Has anyone been able to take off the stock screen protector, or is it more of a laminate?

There isn't one

An unattached one was included in the box for me - I screwed up the application and had to take it off immediately and use one of the extras I'd bought.
I think Sony putt an anti-shatter layer on all their phones, which is what you might be seeing (and is what I suspect makes Sony screens more reflective than other manufacturers).
I'm pretty certain there isn't the anti shatter layer on my sp. There is on on my s and tablet z, you can clearly see the edge of it close to the edge of the screen glass.

Maybe. I think the SP is the only Sony phone with gorilla glass?

Click to collapse
That could explain the big attraction to dust...
Most of the cases for Z1 has a second cutout to the right of the camera/flash cutout.
Does anyone know what this is used for?
Cheers.
For IR Blaster of japanese xperia z1.

if yes, just remove the goddamn anti shatter proof sheet and you'll get your screen clean as new again... just remember to get a good screen guard, preferably a tempered glass one

Get a screen protector.

The screen itself is in Glass so is not so easy to scratch it but the problem with the Z1 is the shatter resistant screen protector, is easy to scratch it because is in plastic.
Hi guys,
Does the xperia sp have a factory applied screen protector covering the gorilla glass like on the xperia s and z series?

Edit: this phone (together with xperia J) has no anti shatter film because it has gorilla glass and doesn't need that protection film
