Hey all,
Im having a problem with my milestone A853, it was having bootloop issues on it so Im trying to revert to factory. Problem is it wont boot up when I flash the telus sbf file. However, it will boot up on a sbf for a different country. Could all three of the telus sbf files that ive tried be corrupted? Also, when I have it running on a british 2.2.1 sbf it wont install any custom roms, even though it is rooted and flashed with open recovery 3.3. Any advice?

Dear all,
I know I am kind of stupid at first... applied an OTA from Motorola recently and found that I lost root. Now that I have found that my bootloader will NOT be flashed by any mean, RSDLite or sbf_flash, it stays FOREVER at 90.73. What can I do? Thanks for any help. Other parts flash fine it seems...

If you only want root back try universal androot. You only have to install it and press one button to activate root. For me this worked. If you want recovery back, try flashing one of those sbf with vulnerable bootloader. You can find them here:http://and-developers.com/sbf:milestone
The easiest way is to flash GOT's beta. That will give you a vulnerable bootloader and root at the same time.
Recovery is one thing, bootloader another.
There's nothing wrong with the 90.73 bootloader, afaik.
I've got the 90.73 on my phone and I don't feel any need to update it to 90.74. The only known difference is the key used to boot to the recovery (camera vs. x) and the ability to flash an older firmware (bootloader won't let you to downgrade to a firmware older than your current bootloader version).
To update the bootloader, you would need to use the special mbm update sbf.
But as I've said, I don't know about a single reason to do it (unless your camera button is broken ).
I think his problem is, that after the update his root is lost and he wanted to apply it via recovery. But the bootloader is no longer vulnerable and so he cant apply the update.zip. Am i right?
No. As kabaldan said, bootloader and recovery are two different things.
thank you for all of you.
my problem is that I cannot put ANY of the vulnerable recovery on my milestone. it seems to me that this is motorola's new trick, as I cannot find the script within system/etc that will replace whatever recovery you have with a non-vulnerable one as some other post describes. I am not 100% sure though.
You can find a tutorial on kabaldans website for making the recovery vulnerable. There is also your case inside. Maybe this will help you. Also your issue could be solved by flashing a full sbf, where this script isnt implemented. You could flash on of GOT's sbf, they have vulnerable recovery.
Oh, thank you very much to all of you. Since everybody is so certain Moto does not bring up anything new, so I reviewed my process again...
And found that... I am so stupid!
I did not unzip the Open recovery zip file but renamed it to update.zip instead.
And I also thought that applying vulnerable bootloader will change my bootloader version...
Thank you very much for all of your patience.
I have an Incredible S running froyo. I used the alpha method to S-Off then I rooted the phone. Since I was rooted I decided to add a rooted gingerbread rom. I extracted the rom.zip from the gingerbread RUU for my phone and ran the rom.zip through the Rom Kitchen. Only option I picked was to root. (Kept it simple) The rom wouldn't flash. Kept getting stuck on the slash screen so I used recovery and went back to my working froyo backup. Then I decided to download CM7 rom and flash it. The same thing stuck on CM7 splash screen. Used recovery and went back to my working froyo backup. I figured maybe I need a gingerbread radio for the roms to boot. I installed eng hboot and flashed the gingerbread radio for my phone. I tried installing both my rom and the cm7 rom with no luck. Both roms get stuck on flash screen. So I used recovery to go back to my working froyo backup. Now I'm stuck with a Froyo rom and a Gingerbread radio.(No sound on calls) I tried flashing the original froyo radio but after flashing the froyo radio my phones go into a boot loop with the HTC splash screen. So I flash the gingerbread radio and phone boots up and works again except no sound on the calls because of the gingerbread radio.
So my question. How do I downgrade from a gingerbread radio to a froyo radio? The flash methods I used to originally flash my radio do not work.
Glad to know I'm not the only one that bricked it like that xD... I don't think you can
downgrade... I am thinking about maybe trying to flash Optus through fastboot, but I'm unsure if that will work... But another option is to use a ROM like Revolution or CM7 which are gingerbread.
Same here bro!!!
Same here bros
I got my IS with foryo 2.2, was working fine. I thought to update to gingerbread but was not aware then i will not be able to downgrade or S-OFF.
I just got Gingerbread OTA update of 83.3MB, just updated and now its working fine but
no S-OFF, no customer recovery, no Custom roms
dieing to Downgrade so that i can do S-OFF for rooting and custom rom installation
ANY BODY HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First try the AlphaRevX method to S-Off. From there you should be able to install custom recovery, root, and install custom roms. If you can not S-Off with the AlphaRevX method then install a gingerbread rom on your phone from another region through gold card method then use the AlphaRevX method to S-Off. (Most people been using the Australia Optus Rom)

Yeah that is the method I used. I thought with eng hboot I had the flexability to bounce between radios but for what ever reason once you go to a gingerbread you can't go back to a froyo radio.

Alright so its been a while since I flashed things on my Bell Raider. I have a stock Bell Raider that is just rooted with an unlocked bootloader (will refer to as BL from now on).
I want to flash ICS but do not want to wipe using the Bell RUU. I have been googling around and it says it will work as long as you are as close to stock as possible which I am minus root and recovery.
I used the Bell RUU and extracted the FW.zip file, which contains the recovery_signed.img, so i need to know if its 1.) safe to flash back to stock recovery and 2.) How do i do it using fastboot command?
I want to try this first and as a last resort I will use the RUU and then upgrade.

I am at my girlfriends place ATM. I will upload it for you as soon as I get back home later tonight. Otherwise if you want to extract it by yourself from the RUU, email me @ [email protected] and I will send you the procedure.

Hi I've had my HTC one since june/july and decided I get on the rooting bang wagon.
Managed to unlock bootloader and everything looked fine, tried to install kitkat rom and well it went down hill from there as it wouldn't install and after that wouldn't do anything other than reload into cwn recovery. I'd not done a back up like a clown or took note of any of my firmware, kernel versions. managed to learn how to push rom via adb and fastboot. thing is I panicked as I did'nt want a bricked fone and stuck on stock odex rom.
its runs fine but would really like to have uk unbranded rom and firmware back on or atleast know where to find it before I attempt to stick either google edition software or kitkat again but hopefully a little more succesful. I've also now managed to s-off

As you managed to s-off, there are 2 ways. The first being to run the 1.28.401.7 RUU (http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu_m7_ul_jb_50_htc_europe_1-28-401-7_radio_4a-13-3231-27_10-31-1131-05_release_310878_signed-exe/), to downgrade and then update to the latest.
Or easier way would be to flash the latest 3.62.401.1 GURU RESET ROM here: http://www.htc1guru.com/2013/10/guru-reset-3-62-401-1-stock-rom/ That includes the options to go to complete stock.

My MotoX is unlocked and ready to rock and roll. I've had it rooted ever since I got it from the friend but never knew what firmware was on it at the time so this is where I have possibly made the dumbest mistake so far. I wanted to get back to stock so I downloaded the stock 4.4.2 update and tried flashing it after I made a backup. Well, now the only thing I can get the phone to do is boot into the bootloader. Everything else causes it to sit at the unlocked bootloader screen. Even tried flashing TWRP2.7 to it because I figured that maybe the recovery img was screwed up but even that didnt work.
Traditionally, If we can get the phone to do anything at all then it's fixable but at this stage I need help. I've never owned such a touchy phone and I'm paying dearly for it.
I'm going to guess that you had 4.4.2 on your phone before you tried loading 4.2.2?
If so, download the 4.4.2 SBF for your phone, and flash it using RSDlite, or flash all the pieces manually using mFastboot.

Ah ****....just noticed I said 4.2.2 but i meant 4.4.2. Should this matter?
Nope. Boot into the bootloader and flash everything manually using fastboot/mfastboot.
