[Q] AOSP/CM Rom support for XZ - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm thinking of picking up a Xperia Z Ultra once its released, how has the development community and ROM support been with the OG Xperia Z? Have the CM 10.1 builds been mostly stable and responsive?

AOSP development has been really good, all features working and no bugs, I've used PAC, Carbon, Cyanogenmod 10.1/10.2, Cyanx, Superdroid, AOKP and i haven't faced a single problem.
My personal favourites are Pac and Carbon.
Running PAC nightly now and to my surprise no issues in the nightlies too.

Is CyanogenMod going to support Xperia SP?

Does anyone know if CyanogenMod is going to support this smartphone?
Any rumor?
They already support Xperia V and other similar devices.

Because Xperia SP is not Sony's flagship device, it will attract less developers as compared to maybe the Xperia Z.
But in time, there should be CyanogenMod built for this device.
AFAIK, FreeXperia has not even BOUGHT the device. After they buy it, it will take another couple of months (at most) to develop the software.
This is my opinion. Hey, it could he wrong (I hope)

What is the difference between unofficial FXP CM builds and official CM builds? Why do we need official CM if we have FXP?

In my experience with HP Touchpad, HTC Aria, HTC Desire HD, Xperia Go, Motorola Rarz: stable official CM builds are more stable and for daily use for somebody who one a customized and reliable ROM than an unofficial one. It doesn't mean the other developer cannot provide a good ROM.
CM is supported, but not yet enabled for nightlies, as devs are currently waiting for 4.3 kernel (supposedly) released soon by sony.. I guess the reason behind it is developing the current kernel (4.1) are considered pointless upon the oncoming 4.3.
There are unofficial builds, check the dev threads.

This is unofficial port from FXP
What is the best and the most stable version of CM up to date? CM 10, 10.1, 10.2 or 11? While waiting for official 4.3, I want to try and taste some stock Android ROM

For me, 10.1 seems the most stable - battery life is great, no performance issues, and the only thing not working is the FM radio (which is of no concern to me anyway). Plus, this zip here takes care of the offline charging bug.

Xperia Z1- MIUI???

Hey Guys i have been tracking the development of Xperia Z1 for the past 3 months and there doesn't seem to be any MIUI based ROM around here...Does Xperia Z1 has any official developer or still anyone didn't get involved in MIUI Rom development?? I am willing to know this becoz i love the MIUI Roms... So, is there any chance of Xperia Z1 getting a MIUI roms soon??
Thanks for your reply in Advance.
that im not sure
miui devs are being quiet and unofficial ports (from devs known of) are also being quiet
i dont think Z1 will get much miui based roms
Sent from my C6903 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I had a look at miui for the Z-Ultra, to port at the moment (v5) you really need a stable 10.1? cm build to port with, and for theZU there's not one. Things might change when there is a 4.4 miui base to port

If you actually want CM10 which was JellyBean 4.0, then the answer is no.
But there are weekly releases of Cyanogenmod 10.1, 10.2 and 11 (Android 4.2, 4.3 and 4.4 respectively) are available from the FreeXperia folks (this is the team that contributes Sony device updates to Cyanogenmod). The FXP3xx code is just means year 3, week XX. So this weeks is FXP311
Links to each of them are a their site: http://fxpblog.co/qualcomm-krait-200-family-2nd-gen/sony-xperia-sp/
I also would expect get.cm to start serving official nightlies for CM11 relatively soon. They have a website, but no builds yet: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_huashan
For now stick with CM10.2. CM11 is not real stable.
CM11
now CM11
yes..
there are several CyanogenMod available for Xperia SP..
CM 10.1, 10.2 , 11..
For CM 11 you have to unlock your bootloader but for 10.2 there is a method by which u can install this on locked bootloader...
check this .

I really love cm but. My phone sp can only take 4.1.2. That's why I want cm 10 (4.1.2). My screen is flickering every sec like a pulse with any of 4.2 4.3and 4.4 roms. I have tried many Roms and different kernels. And many cm versions. Only 4.1.2 works perfect

Actually he has a point. Our Xperia SP came with a pretty stable 4.1.2 Rom so wouldnt a cm10 Rom be the most stable?
Cm10.2 and above has battery and heating issues which aren't present on 4.1.2 stock.

I have had the same query. It is quite possible to port all these CM11 ROMs for LB too. PA and SlimROM work on KK on LB. Why should they not? If someone makes an effort, it can be achieved.
I also have LB, I have planned to try to port them somehow. But its my first time ever. Downloading the source for CM11 now. Possibly I might be able to. I don't know

Good luck !
If ever this is the version KitKat with CM 11 and PA 4.44 (latest version I believe) :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/development/rom-pac-4-4-4-beta-1-0-t2811990
Yes it's possible to port or compile all KK roms for LB.
But bringing a new port is useless if you don't improve and maintain it for a long time.
Compiling using available trees is very easy as 1 2 3.
Improving is the tough part.
By the way, I am planning to bring one more Rom beside paranoid android.
Choosing between resurrection remix and PAC

This choice is difficult...
PAC seems better now that i have seen some threads and devices.
RR is also good, but have to choose one. PAC gerrit and git looks more mature. Stay tuned for the thread.

Best ROM

Hi, i would like know what is the best ROM now for SP? AOKP CM Existenz ecc? A summary of ROM can be useful.
Sorry for english
Thanks
sir, u got death wish?
After many tries best for me is stock rom
I've used quite some roms and kernels. For now the best two would be pacrom and Crystal PA rom. They are stable, have some additional features compared to cm11 and they are fast. With williams kernel they work smooth.
If you are looking for stock based then in my opinion eXistanZ Ultra with Williams v7 would do.
Here's what I think about the different ROMs out there!
CM11 - Great support, lots of MODs, very stable. But tends to get laggy very soon.
AOSPA - Some great unique features, great Audio, better touch sensitivity ( All the @neXus PRIME ROMs have these features.
PAC - Loaded with all the goodness from all the ROMs, but had some random reboots but that might be my problem only!
OMNI - The ROM which is the most close to AOSP. Almost the pure android experience.
AICP - Loaded with features and honestly, overloaded. Gets very laggy, really soon.
AOKP - I'm not an AOKP lover, had random problems with AOKP.
Vanir - 4.4.2 version was absolutely brilliant. It was THE fastest and most responsive ROM out there. With 4.4.4 came lots of bugs.
CM 11s - A very nice ROM. Stable and good battery life upto an extent.
SlimKat - Extremely stable for me
Stock Based - They are really stable and provides improved functionality over the Stock FWs. But no KitKat love for them!
CM 12 - Alpha Stage and unstable obviously!
Out of all these I personally prefer the OMNI or SlimKat.
P.S : All these are my opinions and may NOT be how the ROM works out for others. I respect all the developers who worked behind them

No problems in using 4.4.2 but we don't want to stick with an earlier version when you have later ones, do we? Still it's a good option!:fingers-crossed:
