Working Everything (NEEDED!) - Sprint HTC One (M7)

Hi guys I'm new here to xda. Recently, I've just completed rooting my HTC one and s-off. I currently have the eclipticone rom installed but have NO DATA. Once I turn off the wifi I can't do anything on the internet or receive emails. Is there any roms out there for the HTC one with working everything for sprint?

Hi,
Maybe it's better to take a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2215 ?

I think I saw a download for Sprint on PAC ROM , but I may be mistaken. I would first look there and then maybe look at the CM ROM. Good luck.

You did something wrong. Ecliptic in the Sprint forum is 100% working. As most of the ROMs are.

Good news everyone I've solved the problem. Some how my radio signal was set to LTE/Cdma. Sprint said when set to this it trys to pick up LTE or 4g first before picking up cdma.

Would you mind telling me where you are located geographically? I too recently discovered this setting must be set to CDMA only in my area. It's SUPPOSED to connect to 3G when no LTE is available, but for some reason that's not working in my area. And this is a very recent change. About 12 days ago I lost data and it took 3 or 4 days of reboots, reflashes, and phone calls to Sprint before *I* fixed it myself by selecting CDMA only. Sprint never bothered to suggest the change because it's not supposed to matter. I'm baffled by this so it occurred to me you might be in the same area as me.

I'm located in va

Would you mind narrowing it down a bit? Are you in one of the areas served by nTelos? In central and SW VA, there are many areas that do not actually use Sprint towers. Sprint has some sort of partnership with nTelos and I happen to live in one of those areas. I have seen info that indicates nTelos will begin rolling out its 4G network in the latter half of 2013 and it occurred to me that the sudden necessity to set the phone to CDMA Only might be related to the early stages of this roll out. Almost as if they have started the process and are transmitting some sort of partial signal that makes the phone think there is a valid 4G connection, which therefore prevents it from looking for a 3G signal. I may be grasping at straws, but after switching to Sprint 3+ years ago on the promise of "the nations first 4G network" AND paying an extra $10 for the privilege, I would REALLY like to finally have access to something better than Sprint's abysmal service in Charlottesville. :crying:
More info on this subject can be found here:

Your towers may be broadcasting CDMA eHRPD (basically EvDo with an extra layer to help handoff between 4G and 3G). I discovered that with the SIM card in my phone being defective, I could not get data from any towers in my area even on 3G. This was confusing to me because I thought that the SIM card was only for 4G data. When I went to check the network type under the about area in settings, it said CDMA - eHRPD. When I switched my phone to CDMA only, the network type changed to CDMA - EvDo Rev A and my data started to work.
If you are using a phone with a broken SIM this could be the problem. My phone did tell me that the SIM card was not detected though, so I knew it was a problem from the beginning. Your issues could be with the towers in your area instead if your SIM is fine.
Also, there are rumors that Sprint may overbuild into nTelos territory since nTelos was not being obedient to Sprint's demands in rolling out NV at the start. This would be good for me as I travel up central VA once a year or so

Very interesting, thanks for the info! To cloud matters even more, the ROM I'm running right now, a 4.2.2 Sense 5 concoction, doesn't even *HAVE* a CDMA Only option.
And you're right about eHRPD, my phone is reporting that as well. Funny thing is, even without the ability to select CDMA Only, I'm having no problem at all with data now. Oh and one more thing that may or may not matter, I flashed a hacked PRL that forces roaming on VZW, so maybe it only works because I'm not even using nTelos' network at the moment.
All I know is that I want Sprint to get their $hit together in this area so I don't have to jump through hoops just to get reasonable service.

[Q] About htc vivid and new Sim's

I just got an HTC Vivid in the mail today and i have an old Cingular Sim card that's capable of achieving the H+ technology in for example the htc inspire. Now since i live in Portland and there is no LTE yet only H+ why when i put my card in it will make and receive calls and texts but not let me connect to data. Note this is stock ics that the phone was shipped with.
My question is why cant my old Sim work if it can use H+ on my inspire but not on my vivid and also whats different about the newer Sim's then older ones?

The Vivid defaults to using the pta APN. The old SIM cannot connect to pta. You can manually make a legacy APN for wap.cingular or phone which will let you connect, but that's inadvisable.
I'd presume that the reason that a new SIM is required is because you're moving from a 3G technology to a 3-4G bridge technology. I don't know if you have the original Cingular GSM "64k SmartChip", but I had to upgrade that when I first got a 3G enabled phone.

No, that's a 3G-enabled SIM card. It works on UMTS and HSPA, unlike the 64K SmartChip (the GSM SIM) that I had from when EDGE was the best thing since sliced bread. That's why you never needed to upgrade your SIM when faux-G hit on the Inspire.
When I upgraded to the SYNC (see sig), that was right before Cingular was bought by ATT. I had to get a new SIM at that point, and they gave me the one you describe. I had to get another one when I got the Shine, as the contacts on it had corroded (or something; the card refused to read); that time, I got one that said AT&T on it (it was a palette swap of the Cingular card). I was still forced to upgrade yet again when I got the Vivid.
im just going out on a limb here, but i would say it has to do with the apn settings since you have an old cingular sim in a new phone im guessing the apn has been updated for new technology advancements

APN settings are stored in the ROM, not the SIM. The SIM authenticates you with the APNs that it is provisioned for.

I work for At&t, they lie about their data speeds. So basically, the phone might display H+ when your signal is really strong on 3G networks; the OTA updates on the Inspire wanted to make you feel like you were part of the fastest network At&t had to offer at the time. So if you didn't have a 3G sim, you were robbing yourself on speed capabilities, maybe barely but none-the-less. But Cingular SIM cards can only connect to 3G speeds at max. In other words, you're at the max speed for 3G which prompted the phone to display an H+ icon. The Vivid is an LTE capable phone and needs a SIM card with LTE capabilities in order for data to work, even though the new SIMs will also work on 3G, but not the other way around on cingular sims. Oddly enough, you will see a 4G icon when you're maxed out on HSDPA even though you may not be on true LTE networks...as is the case where I live. Hope this wasn't too confusing

I see what you mean everyone yea i actually went in the other day to a store and got a new one for LTE even though there is no LTE in Oregon yet. But i do understand because i did use my Cingular Sim in my vivid and calling/texting did work fine just the data did not work so pretty much for faster internet you need a Sim card that can be provisioned for LTE is what im hearing. Also for the newer tech you need a new one
You can add another APN setting very easily until you can get a new LTE provishoned SIM....THE NEW APN will give you 2g, 3g, HSPA+, Text and Voice....then when you get the new LTE Sim...you can go back and set it to the APN that is named pta....
Let me know by replying if you need the settings for the wap.congular APN and I will post...

Thanks for telling us what many of us probably suspected. I have always thought that most of what we are told is just "marketing hype" until proven otherwise. Much like the burger commercials tha make the subject look soooo tantalizing and huge when in fact it might taste great but is not THAT large.
It is nice to have someone on the inside share "reality" with us!!!

vivid lte issues

I have a vivid that I've been through hard times with. Went crazy for ics and bricked it for half a month. Then switched to iPhone.. now back to vivid with ics but no LTE. Originally the problem was that I had iPhone imei on the account but not anymore. Just doesn't work unless I use alternate apn settings. Any ideas?

It is likely that you will have to manually setup the AT&T PTA apn (assuming you are with att as you mentioned Vivid and not Raider). The apn is usually the cause for the problem that you mentioned. Do a search in the forum and it will give you the apn settings that you need.
So I did add the PTA and LTE apps. I'm on stock Rom, ics, AT&T. And no LTE. Still. All I can use is hspa+ .
I'm kind of surprised nobody else has this problem. Stock Rom seems full of bugs to me.
I had this problem before. All I did was set up the at&t apn. Applied then turned on airplane mode then wait a little, turn it off. That didnt work the first time so I restarted. Are you in a LTE area?

I actually just bought my Vivid as well from eBay (supposedly new) and it came preloaded with ICS. I wasn't able to get any kind of internet connection with my old Atrix sim even though it showed 4G in the notification bar.
I went to an at&t store and they gave me a new sim and now the internet works but i'm definitely not getting the 4g lte icon or speeds of that nature via speedtest app.
I've tried both airplane mode and pulling the battery, with no results. I'm thinking of doing a hard reset now. *sigh*

And just to update, a hard reset didn't do anything.
I'm in San Francisco by the way. What's funny is that when i looked at the demo phone inside the at&t store, the icon for LTE wasn't on that screen either. That phone was running ICS as well.

Mine came with ICS & showed 4g lte when it is in range. you do need to have an LTE data plan for the apn to work to connect you up with LTE. I figured that one out the hard way. Call them up or browse online for the LTE dataplan of your liking.

I'm also in the bay area as well, within 2 miles of a LTE signal tower. Did you get a new SIM card when you got your Vivid? Because when I went to an AT&T store to upgrade my phone to Vivid, they had to give me a new SIM, because it was running LTE and that would not work if you have an older SIM, which at the time I had. So make sure you asked them for a new SIM card!
Never mind, just re-read the above post, you got a new SIM card. Sometimes it would happen for any kind of reason, I would just walk back into the AT&T store and ask for a new SIM or new Vivid

Yes, make sure you do have LTE specific data plan, as older data plans while work, will not allow you to connect to LTE data.
Make sure they gave you an LTE sim and that switch over the IMEI because my brothers had the same issue

2nd bad M8...sigh...

Looks like I have wound up with LTE connectivity issues on my 2nd M8. It's defaulting back to 3G and never trying LTE again. I'm in an area where the circuit fallback has already been installed and is up and running, so it shouldn't be that. It randomly just stopped working properly over the weekend. Sprint has told me there are no issues in my area, no work being done.
Is there any chance HTC or Sprint acknowledge this issue with their phones? What is happening under the hood to cause the phone to randomly get mucked up and never be able to get back to normal? Or is there a way to get back to normal?
Profile, PRL updates, rebooting, airplane mode are all (very) temporary fixes for a bigger problem. It acts and feels like a software issue, but is it something that can be reversed or does it get embedded into the firmware, never to be removed? I've tried flashing firmware multiple times without rebooting, over top of itself more than once, hoping to knock out or overwrite something wrong inside. I ran OMJ's h/k RUU last night and it connected to LTE as soon as it rebooted, but today it's right back to where it was.

Its really difficult to tell if its the device or the network but for the most part calling sprint is no doubt a waste of time. Over on the gs5 forums you hear the same complaints all day long. As a matter of fact, go to any sprint tri-band device forum and you will know doubt hear the same exact complaints.
Goto to a Sprint Store and Compare it Side-By-Side.

That may or may not make a difference, two of the same devices in the same location can be connected to different towers unless he uses an app to confirm that both are connected to the same tower and even then I have had experience with two exact devices connecting to the same tower and issues with that tower actually affected one device and not the other and nothing was defective with either device. Weird

I'd say keep a very close eye on them both. My 2nd one was perfect right out of the gate and stayed perfect for 3 weeks, then suddenly just poof it's jacked. It's not as bad as my 1st, but still frustrating. The 1st one wouldn't stay connected to anything, certainly not LTE. Now mine just wants to revert to 3G as soon as it possibly can. Very strange.
My daughter gets very good data with her g2, picks up lte in areas I don't and it gets me frustrated, it sucks I don't no anybody who has a m8 to compare mine with, I'm gonna have to wait till my wife gets hers with her upgrade

I think it's certainly possible but not that common. And if they do behave the same then he's probably ok. If they don't then he'd have to dig deeper.
One store had several M8's on display and the all behaved identical and very different from mine.
I should have 3 of them tonight to compare One being returned to sprint and one that will get sold in the end.
As a sprint rep who lives in an area that sprint spark and bands 2600 and 800 are being implemented I assure you it is not your device, it is the network. This is happening on all lg g2s, g flexs, s4 tri bands, s4 minis, nexus 5s and gs5s. Since the Soft Bank by out Sprint is doing a massive overhaul on their network. Sure service might suck ass for a few months but you'll appreciate it when its done. Hang in there, its more than likely not your device.

I see it daily man. From what I have been told, they had problems with cross connecting calls when implementing spark. Since then, they resolved that issue but then created the 4g data/voice connectivity issue. Meaning when you are on 4g, the tower isn't telling your phone when its receiving a call. Ever wonder why the m8 cannot talk and use data at the same time? However an s3 can. Does that phone have this issue? Nope. Its not so much our phones but more so the towers not communicating to our phone the way they should. This is why when you switch to CDMA only instead of CDMA/LTE, you receive voice calls and texts. Again, you can change this in settings/mobile data/network mode.
LTE only mode works perfect when I enable it. It connects to band 26. Switch back to LTE/CDMA and LTE refuses to connect. The reason I'm confused is because everything worked for 3 weeks straight in perfect fashion. The Sprint rep I spoke to said no work was even being done in my area. @johnnygabe89 can you help me understand how this could be?

Sprint Triband LTE devices do not support SVLTE (Simultaneous Voice and LTE).
In previous Sprint LTE phones, when a device was in Sprint LTE coverage it would park in both the LTE and CDMA Sprint networks at the same time. When a voice call came in, it would just go straight through to the device. And signal to the LTE network would be maintained the whole time while the call was active.
In contrast, a Sprint Triband LTE device can only stay on one technology at a time. CDMA or LTE, not both. So when a Sprint LTE Triband device is in Sprint LTE coverage it parks only in LTE. And doing so means it cannot transmit calls without Circuit Switched Fallback (CSFB) on the network side. CSFB and eCSFB (Enhanced Circuit Switched Fallback) are network controls that will allow a single mode/single path network to operate in two modes, both CDMA and LTE.
Here is how it works in the simplest way I can describe. When your Triband LTE device has an LTE signal, it cannot receive or make calls on its own. It is just using LTE data happily. However, what if someone calls you? How does it get through the CDMA network to your device? Via CSFB.
When the Sprint network tries to forward a call to your device but cannot see it via CDMA, it then checks for an LTE connection to your device. If it sees one, it tells your device to disconnect from LTE for a moment and reconnect to CDMA. Your device then jumps over to take the call on Sprint CDMA and the LTE session is interrupted. This happens very fast and seamlessly. Except for the loss of data availability. If you receive a text, the Sprint network is able to route it to your device via LTE.
Circuit Switched Fallback is a great solution to the issue of Sprint Triband LTE smartphones. But the problem here is that the Sprint network is being upgraded in Network Vision, and not all Sprint parts of the Sprint network can currently support CSFB. And it affects all Sprint Triband LTE phones
If yoou want you can read this article all the way thru
I don't think it's a circuit switch fallback issue. This morning I'm connected to band 25 and lte is working. It's when I connect to band 26 that it disconnects. So maybe its not a broken phone?

Well from what I have gathered from all my reading about the issues is that Band 25 is the Sprint Triband LTE, and Band 26 is the older SVLTE (Simultaneous Voice and LTE) and may not support the CSFB and eCSFB yet.
I could be wrong in my assumption
I feel like I remember reading that band 26 is the new frequency 800

I also think it's the network. When I first got the phone, I experienced the 3g of death, but have not experienced it much lately as it seems like Sprint is updating their network in my area.
I'm getting LTE in places now that I have never gotten on my M7.
This weekend, I went to LegoLand, which is a highly congested area, and was getting the 3g off death again, which I believe is related to the network. This is similar to when I went to Disneyland with my M7 last year and could never use Sprint service in the park to due to it being a congested area.
I find it helps to turn off roaming in areas where you get the 3g of death and just connect to the Home network. Try that and see if you get better results. It seemed to work for me this past weekend.
It appears that my area is getting LTE added to the Band 26 800Mhz frequency, though it's not fully up and running yet. So my M8 is scanning and sees that band available, and most likely prefers that band, so it connects but it's not fully implemented yet, so it kicks back to 3G. There was a moment this morning where I had fully working LTE, and lo and behold I was on Band 25, not 26.
If only there was a way to disable Band 26 on the M8 until it's totally up and running...
im facing these issues too..it sucks

[Q] KitKat update breaks LTE on Sprint Flex??

Ok,
So I've searched through this entire QA section and have yet to find a thread related to my question so I'm going to ask.
I recently (as in like monday 05/05/14) updated to KitKat on my Sprint Flex and noticed that my LTE wont kick on...I update my profile and PRL and it will kick on for a split second go grey (gray?) and then go back to 3G. I'm curious, has anyone else encountered this issue or could this be a simple single issue I'm the only on experiencing?
mind you, YES I do live in an LTE enabled area (no Spark ) and my old HTC EVO 4G LTE gets service just fine as does my wife's EVO LTE but my Flex just wont kick it on anymore. I even tried resetting the radio with no luck. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would be very appreciative!
Other than this little hiccup, along with the KB issue, this phone is saweet!
How was your service before the kit kat update? FYI you should head over to the S4GRU forums. You will find better sprint support there. Its not a corporate sprint site, its a community of sprint customers that have lots of knowledge of the network.

I'm convinced that Sprint doesn't want people on their LTE network. They recently started throttling their unlimited customers data once they use over 5Gb. I used a Sprint phone for a short period of time before our company switched to AT&T, and that phone would disconnect from the tower it was using whenever the phone would go idle. I would try to use the internet and it would say "no connection", but the second I made a phone call on it the connection would re-establish. It's all very strange.

I left Sprint last year for identical reasons. As T-Mobile was the only other carrier to offer unlimited data without hidden throttle points. I had to pay the eta but it was well worth it. Sprint may be better out in the sticks because they have roaming agreements with Verizon but if you live in an urban area you will be ok.
My 4G LTE was badass before the update to KK. I'm very familiar with S4GRU forums. My service has always been great with Sprint, so that's not the issue, I was simply curious if this is simply an isolated incident or if this is becoming a known issue..I'm content with Sprint. I'll have to look at the other forums to see if I'm the only one having issues..

I had an issue when at my home recently with service. Since the g flex will not connect to data when on a phone call, i noticed that my service would go to nothing or 1 bar. I contacted sprint, and they told me that the 3g portion of the tower was out that i connect to when at home. They said it would be fixed by the end of the day. My advice is to contact sprint. Maybe they can shed some light on the subject. Try to contact them through the chat on the website. They seem more knowledgeable on there.

There is only one cell radio on the newer phones so no SVDO/SVLTE no voice/data. Wifi is separate so wifi data will still work.

OK.
so after I posted this thread i started checking the towers around me and found out i was not the only person reporting issues about this. apparently sprint is secretly updating the towers in Amarillo for spark. this didnt come from some idiot rep at the call center either, this i found out on my own. I verified it this morning and some areas in town my little sun lights up and my speeds are ranging from 15-25mb/s depending on the area of town im in.
I also got a phone call from a friend of mine in Austin because his iFag 5s wasnt able to connect to the interwebs even though he showed LTE to be active. they appear to be updating towers continuously in certina areas. thanks for the info on some of ya'lls part! i guess i just wasnt patient enough and jumped to the conclusion of KK breakin something in my phone.

3g on. Verizon

Do I have to keep my connection on global if I get to an area that my LTE drops off to get 3g? I had it set to LTE but got the roaming so I put it on global got 3g then got LTE when I got service back. Is this the normal process? I just got nexus 6 and wasn't sure if this is normal. Running cm12

Set it to Global if your outside of US territory LTE (Recommended) if you're within the US. Always remember to enable Airplane mode or Reboot when making the changes as a precaution.

Global and LTE are exactly the same if you are using a Verizon sim card. Global just allows you to use a GSM sim (typically for overseas travel).
Ok so I noticed if it drops I don't get 3g so is their a way to get 3g. My situation is when I put my phone in my locker it loses 4g and would default to 3g now I just get a ! On the network signal. So did I lose ability to get on 3g. I think I read on here that can happen
Yes surely lost 3g cause if I switch to 3g it gives me the !. So how do I restore 3g

I had same thing. Turned on Allow Roaming Data, and it goes into 3g. I'm assuming that since I'm in my home area, this won't cause me incur roaming charges.
Anyone figure out a solution for this yet?

I'm not sure there's an issue to solve. Mine goes between lte and 3g with no issues.

Mine will get 3g just have roaming enabled. With the way big red is kinda makes me nervous. Do you need roaming enabled to get 3g?
My roaming is off and mine will go between 3G and LTE with no problems. It does that a couple times a day at my work.
I found that on stock ROM it switched 4g to 3g fine. On aosp Roms I need to have roaming data enabled to get 3g and it says I'm on network 0000000.
I remember santod040 fixing that issue on HTC one m8 or was it digitalhigh I don't remember.

Sorry, no I mean that is the correct description of what is happening. It is a rom issue. Stock works fine.

Ahh gotcha. Thanks
Can you people who are claiming that phone switches to 3g confirm that you are on Verizon? I was not aware that that this phone works on Verizon 3g since it is CDMA technology.

Yes am on vzw can get 3g without enabling roaming on stock rom, on custom roms at least the ones I've tried roaming needs to be enabled to have phone switch between 4g and 3g. N6 has only two variants us and the rest of the world. The us version has a cdma radio don't know about the other. Also on verizon there is no voice and data at the same time... yet may have it in the future.
