Hi all,
I have the Canadian model (Bell Mobility GT-P1000M) with rooted Froyo 2.2, and I would like to upgrade to JB CM10. I've been looking at some of the posts, so I'm informed, but I still have a few questions:
- If I'm doing a full install, do I need to patch the protected bootloader first (Page 3)?
- Which modem should I use, T-Mobile or AT&T? (or can I just pick one and then use the proper modem from the modem list sticky after?)
If you’re a North American T-MOBILE Tab user, look for the “T-Mobile Modem” folder and select the “modem.bin” file.
If you’re an AT&T (USA), TelCel (Mexico – if you’re not using the GTP1000L Tab) and Telstra (Australia) user, look for the “JK3 Modem” folder and select the “modem.bin” file. It doesn’t matter if you prefer another modem, you can flash another modem, once you’re done…

Getting ICS on the Bell Mobility GT-P1000M
Thanks,
Vic.
You are on Froyo, so apparently you need to root and check if your bootloader is protected. If so, then patch.
Is bell using 850MHz for 3g? If so, you use at&t modem.
T-mobile modem only for t-mobile tab.
Jpz modem for the rest.

Thanks... I installed it using the AT&T and left it like that. I don't have a data plan for the tablet so I don't really care.

Yes it is the same as the international one.
i am able to flash any i9000 rom on my i9000m and it works fine...
I've flash darky's Roms (from 9.5 up) and now i'm currently using Dark Core 2.7.3_4 JVP running the F1 JVP V9 ROM and love it.
What did you need to know?
And i9000t = i9000?

For GT-I9000M, any rom would most likely work, but you might get issue with the modem.
If so, do what's stated here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12156313&postcount=438
and you'll be able to run almost any modem
How can I find out what is the original bell mobility froyo rom? I want to reverse my phone back to bell's settings.
Can someone please help!
Bells firmware is KC1

The I9000m is very similar with the exception being that it uses 850mhz band umts and GSM rather than 900mhz.
this is why you might have issues with the modem. International version modems support 1900mhz band so you may not notice the issues immediately as bell runs both 1900 and 850 but its best to at least flash a modem that uses what is available. Some people think the 850 band is better but unless you check to see what band is in use all the time who really cares as long as it is available.
As for the firmware. As mentioned the most current is known as KC1 which is the last 3 digits of the whole thing. You can find it at samfirmware.com (you need a username to download - they seem OK - no spam) and then flash it via ODIN (search for 1 of about 18000 tutorials here or see the one at samfirmware.com)
Good luck all.

Hi,
Can someone inform me which modem is the best one to use for the i9000t version for telstra in Australia, as I have looked around and there are so many recommendations which has got me confused
Try googling "modem dance". This is a process which will allow you the use of all bands with any modem.
I am using the latest JVT modem with 850 NZ Telecom band.

Hello All!
I am working with a SGH-I987 (ATT) for bluetooth related application development. Unfortunately 2.2 is being a bit of a bear to deal with. I was looking on the forum and found quit a few roms are available for gsm tabs. Could someone steer me to the roms that will support the SGH-I987?
I was looking at CyanogenMod9, but am not sure if my tabs will support it.
Thanks in advance!
If this is your first rom on a tab Id suggest starting with Overcome. A full guide is available too.
Enjoy!

some rom ready?
Hello,
I want to upgrade my att tab, yo ICS or GB (actually froyo).
You know where can i get a full guide and rom?
(i have that unlocked, rooted and with the phone option)
Thanks
everything you read here will work for your tab.
P1000 is the euro generic version, yours is AT&T model that has different radio/modem hardware to suite AT&T network.
Just take note of what baseband you are on (Setting - Phone -About)
After flashing CM9 following the whole overcome restock, overcome kernel 4.0, then CWM flash etc... you then need to find the same modem (search in dev there is modem thread), unzip it and extract just the modem.bin and paste it to /radio/modem.bin
disclaimer is: of course I can't tell you if your tab can then make calls and have 3G. that might be AT&T limitation.. others may know more.
Hello everybody I'm having a bit of a problem with my SGS i9000, international version. I'm currently running CM7 with the UGJL2 modem.
I recently signed up for a data plan. My carrier is Movistar Chile.
Problem is, I can't connect at all. Not even on EDGE. I have checked the APN settings and they're OK.
I have also tried changing the settings in Service Mode to no avail. When I choose any other setting than GSM 1900, I don't get any service.
Also tried changing some settings in Testing. Nothing.
Tried flashing many modems, most of them with 850 enabled, no good.
Any ideas?
I might suggest to flash a different modem or one of the radio 850mhz files found on this site.

I can't recall if I tried that modem. Will flash and check. Thanks for your responses!
EDIT: flashed KC3, no good. There's no way it'll connect with 850, just 1900. Tried changing settings in Service Mode, nothing.
Maybe flashing another ROM?
Try this for 850mhz
I am on Telstra in Aussie and we use the 850Mhz, and when I upgraded ROMS I had to sort out the same issue you are having. I found a Telstra modem, opened a modem file, swapped my modem into it and put it into my phone. The in recovery opened the file an it all worked. Not sure if that is the correct way, but it works for me and gives me both 850 and 2100 for Telstra.
Change your rom to jvu, its sweet, and try to use the modem that was in your stock rom from chile
Im using simplicity + semaphore+ UGKG3 modem

Thanks for the reply. Sadly, the phone was imported all way from England... not the smartest thing to do...
So tecnically there is no stock Rom for the I9000 from Movistar Chile.
However, now that you mention it, Movistar used to sell the I9000B here, and I'm not sure if I could grab the modem file from a I9000B from Chile (if I happen to find one) and flash it. Are I9000 and I9000B modems compatible?
EDIT: found out something weird. I actually got a hold of a SGS2, factory unlocked, and swapped the SIM cards. In the SGS2, the APN settings from Movistar Chile are picked up automatically (preconfigured?), thought there is still no connection when Data is enabled. This (APN settings preconfigured) DOES NOT happen on the SGS1, as if there weren't any settings predefined. I have to put them manually. Why...?
With the other SIM card (Entel Chile), both phones set the APN automatically and connect to the data plan without issue.
Does this mean there's a phone issue AND a carrier issue?
I also forgot to mention that I got rid of CM7 and flashed the latest Darky's Rom, JVK modem, 850 enabled as far as I know.
The apn issue is from the preloaded apns from the rom you uses, it happened to me no other than simplicity.
The letter b on i9000 means the region, from example im in mexico and i have a i9000t that its for latinamerica, the i9000 alone its erupean and MAY BOT HAVE 850mhz antenna
Do you had 3g before the data plan weon? Hehehe

It should have 850MHz, since that's supposedly the frequency Movistar uses here...
Still trying to figure out what to do
Have you tried to make sure it is enabled in the network mode/cell info/power info menu
in your dialer: *#0011#
and make sure under all the options 850 is enabled

Thanks for the reply, but I already tried that, didn't work SGS doesn't support 850mhz out of the box, which is why I flashed another modem in the first place.
Ok there's a cm7 radio zip it worked for me when I was on it ill find the link and post soon.

I have a GT-I9305T (Telstra Version) currently running CM10.1, I would like to unroot the phone and return it to factory original stock...
1) can I flash a stock i9305 or does it have to be a i9305T based ROM? - where can I get these?
2) should I run triangle away in CM10.1 then flash the stock ROM, and run SU to unroot?
3) after all that is done I still have CWM right? how do I return that to stock?
THANKS IN ADVANCE...

1) Yes you'll need a I9305T based rom, it's to do with basebands and 4G (e.g. i9305 can't do 4G in Australia while i9305T can...)
2) I forget how it is with triangle away, but that's up to you. Whether or not that red exclamation mark bothers you or not. Also it'll automatically unroot when you flash the stock rom via Odin. So no worries about that!
3) CWM will be removed (stock recovery restored/added) and any custom kernels will be gone too.
Good luck, but becareful with Odin. If you don't feel certain about something, look it up on YouTube (as their explanations will be better as you'll be able to view it).
Hope this helped
thank you

He wants to unroot and go back to stock, he is using a T model.
Research before you come and talk...
"The I9305 is the European version and the difference is:
The I9305 operates on the LTE800 & LTE2600MHz bands
The I9305T operates on the LTE1800 & LTE2600MHz bands
Therefore the I9305 will not currently operate in 4G mode in Australia (will only operate in 2G or 3G mode) as Australia is currently using the LTE1800MHz band (both Telstra & Optus).
If you are living overseas and want to visit Australia, then the I9305 will work (not at it's full potential though). If you live in Australia buy the I9305T."

Good day to you sir...
I live in Australia and have both t and international versions. Both work on 4g. I stand corrected if he wants to go back to stock on t version.
But you are wrong about the T version only doing 4g here. Both t and non t work perfectly here and you can use either rom on both its the modem that's specific that was my point.

The thing is, you're stating that Telstra themselves lied when they said using an i9305 Rom/firmware package is not something that is recommended and hasn't been tested.
They also said that there is a difference...
Also, they way you came and said that was 'bull' was childish and plain rude.
I answered the question correctly and showed facts.
You've done nothing but call part of my explanation 'bull' and nag about how there is then no difference when clearly there is.
Next time I recommend you be more friendly when claiming someone is wrong.
I recommend you leave it at that, cause I am.
Can Europe GT-I9305 run with Telstra Rom?
Hi,
I have a Galaxy S3 4G GT-I9305 bought via Kogan. Came with a French splash screen.
I currently am using Telstra but have rooted the phone and running Cyanogenmod.
I want to unroot the phone. Can I use the Telstra GT-I9305T rom? Will it work or is the modem different?
Thanks
