[Q] Kindle Fire HD 7Inch not finding ADB

Kindle fire not able to find Android debug bridge yet normal debugging tools work along with fastboot using a normal USB cable.

First of all u don't use adb commands in fastboot, you still need to restore the stock ROM ( you weren't able to do this right?) so unless you have the IMG backups of boot, system and restore I can't be of much further use because I haven't used kffirst aide, otherwise I do know how to restore the backups manually, and I believe someone also posted some stock backups for people that don't have any.

To clear up any confusion of step 2, it meant if ur device is accessible in adb mode and your not using a fast boot cable then u can run that command. Really think that should have been made clearer, because like I said u don't use ad commands in fastboot. That tool should restore your kindle to stock.

[Q] Kindle Fire HD Brick + Factory Cable = Now what???

I bricked my Kindle Fire HD. I now have a factory cable that brings it up to a Fastboot screen. But all it does it stay on that screen.
My ultimate goal was to put Jelly Bean on it, but I guess I wasn't smart enough to do that.
How does this cable work? And is my only option restoring it to factory settings?
What do I do? I have a hard time figuring out what directions to use because it seems like every website says something different.

The factory cable doesn't do anything but put the device in fastboot mode. You have to use fastboot to restore partition images saved from the 2nd bootloader instructions. Once your device is restored, you can start all over again.

Can you point me towards the best set of directions for this Fastboot? I plug it in and all it does it stay in the Fastboot startup screen.

That's exactly what it's supposed to do. It's just a bootmode that waits to accept a certain set of (fastboot) commands. The first thing you need to ask yourself is, do you have the partition images to restore in the first place?

I don't think I have a backup. I really didn't know what I was doing. My laptop recognizes the device as Tate-PVT-08. I have the Minimal ADB and Fastboot software, but that doesn't recognize it yet.

There's a system image restore script in the android development section, but you said HD and not if it was 7 or 8.9 inch. Pretty sure its a 7 inch since it says Tate, think 8.9 is jem, so here the link if its a 7 inch version. Oh and ignore the stuff on step 2 about running an adb command, that's only for if Ur kindle is actually able to boot up all the way.

My Kindle Fire only show Kindle HD in 6 seconds and turn off after that. I don't know how to fix it

You need a fastboot cable. Odd that it shuts off, I don't think its a sign of a bad bootloader atleast, maybe a bad kernel flash or something. My post above applies to you as well, get a fastboot cable and try that utility. Think it should do the trick. Keep in mind that link is for the 7 inch version of that utility, you didn't specify which kindle it is so if its a 8.9 then post another msg because u might not need a fastboot cable and you will need a link to the 8.9" version of that utility.

[Q] Stuck on Kindle Fire Bootloop

This is my 1st time asking for help since I really have never needed it. I got a kindle fire HD 7" and rooted it. I added TWRP and a 2nd bootloader. For a long time I was stuck in TWRP and every time I tried to reboot it would just go back to TWRP. This morning I tried using the Kindle fire utility and selected option one. It seemed like it worked. I then rebooted and now I am stuck on the Kindle Fire boot screen. It shows Kindle fire on the screen, goes black for a few seconds, then back to the kindle fire, then goes black again. It keeps doing this over and over again. I am not able to get back into TWRP now. I am not sure what to do at this point. I have read just about every thread out there and cannot find a similar situation to mine. Any guidence would be appreciated.

OK mistake number one, do not use kindle fire utility on a kfhd, you could easily hard brick the kindle. That was designed for first gen it's and they work a bit differently than yours. OK now that I got that out of the way, does your kindle still have the logo turn blue?

Thanks for the quick reponse. When I installed the 2nd bootloader and TWRP I got into the bootloop. At that time when it would bootloop it would go from orange to blue twice before going back to TWRP again. After I made the mistake of using the Kindle FIre utility it now just keeps on the kindle fire start-up screen and it is always orange.

You are either going to need a fastboot cable to fix or have some luck getting a command to work... If you open the device manager, and plug your kindle in while its off, does a Tate device show up for a few seconds? If so try updating the drivers on the Tate device to the ones in my signature. From there you should be able to use a fastboot command to get the kindle to boot into fastboot. The command would be "fastboot -i 0x1949 getvar product", but if your not seeing a Tate device then this command will be useless, and I don't wanna finish explaining how to use this command until I know your PC is detecting it, assuming you don't know how to use the fastboot command by itself from a command prompt since I don't know your skill level with android stuff and windows command prompt stuff.

Thanks again for replying. I would say my experience level is low when it comes to command prompts. I get the basics though. I will check when I get home if I see if a Tate device shows up when I connect with my usb and get back to you. Even when I was in TWRP I was having difficulty seeing my device on the computer to add a custom rom to the sd card. I tried sideloading and tried mounting the sd card but nothing worked. I wish now I would have just left it in TWRP and did some more research. Live and learn I guess. I will let you know what I find out. Thanks again.

Ok. I turned off the Kindle and then attached the USB to the computer. Nothing is being recognized. I see now too that my adb interface is also gone. It appears the computer is no longer picking up anything. When I attach the Kindle to the computer it starts the bootloop again flashing the kindle fire screen over and over again. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks again.

I think your only hope is a fast boot cable, and honestly or just depends how broke it is whether it works or not

Ok. I wanted to clarify what I did to get in the situation that I am in. I rooted my device with no issues. I then decided to install a 2nd bootloader and TWRP. After all was done my Kindle Fire HD 7" booted to TWRP. I could not get my computer to show my device so I was stuck. Every time I would reboot it would flash kindle fire in orange, then in Blue, then in Orange, the in Blue then would go back to TWRP. I then put the device with the USB attached to my computer and from TWRP I put the device into fastboot mode. I then used the KFHD SRT v1.3.5 tool and opened the SR.Tool.bat and chose option 1. After it was done I rebooted and now I am stuck on the Kindle fire screen (in orange) and it will show for a few seconds, turn off, then go back to the kindle fire screen again (in orange) and just keep repeating. I ordered a factory cable to try to get back to fastboot mode but since it did not work for me the 1st time I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for me. Thanks in advance.

Are you sure it is a factory/fastboot cable? I would either get them from skorn or proxenusa since I know they are reliable.

Hello again. I don't have the factory cable yet; I just ordered it yesterday. When I used the fastboot mode the last time I entered the mode from TWRP and was connected to my computer with a regular usb charger. When it was in fastboot mode I selected the option 1 from the tool I mentioned in my previous post. I am just wondering if the fastboot did not work with the KFHD tool I used because I did not have a factory cable connected hence why I am stuck on the Kindle fire screen. What do you think?

No, typically it is said to use a fastboot cable just to get the device into fastboot, then plug the normal cable in afterward.

For future reference, when you get your kindle back up and running again, you need to flash a custom ROM to boot. The TWRP boot loop stems from trying to boot into stock ROM, it won't work. So just put a ROM on your kindle before you flash bootloader + twrp next time.

Bootloop Between Blue and Yellow Kindle

I posted this late last night after spending hours troubleshooting so sorry for the lack of details.
I thought I followed the instructions to a t on this thread. The only step I skipped was backing up my data. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2128848
When my Kindle Fire HD booted, it would loop between the regular Kindle Fire logo and the Blue logo. Eventually it would then go to TWRP. Once in TWRP I tried numerous times to use the Boot Option, Restore Option, and Recovery option to no avail. When I selected Bootloader, I would get the fastboot logo and it would stall there. I had to hard reset to get it to start again. Every time I connected my Kindle to the fastboot cable and entered the ADB or fastboot commens, it would say waiting on device. I also tried using the Factory Restore tool below and that did not work.

When I connected the Kindle Fire HD to the PC, sometimes it would show as Android Device and other times it showed as PVT-8 or something to that effect.
Here is where I am now. The Kindle Fire HD no longer can boot to TWRP. It just looks the normal Kindle Fire logo and it loops indefinitely. My PC can no longer see the Kindle Fire HD at all. Is this a true brick or do I still have a chance?
BTW, I have multiple micro USB cables for all the devices I use. I am pretty sure the one I am using is the factory. How can I confirm this is a fastboot cable?

How did you get back to an orange only boot loop, it was easy to fix when it was blue... If it only is orange you are probably going to need a fastboot cable. Oh and to satisfy you with an answer as to why it boot looped, its because the newer amazon os detects the older boot loader or twrp, and refuses to boot, so you have to have a ROM ready to flash on the sdcard ahead of time.

Thanks. Anyway to confirm that the cable I have is a fastboot cable? Also, how would I go about performing a repair if it is.

If its a fastboot cable you would know it because you bought it for such occasions and because as soon as you plug it into the kindle it says fastboot in big letters. Once you have it in fastboot use kindle fire first aid and try a system reflash, I'm sure it would boot up without a doubt if you used an older version of the Amazon os, like I think 7.4.2 or older, but I don't know what version kffa uses, so if it still doesn't boot after doing that, try using the kindle fire system restore tool.

Are you trying to boot into Stock Amazon OS? That's your issue. Download a ROM and proper Google Apps package and either put them on your SD Card by mounting USB Storage in TWRP, or sideload flash a ROM, then you'll boot without issue. Don't forget to factory reset and wipe /system beforehand! I had this same issue my first time.

I have the fastboot cable now. It will go in to fastboot as soon as I connect it. I tried using the KFHD Recovery Tool but I am still stuck in a Kindle Fire loop. Any ideas what to do next? I chose option1 and 3 already from the tool.

Why option 1? That is a different version of the tablet. You want to run KFFA and select 'completely restore the KFHD 7 7.2.3' This should be #3 of KFFA.
So once you have the tablet in fastboot, just run KFFA and go from there. Some files will download and then KFFA will push them onto your tablet. After that, your tablet will be stock and you can root and remove OTA updates from there. Keep an eye on your computer screen as the script will tell you what's going on.

Thanks. Option 3 worked, I just needed to be patient and wait for it to boot. I am good now and running CM 10.2.

[Q] Kindle fire hd wont boot

So I rooted a kindle fire hd 7"? on 7.6.4 successfully then used fireflash.
I rebooted as instructed and held the volume up button to get to recovery.
it just sits at the fireflash logo now and when i try to boot regular it takes my to a "kindle Fire System Recovery" screen where I choose to reboot or reset the device.
I already tried the reset option with no luck.
How do i fix this.

You didn't flash twrp, run a "fastboot -i 0x1949 getvar product" on your PC, then plug the kindle in while its off. If it has 2nd boot loader on it and the fastboot drivers are working, your kindle should go into fastboot, from there you can restore with kffa and start over again. If the logo never turns blue you will need a fastboot cable.

I have no clue what that is.

Yea it is a command you have to run in a command prmopt, but you need a copy of the fastboot command though for you to be able to run that, you can pull a fastboot command out of one of the utilities on the forum like kindle fire first aid or system restore utility, or just download the android sdk for it.

I have android sdk on my pc right now.
would i navigate to the sdk folder like cd c:/program files/sdk/platformtools/ and then run the command?
Sorry for the newbie questions, this is my first kindle.
EDIT- I just ran it through there
command worked and says waiting for device but when i plugged the kindle in it did the usual orange logo to blue logo back to orange and then system recovery thing.

I'm guessing your fastboot drivers aren't installed, when it goes into fastboot your kindle will say fastboot on the screen in a small logo. Download the drivers in my signature and extract them somewhere. Open the device manager and plug your kindle in while its off, at some point if you see a tate-pvt device show up you will have to right click it and hit update drivers and point it to the ones you extracted from the zip file in my signature. If your on windows 8 you will have to disable windows driver signature enforcement first though... Once the drivers are installed the fastboot command should work on the next attempt.

So.
I am in KFFA and selected the Kindle Fire HD 7" then the 7.2.3 option.
I skipped putting it into fastboot through KFFA since it is already there.
Then it tells me there are 3 files ready to flash so I type y and it does it's thing and tells me this,

I type y and hit enter.
It does it's thing again and reboots the kindle, it goes orange, blue, orange shining, fast black screen, orange logo then to this screen.

So I just reboot and hold the volume button and it comes up with this fastboot logo.

In haven't used it myself, just run the runme.bat and look for a system restore option.

Sounds like kffa didn't download the images it needs to flash. I would try again and see if you can get it to.

I have tried 3 or 4 times now without success, I will try one more time from the beginning and see what happens.

Well I just tried with the system restore utility and now I think it is worse.
Now it just flashed the orange kindle logo.
No blue logo or nothin.
Would this be because i was not using the original cable?
I didn't think it mattered that much since it was already going into fastboot and all.
Plus i rooted and installed CM9 on a nook with the same cable without issues.

Well because that failed you will now need a fastboot cable to fix it...

You should have had a fastboot cord before using system restore utility in the first place. Often things go wrong.
