Battery issue on Fresh 2.1d.. HELP PLEASE!!

So I flashed the new Fresh ROM and it is taking FOREVER to charge. I finally got it up to 100% and less than 7 hours, it was completely dead.
Any ideas?
Me too! Killed my battery in 7 hours while charging overnight!
Have you looked at what's using the battery?
I know in some of the other 2.1 roms, facebook is constantly syncing which kills the battery.
You can use logcat in sdk to see what the phone is doing while it's idle.
Also, service can also change the drain on your battery. I know at work (inside a 3 story brick building) I get horrible service and my phone is dead by noon if it's not plugged in. At home, it can go all day and then some.
Same issues here. Takes forever to charge and dies quickly. I haven't flashed the new radio yet....could this be this issue?
I've been using it since he released it and battery life is more than excellent. I can go a whole day then some
Go under settings, about phone, battery. What is your uptime and awake time?
Then tap on battery use. What has the highest percentage of use time on your battery?
Also check out 'cell standby'. Tap it.. Time Without Signal should be very low, or missing.
up time 8:57
awake time : 2:42
highest use is close between cell stanby48% and phone idle 47%
time without signal : 0%
BTW my battery was at 38% with little use(a few text msgs and fb mobile a couple of times)
TWS is fine then. Do you have the sync icon constantly running?
And what is your PRL/PRI (sorry if you posted that already).
PRI - flipz_01
PRL - 60663
What about the sync icon?
sorry....no sync icon
Weird. Any mods/themes/etc?
What I would do at this point is wipe everything (including ext), and reflash, then see if you still have the problems. I haven't had those issues, so I can't give you anything else to look at.
Perhaps someone else can, but that's all I can think of.
You could try the new radio. Some have said they get much better battery life with it (which is likely caused by the radio not having to search for signal as often...but since your TWS is 0% I'd be surprised if that's it). Try that, then nuke and pave would be my suggestion.
Last night was the first night that I had my alarm set. Could this have anything to do with the drain?
I had a weird issue with the battery. I don't know what exactly caused it and I could not pinpoint it with "Battery Use" nor "Spare Parts." My phone was staying constantly awake though, no matter what.
I eventually just partitioned the SD card, with no ext partitions (no apps2sd), flashed fresh again, and now it's all working great. I am installing my apps very slowly and monitoring them to see which one may have been causing the problem. So far no problems though.

I was getting decent battery life when I flashed 2.0d originally so this might not help you but after I flashed the newest radio my battery life got way better. I can listen to slacker radio for 4 hours while studying and use the phone intermittently throughout the day and get about 12 hours out of the battery life.
anybody who has crappy battery life check if your phone is on GSM auto PRL?

I'm running Fresh Rom and my battery is great. I haven't charged my phone since 6:30am this morning(it's 8:30pm here now) and it's at 60%. I'm using the new radio too.
scratch what I said yesterday, lol... my phone randomly rebooted overnight and now I can't get it to stop being 100% awake...
EDIT: Tried rebooting, tried "power cycling" phone, did the CDMA (Auto PRL) fix just in case, didn't install any new apps, battery use shows TWS at 0%, Cell Standby Time on = My total uptime.
Spare Parts Battery History shows my phone as 100% running, no sleep time.
Spare parts partial wake usage just shows Android System..
Battery is draining like crazy..

That shouldnt be an issue any more. Flipz fixed it in 2.0d.
Change your screen brightness to auto. When I first flashed it was at the highest setting and killing my battery. A lot better now...

Battery is draining due to WiFi partial wake lock on Android system process

Hi all,
After noticing my battery was draining quickly, and then after reading this thread , I installed Android System Info to see what was draining my battery so fast. I notice that whenever I would turn on WiFi, the phone will never go to sleep , regardless of what I set the WiFi sleep policy to. After turning off WiFi, the battery still drains heavily.
The WiFi will shut off after 15mins (if you set it to "When screen turns off" or "never when plugged in"). However it seems to keep the CPU on causing it to drain down the battery.
It would seem that whenever WiFi is enabled, the Android system process creates a partial wakelock that does not go away even if you turn off WiFi, and even when the WiFi shuts off as per the WiFi sleep policy. The only way to resolve this is by powering off or rebooting the phone.
You can verify this in Android System Info by going into Battery-History-Other Usage-Partial Wake usage to see how much time the "Android System" process holding a partial wake.
I even did a factory reset on the device; and it is still happening so it doesn't appear to be any app that caused the issue. As I said, it works fine as long as I don't enable WiFi.
I already know of two users having this issue, but I'm wondering if folks having battery problems are going through this as well. Is anyone else having similar issues after using WiFi? I'm hoping someone will be able to identify what exactly is putting the wakelock on and we'll be able to find a fix for it. Other than not using WiFi at all or rebooting the phone after using Wifi.
Does someone know if there is a utility to drill down and see which process would be causing the wakelock? "Android System" doesn't give me any more details.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
btw I'm not using any battery savers or task killers.
Update...i have the wifi sleep policy set to "never". Also have the network time sync disabled. I am no longer getting alot of battery drain from the Android System partial wakelock.
However, this means WiFi is on all the time....which burns up the battery as well.
Do you think this is a Samsung bug or Android that won't properly let the device sleep when the WiFi sleep policy is set to anything but Never?
Hoping someone at XDA can figure this one out.
I wonder the same thing...I lose about 20% during the night when the phone is not used for about 7 hrs. Not sure if that's normal or not

Set the WiFi sleep policy to "Never" and reboot the phone. Shut WiFi off if possible overnight. You should notice a big improvement with battery life.
Devs - is there any way to see what is wakelocking the Android System process?
The WiFi sleep policy seems to be broke on the Captivate so hoping someone that really knows these things can help out to identify what is going on.
I've had wifi sleep policy to "never" since I got it. Turning off wifi when going to sleep will slow down battery drain when the phone is not in use all night?

It should. Also setting the network to gsm only will use less battery. We need to find a way to see what process is holding that lock. Any dev experts out there please chime in.

That is anything but normal unless you live where your cell signal is very weak. I see about 1% lose every 60- 90 minutes when idle. 10-12% when browsing or reading xda. Dont do heavy gaming do not sure what you should see there. Weak cell signal will kill battery life as can other factors.
I do have a weak cell signal at my house. I'll have to ck it in idle mode in my office, where I have a good signal to see if that makes a difference
On the other hand I just recently installed beautiful widgets and use it's live wallpaper. Also lookout..I'm thinking that could be a battery hog
I'm experiancing the exact issue in the op.
Android System is holding a partial wake lock of about 30-40%
My battery drains 40% overnight.
Are there any fixes for this?
The problem for me was definitely the stock email app continuously polling my Exchange server, killing the battery and my data plan. I resolved it by removing the Exchange server from the stock mail app, and by using Nitrodesk's excellent Touchdown app for mail instead. Touchdown isn't free but it's very good. And now my battery performance is back where to it was prior to the Gingerbread update.
Thanks, Google, for carefully testing this update before releasing it on the unsuspecting public (NOT). You caused a lot of grief for a lot of people.

I may be wrong, but isn't the default email app from Samsung?
Though, you are correct. I setup my work exchange on it as well and it is definitely a killer. Lately I haven't really been giving a **** and just charge my phone every night. However, I might look into this Touchdown app now.

for the stock email app you can configure the sync schedule so it doesn't continuously poll your exchange server overnight. i have my sync schedule set to push when i normally wake up and an hour after i get off of work. during off peak hours its set to manually update.

[Q] Phone Awake While Asleep

So here's the deal. Wasn't getting great idle drain but figured I'd give it a while to see if it worked itself out. It hasn't. Took my phone off the charger and slept for less than 8 ours and loss almost 16% about 2% per hour.
I had wifi on. Blue tooth off. gps off. i have greenify stopping my voicemail and facebook app. I have about 60 something apps frozen. Android OS took up most of my battery life as you can see in pictures. Went to partial wakelocks and saw email at 30seconds but there are only like 45 secs of partial wakelocks so not that big of a deal. Noticed that better battery stats said my phone was awake for almost an hour (I was on it for 10 minutes looking at stuff which is why the screen on pic saus about 10 minutes, the screen wasn't on at all from unplug to me waking up). Noticed under kernal lock that something was keeping stuff on for almost an hour.
So why on earth was my phone on for almost an hour of the 8 hours i was asleep? Further, why does my battery drain look like it was pretty consistent over that time even though the phone was on for an hour. It makes me think that it continuously must be turning itself back on. I know that wifi is the problem for some people but I figured that I would be able to see that in partial wakelocks yet it isn't there. I can try changing wifi stuff if some sees something showing that it is wifi issues.
Otherwise, maybe i should return the phone???
So , I would say that the main issue is your mail service process. It woke up 184 times, every time it wakes its going to keep the phone awake for a little before the phone completely goes back to sleep. it is work related i assume?

yes that mail account is work and there is an account for my school. It is the email apk that bypasses security that plenty of other people are running. Do you think that it is an account issue or the Email.apk? So the 180 wake ups only totaled for 30 something seconds of partial wakelock. Is it not showing upas a partial wakelock and that is why the phone says that it was on for so long?
also, I read that something having to do with wifi and the qcom_rx_wakelock cause severe battery drain. Know anything about that.
So, yes, the app only worked for 33 seconds because each wakelock probably required only a few milliseconds to do what it needed to do.. but the phone does not go to sleep instantly after each wakelock. so for each of the 184 times that app woke your phone up, it was "awake" for 5-15 seconds or however long it takes the phone to decide its time to go to sleep again. Awake time for me is almost always a function of screen time, like 1.5x - 2x my screen time.

so any idea on a solution besides setting up for my email to only check every half hour. It is set to push right now. Given I don't need it at night really and i can set something up to change when it is allowed to check for emails. But sometimes I am up at 2 because I get an email that requires me to do work. Also, the qcom_rx_wakelock that kept m phone on for 32 minutes or something doesn't seem to have to do with the email. But maybe when the email tries to access the internet that wakelock runs to try to get wifi...
edit: I did more research on the qcom_rx_wakelock. I still don't understand it all but it is some issue that the 4.2.2 update came with. It causes major battery drain on some wifi networks and not on some others. It has to do with the wifi connection continuously having to talk to the router and waking the phone up which is also tied to some apps that are syncing. People on nexus's have created patches that fix the issue, but I don't think I'm going to be doing anything like that. I PMd a member to try and get more information.
For now I have two routers at my house and will be switching to using the other router for my wifi connection on my phone to see if it creates the same battery draining issues while in sleep. If I get any more information I will update again. I also think this could explain a lot of the reason that some people are experiencing sub-par battery life while others are getting great battery life. Depending on what router (work, school, home, public place) you are on might make the phone constantly turn itself on and off trying to reconnect or do something with that wifi network. I know many people have had 15 to 20% battery drain overnight then turned wifi off and just stayed on 3g/4g connection and battery drain went to 4 to 5% over night. FYI
I just got the Moto X and have a few things installed. My question is, in the battery mete graph you have screen on and awake. Is the awake always supposed to be on? I'm guessing it is since it has the touchless controls always listening.
Figured why it won't go to sleep. Has anyone ever had it where the phone app gets stuck and stays awake? Only way to get rid of it for me is to reboot.

Any APP to prevent deep sleep?

Hi!
Having troubles with a 520 because once it enters the deep sleep state, it'll start getting Whatsapp notifications only when waking it up.
No battery saving setting is turned on.
An APP that wakes the device from time to time would help.
Thanks.
Perhaps you either have cellular data turned off, have no data signal, or are set to only receive notifications over WiFi? By default, WP turns off WiFi when the screen is off and the phone isn't plugged in. I think there might be an option to change that, but I don't recall where it would be.
There are definitely apps that will cause WiFi to stay on in the background (I think pretty much any streaming music app does this?), but those will wreck the battery life if you just leave them on all day. Apps are also able to periodically (~every 30 minutes) do some stuff in the background even in the phone is sleeping, but I'm not sure if this is allowed to wake up the WiFi and cause it to connect.
If the problem isn't WiFi instead of cellular data, I really don't know what's going on.

Bluetooth maybe on?
Did you try by not putting to Airplane (you can put to Silent or Don't disturb), to see if still Awake all time?
Yeah is still awake
Same shiet here, but on B504. The greenify helped a little.
