I'm trying to install clockworkmod through odin and I cant find any downloads that work for the galaxy note t879. Anyone recently added cwm or twrp that works? Where did you get it from?
If you Google "twrp sgh-t879" the first result will be the twrp page for this phone. There will be three different ways to install listed. As well as download links for the files.

Thanks! I got twrp to work then I flashed cyanogenmod 10.1 and rebooted and now all it will do is show the cyanogenmod logo on the screen ??any suggestions?
Well dunno. How did you flash? Did you flash gapps as well? Did you wipe cache and dalvik after flashing but before rebooting?
It can take a loong time for the first reboot going from stock to custom ROM iirc.
usually takes about 5 mins to load and settle...I just installed 10.1 20130816-NIGHTLY-quincytmo on my note and so far everything works good...no reboots yet...this is what I did in TWRP...first I backed up my current rom (for safety) then I went to wipe and wiped system/factory reset/cache/delvik in that order....then I went to install so I flashed (in this order) darkside super swipe went to add zip and added the nightly rom then added gapps for 10.1 CM in CM website labeled gapps-jb-20130812-signed.zip and added zip file flash counter reset and install....after all that installs wipe cache/delvik and rebooted...I let it settle for about 5 to 10 mins and went on my way....idk if other guys do it differently but for me that worked....do some more research but try it like this...hope this helps....

I have CWM 4.00.15 installed and I tried to install Ryyu's Rom (Wipe) by putting it on the SD card and rebooting into recovery, then selecting the zip file and hitting apply. When the installation tried to update my kernel, it just froze and rebooted. I was then stuck on a boot loop between the Galaxy S screen and the CyanogenMod boot screen. I know that Ryyu's did not install correctly because the CyanogenMod boot screen was still there. I had to use 3 button recovery and erase cache, davlik cache and user data before trying to install AOSP Essence, but same problem happened. Installation dies and phone keeps rebooting in loops. Finally, gave up and went back to CyanogenMod Nightly and it worked.
Why can't I seem to install any other ROMs besides Cyanogen? I know I am doing something wrong, but not sure what. Any advice/help appreciated. Thanks.
Have you tried starting from a clean install?
Try starting with a stock rom and then to activate Cwm flash a modded Kernel.

Hi,
this is what I initially did to get Cyanogen on:
1. Used Superoneclick root to root phone
2. Check that 3 button recovery and download mode works. Recovery version was 3e, so installed superlagfix from android market. This automatically installed ClockworkMod Recovery as well.
3. Use CWM and flashed recovery for Samsung Galaxy S i9000
4. Reboot into recovery and select the CyanogenMod zip file and click apply to install.
To install subsequent ROMs, I just put the zip file on my SD card, reboot into recovery and repeat step 4 above, after clearing cache and user data. It is after that I get stuck on boot loops.
I did do a Nandroid backup before my initial Cyanogen install so I can go back and restore it, but it would be Froyo.
when coming from CM / MIUI - Samsung based ROM
you MUST flash a 3 file firmware with pit and re-partition.
Cyanogen and MIUI use different partitions than samsung ROMs so this is why you are having issues.
Ok, just managed to flash Darky's EE 10.2 using Odin. Not sure if Odin is the ideal way, but it worked. Really enjoying Darky's. Thanks folks!
hi
i have just install [ICS 4.0.4][AOKP-Milestone 5]Galaxian-Soup i have follow the: Installation:
*** You should be able to flash over previous builds, we have tested, if you have issues after, please try a wipe/re-flash ***
In CWM recovery, clear your data/factory reset
Clear the dalvik cache (under advanced, or under the wipe menu in overcome cwm)
Flash the provided zip using CWM recovery
Flash gapps from CWM recovery
Bootup and setup your Google account
OC if you want with ROMControl and set to interactive governor!
Give it a chance, this is a deodexed ROM and will boot slow the first time and when you use apps the first time.
now my tab stock on android half hour
i have wipe data cache and still on android what is the problem?
It sounds like you got a bad download or a million other things that could go wrong when flashing a new rom. Did you download to your pc and then copy to your tablet? Did you check the md5 before installing? If you didn't make a back up or dont have a known-to-b-good rom zip on your tab you will need to Odin a rom to get yourself up and running again. If you have a backup or a good rom install it. Download the new rom again, to your pc first, check the md5 to make sure you got a good download then transfer to your tab and install it. And if all else fails when installing factory wipe three times in a row, wipe cache three times in a row, wipe delvik three times in a row and install new rom three times in a row. It's an old trick that sometimes works. Hope this helps ^.^ and good luck to ya. Please hit the thanks button if this post helps ya. Still trying to earn my developement sections posting rights cause I'm a total n00b! XDA RULES!
Thanx i have return to hc 3.2 i flashed with odin and i download the ics agin and install it and is still the same stock on the android logo i well try the three time trick
Sorry for may bad english
have you updated your CWM to the latest version?
yes v5.5.0.4
Hi everyone. I'm new to the touch pad, but I have a lot of experience with the Epic4G from Sprint using CWM and flashing zip files. I have preware installed in my webos, and I have CM9 installed as well.
I've spent a few days reading threads here, but haven't been able to flash anything. I think I must be missing something.
Nothing happens when I flash zip files in CWM. I reboot to recovery, flash the zip file, wipe caches, but nothing is changed when I reboot the system. Been trying to install the unofficial with the working camera, and the oc kernel.
Thanks for any help.

Did you check md5s on the zips? Also, is your recovery updated?
As soon as I post a request for help, it works. Of course. Lol.
Yeah, I'm not sure what worked this time, but since I posted previously I set manual flash override in ROM Manager and installed the CM9 unofficial preview 7, the preview 9 update, and gapps, all went. I also installed the kernel that I mentioned, but it got stuck in a boot loop after and had to do the ROM over again.

So I have done the following steps:
Rooted my phone using Kingo root
Did a backup using Droidexplorer
Unlocked bootloader (check by entering secret menu)
Flashed CWM Touch recovery from their site for the LG Optimus 4x HD
Made a backup using CWM
Did a factory reset
Flashed Vanir 4.4 rom, I used the bottom one from here: http://www.emccann.net/nuclearmistake/VanirAOSPNightlies/p880/
Rebooted, did not get past LG logo after leaving for 15 minutes, removed and reinserted Battery
Rebooted into recovery wiped the cache and dalvik cache
Rebooted again and did not get past LG logo again after leaving for 15 minutes
I have no idea which Vanir 4.4 release is stable as the first post isn't updated here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2609285
I also cannot find a Vanir 4.3 release as the download points to the same page as the 4.4 version which only shows a limited amount of releases.
What is my next step?

I suggest using TWRP Recovery instead from Adams Omni thread, flash that like a zip in recovery and then re-reboot to recovery and load TWRP.
go to wipe>Advanced Wipe
And select cache, Dalvik Cache, System, and Data, and swipe to wipe them at the bottom.
Then go back to install, and find the Rom Zip and flash the Rom and then reboot, if it still isnt working, re-download the file, or choose a different rom and see if that one boots for you.
I don't think the recovery can be the problem here, so I would start with checking the download, and perhaps trying another ROM.

Its probably an outdated recovery version you're using I know that only twrp 2.6.3.0 and up support flashing KitKat Roms
don't forget to hit thanks!

If he was using an outdated recovery, in the case of CWM anything below 6.0.4.4, he wouldn't even be able to pass the installation as he would get a status 7 error. Since he got to the point where he was ready to boot, again I don't think it's the recovery's fault. But to clear things up, would the OP mind sharing his recovery version?
If you do want to stick with Vanir, another thing you could try is to flash a custom kernel on top of the ROM and see if it boots then. Good luck!

First off, I'm new here despite having visited this site many times before. Glad to be here!
So, I recently flashed CyanogenMod 12.1 to my Moto G (xt1045). It's worked well so far but my only issue is that I can't seem to get Gapps on my phone no matter how many times or ways I've tried. I've wiped the Dalvik cache, done a factory reset, adb side loading...pretty much everything, but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Does the developer recommend any gapps? Did you try these: http://opengapps.org/ ?
Flash through TWRP,in the upcoming menu you can chose which apps you´d like to have, which ones should be replaced etc. Wipe Cache/dalvik afterwards.
If you try to flash gapps what happens? Any error message? Just nothing?
Yes, the CyanogenMod site provided several links which I tried originally tried, and I also used your links but with no success. When the phone reboots, right after I swipe the lockscreen to unlock, I get a message that says "Unfortunately, Google Play Services has stopped working.". Sometimes it reappears several more times after I tap 'ok'.
I tried flashing Gapps using my first recovery which is CWM. When none of that worked I flashed TWRP, then restarted the whole process and still nothing. Does it make a difference that CWM was there first? Also, in TWRP I see no option for choosing which Gapps to be installed.
Normally you put the zip file with the Gapps on your SD card and when you push the "install"button in TWRP just scroll down until you find the zip and use the slider to flash them.
I don´t know your rom but often the procedure is to to factory reset and wipe the phone(Dalvik, Data, Cache and System), then flash the rom, wipe dalvik/cache and then let the phone boot one time. Skip all the steps in the setup process until you get to the homescreen, then reboot the phone into recovery again and flash the gapps. After that wipe cache/dalvik again and let the phone boot.
If you flash the gapps directly after the rom without rebooting there can be issues between sytem apps of the rom like for example playstore and playservices and the flashed Gapps.
Cool, I'll try that. I read somewhere to start with a clean slate ROM so I'm downloading CyanogenMod again. When it finishes I'll do what you suggested and report back.
