After installing Semaphore's ClockworkMod Recovery via Heimdall Suite my i9000 do not boot. It show the splash samsung-logo, than the screen switch to black an after 2-3 seconds the splash-logo will be showed.
I can turn on the Semaphore CWM Recovery and I could (I hope so) flash a new CyanogenMod or so BUT! But i need the data from my cellphone.
Questions:
It's possible to access in Semaphore CWM Recovery mode the data to copy them to PC via USB or to external SD-Card?
It's possible to make a backup to external SD-Card? How to mount the external card?
It's possible to flash a new zImage (like the original one) to boot normally? Where I can get this image? Heimdall works still properly.
What i can do to rescue my data.
Thank You,
MiniX1
don't worry, you won't loss anything on your sdcard when flashing new custom rom, but you will loss apps that you've already installed.

beating around the bush mate not wise to use nandroid backup as more work involved. , just use cwm to mount USB storage and you can copy the entire SD card contents to PC or whatever yu need or move to ext SD card.

Hi everyone, I had recently bought an SGS from Ebay, its an i9000. I had rooted and flashed Darkys ROM 10.2.2 extreme edition; everything was working fine.
However today after turning wifi on for the first time on this ROM the phone started randomly rebooting and would not stop doing so, attempted to take wifi off but on reboot it would be re-enabled.
ive attempted to get into recovery mode but it does not seem to want to, i can get into download mode so i can reflash via odin, but i would prefer to just restore via clockwork mod. any suggestions?
edit: i have now been able to get into recovery mode, however, i had previously backed up my external and internal sd cards to partition, after partitioning, i put them all back onto the external, and now clockwork mod tells me i cant restore as it cant find the backup folder :\ i cant keep the phone on long enough to mount the internal storage
any ideas?
You say you backed up your external and internal SD Cards to partition? This is a bit unclear for me, did you do a nandroid backup?
It's totally different than just copy pasting folders. If you DID just copy a backup of your phone via file manager or something then I don't think you'd ever be able to restore to that.
Best thing I can tell you to do now is reflash via ODIN... and remember to do a nandroid backup after.
You can't access the External SD while in CWM (as far as I know), so the only option you have left is to flash via Odin. Get used to it.
thanks for the replies problem solved. to clarify i had a nandroid back ip on my sd which i moved before partitioning, after partitioning i moved it to external sd and clockwork only checks internal sd

I have frozen home.apk and did a factory reset. so the debug mode is unticked and i have rooted my phone with cwm installed. I cant use my phone now cos i dun have a home.apk. Does anyone know what should i do? Help. Please.
Reflash it?
i dun actually know,
i know there are 2 methods, one is using kdz and the other is using Smartflash
can you tell me, thanks!
Oh! Ok! So... you said you had CWM installed. This means you can access it by keeping the power button + volume down pressed. Am I right? How did you install this CWM? Was it through ROM Manager? Did you perform a full backup of your system? Do you have any ROM's in your internal memory? Do you have an external SD card? (this is almost like a doctor's appointment! )
i have an external sd card
the original lg v20l is installed
cwm was installed before i made a factory rest
i can access cwm
Just push in another launcher with adb
If it was me I would put a custom ROM in the sd card, boot into CWM and flash it, since you haven't performed a full system back up.
Or, if you know how to use adb you can do as Herrhuk suggested.
However I strongly recommend that you perform a full system backup using CWM as soon as you have your phone working properly.
First I'd like to thank you for spending time to help me out with my problem. I've tried to handle the problem on my own for the past 2 days, and amount to nothing. I've searched the internet about this issue, and tried to adb pull my photos and tried to flash using ODIN v3.07. But the device doesn't seem to be able to be detected by few computers I've tried. I've changed different cables to see if it would help, but it doesn't help either. I've also tried to use Odin v3.04 to see if it helped.
Problem: Galaxy note is stuck at the samsung logo and cannot continue to main screen.
Cause: Removed battery to take memory card out, after that, reinsert the SD card and the problem occurs. (Battery was also at the low)
Needs: Recover photo from phone
Prevent: Factory reset
What the phone does:
Samsung Mobile USB composite successfully connected
Can get to download mode
What it can't:
Samsung MTP USB failed to connect
Not detected in ODIN v3.07
Phone Condition:
GT N7000 (International version)
Have never been rooted before
1 year 3 months age
Thank you so much for your attention, I hope all you "GURUs" can help out a noob like me.
photos? are those saved in the gallery? taken by cam?
if yes the factory reset doesnot erase that...
1. try booting without the sd card..
2. I dont know which rom were you on .. hopefully ICS.even if no.. download http://www.mediafire.com/?wsmj7fytof14bf1 & http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1408182&stc=1&d=1350455938 and place it on sd card..
then boot into recovery and choose apply update from external storage.. choose the kernel (1st zip Philz) you downloaded and install..
once done.. power off the phone and reboot into recovery .. CWM should be there..
go to mounts and storage and choose mount usb storage and conenct to PC.. check if you can get the drives there... (may take a few secs)
if no.. then install the 2nd zip.. aroma file manager.. this will give you a file manager in recovery... you can copy required files from the internal SD to external SD. then power off and remove the sd card..
Thank you so much!
From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU SO SO MUCH! Thanks to you, I can have a good night sleep. :fingers-crossed: You're clearly a Guru! Better than the staff's I've consulted from Samsung Service. Again, thank you!
did you manage to recover the photos? how?
I used the first kernel (Philz) and updated the phone through SD card, mounted the USB through CWM and connect to my computer. Then I got the notification from my computer it got detected. Yeah! Haha, thank you so much!
Now, trying to figure out is it possible to flash odin using this technique.
no...
but you could try doing a factory reset.. .. and check if the phone boots up.. keep in mind that you now have an ICS kernel.. so if the rom was ics then the phone may boot up.. but if it was JB or GB then it wont..
you can also try to install a custom rom from here..
Thank you so much for your insights. Sorry to bother you, but which Custom Rom do you recommend? I'd like to have an experts point of view.
hmmm thats really hard to answer... but you could try JB for note. like eybees, or ulitmate and more..

Sir
newbie here.My device isn't rooted.Yesterday, I downloaded Marshmallow update 6.0.1.At 43%,I started the update.I thought it will complete in that.you know, the logo and all came.I watched it updating till 85% then got on with my work. Then,I felt a vibration.I saw it rebooting and then it showed samsung logo in all white. It wouldn't move forwards after that.I heard 3 vibrations periodically. The 1st one...4 sec gap...and then the 2nd & 3rd vibrations in quick succession. And it would go on infinitely until the battery discharged.I plugged it in the wall charger and then I noticed the charging has also become very slow.I left it for charging at 6 AM and till now(12:14pm),its just 58%.I read in a thread about force restrat and quickly going into recovery mode.I wiped the cache partition hoping it would solve the problem but it didn't. I couldn't understand the rest of the part,so I didn't try.I selected power off option and right now it is charging.I have important data stored on the internal storage so I fear doing a factory reset.I also have fingerprint lock on it so I have no idea how to connect to PC and use.I got no idea about flashing roms.Is there any possible way to revert back to lollipop? I just want my data before I do something. Please help.I really want my data.I can manage without the tab.
I want to recover photos and no,they were not taken by camera.Rather, they were transferred to the device via sharing apps and I deleted other copies. Please help.I need my data.
I stay far away from solo kernels. Only if it is packed i a recovery file.Till now, i don't have problems, whatever I try to do with my Note.
From 4.1.2 to 7.1.1, no problem.

I know this is an old thread and these files probably are not up to date either. Hope someone can help.
I tried the philz zip and it went by quick but I believe I got a "signature not verified error."
I tried the aroma zip and I think it said "incorrect footer?"
Thanks for any help.
Will we ever have a working TWRP recovery?
Doesn't seem like it but I'm not too concerned since I have had great luck with Philz and Touch CWM.
Looks like we will not. But as long I have philz I'm OK. Lol
Too bad. I like philz lots but its cwm based and romtoolbox don't get along.

As someone whose previous device had a TWRP recovery the only thing I really miss is that it allowed internal and external sd card access while booted. That always made for easy switching of roms. I know I bork up something at least once a week while tinkering and have to reflash recovery because I deleted my data without a working rom backup on my sd card.

With philz never had a problem with that app as I use it to change bootanimations and fonts.

With Philz recovery you can always access both. Only takes a few minutes to switch between roms
Sorry for not being clearer

What I meant is that while in TWRP you can unmount your external and internal sd card and have it recognized as an mass storage device by windows. Thus allowing you to move roms, backups etc onto your sd card. Once you're finished with moving files you can remount your sd card and go about your business. I mess something up at least once a week and end up without a usable backup after wiping data in recovery. In the TWRP world I can just copy over a good backup without leaving the recovery. In Philz and cwm recoveries I end up having to reboot to the bootloader, reflash recovery, pull out my sd card and copy my backup to the sd card to get back where I need to be. It's nothing horrible but it does usually add 5 or 10 minutes to the process.
Philz has that option but I can't seem to be able to mount it correctly ,
I hope there will be a fix ,as I have been in situations in where I had a Bootlooping phone until I accessed my PC
If I recall correctly I think I heard someone built a version for us, but had touch points off coordination

The Photon Q TWRP works on our AHDs but has offset touch-points. It's still very usable once you figure out the offsets (down/left).
Attached is a flashable ZIP if you want to try it out. Just flash in recovery and reboot. You can always flash back to Philz if you don't like the touch issue.
Enjoy!
I currently have no rom installed due to me wiping the cache and data. I'm trying to put the cyanogenmod 11 zip on the sd card by mounting usb storage, however it doesn't allow to copy it over to the sd and just says "discovering items". Upon mounting the usb storage it recommends me to fix the device as there are some problems with files, I tried the scan and fix options but it did not help.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

On some kernels you can use connection to PC when you are in recovery, on some not. I do not know on what kernel and recovery you are now. But it seems it is not working. So solution is to do nandroid restore if you made a nandroid backup in recovery. I suppose you did not, so now your option is to flash stock JB from Download Mode with Odin, and copy ROM while you are in system. Or use some other phone and put SD card in it and copy like that.

Some of it has, some do not. I am not sure what version has it and what do not. I remember some version, maybe CoCore opens internal and external storage on PC automatically. But I can't remember was it CoCore or some else.

Actually it's something interesting, a senior. Like when Windows95 new entry in our country. At that time the system "DOS For Windows" is still very familiar in computer lessons in our education. (Developing Countries). So we can still do "Copy" and "Paste" via diskette in the system "DOS". I think CWM is almost similar to the DOS system. I mean, CWM will be very useful if a time on the android main system can not be done. Of course may be done through CWM. cmiiw.
