Hey, im a newbie here in the forum, but i got some knowledge in the android world
I have a Lg Optimus 2X rooted on 4.0.4, and im a little confused about some things...
i want to install ClockwordMod, but i dont know how... i open rom manager 5.5 and i find my device on the list (lg p990) i fond it and then i downloaded the CWM but when it reaches 100% it looks like nothing gets installed :s i dont know what is happening. i found another ways to do this (running .bat files on my pc, but it doesn't work either) you guys have a clue why is this happening?
i want to install cyanogenmod 10.1, and i know i need CWM... but in their website they say: You must use the Gingerbread bootloader and partition layout in order to use CyanogenMod. The ICS firmware is NOT compatible.
my question is: i have lg original 4.0.4, this means i have to downgrade right? i have to downgrade maybe to 2.3 right? ^
(by the way sorry about my english, im from portugal )
thanks to all
well if you get nothing then it means it is for the old gb bootloader if you have a pink lg logo then you are on the new bootloader so find roms for thenew one or you can downgrade but dont forget your internalsd wil be wiped.
look in the development forum for the aio toolkit and dont forget to install apx drivers hope this could help you

Hi guys
I recently brought a 2nd hand LG 2X.
This rom is totally stock, to be precise, it is a Hong Kong version v10d
Since I want to improve the battery life and have a more defined rom.
I would like to root and install CWM for my LG 2X.
Up to now, I have downloaded a few kdz from the subforum.
I have little experience before with LG phone, Last one i played around was LG P500. I remember last time i could easily root the phone by super1click, and then install rom manager from play store.
And from there (play store) i install CWM recovery.
I would like to find the confirmation from you guys that
Can i go for the same path again, super1click>rom manager>CWM recovery??
Thx in advance!!

Yes, that's the correct sequence. And I'd recommend Rusty's excellent page here to get the latest CWM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098745
But before you start, please make sure you have the right model of O2X. Make sure you have p990 and NOT p999 nor su660 to use the cwm linked above.
I got a semi-brick that way, solved it nvflashing CWM, my luck perhaps
thx both of you guys!
japmsn: can you be a bit more specific, how you bricked your phone last time?
So i can learn from your experience
Thx

Yes the good thing is - if you don't brick the hardware this phone is unbrickable because you can always revert everything back with NVFlash. Nothing to worry about.

IF your phone is recignized by the Computer. No installation or drivers made my LG 2x available for NVflash. Smartflash worked fine for me.

I rooted and then installed rom manager, from it I installed CWM and then chose reboot to recovery and got stuck at LG logo. Then in order to revive it I used smartflash but couldn't connect so in the end used a thread here at xda called "last chance to recover" or something like that which was basically a .bat file I had to double click in order for it to flash CWM using nvflash.
It's not to scare you, quite the opposite, if something goes wrong it seems there's always hope like people have already suggested here.
greets
First: root with "unlockroot".
Second: flash a recovery console via PC.

To be able to install CM10.l1 u need to upgrade ur phone to jellybean via LG mobile support tool or LG PC suit , then u need to root it , unlock it and install CWM v 6.0.3.1 then flash CM10.1 zip file .
U can use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2256392 it will root, and unlock ur phone with few clicks but don't forget to do all that after upgrading ur system cause ICS 4.0.3 has unlockable bootloader and u will end up briking ur phone.

You can download official CWM recovery. Search here: http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager for LG Optimus 4X HD.
Then you can install with terminal, fastboot or sth else - I don't remeber well.
Then the fun starts. (On XDA look for ROMs and kernels)
And read the instructions carefully.
Unlock ur bootloader 1st!

Agreed but after reading posts on how to install, it requires an unlocked bootloader. is it necessary or can it be done without unlocking bootloader ?

It can be done without unlocked bootloader, but then you will be unable to install custom ROMs. So if you're on stock JB, unlock bootloader if you want (warrany will be woid).
That's not hard first you must root tour phone then install rom manager choose tour phone from it flash recovery reboot in it then flash zip file that's all

First you need to unlock your bootloader after that you can Install CWM or TWRP.
After doing all this you can Instal CM or any other ROM.
If you try to install the CWM or TWRP without unlocking the bootloader you will get the boot signature error and you won't be able to boot into recovery (please correct me if I am wrong.)
Don't Forget to make nondorid backup before you try installing any ROM in case you know what I mean
and next time post it in Q & A thread please..
Have fun mate.
yes you will get an boot image signature if you install cwm or twrp with locked bootloader
the only way to flash a custom rom on an locked bootloader is to adjust the rom to the stock kernel and device and the flash it via a bootstrap( like dexter did it)
but nobody is going to do it if you have tje possibility to unlock your BL seems that you have to stay at stock rom if you don't have the know how how to do it

It's not a trick, but it is pointless for a high end device as all it will do is increase lag and kill the SD Card due to the high amount of writes.
Well... I was using this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818502 and it works.

You really haven't given much informaton to go on. Basics with any help request;-
What are you trying to achieve?
What version are you running?
What ROM were you on before?
Rooted?
Bootloader locked or unlocked?
What recovery have you installed?
EXACT error message - this is the single most important detail!!
There are plenty of guides around if you are trying to get from 'Stock' to CM10.1;-
Upgrade to 'Stock' JB first
Root
Unlock bootloader
Install CWM (v6.0.3.1)
Install CM from zip
Install gApps from zip
.....
Profit

Highlighted in red for a very good reason. You'll need to reflash your stock v10e first, yet again there are guides on how to do this. Once you have the phone back up and running on v10e then read carefully and make sure you understand all the steps before trying again

so i just rooted my lg optimus 4x hd (ics 4.0.3) and then i flashed a cm 10.2 rom and i think i forgot to unlock the bootloader first, and now when i reboot my phone it gets to this screen ( 2 pictures attached) where there is the lg logo and some red writing,
it said: [LGE_SECURITY] ERROR: boot image signature
Critical failure: Unable to start kernel.
Unrecoverable bootloader error (0x00000002).
so can anyone please help me :crying:
First help: Edit your post and put a more descriptive title, to attract the people who might be able to help you. With the current title, the entire thread will get skipped by most of us. Hint: Unrecoverable bootloader error after flashing CM 10.2 would be a good example.

Dear My,Friend(s)
I decided to change my android version form official (4.03) to 4.4.4 kitkat , and i flashed CWM recovery before unlocking boot loader.
so I can not access my recovery mode of my 4X LG phone. ( with power and volume down keys)
also when Rom manager tried to boot downloaded recovery following error appears above the LG logo,
"boot image signature Critical failure: Unable to start kernel. Unrecoverable boot loader error (0x00000002)."
i thick i did it with out rooting of phone.
so the big problem is when i want to rest factory from the setting of phone, above metion erorr is appeared again.
i think you had same problem too,
I will appreciate if you help me to fix this problem.

i did it when i was 4.1 with root masters app, see a tutorial do 2 clicks and will be rooted, download supersu from playstore, update the binary and if i dont remember bad the app will ask you if you want to use this for all root permission, push yes, (if the root masters app asks you something when you are doing this push yes and after this you will can erase all the apps and the app of root masters, its really easy, but see a guide for if i didn t sayed something.
