Hi...I Had recently rooted my n7000 via to a zip file with busybox in stock recovery .plus I'm also on stock kernel with stock jb 4.1.2 ...I would like to change to philz kernel which also comes as a root plus cwm zip file .so do I have to unroot to flash philz kernel with cwm recovery or can I straight away flash philz kernel +cwm along with the root file as mentioned in philz post dated 21.8.13 with title philz-cwm6 n7000 v 5.11.2 stock kernel
And btw I'm a total noob...so pls pardon me for the retarded question

you only need to flash the kernel zip file from recovery.. no need to flash anything else or unroot
Thanks a lot man:beer:

Can i just flash straight to the fransco kernel included inside the kindroid v3.0 package
Or i have to flash the abyss first
This part is so confusing
There's no need for Abyss Kernel if you are still on Gingerbread. Abyss is very often used because it's an Gingerbread Kernel with a very easy detectable recovery in red.
You can use Mobile Odin PRO with Full Wipe to flash stock ICS (LRG) with CF Root Kernel. After that you can install Kingdroid.

So what u mean is that
I just can use the CWM recovery to flash the v3 kingdroid directly onto my N7000 right?
The safer way is the one I described above but you can try to install right away, but don't forget Fullwipe when you are still on Gingerbread.

Cwm recovery is cwm in recovery mode..
Cwm manager is cwm in ur desktop..
LRG kernel have conflict with superSU..
yes, u can use LRK for ur LR1..
Notecore had been erase emmc bug n had been patched..
CF just stock kernel which has given root access..
Notecore V.10.2 is recommended choice..

By flashing a safe kernel like Goku, Speedmod or Notecore for your stock TW ICS you'll get a safe cwm...it is up to you which one you prefer, just try them out...
As I know Speedmod is very stable (no oc/uv but battery friendly), Goku is undervolted/not oc'ed (don't know the voltage table) with a 100MHz frequency, but it makes no sence 'cause 100MHz use the same voltage as 200MHz...and finally there is Notecore with an eye more on performance than battery life (but it is good as well regarding battery)...if you decide for Notecore, flash the STD-version first (not every Note can handle the oc'ed version).
To switch from TW ROM to CM9/CM10 it is recommended to go back to GB via PC Odin to do a fullwipe from there to safely switch over to CM9/CM10. Other's only flash Abyss (a GB-kernel) without going back to GB to do the full wipe, but I read something about that there COULD be some problems at the end...you'd NEVER flash CM9/CM10 directly from TW ICS stock or custom ROM!!!
Ok, so happy flashing for you
thanks for your rich info advices bro, a few questions.
1. custom kernel will render from official ota updates?
2. will mess up my current app, data? like notecore will reverse sd n ext sd
3. needs to restore backup after flashing?

1.-> I don't think that OTA is possible for rooted devices, but via Kies (yes, this buggy software) you'll get official updates if rooted I've read...I always flash my FW via Mobile Odin. You can get the stock FW's on sammobile f.e.!
2.-> No, Notecore overwrites only the stock kernel...your apps'n'data should be safe! The built-in CWM of Notecore kernel shows the correct paths for internal and external sd!
3.-> Before flashing anything you'd allways backup your apps with TB f.e.! And before flashing the kernel, you'd wipe cache/dalvik cache (not DATA!) or use the jbroid kernel cleaning script (this wipes cache, dalvik and fragments of old kernel for a clean flash)! After a kernel flash there is no need for a restore backup if all went as it should.
When on Speedmod, Goku or Notecore you can also do a nandroid backup before flashing any other kernel (I allways do).
And just to clear things before you'll try to flash...You have a rooted device already???
ok thank you :thumbup:that clears my doubts, yes im already rooted with mobile odin but no cwm injected well m ready to try out..

is it original firmware DDLR9 ? or custom ROM based on DDLR9 ?
if original firmware, I believe you have to use ODIN (PC / Mobile), as it comes normally in ODIN base flashable file.
if it is a custom ROM, normally it is flashable zip file, which you can just flash over from CWM recovery, and you can do it under Philz kernel CWMrecovery.
Root access ?
No need to worry. Once you flash the firmware, you may flash back Philz kernel DDLR9. And you will be rooted again.
Note :
if you flash original firmware, even from ODIN PC, you won't get any triangle. Don't worry. as it is original from Samsung.

what r u gonna do after u have installed this ROM ?
Why does my recovery change to 6.0.1.4 Philz when i had 5v recovery before installing new custom rom. I installed Crash rom. On my galaxy S3 there is not such things as recovery change after installing new rom. Does S3 have separate recovery and galaxy Note not?
Recovery is part of the kernel, you must have flashed philz kernel to get root.

Tapatalking on my GT-N7000
Hi Guys,
I have been trying to flash CM10 after I finished playing around with the latest XXLSA JB leak. I also had installed the fixed PhilZ kernel on this ROM. However I am facing the status 7 error when I am trying to install the CM10 zip from my CWM. I attempted search and it said that flashing the original Boot.img should be able to help me. I tried that but still no respite.
I am currently on the XXLS2 leak with PhilZ stock kernel and CWM.

Check if your zip file is corrupted? MD5 ok?
Btw you should post this at Q&A section instead of General.
I had installed the same zip earlier and it had installed fine. So I know that the zip and md5 are perfectly fine.

Did you reboot recovery after flashing Philz Kernel? I had the same problem. I´ve done all wipes, formatet cache, system ect. Then it works. I think the thing is to reboot the recovery after flashing the Kernel!
I tried reboot recovery as well as reboot system. No help. Does not work from stock recovery either.

isn't LRT an ICS Kernel? I am on XXSL2 right now and I have flashed quite a few ROMs using this kernel earlier. This trouble has started after i Installed the XXLSA leak.
As phillz said in the xlsa the new kernel has updated binary hence you are facing that error. Flash a ics safe kernel using odin and then flash your rom.
i have faced the same problem but when i flashed the slim bean rom.it flashed without any error. give it a try it might also work for you

you wont be using LRT kernel to boot your rom with whether it is CM10 or JB. You will just be using it as a tool to wipe and flash from. its safe and more reliable than LSA kernel
In that case I have both PhilZ ICS Kernel and the HydraCore Kernel. Let me give it a shot and let you know.
