[Q] How to install a new ROM on Xperia V - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

Yes, I know, just download it and flash it with Flashtool... Problem is that all the ROMs I find are either .zip or .ftf format, while Flashtool only looks for .img, .sin or .elf files.
I have unlocked the bootloader and copied the Cyanogen ROM to my SD card, but trying to boot into recovery mode with CWM doesn't work, it just boots normally. Same with pressing either volume button when starting up.

Read post two of the all in one thread, it's the very first thread uh the Q &A section
Flashtool uses ftf files.
To get into recovery you have to install it first.

Flash kernel from CyanogenMod (Available in the zip file itself).
If you're flashing using flashtool, remember to select fastboot because fastboot is for flashing kernels and the other one is for ftfs.
After flashing the kernel, boot into CWM. Wipe all data, dalvik cache and system. Then proceed to flashing the zip file.

[Q] LT30 stuck in bootscreen

I made the worst mistake ever. Somehow the flashing of the boot image to my LT30 went wrong. I did go into recovery and put the CM10 on my phone but now it will not boot. I can get into recovery but there is no readable back-up on my SD card. I can get into recovery.
Anybody any idea what to do?

Flash the cm 10 boot.img and reboot.
If that doesnt work, flash a stock ftf in flashtool and start again.
Thanks but I can only boot into recoverry and not flash mode.
you can always enter flash mode to flash a stock ftf. Use flash tool, download a stock ftf and follow the instruction in flashtool

Help. My device is stuck on boot animation - cwm and twrp will not load

The title says it all.
I went ahead and tried to install Paranoid android RC2, I flash it then subsequently the GApps using TWRP. Now, the device is stuck forever in the boot animation and neither TWRP or CWM (installed with DualZRecovery) will work.
Is there any way by which I can somehow revert what has happened here? This has never happened to me before.
Needless to say if I can avoid having a $400 paperweight, I have sworn to never risk custom roms on my main phone again.
Just flash some kernel with recovery and restore your backup. If you don't have backup, download some of stock or custom roms and flash via Flashtool or recovery......or just use search function

As I said, the main problem is that for some ungodly reason CWM is not working despite the fact that it is what i used to flash PA into the phone in the first place. I have never had a case where CWM itself failed. I need to be in Fastboot mode for flashtool right?
Well the phone wont even go into recovery so im not sure how to get it into fastboot.
1. Download some of newest stock ftf and put it to firmware folder in Flashtool
2. Start Flashtool, press flash btn and pick stock rom
3. Press vol- and connect usb simultaneously and wait about 3 min.
That's it.
Your phone is brand new stock :good:

I think it was because I forgot to wipe the dalvik cache after installation of the ROM - although why CWM itself stopped working I have no clue.
How did u unlock your bootloader? Flashing aosp base rom require u to unlocked your bootloader first bcos of the custom kernel..if u unlocked your bootloader, did u fastboot flash boot.img?

[Q] What am i missing?

Hi Folks,
Well i have run into two issues following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2478019
I am using the Locked Bootloader instruction's and am up to
"Reboot in Touch CWM recovery (Camera button when the phone reboot), Wipe Data, Cache and Dalvik Cache."
The bit causing me a senior moment is this "Unmount System, Flash the rom AND SuperUser fix"
Which ROM? From where? and do i use flashtool? Volume down/plug into pc? Then after doing that it also states to flash "12.1.A.0.266 kernel only" where do i download the kernel only?
I have downloaded
Xperia_SP_eXistenZ_Ultra_2.0.0.zip - 848,60MB - From thread linked above
C5303_12.1.A.0.266_Central European 1 CE1.ftf - 783,787KB - From this site under Xperia SP General if i recall
kernel.266.ftf - 7,616KB - From this site can't remember which thread off hand
Thanks for any pointers to where this old codger is going wrong, cheers.
On phone so can't go into too much detail. But ftf files can only be flashed using flash tools and custom roms in the zip format are flashed using cwm or other recoveries. So the room in your case is existenz.
The kernel has to be flashed using flash tools seems like you have already got it. The reason it's so complex is because as yet there is no way to root the 266 firmware, so you have to root an old firmware, install a recovery, install the rom and then install the new kernel so the ROM works.

Thank you for the reply,
I might just have to have a stab at it tomorrow as phone is rooted with cwm as instructions.
so i need to read up on installing rom from cwm, if i am reading it right i do the Wipe Data, Cache and Dalvik Cache from cwm touch then unmount system and with Xperia_SP_eXistenZ_Ultra_2.0.0.zip on external sd card i use cwm again to flash from zip then use flashtool to flash the kernel.266.ftf and job a good,un.
I Finally took the plunge after getting fed up waiting for UK-O2-Pay Monthly to release and i have to say it was well worth it. Pretty dam straight forward and now updated to eXistenZ Ultra 2.1.5 on a LB.
So much snappier, everything feels smoother/faster and some nice touches added.
Just posted here for my future reference that i actually did do it.

pccompanion only shows 2 phones in the upper left corner with download logos and nothing else at all.... (can't click the two phones btw)
Go in recovery and execute a Factory Reset or Install a Rom from recovery (iHackers, Slim or Omni). At last if you want to go Stock flash a FTF from Flashtool. Simply like that.

so now i've succeeded to install the FTF from flashtool, the software is still on a boot loop what am i doing wrong ?
The ftf included with flashtool is.not what you.need. You need a ftf firmware from the mega thread in general. Locatetyou device in post and select your regions version or the generic versions. I recommend to flash the ftf that matches with your current install.
You also can enter recovery and wipe dalvic cache and factory reset and it should boot.
If not you must flash ftf. Ensure you select to wipe all and nothing checked in excluded.

[Q] Need Xperia Z1 C6902 Default Bootloader for 14.4.A.0.108

Hi,
Please provide be the Boot file which I can flash on 14.4.A.0.108 to remove the existing cwm recovery.
I think you mean to flash a stock kernel to remove recovery.
Just flash a stock FTF and exclude everything except kernel and also make sure their is nothing ticked in the wipe section.
On the other hand, if you mean how do you remove recovery when you have not unlocked the bootloader just delete the ramdisk from System/ bin using root explorer.
Thanks for the quick fix :]
Is it possible to create a ftf file which will restore the stock bootloader only, I mean the ftf file that contains only kernel.
Please let me know the files from PC companion that needs to be bundled to create the same.
Thanking you in anticipation.
Take a full FTF and delete files inside it so only these are left
http://prntscr.com/4qj7nt
But if you have a full FTF just exclude everything except the kernel and makes sure none of the wipe boxes are ticked in flashtool
This will only work if you have recovery via having it in a custom kernel. Also if you are on a non-stock based rom you will get a bootloop.
If you installed recovery via rooting or by Dual recovery this will not work as the recovery is not in the kernel, its in system/bin
Thanks for the tips.
Created one kernel file and was able to remove the cwm recovery also.
Just 1 more question, As I locked the bootloader again, is it possible to install CWM recovery without unlocking the bootloader?
I tried flashing the boot.img for the respective build using fastboot, but it failed possibly because of locked bootloader. Is there any workaround?
Yes it is. Just install the recovery for locked bootloaders
