NEW OTA update! JWR66Y - Nexus 4 General

Just letting you know!

They're running out of letters for JWR66...

To be clear, it is a rumored update. I've seen no actual reports just yet. Maybe later today.

Why would T-Mo post it on their support page if it was just a rumor? You even read the article? http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-5034

There is a chromium report from an user with the new JWR66Y version in a nexus 10:
https://www.google.es/url?sa=t&rct=...OOBjmrx6AgjprAmE1skg1jw&bvm=bv.50952593,d.d2k
The interesting line is:
OS Version: 0.0.0 Linux 3.4.39-g446c9cf #1 SMP PREEMPT Mon Jun 10 17:11:40 PDT 2013 armv7l google/mantaray/manta:4.3/JWR66Y/776638:user/release-keys

I don't expect anything more than the bitcoin affair fix because actual nexus 10 kernel version is the same version shown in the above report.

The update is real. But whether it comes today is just a rumor. T-Mobile has been known to post docs well before software updates actually happen.

anyone know what the supposed "security fixes" are in this update?

Hopefully (would be nice, but not getting my hopes up) this small update will straighten out the issues between jwr and jss and give us a single 4.3 source to start fresh from here on out

I'm speculating, but it could be the random number generation issue:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/0...itcoin-wallet-apps-money-vulnerable-to-theft/
http://arstechnica.com/security/201...droid-crypto-flaw-used-in-5700-bitcoin-heist/

I've been staying on Stock 4.2.2 for now, and have had a constant System Update Available notification to update to 4.3 but have been ignoring it. Just now I noticed the update notification disappeared, so I did a manual check for updates in Settings, and it tells me i'm on the latest version (4.2.2: JDQ39)
Do you think this is related to the new OTA update? I'm thinking they took the previous 4.3 off for now and are going to release the new one, but I could be wrong.

All devices aren't on JWR so it doesn't make sense because you don't want it to. New Nexus 7 is on JSS15J so this will bring them all on the same branch. The update isn't just for us.
I'm not claiming to know. But my assumption is that because the issue was marked resolved. So im only guessing. I'm not JBQ lulz

How about every Android news site. A build for the Nexus 10 "Y build" is in the chromium tracker today. Check Android Headlines, Android Police, Android Central. Google Plus. Do you guys only read on XDA? lol
The information is out there. Use search and you'll see it all like I did hours ago. No need to be snappy sirs.

Could this be the bug fix that the European version got before the real update?

Nothing to get excited about:
HTC One Software Update - 1.31.651.2
Enhancements/Fixes
- Sprint Music+ ringtones displayed in Ringtone list
- HD Voice enhancement

HERP DERP DERP super productive.
I don't have this update.
I wish I could care to get this update. 2 months for the "big update" huh? Will we be able to get a 4.2.2 sense room before then? Prob not since it's in Europe? Well that's too bad. Luckily I don't hate sense 5 like I did on my Evo3D

Hopefully someone will give us a leak in the next month. Someone already claims to have the 4.2.2 leak, just doesn't wanna share it yet.

Don't you miss when you used to be able to download updates directly from Sprint and install them via PC? I remember doing that on my Samsung Moment when we were all at Android 1.6.
Anyway... small update or not, I can't flash it soon enough - I have problems with calls where I can't be heard and can't hear the other person. Hoping whatever changes to bring HD voice might fix my problems. Since I'm rooted, waiting on the changes to find their way into a ROM.

Android 4.4 KitKat running on Nexus 4 + Benchmarks

This is the new Android 4.4 AOSP ROM, which was just recently published by PA, running on Nexus 4.
In the video I go through the new stuff that's been added to Android, including the new "Ok Google" feature.
I also ran benchmarks and the results were better than I expected!
Antutu benchmark score: 16867 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_8_I6xHiOk)
Quadrant benchmark score: 5042 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7aQbUfnrwU4)
The scores will improve once Google released the official ROM with all the binaries and what not.
Here's the original ROM thread:

TToivanen is right, the battery stays intact as it only listens for the keyword while on the home screen.
Results should increase when actual 4.4 binaries/drivers+kernel is released with factory images.

Nexus owners don't like waiting... In fact many bought a nexus so they wouldn't have to wait on an update. Now Google is making us wait. Kinda BS. Pretty annoying.
I personally am refusing to use some broken 4.4 ROM. Stock 4.3 till the ota is pushed.

All I found was Dev Preview threads. Instead of digging through 100s of pages; thought we can discuss the clean build once we start getting it. Would be great to see when it actually starts rolling out and what difference / updates there are compared to the DP.

Hi there.
The source in the Android Geeks story is the message Google sent to developers recently saying Android 5 will be released to consumers on Nov 3. What that means in reality is anyone's guess.
I'm in London UK with a Nexus 5 waiting for the OTA update too. Hoping it's today but certainly not holding my breath.

There are no specific changes for the N6, just the general Android changes. Perhaps there will be some proprietary changes or other things that don't make it into the changelogs.
