widgets will be like before, a long press on the home screen brings up a menu where you can chose widgets.
I'm excited, I'll be getting it at launch.
It's a very well designed device from the looks of it.
As for the video, I wish he would've shown more of what's new in 4.4.
I know what YouTube, earth, chrome, calendar, the play store and keep look like...
I would've liked to have seen more of the new launcher and how widgets are added, the new way search is handled, etc.

I think this is an earlier build of kitkat, it has the old youtube and the version number says KeyLimePie. The screenshots that were leaked seem to show the more updated version.
Edit - as said in video description

I'm not too happy with this if that is the case. Hangouts has far to many hiccups and slowdowns to be my sole messaging app.

ill be honest with you, i feel the same way about hangouts. ive been replacing hangouts with gtalk until about a month ago, for that exact reason. hangouts did slightly improve, thats why im using it now, but it is not the best app. oddly, it runs quick without issues on my nexus 7, and on my friends note 2. but on the n4, it has issues. hopefully its update will correct that for the n4, and hopefully it runs as perfect on the n5 as it does on my n7.

I am pretty sure that Google has smoothened out the hiccups you speak of. I for one think that the Hangouts and SMS merge is a smart one. I bet users who has never used Hangout will now get familiar with it.

I personally love hangouts it's clean and simple

I just hope they give some options to hide groups of people and separate sms chats from hangouts. I don't need everyone from Google+ showing up. Most I don't talk to, but like to follow for news ect.

sadly it looks like this confirms that the battery is not removeable. that blows! thats actually a deal breaker for me i think.
I dont like this phone's design. I love Nexus 4's design .
If nexus 5's battery is 3000 mah, then I can Buy a nexus 5.

Wondered if anyone else has problems getting some of the tasked stuff to work with lolipop. I personally can't get secure settings plugin to work now with the pattern lock disable and re enable. any ideas?
Same issue. It'll "fix" itself to the correct seeing after a reboot. Haven't worked on it to figure out why though.

Found this... Hasn't helped me yet but perhaps it'll work for you?

I appreciate it but I think I will wait on a legit fix from the devs. I guess that's the price you pay when you have the newest of the new.

No worries. It seems like the device admin isn't sticking (as mentioned in one of the links) When I toggle it then it toggles the pin. Until it's officially fixed I've resorted to using location trusted places (hope they do a Wi-Fi trusted location soon).
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
I actually removed some of the deeper system level tasks I've been using with securesettings in the past on my N6. I assumed many of them wouldn't work with the new OS and didn't feel like mucking around with them. If possible, the devs will figure it out eventually.
Thread revival!
Hey guys, I'm looking into buying a Nexus 6 and I was wondering if all of the tasker problems have been resolved by now?

I've not had any tasker issues at all, and I am very profile heavy.

Awesome. Thanks for the quick reply!
Anybody know why Tasker can't turn on WIFI tether through either the system or secure settings? I've tried this now on three different ROMs.
So I found a workaround---- visit the Tasker Groups at this post here.
Question what is a good alternative to add customizations to my ROM. I use to use exposed but don't think it works on the nexus6. If I am wrong about exposed working please let me know if there is a special way to install it.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
exposed does not work on art, period. android 5.0 brings art to our devices, by default. whatever modifications you would like to make to your nexus 6 has to be a "real" modification that you can do to n6.
Well for starters I want to add the exchange block. Led notification and others. Is there a program like xposed with a repository of mods like xposed?
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
The LED mod can be added with a kernel along with DT2W, you can also use lightflow free to enable the LEDS using mixer mode to set notification lights e.c.t
Check the lighg flow instructions in its thread or one of the many how to guids online.

Or is it just me, or am I dumb and only started using Messaging vs. Hangouts recently?

Maybe he's in Nevada. Area 51.
I want to say it only started happening a few days ago, but I think it was before I upgraded to 5.1.1. Definitely never happened with Hangouts, and it's only happened with Messaging. Sometimes it'll be small and in the corner, sometimes big and centered, but I believe it always pulses. I don't have any crazy apps, haven't even rooted since going to 5.1.1 yet. Have been using Nova for a while, shouldn't be that. I'm just perplexed. I like it though, but it's not consistent.

Are you using some sort of notification app or lockscreen replacement? NoLED, ACDisplay, Dynamic Notifications or something along those lines?

Eureka!
So I decided to take a look and see what all I had installed (I lose track sometimes) and I got to Edge Color Notifications (mimics Galaxy S6 edge) and dove into the settings and found it. Never seen this before, maybe it updated and just started doing it.
