I have a strange problem which more and more frustates me!
ROM: Tonyp build version 4
Kernel: 2.6.39.4-Kowalski-Exp
Baseband: LGP990AT-00-V20l-262-XX-Oct-21-2011+0
WLAN: normally OFF
Situation:
If i use my LG frequently (e.g. each 30 min once) there is no problem.
If i leave it untouched (e.g. more then 1-2 hours) it shuts off. Overnight it is everytime gone/off. I i try a call i get the mailbox so it is really shutted off.
Using Power off/on will normaly not start it, rebuilding battery also did not help in most of the cases. But connecting to power supply gave me everytime the possibility to start the phone. Battery is then also not empty and has still x % and i can again normally work with the phone.
What i try:
- Deinstall several Apps (e.g. Anti-Virus Lookout)
- max CPU set back from 1,2 to 1 GHz
- disabled zRam
- disabled all other memory settings like Tonyp memory optimization
- Kowalski Manager: disabled all WLAN power settings
Any suggestions are welcome!

Hi all.
I'm experiencing some sort of battery leak, but nothing is jumping out at me. Went to bed ~ 95% and woke up to ~ 20%.
Battery Use Stats:
Cell Standby - 44% (TWS - 0%)
Phone Idle - 45%
Voice Calls - 6%
Display - 3%
Dialer - 2%
Here is the software info:
Firmware - 2.1 Fresh Toast
Baseband - 2.42.00.03.10
PRI - 1.70_003
PRL - 60664
Running OC Widget on detect settings & autokiller on aggressive.
Using SpareParts - Partial Wake Usage - Calendar has the largest bar above Android System (yet I really don't use the calendar for appointments).
Any thoughts/tips/tricks would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
Jerry
I'm assuming you have reboot the phone?
In addition, on your OC widget what your setting for screen on and screen off?
I'm still playing with setting that best for me and the phone. However, this is my current setting for OC widget: for screen on 729600 for min and Max and screen off 245760 for min and max. I saw if I did't select differ freq for screen off, the CPU was run at same speed at screen on. Compare the 2.1.1 I'm getting average 8-10 hr of battery. I'm guessing OC might drain battery faster. Maybe I'm wrong.
Yes, I have rebooted since loading. I used the auto-detect settings for the OC Widget, but I guess that could be an issue. 8-10 hours of battery seems low to me? I was getting near 24hrs average (some higher, some lower) on Fresh 2.0d.
Here are the settings:
OC Widget Settings:
Screen On - 245760,384000
Screen Off - 245760,384000
I guess that could be an issue.

Strange I have mine set higher than your for screen on.
Still battery hr for me. I know 2.1.1 I was getting at least a day an half with moderate use.
Like abcdfv said what your awake and uptime?
Up time: 20:35
Awake time: 5:57
Awake time looks good.
Try this setting on your OC widget:
480000 min and 576000 max. It may or may not help.
Thanks for all of your help.
Would this be for both screen on & off?
Screen on.
For screen off I have mine set at 245760 for min and max. So far battery life is OK. Since unplug at 7:45 AM (100%) and now it at 66%. Few calls, web surfing and facebook. Roughly 1 hr 20 mins usage of phone and 4hr 30 mins standby. I know compare to 2.1.1 it not great battery life.
Thanks - I'll try that.
So far, I might head back to Fresh 2.1.1 if this battery life stays like it is running Fresh Toast.
You could also try running RegawMod, I have had noting but good to say about the ROM so far and battery life is wonderful! I use Strict I think on ak though., stay around 60MB free ram if that helps at all.
Thanks for the help. I decided to factory wipe, wipe SD and cache. I then flashed Fresh 2.1.1 and my battery life is back to normal. Might play with Fresh Toast some more later.
Thanks for all of your help.
Hopefully xperia users to conserve energy while the battery driver is fixed.
PLS state:
1) screen on idle battery usage xxxmA (no airplane mode with screen on)
2)standby screen off xxxmA
3)as much as u can on what u did, which build
4) any other optional tips.
PS. Use the currentwidget from the forum to check. Do not download from the market as it is older and xdandroid will show 0mA (incompatible)
1) mine is 220mA
2)standby 190~210
3) started running with LCD density- 190 on first boot , default in tremeres 27/9 build is 200.
Advanced task killer - under security set to low, restart the app and kill EVERYTHING. Absolute minimum backlight.(That's all I think)
4)Running music during standby helps abit...
Anyone out there has a better battery usage?

My Note can be laggy in random situation and I am trying to figure out the cause of it. Some of the RANDOM lagginess happened in the following situation:
1). Turn ON from sleep mode --> open built in Browser --> hit "Back" button to quit Browser, Note lag for about 2-3 seconds before the operation is completed.
2). From Home Screen --> click on "Application" to bring TouchWiz app list --> click on a "Folder" --> Note lag for 2-3 seconds before opening the folder
3). Open an application (ANY application) --> click "Back" to go to the previous app screen --> Note lag for 2-3 seconds before the operation is completed.
So you see, in some cases, the Note is really fast and in other case, really laggy.
I use WatchDog to monitor CPU usage to alert me when ANY processes (system or user-apps) is using more than 40% CPU. Watchdog alert me that these 2 CPU is using MORE than 40% of CPU every 5 seconds, especially when the device is on sleep.
- suspend --> average 48% cpu time
- events/0 --> average 46% cpu time
NOTE: The average above was done over the span of 4 hours
What is "events/0"? More over, why would these 2 processes use almost 50% of my CPU time every 5 seconds?
If the above process using 50% of CPU is "NORMAL", what would cause the lagginess? Do you guys experience these also?
2-3 seconds seems extensive. I have never used Watchdog - perhaps it is causing the lagginess if it is checking processes aggressively.
Could be ROM/Kernel combination also as well as governor settings. Perhaps change your governor to performance and see if that gets rid of the problem (will drain your battery quicker) or ondemand. If problem persists try a different ROM/Kernel combination - some are laggier than others depending on your phone.

Watchdog is a CPU monitoring process application and the reason I installed it is because the lag issue before I install Watchdog.
I use stock ROM, so I don't have governor app in it.
Very unusual for stock ROM to be that laggy. What other applications have you installed recently? Would try to uninstall them and see if lagginess disappears.

@lanwarrior:
Whatever is happening is a direct result of something that you have done/installed/setup..
I have stock rom/root and my results are that in test cases #1 & #3 above where you see 2-3 secs, i see ~0.1-0.2secs
I assume you are setting up constant test conditions, ie
task manager>active>close active apps
task manager>ram>clear memory
settings>apps>running services>stopping all non critical services

I do use ZDBox, an app that close active apps when the screen is off.
I haven't install anything that results in significant system changes. As a matter of fact, I create a list of apps that run in the background so I know what they are.
It seems that many of you don't have that problem, so I'll go back and start uninstalling unnecessary apps and see what happen.
Hey! I've just bought S5 yesterday and I know it's still premature to evaluate my phone's performance. I've made my first 100% to 16% with the phone and my stats were.
Phone on: 18h
Screen: 3h
Bright auto -5, wifi on, 3g on all time.
I find it is not as much as I expected but I must admit there was an update in between of the OS, and many updates in the play store which probably drained my battery higher than normally. Then I've checked tips for reducing consumption and that what I made:
- install battery guru
- disable syncs in google account
- disable updates in play store (notifications and so)
- disable some samsung apps
- disable gestures and movements
- location on power saving mode
However, my intention in this post is to gather more tips you are using with samsung rom (no root). Disable accounts or whatever you do...
Anyway, I guess I should expect an improvement in the battery life in coming charges...right?
Thanks!
Battery guru even sucks more battery than its saves, because it needs google service -.-'
I use:
Faux kernel - with my own tweaks, for hopefull best performance and battery life. OC 2.7
Greenify - to Slumber apps / System apps (Paid)
Unbounce - to lower the wake ups etc. (Paid)
BootManager - For faster start up / Battery saving
Stop Log - Turning off trash for speed up and battery life
Everything is turned off except:
Wifi - When home and somewere were its not locked.
Mobile data - Always on
Removed:
Idunno what its called but it has a blue icon and beammode?
Turned off:
Svoice
Samsung Link and that other samsung like app
Samsung push
Software update

Faux Settings for me, higest what ive got so far using it is 17 hours phone use, with 4:35 screen time on and it was still on 24% had to charge it because of my date
CPU Clocks:
Max: 2726400

I would love to change the black/gray to Pure black, to save more battery life, Gravity box could do this trick, but the app froze my phone somehow, now that its gone it works fine like before. so if you can change it do it.
Thanks! I've removed battery guru. I know that without rooting phone I may not be able to disable many things but I guess I can avoid some wakelocks coming from the pre installed software. Right? Which of them could be? Should I disable Samsung account? Any app that replaces S health in using the heart rate sensor? I think this is the only functionality I would have to keep which needs a Samsung account
Summing up , things that could make android os and system android reduce

My #1 tip would be before you look at how bad ur battery is. realise these are smartphones. and we buy them because of connectivity. why buy a smartphone if you keep turning of its ability to be smart
these phones run HD displays constant internet connectivity and all sorts of sync options
Sock12345 - I don't have it rooted yet. I'm thinking about it because I don't want to have the warranty avoided. I don't know how is the law concerning this in Spain. However, I would like to root it so that I can find out thexactly drainers and get rid of them. I will check this possibility
-PiLoT- you're totally right. Maybe I am asking too much to the phone which works incredibly well. But I have the feeling that some pre installed apps maybe battery drainers. Maybe they do not drain as much as I think...
Hello everyone!
Usually I am not active on forums because usually most answers are somewhere in the vast internet. But this time I gave up.
I have a problem with my Note 5's (SM-N920L) fast battery drain. Now it even goes 20% per hour when I use it.
My phone is already about 1,5 year old and I use it a lot, so I read that might be a battery problem so I tried booting it into safe mode and it solved the problem so it seems there is a problem with some app or other functionality, not a battery. So I have factory reset my phone and it was working fine for maybe 3 days, then afternight it drained batterry ultra fast again.
I tried uninstalling any apps that I had installed the day before it broke again, but it didn't help
I have also rooted my phone previously to try to find the reason for fast drain with Gsam stats and WakeLock but I still couldn't find out what's the cause of the problem.
I've seen some posts about deep sleep issue, but my battery drain is qute ok when I'm not using it.
Did anyone have a similar problem? Do you have an idea what can I do to repair it?
Greetings,
Paweł (Paul) Sawicki
Recently I've been trying a different set of tweaks and have the best battery life I've ever had with this device.
DO NOT USE GREENIFY. As it drains the battery a lot these days.
-Rom: PixelRom v6 (Samsung based, all other roms suck for our device, this is odexed and the fastest)
-Kernel: Fuel kernel.
-Cpu governor:
Big: zzmove
Small: interactive
-Flash the lastest Magisk 13 beta.
-Download - then install the following magisk zip plugins through the magisk app:
-(Deleted crossbreeder, as it causes system hangs)
-DozeGMS
-https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk
Then install busybox (use one which installs successfully). Then hebf from the play store, don't apply any profiles. Disable the extra logging and kernel panics - set it to stay on boot.
-Battery tab - Enable improve battery, low ram device, instant doze.
And I do recommend making your wifi turn off when the screen goes off.
Welcome to three days of battery with frequent usage.

Thank you

Thank you for your detailed reply! :highfive:
I'll try to install the set you've mentioned and will get back soon with results. I hope this will be the solution.
Have a nice day!

I can only find Crossbreeder Ultra Lite. The Crossbreeder Lite thread says it's for 5.1 and below. What one is right to use?
Check system processes. I found out recently that com.android.systemui uses 15% cpu even on empty home screen and heats up my device without any reason. It was definately the cause of my battery drain. I've been trying disabling apps and unnececery options, and suddenly ui stoped draining and went down to normal 0.5% cpu consuimption. But I don't know exactly what I changed. My latest action was to update all Galaxy Apps.
Actually - don't use that Crossbreeder plugin, it seems to cause system hangs. Everything else though is fine - it'll make the battery life sing!
I also accepted this device just had bad battery life. But now it's never been so good.
IMO Samsung should have used a single processor and use a bigger battery.

Can any body help?
