Flash a i9000 rescue kit from My Android Collection or a solution from My Android Solutions Flashing guides in My Guides and Manuals
Unbricking i9000 step by step
If you have download mode, you are on the safe side.
Just flash any stock ROM now here just one example how you can do it (my little step-by-step guide):
Before you start, make sure:
- that the driver of your phone is properly installed on your PC
- Samsung Kies is not active (make sure it doesn't work in the background / kill it in the task manager)
- download Odin 1.82 or earlier (don't use later Odin versions as they like to freeze by unbricking the i9000)!!
1. Download the PIT file for your i9000 (s1_odin_20100512.pit) from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29480333
2. Download stock ROM fitting the region of your device, here you can get for instance stock Froyo 2.2.1 ROMs:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1647890
The downloaded file must be unzipped, best by using 7-Zip
After unzipping, you will have THREE files (with adjective PDA, Phone and CSC)
3. Run now Odin 1.82 as administrator(!)
- PIT: the file downloaded in step 1 (it will automatically check the "re-partition, don't change it)
- under PDA, PHONE, CSC choose the unzipped 3 files from step 2
- run your i9000 in download mode with 3-button-combo
- connect it now to your PC (all three options will be checked: Re-Partition, Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time)
- Odin must show now <Added!> in lower left field and ID:COM will display port number in upper left field in yellow color (if it doesn't appear, stop here and install again Samsung mobile driver on your PC)
- if <Added!> and ID:COM port number are there, click on "Start"
- take your beer, wait until Odin finishes the work, your system will reboot and you will get stock ROM with Froyo 2.2.1
4. Root:
- enable USB debugging in your new stock Froyo 2.2.1 phone under: Applications/Development
- download SuperOneclick by Shortfuse and unzip it with 7-Zip
- connect your i9000 now with your PC and wait until it is recognized (sound for "new hardware")
- run now (unzipped!) Superoneclick as administrator and click (on the left) the big button "Root"
- if SuperOneclick asks to install Busybox, do it
- if the Superoneclick wants to run the test, you can do it but you don't have to do it, sometimes it just freezes...
Your i9000 is rooted now
Check the root status with some root-checker app
After this, you can flash whatever: now you only need to install the CWM recovery (or flash via Odin some kernel that already features the CWM recovery, like SpeedMod kernel or so)
And be always very careful, before you flash anything new, read, read, read or ask wise people. Learn before and never flash anything that doesn't fit your device or ROM. Also never try to restore nandroid image done with different kernel, different CWM recovery version or different ROM than one you're currently running before you are 100% sure that all is compatible.
Thanks

Great! Don't worry if SuperOneClick angers, there are also other methods. Remember that in superoneclick phone doesn't visibly appear like in Odin, that's why I wrote you to 1: connect phone, 2: listen after the PC sound of "new hardware detected", 3: after you hear it 4: start SuperOneClick and 5: just press "root".
There you go
p.s. and click "thanks" beyond my post if you find it helpful
How To Guide ... Below if its any use
Thanks again
Didnt use superoneclick found the correct rooted kernal and use odin, It rooted OK. And thanks again for your help

Congratulations! I'm glad for your i9000.
One can root it on many ways, I've suggested you just one of them. It is normally safer way first to root and afterwards to flash the kernel.
Help me unbrick an i9000
My friend purchased a used Galaxy S i9000 from eBay, it had gingerbread and everything was working fine. He then decided to install some Custom Rom on it and he screwed everything up and brought to me a bricked Galaxy S.
The phone now has a clockwork recovery which does nothing, I've tried doing everything from it. I tried to wipe cache, repartition, toggle USB, install from zip for trying a stock zip rom. Nothing works clockwork recover keeps giving errors about missing data/recovery files. Odin does not detect the phone in Download Mode.
I then googled more and came across Heimdal 1.3.1, I searched and found out some heimdal packages. I did the Zadig driver which shows the phone as "Gadget Serial" but the driver gets successfully installed in Win 8. I then fired Heimdall selected the "XWJVZ_heimdall.tar.gz" file and pressed the Start button in Flash after ticking Repartition, This is what I get :
Initialising connection...
Detecting device...
Claiming interface...
Setting up interface...
Checking if protocol is initialised...
Protocol is not initialised.
Initialising protocol...
Handshaking with Loke...
Beginning session...
Session begun with device of type: 0
Uploading PIT
ERROR: Failed to send file part packet!
PIT upload failed!
Ending session...
ERROR: Failed to send end session packet!
...... and again when I press the Start button, this comes:
Initialising connection...
Detecting device...
ERROR: Failed to retrieve config descriptor
Can Someone help Unbrick this device?
Thanks in Advance

Haris

It seems like the wrong re-partition has been done by your friend. Unbricking should work easy, look up on this page my post#3 (17th Aug) and go step by step, it should unbrick it. I hope it will help once again....
Before start, first check if you can reach download mode, like this:
remove the battery
now keep power button pressed for one minute without the battery (reset)
insert battery and try 3-buttons combo for download mode (volume down & power & home buttons)
if you can reach it, remove battery again, then just go like in upper post, find ROM for your region. Those ROMs get flashed with PIT file which makes proper re-partition again and after it you should have good working stock i9000. Then you can root it and flash whatever you want. Insert battery again short before start, when Odin is already prepared with files, because i9000 likes to "asleep" if download doesn't start soon after entering the download mode.

Thank you for your support. I tried what you said but still was unsuccessful on my computer. I then redownloaded the drivers transferred your files and the drivers to a fresh Win 7 32bit PC and Odin detected the phone
I was able to unbrick using your files and the stock rom... seems Win 8 64bit was causing problems here.

Hi, i'm noob in Galaxy Flashing so this is my problem:
I have a Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 blocked from italian carrier.
Few times ago i tried to enable 3-buttons download/recovery mode installing Aries_P-SBL.tar.md5 with Odin. The installation finished successfully but the download/recovery mode still didn't work.
After some reboots (where the phone worked right), now the phone stucks in the boot screen (the one with Galaxy S GT-I9000 SAMSUNG).
With the JIG i can enter download mode but my computer can't detect the phone (Windows feels my USB connection but Odin does not detect it).
If i connect the phone to the computer in normal mode (not in download mode, so with stuck screen), Kies can detect the phone but says that it can't talk with phone in this way(like if it was in USB Debug mode).
I Hope someone can help me
Restart your computer>>>Go to task manager and close all Kies applications (I usually have 2 Kies running from startup)>>>Start Odin and select all the files>>>Put your phone into download mode and connect>>>It should be detected now.
If it is still not detected, close odin, disconnect phone. Start Kies go to tools and install drivers. Once this is complete. Close Kies and start from the top of this post...restart...
Solution Is HEIMDALL.....
Here Comes your solution:
You can easily back your phone with Heimdall.
It's a flashtool which is more complicated than ODIN.
If interesting, simply PM me and we will do it.
I'm Here...
Well,first go to here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755265
Second: Download 7-zip PC software & extract your official md5 firmware to obtain several other files.
Third:Search the web for a Heimdall How-To(if you didn't find,I'll provide You links)
Last:You'll flash the firmware via Heimdall & again your peace of mind will be back.
Try to reflash your phone normaly with another Rom, it should work

Sorry, your advice didn't work, Odin still doesn't detect the phone
Try to change the USB port and install ONLY the phone driver -if you don't find you can contact me.

I don't understand, your download mode works?
Sent from my Galaxy S with ICS 4.0.4 (Italy)
he said download mode works but odin cant detect the phone .
Try reinstalling the samsung usb drivers and/or try from another pc and see if it shows the same thing (meaning nothing) .
Hi,
sorry but i tried all the ways, Odin and Heimdall.
I tried Odin on Windows and Heimdall on MacOSX but always they say
"Failed to detect compatible download-mode device."
I'm sure that phone is in download mode
May i install drivers on OSX with Heimdall?
I have not original samsung USB cable, but i think this is not a problem
Rooted my GT-I9000, and now it has crashed!
First off all my Galaxy I9000 was trying to software update via Kies, and it failed. The it would not start, but i managde to root it with a stock "VOD" rom.. But after a while i wantet to root it back to "Nordic Version"... But i could not do this, because the 3 button combo dont work on my Galaxy I9000 anymore.. :/ So there for i baought a USB JTAG, that puts it into download mode. So far, So good But when it is finished rooting, it fails to mount/unmount a bunch of stuff.. I have a picture of the screen, so that you guys can se what the problem is. I have tryed to root it with the same version that worked before, but it dont work. I have also tryed with som pit files, and so on... I give up, i need help with my Samsung Galaxy S - GT-i9000. Please help me out with this..
Getting Hopeless...?
1)For you to become sure,my Galaxy S Aka I9000 was exactly the same as yours and right now there is nothing wrong with that of course after flashing by HEIMDALL.
2)Remember,if your are going to do anything,Your first and your last key,is your HOPE so be so hopeful and let's start to get over this.
3)Download I9000 USB driver from here and simply install it on WINDOWS OS.
http://hotfile.com/dl/48893334/93383a1/I9000_USB_driver.rar.html
4)Before Using Heimdall, Enter it's folder and you'll see another sub folder called driver and you'll see just ONE executable program, run it and follow these instructions:
(I'll Shortly Provide You A How-to)
5)Enter Heimdall and follow these instructions:

generally no, but I recommend strongly to try another micro USB-Cable & another USB Port!
No one of these method does work for me,
any suggest?? my main problem is that the pc does not detect the phone when it's in download-mode. I know how to flash it, but there is not a program that can talk with it!

Hi, changing computer worked. I tried on OSX and didn't work, on Windows 7 on VMware Fusion and didn't work. After all, i tried on a laptop with Windows XP and it solved my problem. Now i get a mobile network error, with one carrier it works and with another it does not. The mobile network detected is always really low.
Hi !
I have a european GSM Galaxy Tab (GT-P1000) with Gingerbread and it seems that I just bricked it... Let me explain :
- I have a Mac, so I rooted it using adb and the Terminal, following the DooMLoRD's method. This worked fine.
- I applied the bootloader patch found here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888071
(to make it short : the (french) tutorial I followed did not say that it wasn't suppose to work on Gingerbread, so I did it...and it failed).
- But at the moment the Tab was still working ! It was showing a "rainbow" screen before boot and was recognized by my computer as" 7 CDCs" which was totally useless. Here is the rainbow screen :
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
But it was able to boot. I found someone with the same problem in the bootloader patch thread and people answered him to flash it with Odin. So I installed VirtualBox and succeded to use Odin (1.7).
- The Galaxy Tab in Download Mode wasn't recognized by Odin at all, although I installed Samsung's drivers. Heimdall was able to install the drivers for the Tab but the .pit file download failed. So I did nothing wrong with Odin or Heimdall since I did nothing at all.
- And yesterday, the Tab was plugged in the computer, in Download Mode, and it switched off definitely. When I plug it in using the USB charger, this image blink slowly :
It can't boot in any mode. I tried pushing the power button for 30+ seconds, tried Power + Volume Up, Power + Volume Down, it doesn't work. I let it plugged in the whole night to see if it's not a "coma brick" (like said on the "unbrick the GTab thread", it keeps blinking. Trying to boot while plugged in doesn't work and it's not recognized by the computer. I haven't found any answer to this precise problem on the forum so I finally decided to ask.
Here are my questions :
- what is happening (so that it doesn't happen again) ?
- can I fix it and how ?
Thank you in advance
PS : my english may not be perfect, sorry. I'm french and I do my best

Thank you for your answer ! Sadly my Tab isn't recognized by the computer (Heimdall can't detect any device in download mode). The image only show when it's plugged in the wall.
EDIT : there is something new ! Now the Tab stopped blinking and show the image I posted before when I plug it in the wall. I can unplug it, the image stay, so I guess it lauches a kind of download mode... However Heimdall on Mac still can't find it. I need to try with a PC.
EDIT 2 : it blinks again. Wut.

Hey. I got the same problem as you thanks to some user here named "cx5" and his stupid misleading instructions that got my tab bricked.
Anyway, i finally found a awesome application that managed to unbrick my tab. Yeah it's ALIVE!! back again Not sure if this will work on your tab but IF you are interested and decided to take a risk then go http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1153310 and download OneClickUnbrick then connect your Tab to your PC using USB. and leave it there and wait for 20 Minutes it will turn on during that time and quickly click unbrick button on the application then select List All Devices then click the Samsung USB port that you connected your tab at, Wait awhile for installing Driver, after installing completed click unbrick button again. let me know if this works for you too.
Thank you !

Hmm.. Actually, i meant i am stuck in Phone ! Computer screen and can't do anything about it which is same as you. i am not sure how do fix this rainbow screen you're getting. i guess wait for priyana reply. since he is experienced with galaxy tabs. the method above is to fix soft bricked.
You are right that rainbow screen is caused by boot loader patch.
Just use the gbstock safe from overcome. It has GB bootloader.
Follow my signature for the link.
There is the guide in pdf but for Odin.
If you can get it to work with Odin, jump to page 7 of the guide,
And flash according to the picture.
In completion it will reboot.
I did write about using heimdall command line somewhere.
Just search the forum.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using xda app-developers app
Thank you again !
So :
- the Tab is booting again but show strange lines when it boots
- the computer don't see it : Odin don't work, Heimdall seems to fail when trying to flash a zImage, and heimdall-frontend fail at downloading .pit file
Any help ?
I don't know if virtual box work.
In my experience it never works for me.
Try get a fresh PC.
Btw, you can try boot to safe mode (windows) and remove the USB driver for the tab.
And reinstall the driver from GB stock safe.
BTW also, pit file doesn't matter, I think. Boot loader is boot.bin and Sbl.bin
They both can be flashed via heimdall without pit file, you care to try?
But this is the most dangerous operation. Of all flashing, flashing bootloader is one that will kill a tab, as you have found yourself by patching a GB boot loader.
I guess if nothing works, you try heimdall command file with the boot loader part.

Ok, I'll try with Heimdall command line. Thank you ! I'll give some news later, if that worked or not.
EDIT : So, first I tried to flash the GB Stock rom with command line. It worked fine, but it didn't fix my problem. Since there was nothing else to do, I flashed the booloader files of the GB stock rom (with heimdall command line, again) and I don't know what I have done wrong, but it failed and the Tab looks dead. Doesn't boot, even after a night plugged in the wall. I guess there's nothing I can do, now ?
Sorry to hear that.
I don't know why it got to this stage.
Can you do the oneclickunbrick again?
Plug to PC for at least 20min and see if it comes alive like before?

No it doesn't work. I think I did something wrong and only flashed the primary bootloader... I tried plugging it to the PC but it doesn't work anymore. I think it's over maybe some people I know will be able to help me doing hard stuff to fix it, I hope.
just out of curiosity,
what command was it that you issued to flash the bootloaders?
Same problem I have now the blinking while charging in the main supply. After trying some restocking on my GT-p1000 and always fail using Odin and other guides, now I can't open my tab but when I plug it in the main charger it shows warning link between phone and computer. Then afterwards, after I left it charging for 30mins. My tab now just blinking while the charger is on. Its just keep on blinking with warning link phone and computer showing.
Any same problems? What should I do. I waited and charged it for almost 4 hours, still its blinking.
Try OneClickUnbrick
I tried now OneClick and then after that my tab stuck in the samsung logo and can't turn off via button. Computer can recognize the tablet but it is not in the download mode.
~Now I turned it off. Charging it to full. Hopefully after charging it Odin will now work. Cause it always fail in movinand flash. I followed all the instruction using overcome and safe flash.
now I can access download mode but odin can't recognize the tab.
I am out of idea.
The most recent case I read of this, was fixed by removing and reinstalling the USB driver for the samsung device.
I personally use linux. And heimdall seems to always able to reach my tab.
I suspect the OneClickUnbrick's heimdall driver (zadig) is obscuring your tab from Odin.
Reinstall the USB driver again
Hello.
I recently installed CM10.1.3 on my GT-I9000 running stock GB. I did everything according to the instructions (though, mind you, this was not my first time installing a ROM just the first time on this device).
When I booted and tried to set up a CM account it gave me a message saying "Insert SIM card". I tried installing the kernel again, as well as installing other ROMs (AOKP mostly).
Nothing seems to work. It will simply not recognize my SIM.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

since its the first time on this device, can you check IF sim card is inserted in the correct direction
Check this out! You , YES! you are an " Android ". Not your phone but U.
Yes. It is.
Might be also worth mentioning that I tried it with a few different cards, all of which work with other devices, and not with this one.

you can try taking it back to stock ROM , you can follow this but it sounds like you may have hardware problem, if that fails as sim contacts can get broken or damaged too and can be replaced. so best to test with Stock ROM to check if its a software or hardware problem. also try to flash without SIM card and insert after flashing and first boot.

For a clean install and root, flash JVU ROM and its CF_root, as it is easy and problem free. I never had any problem with JVU
The whole procedure is given below
FLASHING JVU ROM WITH ODIN v1.85:
1. Install USB drivers for i9000 on PC (ignore if already installed) and restart computer to take effect
2. Turn off your phone and put it in download mode
by holding VOL DOWN+MENU+POWER
Do you get the Yellow Triangle?..If so
continue..if not do it again...
3. Plug in Phone with USB Cable To Computer.
4. In ID:COM it should go yellow and you should see
ADDED in the message box
5. Check Re-Partition option and then Click PIT
button to select: s1_odin_20100xxx.pit file.
6. Click PDA button and select :
CODE_I9000XXJVU_xxxxx.tar
7. Click PHONE button and select:
MODEM_I9000XXJVU_xxxxx.tar
8. Click CSC button and select:
GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJVU.tar
9. When you have all the files needed in ODIN,
Click Start and let it Run
10. Once complete you will see S logo on phone
(computer will make a few noises like connect/
disconnecting
11.Unplug the Cable to the Phone
You will see your phone working excellent. Now it's time for rooting
Procedure for rooting:
1. Power Off Phone
2. Download CF-Root kernel first.
Unzip the file to a folder. You
will get the .tar file – CF-Root-
XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-CWM3RFS.tar
— inside the extracted folder. DO NOT extract
the .tar file (even if you see it as a zip
file, which it is not). You need to flash
the .tar file using Odin to gain root
access and install the ClockworkMod
Recovery (CWM) alongside. If you’re
getting zimage file, it means you’ve
extracted the .tar file too! — and that’s
not a right thing to do.
3. Boot your phone in Download Mode —
Press and hold volume down+HOME
+POWER keys together.
4. Open Odin now. Connect your phone to PC now. You’ll notice “Added! !” message in the Odin’s message box in the bottom left.
5. On Odin, click the PDA tab and select the .tar file you got in step 2 — CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVU_2.3.6-v4.3-
CWM3RFS.tar
6. Make sure “Re-Partition” checkbox is not selected. Leave the “Auto Reboot” and “F. Reset Time” checkboxes selected.
7. Click the Start button on Odin to flash the CF-Root kernel. After the CF Root is installed, phone will restart automatically. When you see the PASS written in top left box, you can remove the cable.
8. Your phone is rooted now. That surperuser app is there! The CWM app is also there, and
clockworkmod based recovery has
been installed too. Now you enter the custom ROM world without worries. Enjoy!

But the hardware was functioning perfectly well before I flashed. Why would flashing a ROM damage my SIM contacts? (or any hardware, for that matter)?

I assume you have a software issue, that's why I asked you to revert to Stock ROM after you confirmed the SIM card was not inserted the wrong way round. , only IF the sock ROM also gave you that result than you need to consider hardware, as I have not heard of anyone having this issue after flashing CM 10.
AS for PIT file its in 4Shared site, all they would require is you should be a member and register with them ( you can do that with any name and password) the ROM site is FileRio, there you should only use free download button , clicked a number of times ( same button) for download to begin, both uploads were by me, so its virus free. I will upload pit file to the thread asap as its very small file.
EDIT: already uploaded PIT File to thread uploaded 3 PIT files in a package used for i9000, only use 512

One more problem, and it's a big one:

What can I do to make it realize that it's there?

the guide to solve such problems is right on top (begining) of that thread
Note:- It's assumed that you can and know how to connect your Phone to PC with USB cable . If you do not know, first install Samsung USB drivers on your PC/Laptop, than enable USB debugging on your phone by settings menu>Developer options> tick USB Debugging. After this use only Samsung USB cable and plug it into your phone micro USB port and to your PC USB Port. ( Always use the Back USB port on PC as some ports may not connect well enough for flashing ROM's. )
If unable to connect your phone to PC for any reason, refer to this guide

I tried everything in that guide, and it still the same.
Might be worth noting that the computer totally does recognize the device. I mean, I can access the internal SD from the computer, when the phone is on. It's just that when I connect it in download mode, Odin doesn't respond.
Might also be worth to stress that I used Heimdall to flash the recovery, when I did it. Could it be related to why I can't use Odin now?
And another thing regarding my main issue - could the "Insert SIM" message be a modem thing?
The password for XXJVU is samfirmware.com
If you are still unable to open this, then download XXJVU by Google searching and then try. This is the best way to get rid of the problem.
If you are able to go to download mode, install USB drivers for Samsung and restart PC . Now exit the Kies program and its related services from your PC. If you are using windows, you may find the tray icon and exit by right clicking. Now run Odin and flash.
If you are not able to go to download mode then search "homemade usb jig" and use the jig method described in those threads.
I'm trying to download the XXJVU again. Will see how goes.
I am able to go to download mode. So that's not it. I also don't have Kies installed on my computer, so that's also not it. I installed a few different Samsung drivers, and did the whole process a few times. The computer always recognizes the phone, but Odin doesn't.
I don't get why I can't delete stuff, if I accidentally posted twice. Anyway - feel free to disregard this one. Sorry for spamming..
OK. Managed to open the XXJVU.
Still have the problem with Odin not paying attention to my phone being there. Do you think it might be a problem with dl mode, that I should try fix with a jig (the phone does act LIKE it in dl mode - yellow triangle and all...)?

You seem to be having strange problems. I assume you pressed the correct combo keys ( as shown in image on that thread) and you did not get download mode ( this could be due to ) you don't have an i9000 but a different version of Galaxy S? or your keys are not functioning or you have a wrong bootloader
so use this methods & tool from PC to boot into download mode after you are sure you have an i9000 international version by checking under the battery. just to give you an idea , read this
Odin will only connect when phone is in Download mode, so as you mentioned you have NO problem with drivers and PC, its only your phone not being able to enter download mode.

I will try the ADB solution tomorrow. But doesn't the fact that the phone displays the download mode screen say that it is indeed in that mode? (because it does display it, as I mentioned above). I mean - is it possible that the phone seems like it is in download mode, when it's actually not?
Thanks!

hmm, i got the impression that you are not getting the download mode display , if it does than it is in download mode, so now you need to check your Odin3 download, what version are you using , try and download again and always use fresh Odin3, meaning, if it had a problem or even when no problem restart it a fresh. And best install Samsung USB drivers again ( link on that thread), if that did not solve it.
Check this out! You , YES! you are an " Android ". Not your phone but U.
I tried both versions that from here (i.e. v1.83 and v1.85). I'm not really doing anything else with Odin, so there's nothing to restart.
I also tried uninstalling and installing the drivers a few times, using a few different installation files, and by letting windows figure out on its own which drivers to install.
Non of it changed the result.

MAN did you installed driver as i said? when its showing Samsung USB comosite device --> flash stock rom with odin. S5300 Stock firmwares make sure to have your region
Your phone has to b connected in "download" mode (by pressing the 3 button combo)
If you cant enter download mode? release battery and connect phone to pc with usb cable then press Vol- and home and power and put back in battery while. Your computer should get the device.
you flash stockrom using odin.
Sry for that complicated chat, but its not that easy using a browser based chat for that. Also you got more then 1 person tell what to do. Seems not workin that good...
So if something is still not cleat, may be install GTalk for easier chat or teamviewer that i can "show" what i mean.
regards
no luck

Sry for that complicated chat, but its not that easy using a browser based chat for that. Also you got more then 1 person tell what to do. Seems not workin that good...
So if something is still not cleat, may be install GTalk for easier chat or teamviewer that i can "show" what i mean.

sorry for responding late i tried all that you said but no luck.
i am beginning to suspect it is the problem of the cable or of the phones jack
Hey ,
Just install Kies and uninstall that USB driver . Download files exept .pit and try again . If boot is force closing , go to recovory mode . It should work . Worked in my case
Sent from my GT-S5300 using xda app-developers app

I had gone on a long trip on my way back I also bought an USB cable then it worked perfect ,and I flashed stock Rom with Odin. Alright
Thanks
Now I have a new query can I upgrade my galaxy pocket to jelly bean.
Please help
I've been searching XDA & Google for about 1 month but can't find a solution. I don't know why everywhere in some threads whenever somebody asks the same problem there's no reply to that question. So I decided to post this question here to try my luck...
Problem & History:
I tried to root my Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000R with DoonLord V_4, it couldn't root it but left the tab with touch problem then I tried to root it with famaroot various versions, I then again tried to root it with z4root V_1.3.0, all attempts were useless, I don't know which attempt of them, made my tab unable to connect to pc even in download mode.
When I set my tab to connect to Kies or Media it shows that it's connected but PC doesn't detect it. Please help...
Tab Specification:
Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 (Rogers)
Firmware Version: GB 2.3.6
Baseband Version: P1000XXJR2
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7 ([email protected] #2
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.XXJU2

Thanks for your reply but I have already gone through this post but as I mentioned problem is that PC doesn't detects it even when I put the Tab in DL mode. Is there any method to root it? So that I could use Mobile Odin to restock it.
It is an usb-driver problem and not rooting, I'm 99% sure of it. It's the PC that HAS to find the Tab first.
Hmmmm

I've tried on another PC and with another USB cable but in vain. Other Smartphones connect it without any problem.
Any smartphone or the P1000 are not the same. I have had on multiple occasions that even Samsung Kies did not recognise it and had to reinstall Kies. Same for the Samsung Mobile phones drivers. And don't forget to reboot your PC after installing drivers.
Keep on trying because it is still going into download mode and logic tells it should be accessible. Does the PC give a notification like driver not found or similar?
NO.

No. There's no activity in PC when I connect it. It neither shows new hardware found nor any other notification like unrecognized device etc.
BTW I have reinstalled Kies, updated it, uninstalled it, installed separate drivers for Samsung USB but no gain...
One last option, let the battery become completely empty (0% charge). Recharge and try again, it rescued my tab once after a bad flash.
That is to my knowledge the last resort.
Alas!

What version of windows are you on? Because windows 8 is a *****, Vista or 7 should work.
(Or GNU-Linux). And have you tried Heimdall already? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1323527
Heimdall download https://code.google.com/p/heimdall-one-click/downloads/list
Get a stock ROM and how to use Heimdall (these are old instructions so there could be newer versions available).
-----------Heimdall install instructions ------------------
1. Download Heimdall.
2. Download Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86) and install it. Download it here List All Devices.
5. From the USB Device list chose "Samsung USB Composite DEvice".
6. Press "Install Driver", click "Yes" to the prompt and if you receive
a message about being unable to verify the publisher of the driver
click "Install this driver software anyway".
7. Done. This only needs to be done once.
-----------How to use Heimdall-------------------------
1. Put your tab into download mode - Power off Tab, once powered down hold power and the volume down button at the same time. You will see a android digging.
2. Start Heimdall
3. Hook your tab up to your PC or MAC and you will see a progress bar. That must say Ready to get heimdall to work.
4. Find you Firmware and unzip it until you see the following files below.
(NOTE: when you first unzip your firmware it may unzip into a .tar file unzip the .tar file to get the files below.)
a. Zimage
b. FactoryFS.rfs
c. Param.lfs
d. Boot.bin
e. SBL.bin - not always included
f. cacher.rfs
g. dbdata
h. modem.bin - not always included
5. Place each of those files in their correct spot and hit start.
ONE BIG NOTE: if you use a PIT file do NOT select repartition. It might brick your tab as heimdall has a problem when selecting repartition w/ a pit file. It is ok to use the pit file just make sure repartition is unchecked.
(Use ODIN for repartition with pit)
Got it working...
Thanks buddy, I bought a half dozen of USB cables for the tab and got it working with one of them at last... I don't know but I thought it was the last way out to try different cables... And at last, I got it working after long...
Please let me know the correct way of rooting, as DoomLord v. 4 has already failed to root it. Please guide if possible... I have a Ragers (Canada) Tab. GT-P1000R
