Hello community iv blown the top speaker on my one and was wondering if and how easy it is to replace. I'm unlocked bootloader so can't take it back to phones 4 u.
Many thanks
Dan
Unlocked bootloader doesn't cancel your warranty.
Article explains that your warranty is still valid, even when unlocked via HTCDev
http://android-revolution-hd.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/unlocking-bootloader-or-flashing-custom.html?m=1
My advice is to take your phone back.

are you COMPLETELY SURE its blown? i thought that some days ago, and did this
1.- disable NFC
2.- disable BEATS AUDIO
3.- restart the phone and magically the speaker sounds again
try

Hmmm, it's most likely a hardware issue. I wouldn't go through the trouble of returning it to stock, if the article mentioned above is right (which I have no doubt of).
htc one is difficult to dissasemble, youll likely crack the digitiser while doing so...
best chance is to go back to stock and relock the bootloader

Hi guys
A couple of weeks ago I noticed a light leak in the bottom right corner of my HTC One. I'm sure it's leaking from near the Home button key. It seems as if the adhesive has come of or something, because it didn't happen since the beginning. It's visible only when the capacitive keys light up and the background in dark. The leak sprays on the screen for almost an inch!
I'm wondering how serious is this problem? What should I do?
I've attached a couple of pictures, they're not the best ones but thats what I could do with an iPhone 4.

i've seen this on several devices, so i don't think a replacement will help..
it can also worsen in time, mine had minimum bleed now it is just too obvious at night. it's been more than 4 months now..

That is exactly what I'm worried about. It's its much worse than it looks..
Why didn't you replace the phone? Maybe you can disable the soft key light?

I decided it doesn't bother me that much and soft key light comes in handy especially at night ; I am only worried that the speaker moved a little bit away from the screen, curious how it'll perform in time..

For what it's worth, I came across an app - Soft Buttons Light that permanently enables or disables the soft key lights; It did the trick for me. The best part is, it doesn't require root.

This would be exactly the solution I'm looking for. Too bad it doesn't work with the latest version of the stock ROM anymore

Why dont you try skinned stock ROMs.. Such as Viper.. It gives the user an option to alter the light of the soft keys

Yeah, that's what I ended up doing. Just installed a rooted stock ROM and a different app (Capacitive Buttons) to disable my button lights. Works just fine now.
The reason I would've preferred an app that doesn't require root is that I enjoy receiving OTA updates, so initially I didn't want to root. But all is well now, so whatever

I was just about to post a new thread, but saw this one.
Anyway, I also have this light leakage issue. It's coming from the bottom right corner of the screen where the screen meets the speaker cover. Kinda difficult to describe, but the fact that I spotted it and am now aware of it bugs me.
I'm way past my 14 days, so the only option is probably to send it to HTC.

You can do that. Just make sure the replacement you get doesn't have any other major flaw like the camera purple tint

If your camera is fine, I would suggest that you don't send in your phone for repairs. You can either learn to live with it or disable them completely. Ending up with a bad camera or getting stuck in a repair circle is worse!

Screen bleed issues
Having read some of the comments and issues with the M7 HTC One, please make use of these suggestions, if you
have a problem like i have,
1. The bleed issues and severity of these issues is 'handset specific' BUT is know by HTC and most retailers in the UK
(Carphone Warehouse, Phones 4U and all the UK carriers, ie, EE shops, etc).
2. I had this issue & can be resolved (in some or all instances by flashing a halo, or light Rom) This however is not ideal
for several reasons and obviously is not a fix as it invalidates your warranty if rooted and returned to the manufacturer or
retailer.
TAKE ACTION.
1. Return your handset and ask for a replacement, yes, they nearly all have some problems but after 30 mins of sifting through
a dozen or so handsets i found one that was "slightly better" than my first handset but not ideal.
2. Buy a Samsung, Sony or any other device if this matter is not resolved at, point of sale...
It's not the best BUT you do have rights and a choice, great handset, but not for everyone !!!!

first of all, why would you bother opening 300$ watch that is still on warranty and try to fix it yourself?
i doubt you will find that flat cable available anywhere. i guess you could have try to put it together and try to apply for a replacement at samsung center...
Yup 1 year warranty

Awh man no good. I just looked around and saw nothing. You might have to call them and maybe send it in. I doubt the repair would be covered by the warranty now
Consider this a lesson learned. You might check ebay or craigslist for a used/trashed one to see if you can scrounge the band.
Sorry to read of your issue...
Can you tell me though, how you removed the band?
No worries just call sprint and tell them it was crushed while working. Simply scratch up the speeker and your done. Please dont say you opened it up for any reason.. almost forgot. Completly reassemble the watch. Your good trust me

So I went to plug the HTC earphones that come with the phone in to listen to some music, and the music played through the speakers instead. I tried pushing it a bit more, rotating it and bending the cable but nothing work. I know the earphones are working because I tested them on my laptop and they work fine. I also now that it is not a bug in the ROM is was using as I went back to the stock ROM and I still had the problem.

The problem is that the warranty is probably voided due to unlocking the bootloader.

Hello xda,
Tomorrow I have an appointment to buy a used htc one for 100 euros. I find it hard to believe but he is keen to sell it.
What can I check on the spot to know if it's the real deal or not? It is in used state. Everything works he sais, power button and volume button etc. Just some minor scuffs here and there. I reckon it would be a bargain for a phone like that.
If anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated!

Well then!
I bought the HTC one! Seems a legit one. Hboot 1.44 S on and locked. All intact.
Although it does have a big issue: The purple tint of doom on the camera. Also the headphone jack is cracked.
I'm wondering if this will be fixed within warranty as I bought it secondhand ? (The device still has 1 year of warranty left on it).

Hey all,
I recently (2 months ago) got a brand new HTC One. It's been great so far, love it.
Only issue I have is last week it started going to Speakerphone mode when making calls and receiving them. All I have to do is turn off the speakerphone to get it back to earpiece but it's slightly annoying.
I've tried resetting the device to no avail.
I'm running on the Rogers network in Canada running Kit Kat.
Any ideas would be great.
Thanks!

First time it happened I didn't notice and someone answered as I put the earpiece to my ear, nearly burst my bl00dy eardrum!

Having the same issue since about 1-1.5 weeks or so. Using ViperOne 5.5.1 with latest FW and Elemental X 13 kernel.

The weird thing is that i have been on 4.4.2 for a while now via ViperOne and this issue has just recently popped up (or so it seems to me). So not sure if this is related to sense based rom running 4.4.2. or something different.
Well I do feel slightly better that I'm not the only one. But also wished I wasn't part of this so special group. Ha!
After a little googling people seem to think it might have something wrong with the docking mechanism.

Mentioning the dock makes me wonder if those who've looked thru the call settings have looked thru the dock settings to see if there is an option there to open with speaker phone on? Or in the headphone or bluetooth settings. My feeling for looking in these places is that if for some reason the device thinks it's connected to one of these devices that could be changing it's behavior? Anyway, I don't think I'm having this issue but I rarely get calls and usually when I do I use speaker phone, but I'm also pretty sure that I'm having to turn it on also.
HTC replied to someone on Twitter to boot into recovery and clear cache who also had reported the problem...they showed instructions on how to get into stock recovery and do it. I'm wondering if anyone can try that. Either stock or custom recovery.

So i guess this is a general sense 4.4.2 issue then and not custom rom, kernel, other specific. Strange that it seems to only start after a random amount of time as i deffinately did not have this issue for quite some time after upgrading to 4.4.2 based rom.
