[Q] CM10.2 Play Fail. - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I have upgraded from CM 10.1 to CM10.2 and have hit a couple of problems.
Play music keeps on "Stopping" when I try to launch.
The Play store fails whenever I try to update an app or install a new app.
I flashed 4.3 GAPP's and installed SU 1.51 and re-rooted.
Any ideas?
Steve

Tried clearing play store and play services data?

Happened to me on asylum's with 4.3 gapps as well.. Either stuck at downloading or installing. Clearing data helps but after a while the problem comes back again.

Hi,
Thanks for getting back to me. I didn't try that, but assumed (incorrectly) that flashing GAPPS would overwrite the cache.
I've rolled back to CM10.1 for a few weeks until there are a few more releases. Loving CM 10 so much, and Focal is pretty cool too.
Steve

yeah i am getting this issue with 10.1 as well except clearing data does not work, also how did you go to 10.2 and re-root i am not sure what to do for that

Using cm10.1 too on my nexus 7 and xperia z simply because cm10.2 isn't stable enough for me yet

the only thing you need to do now..... is reflash the whole thing.... i was also encountering the same issue..... flashed the boot.img from it and flashed the rom again... no need for flashing the root update and all.....
awesome thing...

I finally went back through the process and this time I cleared out the cache for Play and Music and it all worked perfectly. Seems stable enough too.
Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Requires newer sdk version. What does that mean?

So this started yesterday every app I try to update fails and says requires newer sdk version.. I've tried uninstalling the app. Restoring through titanium. Wiping the data and cache of the play store and wiping the cache and dalvik cache of the phone in general. And this happened after I flashed the new alpha build of pac and then restored to the previous version. Any ideas? @skeevydude

Usually "Requires Newer SDK" means that the application requires your Android Version to be higher than it currently is to be compatible with that app. What version of Android are you using? If you are using a custom ROM, which one? Some times having a custom ROM might require you to update your G-Apps package from the ROM maker. I had the same problem on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0" and I flashed the newer G-Apps package and all was well.
If you are using stock, make sure your "Google Play Services" is updated to the latest version.
Well my signature says pacman man. And my post said it also so yeah lol. Which means it's 4.2 and I'm using the latest gapps.

What app exactly is giving you the issue? The new Google Maps?
That and one other I forgot which one.

There isn't a solution I can think of off the top of my head besides waiting form then ROM maker to fix the issue. I'll keep researching though.

Just for sh¡ts and giggles try to find the previous versions for the apps that are giving you problems.
(I you can tell me what ones are having issues and what version they are I can most likely find the previous ones)

Just discovered the cause of this problem on my own phone. Incorrect gapps version.
Having updated to 10.2 and flashing the latest gapps I started having issues with the Google apps not responding.
I restored in recovery to 10.1 and got the same error as you as i didn't flash the appropriate gapps.

That's exactly what happened to me too.
I would have thought a full Restore would have sorted things?
So, did you just re-flash the 10.1 gaaps to fix your issue?

Yeah, I reflashed the old gapps, from March I think.
I'd always assumed that the recovery was an exact image of the phone in it's complete state... Obviously not!
I've since gone back to 4.2, did a complete wipe of data, cache and dalvik. Flashed 10.2 then the 4.2 gapps and it's running sweet as a nut now.
Battery usage seems to be worse, but no doubt the cm team will soon iron that out within the next few nightlies.

I just tried flashing the March gaaps but no joy.
Do you reckon I need to wipe data, cache and dalvik too?

Don't think you need to wipe data, but yes to the others.
They just released a 4.3 GApps. I recommend updating. I had 4.2 GApps on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 and it wouldn't work with 4.3. AOSP kept on crashing and market would fail to load any data. Just visit http://goo.im/ and download the 20130813-gapps.zip

Guys I flashed a new row, made all wipes and put CM 10.1 w/ Gapps for 4.2. I don't liked the rom so I flashed it again and now I have a big problem.. the gyroscope isn't calibrating, play store isn't working and the process gapps is stopping working every time. I flashed gapps for 4.1 and the problem persists. Made all wipes, flashed again, did all the things I found in google and nothing.. Please help me!

You must downgrade to GingerBread to recalibrate. Jelly Bean don't have this feature.

Seriously? That's the only way?
Yep. I have this issue and search a lot for alternative solution without results.
I downgraded, recalibrate and after that upgrade to Jelly Bean and the rest...

When I downgrade to GB I will lose all my apps and data from internal storage?
Yep.
But make a backup with Titanium and/or other app like and will be fine.
Or, if you have a Nandroid Backup, after downgrade GB and upgrade JB you can restore it.

[Q] Running cm 10.1.3 (4.2.2) and can't install youtube app

Hi guys I'm in a bit of a problem. I have been running this custom rom for about one week and everything seemed fine and smooth. After I finally flashed successfully the new rom and booted up my device again for the first time Google backup re-installed all my apps that i had already downloaded from the time i was using the stock rom (social networks, games etc.) Then i saw that youtube app wasn't installed so i went to google store and tried to install it manually. After youtube was successfully downloaded i was waiting for it to be installed. While i was still waiting a message appeared on the screen saying that "an unknown error code appeared while the install(-24)". What is the cause of the problem and what should I do? Every reply and idea would be really appreciated! Thank you very much! (I'm really sorry for my bad English)
I just installed this exact rom on my girlfriend's phone today. YouTube downloaded and installed fine.
do you want an external download link?

I'm still facing the exact same problem. Every time it downloads succesfully but then when it comes to install the apk it says that there was a problem with the installation..
But thank you very much for your time!
If you come up with an other idea i will be very pleased to hear it!
Thank you!
weird. try re flashing the rom?

Try a factory reset first, just to be sure.
Ok, I will do a factory reset and if that still doesn't work i'll go for a re flash.
Thanks guys!

HTC One CyanogenMod Screenshot

Hello,
I flashed yesterday;s CM11 and everything is working perfectly fine but I am unable to take screenshots. I tried using some free apps as well and noticed it just takes a black screen image. Anyone have any ideas? or should I jus flash the new nightly? Kid of want to stay away from reflashing since I have to set everything up again.
Thanks

I think CM 11 is still in nightly. So there might be some missing features and bugs. Try waiting for stable version to be released

[Q] P1000 stays at boot screen after installing CM11

I upgraded my P1000 from cm-10.1-20131117-NIGHTLY-p1.zip to cm-11-20131210-NIGHTLY-p1.zip
After the update it was kinda working fine. Gapps did not work yet since I did not upgrade that yet, so I installed pa_gapps-full-4.4-20131126-signed.zip.
And rebooted.
That's where the trouble started.
Apps crashed and the P1000 did not startup fine.
I decided to do a full wipe, cleared all caches and re-flashed the P1000.
I does not start anymore (stays on the CM11 boot screen).
What did I miss?
It's not your fault.
It's many different but similar errors in past few days on experimental CM11 builds.
Read http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2560605 for example.

Thanks,
It seems I updated to CM11 a bit to early, having confidence
If there is someone having a glorious idea...I'm open to those, hehe....
I flashed back to cm10... Maybe it was a bit too early to go to CM11....

Your original problem was using PA GAPPS full. Its to big for the /system partition. You should use one of the BaNkS Gapps versions instead. CM11 runs extremely well on SGT 7, especially after switching to ART.
