When trying to flash a custom kernel in CWM is there any extra steps that need to take place like when u flash a rom. As in factory wipe or clearing the dalvik cache. I've searched through this forum and the O3D one and haven't found anything. And I'm running doomed froyo if that helps.

I always wipe the dalvik just out of habit, no need to wipe anything else.

Hi devs, today im gonna need some help.
Lets say i wanna flash CM7 Into my OB, these are the steps i have done.
OB SPECS:
2.2.2 v10a GBK ROOTED
1) Download CM7.zip from ROM Manager
2) Reboot into recovery
3) install zip from sd card
4) done!
5) Phone auto reboots and loops at CM7 BOOT Screen
6) Re-flashed From SFT back to v10a
7) Re-installed CWM and recovery
8) This time i downloaded CM .ZIP from the cyanogen's site from my pc and transferred to my phone's sd card
9) Repeats steps 3-5
WHY MUST I GET TROLLED!???
Have you done wipe data and cache?
I think changing from froyo to GB you need to do factory reset...
First make a backup using titanium backup or sth like that, then wipe data, install CM7 from zip, boot and then restore your data from titanium backup.
edit:
nevermind.. "Re-flashed From SFT" sounds like you did.

After you install the ROM, don't leave the recovery and wipe data, cache and dalvik cache...
Then reboot...
So just wipe again after installing the rom??

There already are topics about "best roms" etc, but i think you should try them all and decide on your own which one is best for you
Thanks

I like cm7,zeus ; respectively in descending order
But it's up to you what to choose
Try and keep which you like

It'll be a dirty flash. Bugs fcs and slow lags
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda app-developers app
What is the meaning of dirty flash?
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda app-developers app
When you flash a rom over a previous rom without wiping it is a dirty flash.
If you follow dakren's Instructions it is not a dirty flash afaik.
Btw i can flash new rom by wiping my device and install new rom like usual?

download everything to pc , format all your data in recovery mode, reboot in recovery so the sd is readable again and use adb sideload to flash new rom and everything
Edit: *Careful when i say format data i mean you choose "format data" in recovery, dont select every single file and delete it or u will just delete the recovery too and u will need to reinstall it
