Get a screen protector.

The screen itself is in Glass so is not so easy to scratch it but the problem with the Z1 is the shatter resistant screen protector, is easy to scratch it because is in plastic.

Not the 2012 model. It has glass made by Corning, the same makers of Gorilla Glass but it is not Gorilla Glass.

Has anyone been able to take off the stock screen protector, or is it more of a laminate?

There isn't one

An unattached one was included in the box for me - I screwed up the application and had to take it off immediately and use one of the extras I'd bought.
I think Sony putt an anti-shatter layer on all their phones, which is what you might be seeing (and is what I suspect makes Sony screens more reflective than other manufacturers).
I'm pretty certain there isn't the anti shatter layer on my sp. There is on on my s and tablet z, you can clearly see the edge of it close to the edge of the screen glass.

Maybe. I think the SP is the only Sony phone with gorilla glass?

I've been really wanting to get a tempered glass protector. And I keep leaning towards this one. Has anyone tried this screen protector?

Looks like 88 reviews on amazon, read those?

Cheap, I would just get it. I'm rocking Seidio tempered glass, it chipped from a drop in the corner.. But it's away from the screen so it doesn't bother me.

I'm using the "Explosion-proof tempered glass film" with 9H hardness and I can say that is really good. The screen brights better, nothing changed in the touch screen and the film repels oil. The only problem to me is the reflex in the film when the light is behind me.
On a whim, I put one on a few weeks ago. I found that it scratches easier than a regular iSmooth protector. I typically get a few months use from one iSmooth. This iLoome barely lasted a few weeks in my harsh, steel mill environment. YMMV. For me, it was a complete waste of money.

Hi guys,
Does the xperia sp have a factory applied screen protector covering the gorilla glass like on the xperia s and z series?

Edit: this phone (together with xperia J) has no anti shatter film because it has gorilla glass and doesn't need that protection film
