Easier way to roow and install CWM for LG 2X - LG Optimus 2x

Hi guys
I recently brought a 2nd hand LG 2X.
This rom is totally stock, to be precise, it is a Hong Kong version v10d
Since I want to improve the battery life and have a more defined rom.
I would like to root and install CWM for my LG 2X.
Up to now, I have downloaded a few kdz from the subforum.
I have little experience before with LG phone, Last one i played around was LG P500. I remember last time i could easily root the phone by super1click, and then install rom manager from play store.
And from there (play store) i install CWM recovery.
I would like to find the confirmation from you guys that
Can i go for the same path again, super1click>rom manager>CWM recovery??
Thx in advance!!

Yes, that's the correct sequence. And I'd recommend Rusty's excellent page here to get the latest CWM.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098745
But before you start, please make sure you have the right model of O2X. Make sure you have p990 and NOT p999 nor su660 to use the cwm linked above.

I got a semi-brick that way, solved it nvflashing CWM, my luck perhaps

thx both of you guys!
japmsn: can you be a bit more specific, how you bricked your phone last time?
So i can learn from your experience

Yes the good thing is - if you don't brick the hardware this phone is unbrickable because you can always revert everything back with NVFlash. Nothing to worry about.

IF your phone is recignized by the Computer. No installation or drivers made my LG 2x available for NVflash. Smartflash worked fine for me.

I rooted and then installed rom manager, from it I installed CWM and then chose reboot to recovery and got stuck at LG logo. Then in order to revive it I used smartflash but couldn't connect so in the end used a thread here at xda called "last chance to recover" or something like that which was basically a .bat file I had to double click in order for it to flash CWM using nvflash.
It's not to scare you, quite the opposite, if something goes wrong it seems there's always hope like people have already suggested here.
greets

First: root with "unlockroot".
Second: flash a recovery console via PC.

I think I broke my O2X...help?

Hello! New member here so please excuse me if I'm posting to the wrong forum or anything like that.
Not to take long of your time, I can't get my phone to boot. It shows the 2 LG logos and won't proceed beyond that. So I need to know if there's a way to flash a ROM and a Recovery with it like that.
Thanks for the help.

Can you access CWM? Try to pull out the battery, put it in, press power button + volume down at the same time. Wait til the LG logo appears and release it.

I guess you need to flash the stock ROM by using SmartFlashTool. Its easy to use. There's a thread that has simple instructions.

Really?! That's great to know.
Recovery is v5.0.2.7
ETA: I flashed the ROM I had on before all that mess started and now my phone is working again. I'm not sure if things went awry because AOKP's last build was screwed or because I removed the SDcard before flashing in an attempt to force the phone to use the 5GB of internal memory that has been sitting useless since I got the device.
can't I flash the last owaine version I used?

It is.
I wiped every thing before flashing the ROM and I have a complete copy of all the files I had on the SDcard saved on my PC. As soon as it finishes charging I'll move the TB files back to the SDcard and see if I can restore my apps. Unfortunately, I have to redo my system settings by hand. But I don't really mind.
Thanks a lot for your help. I really appreciate it.

[Request] In need of PowerOff.apk and PowerOff.odex

Hi all,
Incidentally, I removed the application poweroff.apk with Titanium Backup, and I not did the backup. Now, my phone is not shutting down. When to put turn off, it just restarts.
I am with an enormous anguish. My question: I can turn it off by the battery, it will again turn on? I am with fear that the same reason that he is not shutting down, run the risk of it not connecting.
That is because I take the opportunity to change the firmware, and pass the v20q for the v20s. How to do it with Smartflash,I need disconnect the device to complete the procedure.
What do I turn it off again?
Can I change the firmware?
Please, I need help!
Thank you.
root explorer
Someone uses the RootExplorer?
I pulled out my battery like a hundred times. Nothing should happen.
You need to either reflash your ROM or install the update, both will give you the apk back.
Open terminal, write:
su
poweroff
It might work, let me know

No, but I've done way worse things than that
Don't worry, nothing will happen.
And even if you hit the 0.00001% chance and are stuck - luckily we do have NVFlash and can unbrick every softbricked phone.
That's one big advantage of the LG 2x! You need to damage the hardware to brick the phone.

I want to do this. But for flash It is necessary to turn off the phone.
And this is the problem, if I turn off, it will turn on again?
The process "flash" ensure it will turn on again?

Thats strange, i have always thought that poweroff is an busybox applet (/system/xbin/poweroff), and should work even without poweroff.apk
Just for the fun of it, try

I tried reboot, but the apk not returned. It only restarted normally.
There are an .apk and an .odex (poweroff) located in (System/app/)
I will try Reflash.
To Extract .kdz or .bin
Before performing the reflash, is there any way to extract the file .kdz or .bin from firmware I'm using in by Win7? With this, look for poweroff.apk, to extract, and put in my phone.
If it is noobish, then I apologise sincierly, but I have an idea.
Is it not possible to extract from other phone and upload it somewhere for you to put in your phone?
Like for example, would it help if say I (stock/root/ 2.3.4 O2X) get it for you and uploaded to some fileshare thingy?
(My understanding (being new to O2X but long running user of Androids (G1, Milestone 1, O2X) is that no matter what you do to your software, there is always flash, or nandroid bckup, or ROM install. So no worries. )

I realised the way you suggest to install CWM as exactly as mine.
But you only suggest to use SOC to root for 2.2 devices
Is there any reasons I should not root a 2.3 by SOC?
Actually SOC is always the most comfortable way to root for me
Hope you can share some

Read post 3 about how to do it yourself and follow the youtube video guide mentioned there. It's really easy and safe.
To me:
Easiest
- Smartflashtool flash v10a
- Use mass storage for phone
- Download Gingerbreak.apk
- Transfer to phone mass storage
- Install app
- Root
- Open Play Store
- Download ROM Manager
-Flash CWM
Voila
Easiest but slowest

Hmm, complicated. Why not:
- Smartflashtool flash v20n that has CWM inside. This is the procedure.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23788913&postcount=170.You only need the V20n,0,s (any of them) in fls/bin format.
- Flash Superuser.zip in CWM
- Done.
thx everyone
finally i got it!!
now using zeus v7, very cool rom!
But one last question, can i use the same smartflash with patched .bin method to revery to stock if i mess up something.
for example i am on cm9 and i wanna go back to GB, or i have to repartition my phone just like other brands like samsung.

Power jack not working

Hi, guys
I'm in a big problem, since from last week the power jack of my O2X don't work.
Since my phone is in warranty time, I can send it to the SAT, but, and that's my big problem, I have to flash the stock and unroot it, but I can't since I can't connect the phone to the pc via USB.
Is there any way to nvflash the phone from the SD, or via wifi or BT ???
Any idea will be very apprecited,
Thanks in advance,

[Q] Need some help

Hey, im a newbie here in the forum, but i got some knowledge in the android world
I have a Lg Optimus 2X rooted on 4.0.4, and im a little confused about some things...
i want to install ClockwordMod, but i dont know how... i open rom manager 5.5 and i find my device on the list (lg p990) i fond it and then i downloaded the CWM but when it reaches 100% it looks like nothing gets installed :s i dont know what is happening. i found another ways to do this (running .bat files on my pc, but it doesn't work either) you guys have a clue why is this happening?
i want to install cyanogenmod 10.1, and i know i need CWM... but in their website they say: You must use the Gingerbread bootloader and partition layout in order to use CyanogenMod. The ICS firmware is NOT compatible.
my question is: i have lg original 4.0.4, this means i have to downgrade right? i have to downgrade maybe to 2.3 right? ^
(by the way sorry about my english, im from portugal )
thanks to all
