Please help! I want to root my SHW-180S! - Galaxy Tab Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I got this new Galaxy Tab from Korea and I'm wondering how am I supposed to root it? I have no experience on rooting whatsoever, so I really need exact and guaranteed instructions. I tried rooting my tab twice, it ended in a Coma Brick twice and I had to send it to Samsung Help desk twice to repair it.
Here's my Specs:
Model Number: SHW-M180S
Firmware Version: 2.3.6
Baseband Version: M180S.FE18.1503.ST
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7 [email protected] #2
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.UF08
I need precise and accurate information. Thank you.

flash via odin 1.85 put it on pda HOME_M180S.UC27_REV03_user_low_ship_-_ROOT
dnt click repartition leave it unchecked just search it in the forums always a guide, dnt be lazy!!!

[Q] Returning to stock for a fresh start

Hi, My situation is the following:
I had a Galaxy S with the following stats:
MODEL: GT-I9000T
PDA: I9000TUBJG5
PHONE: I9000TUBJG7
CSC: I9000TUUBJG4
FIRMWARE VERSION : 2.1-update1
Baseband version I9000TUBJG7
Kernel version: 2.6.29 latin.umts(at)samsung #2
Build number: ECLAIR.UBJG5
I got impatient, and try to flash it to 2.2, after a lot of missteps and messed up stuff i got it working. Everything was fine until it started to crash and the wifi just stopped working a couple weeks after the change.
So, I want to go back to my stock status(like fresh out of the box), and then, with my new "experience" I'll try different things.
How can I do that? The main problem should be the firmware, I do have access to an other phone with the original stats(bought 2 that day) would that help?

[Q] root 2.2.1 on bvjs4 firmware

hello,
i am looking to remove the simlock on my sgs, in order to do this however i need to root. i have read this post this page and every post since feb 2011 (the release dat of my firmware)
however i dont wants to just pick one of the kernels and go at it gung-ho
i am locked to orange in the UK, it is an orange branded phone.
here is my firmware details:
PDA:I9000BVJS4
Phone: I9000BVJP4
CSC: I9000ORAJS4
build info: 2011.02
buil number: FROYO.BVJS4
any help would be greatly appreciated, i have tried replying to the thread but as i joined yesterday i cannot reply untill i post 10 posts.
can anybody suggest which CF-ROOT kernel i should use?
what baseband verision is ? at settings/about phone . If it is JPY you can root with cf-root for JPY .
baseband version is I9000BVJP4
also there is this info
kernel version is 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1 (i have downloaded an app from the market that checks root and it says im not rooted)
im not sure if the [email protected] bit means anything??
Baseband does not equal firmware, baseband is another name for.modem. So don't use cf-root.
To root, flash the speedmod K13C kernel with odin and select root in recovery.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
thanks mothatt, would i need to remove root if the update to gingerbread becomes availiable? also if i remomove the simlock would i still be able to do kies updates from the network provider (for warranty purposes)?
Root will not have to be removed for a firmware upgrade, the upgrade will remove root.
AFAIK removing simlock voids your warrant because it makes a permanent change to your efs. I'm not completely sure though as i have never unlocked.
hello friends,
sorry to be back again, i am having trouble with my phone, when it turns on it passes the orange splash screen but then i get a blank screen and it vibrates alot.
in order to get the phone to load i have to wipe/format to factory settings every time i switch on the phone, or it just goes black and vibrates.
also on a side note: if i use odin to flash new firmware, would this remove the orange brandig rubbish? im not bothered about losing data because i have had to erase everything to get it to load up.
if so which one would be best as i cannot find a bvjs4 firmware on samfirmware

Warranty question, how do I un-root it? AT&T Tab using "stock" 2.3.3 XXJQ1

Warranty question, how do I un-root it? AT&T Tab using "stock" 2.3.3 XXJQ1
Love this forum, it's been so helpful.
Anyhoo here's my process of things:
1) Purchased an AT&T Tab when they were selling the refurbs for ~$215 back in May 2011.
2) Flashed it to Overcome (thank's alterbridge86 and Overcome team!) Reference: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074759
3) Enjoyed the crap out of it
4) Tab developled a hardware issue where part of the screen would not accept touch input
5) Called up Samsung and they issued a Warranty Claim! Reference: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/service/warranty/SGH-I987ZKAATT and USA SAMSUNG Customer Care 1-888-987-4357
6) Thought to myself that sending them a custom rom'd Tab would be bad, so I installed the "stock" Gingerbread (thanks Chainfire!) Reference: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1073854
So now here are the specs on my tab:
Back of the Tab case says:
Model: SGH-i987
SKU:SGHI987ZKA
AT&T
*#1234# says:
Version
PDA: P1000XXJQ1
PHONE: P1000XXJPZ
CSC: P1000OXAJQ1
Settings -> About device says:
Model number: GT-P1000
Firmware version: 2.3.3
Baseband version: P1000XXJPZ
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7 [email protected] #2
Build number: GINGERBREAD.XXJQ1
You think I'm cool if I send it in for hardware warranty support? If not, what else should I do? I'm a noob about this stuff.
TIA (Thanks in advance)

The long and short of it is, once you've gone custom ROM on an AT&T Tab, it is completely impossible to back to fully stock. This is because there is no full image of a stock AT&T ROM available, specifically, no working bootloader as I understand it. Other people have disagreed before with me on this claim, but no one has ever succeeded nor suggested how it could be done.
You can, however, get close. You could flash back to AT&T ROM, and have everything stock except for the lack of a boot animation if you follow the instructions in my post.
If you follow the Stock Gingerbread link I posted above (#6) it works just fine. I have a full boot animation, both visual and sound. Works great.
Well, I sent off the Tab to the repair facility in Plano Texas today. I'll update this thread with Samsung's findings and if I'm charged any thing for the repair.
Got the tab back last night. No charge at all for the work. They re-installed stock AT&T Froyo.
Only problem is there's now some dead pixels on the display smack dab in the middle

Help With Captivate

So I rooted my phone and did an "update" to Android 2.2 Froyo a while back but now I'm having problems with it. For example, no matter what I try, the computer will not recognize the phone when I connect it via USB cable. I want to update to Gingerbread but I have no clue where to start. I tried reinstalling Kies, reinstalling Samsung drivers, formatting phone, factory reset, and nothing seems to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
My phone details:
Firmware Version: 2.2
Baseband version: 1897UCJI6
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1
Build number: FROYO.UCJI6

I think he figured it out already, the question was posted 5 months ago.
Hi, I think you should use cook rom for relaxation.

No service?

Hi,
I recently installed JellyBeer 4.18 on my Samsung Galaxy Note coming from stock gingerbread.
The problem I'm having however is that I don't seem to have any connectivity with the cellular network.
Even emergency calls do not work.
When trying to find any mobile networks nothing shows up either.
Phone info:
Model Number: GT-N7000
Android version: 4.22
Baseband version: N7000XXLSO
Kernel version: 3.0.31-CM-ga034655
JellyBeer-4.18-02MAY2013-065910
I figured it could have been the radio since I was using an outdated GB one so I flashed N7000XXLSO but that didn't help either.
Already checked IMEI and after flashing this ROM it's still the same.
I wanted to post this in the official JellyBeer thread, but I'm "new" here even tho I've been a forum lurker for quite a while so I don't have enough posts do go and do that.
Did I nuke my antenna somehow?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance
