After installing Vanir, I don't know what went wrong !!! it was freezing then after trying to charge it, it bricked!!!!
I searched the forume and found major two ways
FIRST
RuedasLucas Here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1932123
i followed the info. correctly and stuck in the same problem the man in the thread have, I am stuck in LG logo
so i tied the second
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40174748&postcount=9&nocache=1
and i am stuck in installing " LGmobile Support Tool " because i am in windows 8 and it is not compitable with it. every time trying to install it seems not responding.
so i am stuck now and donot know how to unbrick it !!! no one tell me to set up win 7 because i donot have one
The LG support tool works fine on my Windows 8 64-bit version. Look for the thread on 'Flashing a KDZ with pictures' and follow it to the letter.
did u install gapps ? vanir installation never had a problem. about windows 8 x64 i can confirm the support tool is working because i had them some months ago ( now im on ubuntu x64 ).
and its not a good idea if on some little mistake u try go back to stock. the reason u tried flash vanir was to go away from stock. if u flash back to stock then in a few days will want to flash again a custom. so try again and do it right !
also dont take off battery. no need. maybe this battery trick is history. i never did that. i just long pressed power to reboot and then i just pressed a few times the vol down ( not hold ).

Try disabling any anti-virus first just to make sure that's not interfering. I've never heard of the proces freezing there before.

You did disable the Modem, right? And sometimes, the process seems to take a little long. You have to be patient.

mmmmmm.... if at the end u cant do anything and since, propably, your bootloader is unlocked , u can reinstall the recovery using the adb ( use cmd: adb reboot bootloader and then, when u are there , hit: adb install [recovery zip file path/name] ). eh the rest u know them so u dont need to use any kdz and tire urself with that boring procedure

The first thing to do if it sticks on the LG Logo is to boot into the LG recovery and do a factory reset - just to make sure. You often have to do this after flashing a new KDZ anyway.

i told you earlier at my post here , that you dont need to flash kdz and go back to stock if ur final goal is a custom rom. u could reinstall recovery using adb bootloader. nevermind -_- u just do things harder for u. bootloader is unlocked u cant unlock the unlocked. bootloader isnt locking again when u just force the stock rom in. there is another procedure u must do to lock it. u can install recovery ( if u havent ) and just install a custom rom
EDIT: you dont need this anymore but ill explain.
adb is used to force files into the device. its a way to communicate with the phone using the pc. u can use the adb to install whatever u like but if u are not sure that the thing u are trying to install is ok for the device, then u will have a problem.
so , since your bootloader is already unlocked, you can go in adb bootloader and force the recovery in.
open cmd:
Lets say i use the teamwin recovery. ill rename it to be easy and save it to desktop. my file is: recovery.zip
open cmd as administrator and go to desktop: cd .....[path to ur desktop]
1. adb start-server
2. adb reboot bootloader
3. fastboot fash recovery recovery.zip
thats it. 3 commands is 10 seconds work. u dont need to go back to stock rom to install a custom rom.
Hey everyone I'm looking here as my last resort before sending my phone back to Motorola.
Bought a Nexus 6 from motorola uk which was delivered yesterday, switched phone on and all the Google apps on the phone updated, then had a notification OTA to download and install android 5.1 which I did, towards the end of the install process I had an error with the green android and a red exclamation mark.
I powered the device off with the power button and it turned back on and ever since it says "Android is starting" "Optimizing app 1 of 125" once it goes through all the apps it gets to the android boot screen then just goes back to the "Android is starting" "Optimizing app 1 of 125" over and over and over. (Infinite bootloop)
Pointers: The phone is not unlocked or rooted as I'm a noob its just fresh out the box, also I never opened/unlocked the developer options.
I have tried various recovery mode fixes, wiping cache and wiping all data and then rebooting the device with no luck.
Is there anyway I can hook my N6 up to my computer and fix this with a tool kit etc? I'm willing to try but I'd need basic instructions and reassurance it wouldn't muck up my warranty if it didn't work as my only other option is to exchange for a new device.
Any help, advice etc would be hugely appreciated. Thanks

Read the guide on how to fastboot flash a factory image. No toolkit necessary.
Would you mind posting a link to a guide? I forgot to add that I don't want my phone to become rooted by trying to fix this issue, I want to keep it stock like it was, also does not have developer options enabled stop me from going further.
Sorry for the questions I'm a noob to this and quite anxious.

I presume this is because I didn't enable developer options or USB debugging?

When in bootloader mode type : fastboot devices
-Edit- just read that your bootloade is still locked so i`am afraid there is nothing you can do to fix the issue as you cannot flash firmware with a locked bootloader. Best is to claim warranty because of a software issue while updating.

Thought this would be the case, I went into adb fastboot and typed in fastboot devices and its showing some letters and numbers next to fastboot on screen if that helps.
In the future I presume I should make sure to enable developer options first so I can get out if this mess?
Also would it be best when I get my new n6 just to sideload the latest update marsmellow by getting the factory image from the Google website? Last question can I skip from 5.0 straight to 6.0 sideloading or do I have tobdo it one at a time?
Thanks for trying to help matey

Next time enable usb debugging and ENABLE OEM UNLOCK, both in developer options. You can flash the latest firmware available directly in fastboot by flashing the individual img files.

It says this on my Nexus 6 phone screen.
Unlock bootloader?
If you unlock the bootloader, you will be able to install custom operating system on this phone.
A custom OS is not subject to the same testing as the original OS, and can cause your phone and installed applications to stop working properly.
To prevent unauthorized access to your personal data, unlocking the bootloader will also delete all personal data from your phone (a "factory data reset".)
Press the volume up/down buttons to select yes or no. Then press power button to continue.
Yes (Unlock bootloader, may void warranty)
No. ( Do not unlock bootloader and restart phone)

Have you tried it from your PC?
fastboot reboot-bootloader
How can you run fastboot commands if your not in fastbbot-bootloader?
"my phone doesn't enter into fast boot mode"
(General message - see what I did there? No need to repeat the entire post. Just the part I'm responding to.)
Does this mean that you can't get to bootloader? Is your bootloader unlocked? When you reboot do you see the open padlock symbol?
So what did you do to brick your device?

With USB connected, from a cmd prompt I do:
adb devices (to load the drivers and make sure my phone is recognized)
adb reboot bootloader (this should put you in bootloader mode)
fastboot devices (just to be sure my phone is still recognized)
fastboot flash radio radio.img (or whatever image you want to flash)
fastboot reboot-bootloader (in between flashes, just to be safe)
I do so hate it when people don't bother to read my posts properly. It takes away my incentive to try to help them...
"No need to repeat the entire post. Just the part I'm responding to."
"So what did you do to brick your device?" Install the custom ROM you mention?
And a new question. You say "no matter wat buttons i press". Does that include the bootloader power & volume down simultaneous press for maybe 30 seconds?
So there are 3 items in this post. Can I have 3 responses please? The first will be not copying this entire post all over again, the other two will be answers to my questions.

Do you have a working recovery you can access?
And stay away from toolkits. Learn to flash manually. It's easy and you know what part goes wrong. Tool kits are nice in automation, but when something happens ya don't have a decent idea where to start.

Hello people.
So i got a custom recovery (TeamWin project). I disabled OEM Unlock on purpose, because i thought it wouldn't show the red line up in the bootscreen.
After trying to reboot, it wouldn't reboot, and i can't go into Recovery mode. I can't install any custom firmware too, because i've got the OEM Unlock set to "off"
Can someone please help, i can't find a topic similiar to my case, where i've bricked my phone and have no idea what to do.
Thanks to all those who are tying me to help <3.

Look and ask on the forum/thread of your device
Hi Community,
I'm a little bit "scared" to ask for the following, but I have read a lot about it and I'm just getting more confused, so I hope someone can bring clarity.
Situation looks like this: I will unpack my Mi Mix 256gb EU-version this evening and I want to put Resurection Remix on it. Now, what steps do I need to follow to get this done? I know the steps of each process is written in the related post, but how does it play together?
I understood that I need TWRP (to add and remove roms, right?) and then install the rom on top of it. Also, is it then rooted? flashed? unlocked? If I would want the original software on it again, is it possible to install it without leaving marks of the rom?
What confuses me also is, that I somehow have to unlock something through the xiaomi page and wait a few days?
Thank you in advance and best regards from Switzerland!
Everything you need to know is in this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-mix/how-to/guide-flash-global-china-rom-root-gapps-t3510592
Dont forget to decrypt your phone after you unlock your bootloader.
First you have to unlock your bootloader in order to flash recovery or fastboot rom. I will add all the links you need in order , so that you can access them fast and without problems.
For unlocking your bootloader first login into your Mi Account on your Mix , after this is done , go to unlock site (en.miui.com/unlock) and apply for unlock permissions ( Remember to use the same account you logged into your device if not you won´t be able to unlock it).Remember too to enable Developer Settings and allow Usb Debugging.
Afer this is done download and find this on google (xda adb drivers) and if you have windows its super -easy to set it up ( Remember to execute the batch file with admin privileges)
Once this is done if you still have adb problems just google and install universal adb driver, I will give you all the links at the end.
After all this and you have received approbation from Xiaomi to unlock and got the code , just plug-in your phone to your computer and enter fastboot mode ( Volume down+power buttons at the same time).
Open Mi Unlock program and enter the same account you used for unlock permissions and your device. After this is done wait for the unlock process to finish and click reboot.
Once you have rebooted your device download twrp , put it into adb folder (C://Adb) and with your device plugged-in type next : adb fastboot flash recovery twrp.img (or the name of your twrp.img , or just change it to twrp).
If you followed all the steps you should have twrp working and ready to flash any rom without problems. If you need more help just answer or send pm . Good luck and happy flashing.

Hey Thanks for the quick reply. I think this will help alot. So far I'm stuck at the first stage :silly: Did not receive an SMS even after 10 minutes. With the second click I received it but my IP is now blocked. Starts good
I can't even get it to reboot into recovery, it now freezes at the screen that prompts you to go to pcsuite!

Do you mean fastboot, have you installed a recovery? We don't know how far you have got. Power and vol- for fastboot. When mi logo appears let go of power button but keep vol- pressed till you see fastboot screen.

doesn't work, I had to go this route:
http://en.miui.com/thread-500625-1-1.html
and to threadstarter: if you are not in China, you don't have to do the unlock request. If you're on EU rom already, you're unlocked. Just use the thread I posted, it is much, much easier.
You have to use the version in the thread I linked (official MIUI forum) or you'll get a TWRP where the touchscreen doesn't work and you can't confirm

Things have changed, most people did this a year ago when there was no EU ROM, just China ROM and vendor ROM, most came with bootloader unlocked, which is the first thing you should of checked. The fact you have EU ROM would normally mean that bootloader has been unlocked but sometimes they re-lock the device.

Yeah... so that's what I meant. Even more confused now. My phone is definitely locked (checked with bootloader) and after I tried to apply again after 24 hours the weird chinese message pops up again and the application fails.

Did you check using fastboot if your already unlocked,
fastboot OEM device-info
Assuming you have your pc set up which is the guides section.

So now I'm getting this message in the unlock-programm when it finishes:
"Couldn't unlock - After 59 hours of trying to unlock the device"
What does that mean?

Are you still using your friends computer, maybe you are still blocked on your own. O and real friends aren't allowed on XDA.?

Factory reset? It can't be broken, careful you don't kill it completely. Did you use the correct tool from miui.eu?

Just a quick follow up:
I waited 59 hours and now I could successfully unlock the phone. Will proceed now with TWRP. Yey.
