[Q] LG Thrill No Imei faulty modem - LG Thrill 4G

I bought this thrill on craigslist and it is well out of warranty so im stuck with a phone with no calling capabilities no IMEI and and unable to go into CP download mode when dialing in 3845*#925# ( i have done some research and found out there is most likely a corrupt baseband)
I have tried multiple times to "recover" the phone through the LG support tool... ive searched and found stock KDZ files tried to flash with LG flashtool (gets stuck on "trying to communicate with IFX modem) and another method using UpTestEX_mod2_marwin. processes stop at 15% except for the lg flashtool (doesnt even communicate with the phone although phone is detected and all driver for the phone are correctly installed) I HAVE TRIED 32 BIT WINDOWS 7 AND XP EVEN 64 BIT 7 WITH A SLEW OF DIFFERENT USB CABLES (NEW AND USED) SO IM SURE IT IS THE PHONE NOT THE COMPUTER ARE CABLES)
I had a problem where the phone did not power up UNLESS plugged into a wall charger and i had to hold down the VOL - and 3D button to get into recovery
when i follow the instructions for flashing cp with SMARTFLASH i cannot flash the CP i can however erase entire CP
so my question would be i need to flash a baseband (or try to at least) for V20P and find a bone stock v20p rom ZIP (cannot flash kdz files) but i have successfully rooted and tried CM10 and thrill seeker so i can try and flash a baseband through CWM OR if someone had made a back up to their phone (with all user data deleted of course) could they upload it (assuming the backup created through CWM backs up the baseband too correct?) if not can i ask someone to please point me into the the V20P baseband ZIP! or stock v20p rom
i have done my googling and it is very difficult to find anything on this problem that i have so if soemone is better at google than I please feel free to help me out
progress i have made
power up problem: fixed

I appreciate ANY help in advance thank you very much

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S - Buttons not working

Hello I am new here ;P
Yesterday my phone won't boot anymore so I kinda had a problem. The software I had installed was:
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/android-4-0-4-ics-for-galaxy-s-i9000/
I was trying to get my phone back working and looked up some guides online. I tried to use the same guide I used before ( up here) but that won't work. So I kept looking to get my phone back working and found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1300843
I picked this one:
I897UCKJ3 Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread
And just put my phone in download mode and installed it.
My phone booted again and I was able to use it but now I have some major issues..
- My home button is not working anymore.
- My back button works like a home button and closes all my apps
- The volume buttons don't work anymore
- When i plug it in my computer or the outlet to power it, it turns off. So I can't take things of it to my computer
Also my 3G isn't working anymore. I can't use it anymore now and I have no idea how to fix this :S IF anyone has a solution that would be great.
Otherwise I will try to bring it to the store..
Use this Odin or Heimdall i897ucKK4 One Click. It will do a full wipe and will get u back to Stock GB 2.3.5

Also I can't seem to charge my phone anymore and the battery is low atm..
U got a Jig ? If not, see my signature link below for a link on where to buy or how to make one.
U could also try to clean out the micro usb port and try a different cable.

Have you tried only using the down volume for recovery?
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda premium
Yep. Good call ko. .... Since he flashed i9000 firmware and it may have included bootloaders (i didn't look at the link that close)...
Download = power button and volume down together.
Recovery = power button and volume up together.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
If I hold the power button + volume down it shows me the At&T logo and then just starts up my phone without getting into download mode! :S
Try the above download method with ur phone powered off if u didn't already. If a no go then try below...
Open Odin or Heimdall (whichever u decide to use), Pull battery, replace it and cover, connect usb end of ur cable to the pc (not in a hub, but preferably a port in the back of the pc), hold both volume up and down together and then insert micro usb into phone. Does ur phone go into Download mode ? If so, proceed.

I'm gonna try what you said now
EDIT:
Okay I did what u said and my phone got into download mode!
I downloaded this file :
I897UCKK4 Odin One Click - Stock, CONTAINS Bootloaders, Re-partition, Full Wipe
And Odin found my phone and I pressed Start
It now says SetupConnection.. for about 5 minutes
How long do I have to wait?
If still no progress...U can stop Odin and completely start over as i outlined. Try a different port and/or different cable.

Be sure to have a constant power source and a reliable cable when flashin bootloaders. During the few seconds it takes to flash the boot.bin and sbl.bin, u don't want to loose power or usb/micro usb connection.

Okay I did that and I manged to install that one click i897uckk4.
It installed the new software and all my apps are gone again but still the home button is not working and the back button still closes all my apps.
And for future reference, once u have these bootloaders flashed that r included with the kk4, there should be no need to flash back to stock with bootloaders again. If u ever need to flash stock i897 firmware again, just use one without bootloaders.

Yes. That was a full wipe firmware.
Not sure why ur home button is not working and back button acts like home button ??? May be capacitive hardware issue ??

I have no idea why these buttons are doing so weird but I'm pretty sure it's not a hardware problem because only when I installed this they stopped working. Are there any other versions I can try like the one I had before or would that totally destroy my phone?
I was trying to follow this tutorial to get it back running again but since I couldn't get into download mode I never did that:
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/android-4-1-galaxy-s-i9000-install-remics-jb-rom/
Can I just follow that guide now or would that get into trouble with the stuff I just installed?
^
U don't need to flash that stuff in the guide u linked, because that is only for i9000.
There are other firmwares u can try to flash in that thread where the kk4 is located. Just use the ones without bootloaders.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
It now says:
"Firmware upgrade fail!
Try using recovery mode"
When I try to get it into download to install another version without bootloaders o;
Is there any way to just get it back to factory settings? I just want it to work that's all
Use that as a download mode screen.

Maybe that's why the buttons are not working?
Any idea what to install for the i9000?

There's isn't a ''Best'' Software per say. It goes to user preference but I highly recommend AOKP or AoCP (Both on Jelly Bean).

great, lg emergency recovery tool tells me this model is not supported for upgrading =.=
Similar problem, I was on Huexs´s 6.4, was rooted, recovery was working, then I flashed v30d by tantrums, was using it without problems, then some problems with sd card, from that point I am not able to run recovery, so I tried to flash patched v20 with Smartflash, but when it goes to rebooting, it always stay in bootloop. Only way for me is flash v30b, then root it with Unlockroot, but thats all, I can normaly use phone rooted, but I am not able to push to phone recovery image, so I can not flash any zip file ( like new kernels. etc.).
Managed to flash V30b
i managd to flash the v30b by the kdz updater but... Everything was working normally. I shut off the phone so i can go to sleep and i put it to charge. the picture i got is the lg logo with a white faint line down the bottom of the screen again. I unplug the charger and remove the battery. The next morning it worked perfectly again for aprox. 9 hours, that i was at school. Then i try texting my gf and the pictures below show what happened... WTH? Any help would be deeply appreciated :-/

@robusto try flashing v30B. then root your OB and flash TWRP recovery. You can do it like this:
1. Install goomanager
2. Open goomanager and provide root permision
3. Hit menu and choose 'Install OpenRecovery'.
Now you have TWRP Recovery and you should be able to flash any .zip file.
It worked for me.
(or you can get twrp recovery just by pushing the twrp recovery image file using terminal emulator).
Good luck!

Only I am not able change kernel, what could be phone speed up, but nevermid. I can live with it. Only can be good to convert some kernel.zip to same file, whitch can be flashed with kdz flasher or smartflashtool. Anyway thanks for ideas.

And may be is good to do it on PC with WIN XP. For me this is working better then on PC with WIN7. Good luck.

[Q] Kernel Error when trying to reach Android Recovery? Can boot normally though.

Model: LG-P880g (the Canadian model; originally from WIND Mobile)
Software: V09b (LG Updater thinks it's V09a, this was pre-release testing software, it never got flashed to release software)
I've been trying to work towards CM10.1 on this thing, I've rooted the phone, and I when I was trying to create a ROM backup using ClockworkMod, (ROM backup -> confirm, etc.) when it power cycles, I see the LG splash screen with:
[LGE_SECURITY] ERROR: boot image signature
Critical failure: Unable to start kernel.
Unrecoverable bootloader error (0x00000002)
And any attempt to enter Android Recovery fails and gives me the same result. However, by removing the battery, holding power, and reconnecting the battery, the device will power cycle twice, then go to the WIND splash screen and boot up normally. But still any attempt to reach Android Recovery puts me back in the same situation.
Is there any way to recover Android Recovery? Can I do it without risking a hardlock?

[Q] HELP!! Captivate Stuck on AT&T Boot Screen After ClockWorkMod Install

[Solved!]
Hey everyone!
I followed the Cyanogenmod guide from cm's website on how to install cm 10 on rooted att captivate from android 2.2 froyo.
I followed the guide exactly up to installing cwm recovery via heimdall on a windows 7 (heimdall wouldn't work on an xp I have so I switched to my 7) and everything worked as it said it would, however after finishing and getting the blue bar on the download mode screen, I held the vol up/down and pwr keys per the guide and the phone went to the att logo screen that it shows when you first turn it on and it just flashes that screen.
I can get into download mode still but it won't go into the options screen to hard reset or use cwm recovery.
I rooted it using the superoneclick method and I backedup with titanium.
I haven't been able to find anyone on xda or any other site with the same problem as me (everyone with a similar problem had a different version of android or something so I was afraid to try the solutions given for them.)
Please Help!! Thank you so much in advance!!

Once ya have the gb boots, there is no need to flash bootloaders again.

How long should/could it take Odin to detect/recognize my captivate? I couldn't wait to try the KK4 flash, but I've waited for about 10 minutes and it's not showing anything in Odin.:\
It should only take a few seconds.
See that Captivate - PC Connection Issues...thread i linked u to in my reply a few posts up.

Well I've been up all night lol but I got everything to work!! I guess it all just clicked with me and I understood and found all the answers in threads. THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Your link and Odin one click worked perfect. I think I had a problem with the drivers, that's why it wouldn't detect it. I read in another thread it could be that and I tried reinstalling the Samsung drivers but no luck. So I just switched to my windows xp where I'd never used heimdall drivers(I was on my windows 7) and did it on there, worked perfectly! I then went on to reinstall cwm and then cm 10.1.2 and I love it! Now I'm waiting for the Google play store .zip to download so I can flash it onto my i897! THANKS AGAIN!!!
