So this is what's happening. My headset jack lid is not staying closed. After a few seconds it opens itself. I think the paint on the inside got scratched or something cause there isn't any damage to the lid. This makes the phone quite not waterproof. Anybody experienced something similar or knows if this is included in the warranty or if I can fix it. I will post a picture of the lid asap. Thanks in advance.

I think the phone is waterproof you can use the warranty!!
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app
The phone is water resistant, not water proof. If that headset seal won't stay closed water WILL get into the xz and the warranty probably wouldn't cover it. Speak to the network you had the phone from or Sony service centre local to you about the port seal.
Check the little rubber seal inside on the flap, mine popped off a tiny amount, but enough to make the cover pop itself open.

i heard that puting phone in brass helps to remove water/moisture. give it a try.
Power it off and put it in a bag of rice. Wait a few days and power it back on.
There's a very slim chance that the short circuit damage down by the water isn't permanent.

Thanks guys i will give it a try
Sent from my LG-P970 using Tapatalk
Even better than rice a air tight box with dehumidifier box inside (the plastic boxes they sell in the hardware stores, the ones with the granules absorbing the moisture) . Put all bits out and leave it for day or two.
Do not dry with hair drier!! Or leave in the sun - might do more harm than good.

Thanks i will go to hardware shop and ask for those by the way i am using my phone and screen moisture is getting off day by day but camera and vibrators are not working so i am waiting for moisture to get off so if camera and vibrator works fine otherwise i can go to service centre and ask them for the warranty bcz if i go now they will say warranty is void bcz of water..
Sent from my LG-P970 using Tapatalk
Indeed waranty is void by water damage and there is always ways to find out if that's the case for a technician who is not half asleep.
Luckily though many times they only have a quick look and write the phone off and give you w new one as long as there are no visible damage on the outside.

Completely dry it first before powering it on or use it. Short circuit will destroy that phone.

I went to service centre guy was very kind he covered motherboard under warranty, but told me to pay for display bcz water cannot be cleaned from it, so he cannot cover it under warranty.
Sent from my LG-P970 using Tapatalk
Well it is something at least. How much did the display change cost if its not a secret?
That's the only reason I was considering the Motorola Defy.
Oh well at least our OB has nice display
Sent from my LG-P970 using XDA App
Well they are costing me 1700 rupees thats is something near 35.6$ for display.

The piece of plastic that covers the usb port has come off! I don't know what to-do? I still have it and was going to super glue it back on, but was wondering if I should use a different adhesive? I can upload a picture if it helps.

Today I dropped my phone for the first time
The so called aluminum frame was instantly damaged and to my surprise it was paint that chipped off.
Underneath there is just a hard kind of plastic.
I looked all over the place for a replacement frame but can't find any.
Anyone else with this problem?

First of all, greetings to everyone on this forum, this is my first post here.
I have a black Xperia SP (C5303), and have the same problem. Mine dropped on the street from my hand and although was in his leather casing, somehow dropped on the only side without protection. Was very suprised when I saw that 'alumium' frame was very damaged (damage looks like on your phone) from dropping only 1+ m of height inside of a protection case. The good news is that nothing else was damaged.
The phone is great for my needs, but I'm still not convinced with quality of aluminium frame. Probably this is the price of his weight. Before had Samsung Galaxy S Advance and dropped him accidently only once but without even a scratch.
I was very upset with the damage, but because of its black color it is not as visible as on your white model, so for now I won't be searching for a replacement frame... Hopefully won't be dropping him too much.
Greetings.
Yep it happens, even when I am charging, when the charger scratches the coat on the port, the paint will be chipped off.
Luckily I bought a black one, and the problem is not so bad and visible.

Quite a disappointment. My previous sony phones where solid as a rock.
It looks easy to remove though with the two screws. What you guys think

I think it only happens to white models, on a Spanish forum there is another user with the same problem (paint chipping off)
http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?t=668090
Now I regret choosing the white model, I have paint chipped off around the data cable port, stereo out, and also around power button :crying:
There are replacement frames on ebay for like 10$.

Same problem in my Spanish SP... Shouldn't this be solved by Sony? aluminium frame is not made of aluminum, isnĀ“t it?
I have also the same problem on my SP. is it normal?? Sony has to replace our frame with a better one.
I'm very disappointed with this ****ty paintjob, my hpone is barely 1 month old and it already got chipped paint on a several spots on the frame. I thought the frame was aluminium because every review I've read said so.... even if it wasn't aluminium, the paint shouldn't have come off so easily. i read sony used water-based paint, maybe that's why.
Hello everybody, i droped my xperia z1 and now two corners have a dent on the aluminium part. Is this easy to replace? Prices? Any help is apreciated. Thanks on advance
Sent from my C6903 using xda app-developers app
Probably you are the richest guy on XDA to think to replace the aluminum frame. Sorry for my answer, I try to be polite but your question is useless. Is not easy at all and probably nobody will do that, it will cost you more than a new phone. You have to keep the phone like that now. To be sure just go to the store when you brought the phone and ask them. The last chance, if you can't live with the aluminum frame scratched, sell it and buy a new one.

Yep that can be an issue, if some glue broke off or something, be careful

better send it to sony center for repair... frame dents normally compromises water proofing... repairing it your self will definitely compromise water proofing...

The phone is not waterproof, it is water resitant. It is not meant to purposely get wet. The speakers still get water in them but not in the phone. The purpose of the protection is to not get water inside the phone. Thats what the muffeled sound is. Once the speakers dry out, it will go back to normal. People misunderstand the purpose of the water protection. It is not made so you can take it in the shower and use it because if it was, it would be waterproof. It is made for accidents like if you accidently drop your phone in the toilet or in the dishwater then in that case the phone will not be ruined.
