P9 b505 stock always awake keep discharging 10% every night. help! - Huawei P9 Questions & Answers

Ive p9 stock firmware never unlocked or rooted ive last update b505
The phone keep discharging all the time and 10% every night when in airplane mode with all process closed
Checking battery usage details i can see the battery dischargin by night with screen off no app using battery and airplane mode on, so wifi and mobile network off.
The problem i can see is that in battery usage details the phone is always AWAKE, when screen off is awake, when airplane mode on is still awake. The awake line is full while the screen, the wifi, etc are never full, but the awake line is full no empty space
I have checked and no apps are running all the time, no apps are set to ignore battery optimization or to run in background, ive tried to uninstall all third party apps but no fix also ive tried to factory reset the phone but no fix
Any help? Cant find any solution brosing the forum and internet

Bluetooth maybe on?
Did you try by not putting to Airplane (you can put to Silent or Don't disturb), to see if still Awake all time?

Yeah is still awake

Same shiet here, but on B504. The greenify helped a little.

the best although a bit demanding way is to check with BetterBatteryStats,
you could also try disabling not-absolutely-necessary features (GPS, some data syncs etc.) to check which decreases battery consumption,
there's also Autorun Manager with which you can disable unnecessary startup apps (lots of them are set to autorun after device start, some may try to update over the net too frequently)
I wonder what firmware you're on... mine (LB1) shows wifi status on the summary screen as well. my phone used to stay awake all night too, until I started turning off wifi for the night (FYI, I shut down the cell data connection when I arrive home, so it's not on for the night either)

Mine is LA1.
And my wifi is off as well as data connection during the night.
Also i realized something wierd. If i activate 3g, Android OS drains battery more than 70% percent. If i activate 2g, then Android OS drains only 10-15%. DAta connection is on for both. There could be a problem with the LA1 kernel maybe but i am not sure.
From what i've read, while (really) sleeping, the note shouldn't take more than 5%, and that seems normal/logical to me. But in my case, it drains 70% and it seems even in plane mode, i just don't get it...

Try disabling Fast Dormancy, it does generate wakelocks on my SGN as my network doesn't support the feature.
Dial *#*#9900#*#* and select "Disable fast dormancy".
That's good for reducing some wakelocks anyway.

I installed betterbatterystats but i did not get it very much.
Should i check something or change some of the settings?
or the program does what is necessary by itself?
I think this is not the case because my phone still does not enter into sleep mode.
@knightnz
I disabled fast dormancy. But i like to ask something.
What is fast dormancy?
Edit: I checked my phone now. There left 75% battery after 10 hours less than normal use. Data and 3g is on. However i unchecked "backup my data". I think this made me gain 10 hours of battery life
BadAss Battery Monitor (free)
Press menu and "App sucker". Go to "wake ups" or something like that. Let the phone run in standby for some while before checking. I bet it's an app that won't go to sleep.
I used to get this quite often but I found a way to stop it. Basically when i disconnected the charger when the screen was off the phone always stayed awake the only way to put it back to normal was to reset the cache in download mode. So i tried disconnecting the charger after putting the screen on first ( unlock phone) and it never happened again.

I have installed BetterBatterStats. When i checked partial wakelocks, the higher count is for AlarmManager (Android System). And the higher percentage (0,5%) is for PowerAMP.
Does this mean anything?
May i ask, how many % does your note consume every x hours? Making a report with your kernel/rom would be good, don't you think? Maybe a poll?

[Q] Phone Idle Battery Drain Issue Sony Xperia SP

Hello,
I have just left my phone yesterday night @ 12am (battery 87%) with Data OFF/Wifi OFF when i wake up in the morning @ 6.30 (Battery 77%) how ? is there any application through which i can monitor the services which actually eat up the battery ? Because i had no issues with Xperia Sola in my past at night it used around 1-2% maximum...with data/wifi off.
Please help...
Use better battery stats
This will show if app or android process is keeping phone awake.
Sent from my C5303 using xda premium
mine gives me 1.4% /hr drain with stamina mode on, i dont even have wifi/data turned on last night.
battery info shows a lot of awake time but the battery stat apps says the phone was in deep sleep 99.1% of the time
i am confused
You seem to have the same problem I describe here 3G and Battery drain
I haven't found any solution yet. Seems to be related to the "Cell Radio"... so, it must be a software problem. The only thing we can do is wait for a new upgrade of the Baseband software. Until that, i recommend you to use the "Only 2G" mode.
Greetings

Use GSM Only network. Turn on stamina mode. It will kill all apps without phone calls, sms, mss, and apps on whitelist.
It will also turn off wifi and data packages when screen is off BUT it will keep/hold your IP number, so when you wake up the phone you will have acces to internet immediately. Whit this options when i fully charge my device, at about 10PM i had 100%. I went to sleep, wake up at 5AM and I still had 100%.
WHen you only turn off wifi and data apps in background will be try to connect and work in background as well. Fact is that you will not recieve any MMS messages with Data OFF.
So. First of all. USE STAMINA MODE

Stamina isn't your solution. What makes Stamina Mode is stop data traffics and wifi, when the screen turns off. But you say that the battery drains happens even when you have data and wifi off. So... Stamina Mode will not help you much.

Battery drains on Maclaws CM11

I'm opening this thread to clean up the Dev thread, since the most probable cause of battery drains are software/configuration related.
Here's my own experience with this matter.
Most of the drains I've seen are related to Location settings and Google Now. It seems Google's Location Reporting and Location History keep pinging WiFi for the location at a fairly high rate, so keeping the phone Awake and/or the WiFi running all the time. An usual indication of this is that in BetterBatteryStats you get:
1) Screen On % very low
2) WiFi On 100% of the time
3) WiFi Running 100% of the time.
4) Awake with moderate-to-high %.
To test it, here's what should be done:
1) Get BetterBatteryStats (BBS), enable Root, install it as system app (in advanced settings). Reboot.
2) Disable WiFi and GPS completely, preferably leaving Data Network also off. You may go all the way and just turn on airplane mode.
3) Leave the phone idle for at least 1h and check that there is no battery drain.
If you get any considerable drain (more than 5%/h), check Kernel Wakelocks and Partial wakelocks, or try again with 2G networks only. You may have a baseband problem. Consider this step as your "control group" as it ensures nothing in the hardware or in the ROM is wrong.
If there is no drain, enable WiFi and GPS again, but make sure all this settings are UNCHECKED:
1) Settings->WiFi-> Advanced: "Network notification", "Keep wifi on during sleep" set to "Never", "Scanning always available".
2) Settings->Location->Google Location Reporting: "Location Reporting" set to off and "Location History" set to off. Or just disable Location completely.
3) Check Settings->Security -> Device Administrators -> Disable at least Android Device Manager. If you can, disable everything else in this screen, such as Airdroid, Cerberus, etc
4) App drawer -> Google Settings -> Search -> Set Google Now to Off. You can also configure Android Device Manager here.
Leave the phone idle again for 1h and check BBS. In theory you shouldn't need to recharge completely, just enable the watchdog in BBS. Always check the wakelocks too.
You should get this on BBS:
1) Screen On % very low
2) WiFi On 100% of the time
3) WiFi Running with low % (anything less than 50% is ok, depending on Sync settings and background apps)
4) Awake with low %.
5) Deep Sleep with almost 100%
Go back enabling stuff as needed, one by one, leave the phone idle and check BBS. Rinse and repeat until you find the culprit.
One thing, make sure you do this after letting the phone sync some of the stuff. Don't do this immediately after a setting up a Google account.
Some people also reported that doing a factory reset solves the drains. It's always recommended anyway.
Any other hints are also appreciated.
For people with trouble making BBS work, Try getting the latest version, enable Root in Settings->Advanced and them System App, also in Settings-> Advanced.
Also:
1) When the phone is charging it WILL BE AWAKE WITH BOTH CORES, ALL THE TIME. Depending on the governor used, both cores may even stay at full speed (aka 1GHz). This is BY DESIGN and stock ROMs does that too. So any measurement while the phone is charging is useless.
2) Most "calibration" procedures are myths and don't have any effect. Erasing batterystats.bin also does nothing to increse battery life or remove drains (but may solve some charging issues, still unclear).
Very interesting.. Good thread and good options to test our battery drain ! thanks for the post.
I'll try this when I get home from school, thanks.
Weird thing happened last night, I thought the battery drain was gone when I recalibrated, but my phone discharged over night, weird thing is my settings show the phone didn't go to sleep once during the entire night, even though it was on airplane mode and I had already used it for like 3 or 4 hours with no apparent brain
There is a lot of battery drain only when WiFi in on. Even if the phone is idle.
I'm on:
Maclaw CM 11.0 [20131210]
I8190XXAMJ2
I'll do the exact tests and post my results.
Do you get notifications with wifi set to never during sleep?

Use the 1st step I wrote above with BBS. Check Kernel Wakelocks and Partial Wakelocks. You will be able to pinpoint exaclty what is keeping your phone awake.
I was about to start a thread on the same topic but my problem is with Carbon Rom 4.4.2 . The phone never goes into deep sleep and is awake 100% of the time. I'm attaching what I see as the culprit in B.B.S. I already disabled sync and yet the wakeclocks are sync related I hope anyone can help me with this.

Notice that the Count is 0 on both GoogleServices related wakelocks. To me this seems that Chrome and something else (maybe G+?) are trying to sync (perhaps the first one?) but are not getting enough network time/bandwidth to do so. I suggest you connect to an wifi, turn on the sync, and leave the phone awake for a while (try not to use the network very much). See if that solves. If not, backup and factory reset are your friends.

Note 5 Battery Drain/wakelock and DCMProvider

Hi, i have been facing battery drain from past two weeks in my note 5.at night if battery is 90% than at morning it use 10% and moved to 80% without any use. And second the DCMProvider continously draining battery. And clear data, force stop doesn't work. I have set everything accurate no data sync on auto. Wifi scan is off, wifi on during sleep is also set to never. Two days back i reinstall firmware through smart switch buy DCMPROVIDER Comes back. Don't why it use to drain battery. Before two weeks every thing was okay. At that time i check through safe mode, system app cause wake lock during night at sleep. And than dcmprovider comes and reinstall didn't work.
Freeze it
I have tried to stop it, and set it to off on auto start after boot. But it comes back. My phone is in warranty and i don't want to root it to look into depth and stop this.

I had the same problem with my N920C, did a full factory reset and it still went from 100% to 30% overnight without any usage. Then I found this app: Gservicefix
I followed the instructions to run it and even with WiFi and Location left on it now drains less than 10% overnight. It also fixed the wireless charging problem so I no longer need to use DayDream mode to keep it from stopping the wireless charge.
I have no idea what this app does but I have a stock, non-rooted Note 5 running Android 5.1.1 and it has worked wonders for my battery life without having to mess about with settings of disable/stop other apps or services
I should add I have no connection with the software or its developer.
Thanks, i try this app and let you know.
For DCMProvider i don't know, but for night high drain. Now phone going back to normal.
Follow these steps to stop idle high drain.
On your GPS and select only wifi and Mobile network and off GPS.
Than go into lock and security and other security and than device administration and off all. It might save high idling drain. And syc should be off so that it can't auto syc. Android beam, nfc all other are also at off.

DCMProvider still draining battery. The app doesn't worked for me. But the night high drain in idle comes down due to change of some settings which i mentioned in my one post.

Factory Reset does NOT solve S10 Battery Drain (15-20%) when Idle

I noticed my Samsung S10 T-Mobile Snapdragon would drain about 15-20% overnight while asleep (6-8 hours) since last week or so. The drain during the day is also significantly worse, but it's easier to compare the numbers when on idle. The first weeks that I had the phone, I was losing less than 5% overnight (6-8 hours). I am not sure if this was caused by the security updates, carrier updates, or a rogue application. I made no changes to the phone settings that I can recall. My phone was connected to WIFI overnight, with cellular, cellular data, and Bluetooth on. Prior to going to bed I would charge the phone to about 80% and unplug it.
I installed AccuBattery after reading some forums and it showed that my battery drain overnight was about 2-3% PER hour. AccuBattery also indicated that my phone was in deep sleep +85% of the time. The breakdown per application does not total the 15-20% so there's something else draining the battery. Eventually, I uninstalled AccuBattery to see if it was contributing to the drain, and it made no difference.
Below are most of the things that I have tried and tested overnight while I slept (6-8 hours), all of them have been UNSUCCESSFUL at solving the battery drain. I might have forgotten some other settings that I have changed. Keep in mind that this took me over a week of playing around with these settings, and checking the battery right before and after I went to sleep.
Restarted phone (There's always someone who would suggest this if not written down)
Cleared Google Services, Google, and other Apps Cache and Data
Cleared Cache Memory (Through recovery menu - Tried this about 5 times at this point)
Reset the big 3 (Reset settings, Reset network settings, Reset accessibility settings)
Enabled Airplane Mode (Cellular, WiFi, Bluetooth Off)
Disabled Location
Disabled Sync
Disabled Always on Display
Disabled ALL Motions and Gestures (e.g. Lift to Wake, Double tap to wake, Smart Stay, etc.)
Disabled Video enhancer
Disabled Game Launcher
Disabled Bixby Routines
Disabled Nearby Device Scanning
Disabled WiFi Scanning and Bluetooth Scanning (Improve Accuracy)
Disabled Show icon when screen is off (under fingerprints - from Samsung Forums)
Disabled certain Apps (AR Emoji, ARCore, Briefing, Chrome, Game Launcher, Google, Facebook, Secure Folder, etc.)
Forced Stop certain Apps (Bixby, Secure WiFi, etc. - they seem to all come back after a couple of minutes anyway)
Enabled/Disabled Adaptive Power Saving (Tried both settings, made no difference)
Enabled/Disabled Auto Optimization (Tried both settings, made no difference)
Switched between Power Modes (Optimized to Medium, made no difference)
Change lock screen and home screen to a 100% black wallpaper
Ran Safe Mode overnight with ALL of the settings above (Airplane with Location and Sync Off, etc.) Still got a 15% drain overnight.
Last night after I got fed up with playing with the countless of options, I decided to Factory Reset the phone thinking that this would solve my battery drain problem. Well, WRONG. Still got a 15% battery drain overnight with only the core apps installed, in airplane mode, location and sync disabled, and other settings disabled. I did NOT restore any backups from Samsung or Google, nor installed any additional apps that did not come with the phone.
I have complained to Samsung through their Samsung Members application under Feedback. If you guys are on the same boat, I suggest we all start complaining so that they can start taking a look at this and hopefully release a fix.
If you guys have any tips or anything has worked for you guys, please let me know.

If its still draining that much even in flight mode, then something is definitely wrong. Seems like you've tried everything. Can you not get a replacement under warranty from where you purchased it? Sounds faulty.
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I have had this same issue with my S7. Hence my reply. At that time I have traced it down to a certain kernel process. The only way to resolve this was to replace the motherboard. A factory reset didnt helped either.
Later when i investigated it further it was like an Interrupt request for sleep mode. Eleminating the phone going to deep sleep. Than you will see drains like this
My advice. Get the device replaced. It was the only way to resolve the problem on my S7. Hardware replacement

I installed BetterBatteryStats and got a ~20 drain over 9 hours of standby while sleeping. The phone was untouched for 9 hours, airplane mode on, location off, sync off, and other settings off.

Also, how did you manage to get your phone replaced? By Samsung? I am past the 30 day return policy so I am not sure how easy/hard it will be for the to replace my device/motherboard. What did you say to them exactly?
Reflash firmware?
Which update are you on?
After the ASCA, but before the finger print sensor update, I had amazing battery life, less than 1% per hour on idle.
But after finger print sensor update, it's about 2% per hour on idle.
Maybe reflash ASCA without the fps update? If it's possible

Spoke to someone in Reddit and he flashed his phone to the Febraury update. It still had bad idle drain.
Additional things I have tried recently overnight with no success
Disabled fingerprint
Removed SIM Card
Cleared memory cache again
I'll wait for the April update and see if that solves things. If not, I guess I'll drop by one of their service centers/genuis bars.
What a terrible experience...
Yeah that does not seem normal.
With airplane mode drop 0.2%/hours.
Sorry you are having bad issues. I would try to install U1 firmware and see if that helps.

I'm having the same issue after the recent updates on AT&T. I used to get close to 9 hours SOT and now I barely get 4. Nothing unusual in the battery stats either so I'm not sure what's going on.
Same here. The idle drain is completely insane! It's a shame that the phone suffers from issues like this when you compare it to the price we paid for it. From what I can tell the issue stems from the kernel not being able to figure out the proper frequencies for the cores in idle which leads to **** performance. I'm gonna try to flash the asd4 firmware via odin once. If it doesn't work I'm gonna get a replacement if possible. Currently I get around 4 hours of sot no matter what I do. Doesn't matter what I do which is super weird. My s7 edge which was at least 2 years old gave me a better sot more regularly, so I'm definitely pretty irritated with this. Will update once I flash over odin.

To all who has this issues. First thing to check is .. Does the phone ever enters deep sleep ....
I used this app on my S7..
Wakelock Detector. Can be found in google play.. Sorry cant post links due to my new status here.
A teraz Rozwiazanie . Wychodzimy w MENU - ZAAWANSOWANE FUNKCJE - RUCH I GESTY* - i odznaczamy opcję DOTKNIJ DWUKROTNIE ABY WYBUDZIĆ. następnie w MENU - EKRAN BLOKADY - ALWAYS ON DISPLAY - TRYB WYŚWIETLACZA zmieniamy opcję DOTKNIJ ABY POKAZAĆ na którąś z pozostałych lub całkowicie wyłączamy ALWAYS ON DISPLAY . To powinno rozwiązać problem z baterią w moim przypadku kończąc**pracę**z telefonem w kieszeni po 8 godzinach miałem 30% Baterii a teraz 70% .

BetterBatteryStats shows it goes to deep sleep 99% of the time overnight. No abnormal kernel wakelocks/partial wakelocks/alarms.
A couple of other things I have tried recently unsuccessfully while sleeping (6-8 hours) over the past week:
Safe Mode
Safe Mode + airplane mode
Safe Mode + airplane mode + cache wipe + Google services wipe
Safe Mode + airplane mode + cache wipe + Google services wipe + Remaining Apps in Sleep Mode (Battery Settings>Sleeping Apps)
Safe Mode + airplane mode + cache wipe + Google services wipe + Remaning Apps in Sleep Mode + Max Battery Mode (instead of Optimized Mode)
The best idle drain I got overnight was 15% drain over ~6 hours (~2.5%/hour)
I'll try disabling the Adaptive Battery/Auto Optimization while I have all my Apps in Sleep Mode an Safe Mode. I'll also try another Factory Reset this weekend.
If that doesn't work, I'll schedule an appointment with one of their service centers.
This sucks. My 2-year old S7 Edge still has better battery life than this.
I remember reading a post on Reddit from a guy saying he had a current leak on his faulty motherboard. Maybe you got the same issue on yours.

After reading your comment, I decided to test the phone completely off overnight.
To my surprise the battery drain was still present. From 5PM to 730AM my battery went down from 87% to 60%!!! So about ~2%/hour while the S10 was COMPLETELY OFF.
I'll be taking my phone to the service center sometime this week. For anybody else having crazy drain problems, turn your device completely off and see if the drain is still present. It might be a hardware issue
