I've switched roms a few times on my HTC One and lately my phone has been unable to switch from HSPA+ to LTE in areas there i receive LTE. I have tried both Sense based roms and Google Edition roms to no affect, the LTE functionality still exist however since iv been able to set it to LTE only from the *#*#4636*#*# menu and get a LTE signal on the phone but when set to LTE/GSM it will only stick to a HSPA connection. Anyone have anything similar happen or knows of a way to fix this?
Greetings folks. I own a Nexus 6 XT1103 Unlocked. I'm on MetroPCS currently (piggybacks off T-Mobile LTE).
On Android 6.0.1 ROMs the device connects to LTE networks with no issue whatsoever. The real issue arises when I flash an Android 7.x ROM. The device connects to 3G (UMTS/HSDPA) and remains there even though the network setting is on LTE.
The phone momentarily connects to LTE when I reset the radio from LTE Discovery app and then reverts to 3G (the LTE signal detected just drops off to N/A). Also when the device is momentarily connected to LTE, the carrier label changes to 'No Service' even though network is available and LTE data works for those few moments. After those few moments it's back to UMTS and the carrier label returns to 'MetroPCS'
I've tried the following things to fix this (all in vain)
1. Flashed different radios (05.32, 05.34, 05.42) and bootloaders
2. Flash Android N stock image and then flash custom 7.x ROM
3. Go to the *#*#4636#*#* menu and set LTE only.
4. Resetting APN to default and manually adding APNs (both MetroPCS and T-Mobile)
I know the LTE network in the area is fine otherwise and anyway the moment I'm back on MM the issue the device connects to LTE properly (with a valid MetroPCS carrier label). This issue occurs on any Android 7.x ROM but it didn't happen as often in the Dev Preview, if I remember right.
I request all of you folks to help out if you've seen something like this or have any solutions. Cheers.
PS: Google Connectivity Services installed/uninstalled/disabled doesn't fix it
Have you tried a network settings reset? This worked for me when I lost LTE connectivity.
Settings>Backup & reset>Network settings reset.
Make sure you select network settings reset and not factory reset. They're right next to each other, so if your finger slips and you select the wrong one you'll be very unhappy.
Fixed it!! Flashing the 05.39 radio on fastboot before flashing the ROM seems to do it. Now LTE works with the proper carrier label too. I'd forgotten about the 05.39 radio as it was the one bundled with the N Dev Previews.
Cheers!
Hi,
So I'm having an issue keeping an LTE signal. I use straight talk with at&t and I can get LTE if I turn the radio on/off, but it will always switch itself over to 3G at some point in the same location. There are apps that can force it to do LTE only which works, but I can't make or receive voice calls over LTE.
Does anyone know how to fix this? This never happened on other phones on the same network. In my specific location I get 2-3 bars of LTE and 4 bars if switched to 3G. I guess it wants to keep using the better signal.
Also at home where I have full signal LTE and H+, it will choose H+ over LTE.
Had same problem. Switched sim slot to the other. 4g again. Try IT?
Did you try different APN settings? I'm guessing you already checked the preferred network option.

APN settings are good and I can get LTE if I flip the radio on and off...it just always wants to revert back to 3G at some point. Same thing happens in sim card slot 1 or 2

Which rom are you on? I remember there's a specific rom that has a bad modem file. Trying updating to the latest version.
Maybe you can solve it by going to APN settings and set APN protocol -> IPv4 and APN roaming protocol -> IPv4 . That worked for me. I had the same issue.
Or try IPv4/IPv6. That's network related and maybe IPv4/IPv6 is correct for you.
I have to set it every time I flash EU or EPIC rom.
Good luck.
did you ever figure this out?
I'm having a similar problem on a Note 4 Global. Only it switches to 3G for a voice call and never switches back.

I've updated it, and it's all the same. Once in a great while it will switch over to LTE on its own, but 99% of the time it will just sit on H+ forever even though I know the LTE is fine wherever I go.
I guess this is just how it's going to be.
I finally fixed this by wiping everything in twrp and flashing a newer version of the global stable rom. LTE works fine now, and it doesn't stick on H+ when I make a call anymore.

That's interesting. I guess Xiaomi fixed the bug in one of the releases. I wonder why you had to wipe everything though. What if we try to flash the latest modem. Is there a link to that? Would that work?
Would modem be the same as firmware? There's a thread on here that has those. None of them did anything for me.
My LTE problem is isn't fixed after all I guess. Once it loses LTE, it still never reconnects to it on its own and goes to H/H+ forever.
I guess the only thing that I've fixed is that it actually switches back to LTE after a phone call.
I have got moto-x xt1052 running lollipop Asia version
Network works fine in gsm (2G) mode but it shows no service in 3G and LTE mode
Vodafone IN 2G works not 3G and 4G, Reliance JIO doesn't works since it has only LTE
I tried resetting the phone and flashed the stock rom
Run test in *#*#INFO#*#* mode, in SMSC it shows my number
Even flashed the modem files but also it show no service
How can i get back LTE mode?, help me guys
Since a few days ago, my Moto X also has no service, regardless of what the preferred mode is set to. It simply sees no carriers at all. Anybody got an idea how I can debug this? One idea is that the GSM antenna has disconnected itself somehow, but I don't even know where it is.
Trying this forum before I commit to re-flashing ROM.
I'm running lineage 14.1 on an HTC 10, and since I went thru using my phone with UK, Canadian and Mexican SIMs, my radio will randomly completely lose signal on a US SIM, and it seems more frequent when I allow LTE than when I have it set to UTMS only, though it still happens then.
I have to go into #*#*4636*#*# and toggle between gsm only and gsm+LTE, sometimes reboot my phone, and eventually I get signal back with full LTE.
It seems to me like my phone stops searching for towers until I prompt it to do so again by messing with its config and rebooting.
Looking for any ideas before I decide to reinstall my system.
