Hi all,
My gf got rid of her S3 yesterday after lots of problems and upgraded to the S4 Active on Voda UK. Great phone so far, but she's having a weird problem where on reboot or shutdown it takes well over 2 minutes to actually power off. The screen goes black as usual, but the notification light pulses blue until it finally vibrates and powers off. It starts up in what seems a normal amount of time.
Has anyone else found this issue or know what it might be?
The phone itself is completely stock and nothing untoward appears to be running in the background which might be blocking the powerdown.
Thanks in advance

Hey guys, I was wondering if somebody would be able to maybe help me diagnose the fault\problem part with my non-working diamond...
Basically I went to a club one night and the place was unbelievably steamy / humid. My phone was working one minute and then the next it wouldnt display anything on the LCD. The backlight was working however.
Since then I havent been able to get an image on the screen although when trying to turn it on, it seems to go through its startup sequence (backlight -> vibration -> beep (i think))
I havent had any power to the phone since a day after it broke (a few weeks ago).
I'd like to get it back working again but dont know exactly what part i would need to replace. I'm fairly competent with electronics .
Any help/advite would be appreciated!
Haha, ok that's odd...
I've plugged it into my pc to get some data files off about an hour ago.. forgot about it and just looked at it now and the screen is displaying!
It is displaying and accepting input although it was flickering at first (like pixel shifting). but i pressed the power button to standby the screen and pressed it again and the display is fine with no flickering ?
Ive moved the phone about and shook it quite hard to see if there's any loose connection but the display still seems fine..
Anybody have any ideas as to what it may be?
I'm not going to deem it as fixed until I know what the problem was/is lol
cheers guys
Ok screen actually keeps flickering nonstop, and sometimes 'fades away' to gray/white/black
comes back after a few seconds though
Looks like a faulty connector?
So within the last two days I have been having problems with my phone coming out of sleep mode, just to give a little more information when i hit the power button to turn the screen on and go to unlock it, the screen doesn't respond and fades back out. The task bar stays on at the top for about 10 seconds as well. SOMEONE please help lol. I've only had this phone for about a week and this is very frustrating. (phone is rooted btw)
Thanks in advance
If you're having touchscreen malfunctions, then you should exchange it. You've had it one week, you can do that. I will say though, the screen timeout for the lock screen is 5 seconds long. As in, when I wake my phone if I don't touch it, five seconds later it fades out again. It sounds like you're having more serious issues however mentioning the notification bar staying on the screen like that. I recommend you look into exchanging it. Make sure you restore it and unroot it before you do that.

I was just wondering if anyone had these issues, it didn't appear to do it the first couple days I had it, and I've installed a ton of apps since then. I un-installed some things today and it seems to have subsided, i'm still wondering if anyone else has had problems like this. It may have had to do with a task manager, but i can't be sure. Any insight is appreciated.
Hey guys
I have my note for around 3 weeks now. I experience the purple screen twice.
so basically out of no where, the screen will turn really purple like. but the problem is fixed after i restart the phone.
not super concern about it, but just want to know if this is a bad sign that the phone will die on me?
thanks!
Ive had this experience on my Galaxy S1 and S2 I get a quick flash of either green or red color then everything is back to normal.. happend once or twice on my Galaxy S1 for owning it for a year and maybe more than 3 times on the S2 for 3 months.
It's a software bug, and i guess it'll get patched sooner or later by Samsung, but no i do not have any problems with the screen.
I've had it once Was more blueish tho. Just turned the screen off and on again (IT Crowd ) and it worked just fine after (I freaked out at the time tho).
Only once. Screen turned blueish upon waking up of device.
Yes, it happened to me too. Turned blueish when turned on but returned to original when hitting the power button. Thank god it's a software bug rather than hardware.
Hello,
I have had noticed this for a while but though it was normal. Till I am starting to notice that it is taking the GNote screen longer and longer to "warm up".
What is happening is when I leave the GNote in deep sleep for a while (the longer i keep it in deep sleep the longer it takes to warm up) and then wake it up, I get a green screen, but after a few seconds the green colouring will slowly fade away until it is back to normal.
If I put the note to sleep and open it back up in about 2-5 seconds, it will wake up perfectly fine but as soon as I start leaving it in sleep mode for about 5 mins, I can start noticing the green tint when waking it up. When I wake it up after 5 mins, it takes about 1 second to get back to normal, when when I leave it for a good 3 hours, it takes about 5-6 seconds before the screen return to normal.
I just want to know if this is "normal" as I can not find any thread on this forum or in google about this. None of my friends has this phone so I am unable to check theirs. Sorry about the long explanation, I just want to make sure you guys know what I am talking about.
Nope....that doesnt sound right....ive had my phone 4 a month now and cant say i saw ths issue....sounds like a faulty screen to me.
If ur on warranty....ask 4 a replacement. If not, try changing the rom.
I tried a number of things to see if it fixes the problem. I first tried using the K7 deodexed rom, then I tried changing the kernel to Abyss. Now I am running Rocket ROM with Abyss 3.5b.
But I do remember that I didn't have this problem in the first week. I think I started noticing this after I rooted my phone when it was on XKK9 but I wouldn't think rooting my phone would cause something like this unless it was just coincident.
I guess no one has any idea why this might be happening. I might send an email to Samsung and see what they think.
Hi all. Got my first ATIV S Neo with Sprint a couple weeks ago, had graphical corruptions, and random reboots, replaced it for another.
This one works much better, but there are some issues I'm seeing (nitpicking?) and I'm not sure if I have another defective handset or if this is just WP8, or if this is common to just this handset. Came from an HTC arrive on WP7.5 and things were pretty stable.
1) Occasional live tile animation stuttering; If I, for instance, go into the messages hub, sometimes the live tile swing animation will lock for half a second and then immediately pop into the message hub. Happens loading other apps too.
2) Occasional lock screen weirdness;
2a) very rare; press power button, screen comes on, screen fades out like the phone lost power but not to backlight, then backlight shuts off, pressing the power button again, everything works fine.
2b) occasional; in a dark room, press the power button to wake to lock screen, press again to turn off. screen/backlight goes out, backlight comes back, then goes out, then quickly comes back and back out.
3) in IE, typing in the address bar, text input freezes as it brings up suggestions from bing. (type "google.com" and get "gole.com"). disabling search suggestions makes it go away.
4) Text notifications stop working; sometimes the text notification sound stops playing (vibrate remains working). Reboot corrects it. Have also had it where the vibrate alert goes away and not the sound.
Anyone else seeing these? Are these known or is this phone also messed up?
Haven't seen those on my (open-market GSM) ATIV S, but there were a handful of glitches when I first got the phone. Those were corrected in the first big fiormware update from Samsung in my case, but I had to wait a few months for it.

Thanks, that makes me feel a little more comfortable. These problems really don't feel like hardware to me, since they're fairly infrequent. I might have to stop by the sprint store and test the display model out a little.
