I've switched roms a few times on my HTC One and lately my phone has been unable to switch from HSPA+ to LTE in areas there i receive LTE. I have tried both Sense based roms and Google Edition roms to no affect, the LTE functionality still exist however since iv been able to set it to LTE only from the *#*#4636*#*# menu and get a LTE signal on the phone but when set to LTE/GSM it will only stick to a HSPA connection. Anyone have anything similar happen or knows of a way to fix this?

It seems like people with unlocked devices are able to lock 2g but AT&T branded devices are not. We've all tried these methods and they have not worked:
4636 menu
AnyCut
ProWidgets
The problem seems to be that we can't disable the automatic operator selection. I remember this used to be a problem on the BB but someone figured out a way to enter some type of code into the phone and enabled 2g lock... AT&T also eventually enabled it after a few years. Is it possible for this to be enabled on AT&T Atrixes?
You're trying to lock the device to 2G bands only? I can't imagine why you'd want to do that with AT&T upgrading their 2G towers (albeit slowly).
The problem is I get very weak 3G/H+ signals but strong E signals where I am and it kills my battery when the radio is flipping back and forth and trying to find a stronger 3G signal.

Hey guys
So I looked around the forum for an answer to this question and i found similar topics but not exactly what I was looking for. I have the HTC one with sprint and the only issue I have with it is how it handles its preferred networks. If have 2 bars of LTE but 4-5 bars of 3g its going to stay on 3g and not switch to LTE. Is there anyway to change how it gives each signal preference. Currently it will wait till there is no 3g signal before it switches to 2g but LTE is not giving the same preference. I know it's just this phone because I had the iphone 5 before this and when I was on campus at my university it would stick to the 1 bar of LTE i had rather than switching to 3g. If I force the phone in LTE only mode then it will pick the LTE signal but then I can't call and text obviously so it's not very useful.
There are two things that the iphone 5 did which I miss but otherwise love this phone. One is getting LTE in places that has low coverage and the other is roaming on verizon network on 3g. The iphone would always roam on 3g but the htc one only roams on 2g.
Is there a way to change those things with this phone? Thanks in advance!

Have you tried changing the preferred in the *#*#4636*#*# > Phone Information?
Hi thanks for the response. Yes I have messed around with that. That's how I got the LTE only option. It isn't a matter of not finding LTE signal. It's just the way the phone handles what is perferred. The phone first sees if there is a strong LTE signal and it catches that but the moment it goes to about 3 bars or less it will switch to 3g. I want it to continue sticking with LTE until the signal is gone completely like it does with 3g -> 2g.

If its that way then I belive a builder will be able to forge a flashable zip for that purpose.

I see. And who do I ask for that? Or how can I build one? Sorry I am a bit of a rookie in this. I don't want to mess around with it too much but can learn. I thought there might already be some sort of hack or a modded PRL.
any new insight on this by anyone? thanks
I have lte at my work if I do lte only but it will switch to 3g when i turn everything else one because 3g signal is stronger than lte. id rather use lte however but still have my texting and calling capabilities.

I know it's not an optimal solution, but have you considered using Google Voice integration in the meantime? With LTE only mode, so long as you're signed into an app of choice (Google Voice/Hangouts should be able to handle your calls and texts if you tweak at it a bit), you should have the desired service until you can get some dev help.
I saw a few screenshots of people's Moto X's from sprint with a bunch of options under Network Mode. I have the XT1053 (TMO unlocked, on ATT network) and the only options I see are "Auto" and "2G."
I browsed around and found that there's an LTE OnOff app, but I'm just wondering if there's a way I can get those options for 3G on my device's Network Mode option list?
The reason why I even care is because for some reason at my workplace, I can't seem to get any data through LTE. My signal will display 3 bars of LTE, but it absolutely does not work. While it will turn off LTE and just say 4G since it's on auto, I find that a majority of my day, it WON'T switch. It stays on 4G LTE 99% of the time and does not function at all. When I walk outside the building, LTE works perfectly fine. Would I be right to assume that the auto mode is literally on borderline between switching, so it never establishes a stable connection?
I guess it brings me to the question, is the Auto mode inefficient / will I have to live with manually turning off LTE every time I get to work? :/

3 bars of LTE is an excellent signal. With 1 bar of signal I can still get 15mbps down from my provider. If your phone is detecting such a strong received signal it won't be switching back to HSPA on its own. For some reason the building you're in may block the phones transmitted signal more then it blocks the signal from the cell site. I am guessing you're on band 4 LTE which has quite the frequency difference between uplink and downlink. Your only option(assuming the phone or cell site isn't defective) is to manually switch to WCDMA with a third party app such as the "LTE setting" app in the Play store. Or unlock your bootloader and flash firmware from another provider that has more options. I know the Rogers Canada firmware has an LTE on/off option, it also has a 2G only option. Sadly Rogers has not yet approved the release of 4.4 (kitkat).

That makes a lot more sense to me now. So basically the "Auto" mode only considers my reception and not transmittance strength, so it never saw a need to switch me off LTE. I am almost sure it is not my phone because I started experiencing a signal loss issue with my S3 a few days ago. I doubt it's the cell site because as soon as I step out of the building, LTE works with no problems.
I did ended up using LTE OnOff to force CDMA and I can actually do stuff now. I went and did a speedtest ...
Ping: 114 ms
Down: 4.06 Mbps
Up: 0.77 Mbps
I guess with the lack of options, I have yet another reason to roll up the sleeves and get my hands dirty. Haven't touched ABD since I had a samsung captivate!
Thank you
So here's the deal, I have scoured the intarwebs and can't seem that find a solution to my problem, so as such I will toss my problems before you.
I have a Verizon Nexus 6 stock ROM, bootloader unlocked and rooted, TWRP with the current Franco Kernel. No other mods. So here's the issue, I can get LTE, but when the phone hands over to 3g service I get stuck there. The phone remains in 3g until I am forced to go to the cellular network menu and choose lte/gsm/umts so that it ignores CDMA. Once it finds lte again (almost instantly) I can return to global or even the lte/CDMA and have no issues until LTE drops and I have to do it again. I have even gone and got a new SIM with no fix.
Any ideas on a solution
I use RIngPlus for service which is a Sprint MNVO. Im running into a problem where I cant get 4g / LTE working on my One M7 I bought used. Ive had an LG Volt, S3, and a Sharp Aquos phone and all had no issue connecting and had decent speeds. In areas where I got full LTE speeds with the other phones, this one seems to be stuck on 3g. The one exception is driving down the interstate the phone will switch to one bar of 4g briefly but quickly drops back down to 3g.
Ive been tinkering around with the phone changing roms around and went into the ##DATA# menu and found that LTE band 25 is enabled and 26 and 41 are disabled. Would this be whats causing my issue? I tried editing it by entering my MSL, but for some reason theres no option to edit those lines and enable them.
Anyone know if I can enable those bands and if thats what the issue may be?
Thanks!
