Anyone else having an issue with headphones on their MotoX?
Music plays great on the phone from built in speaker, but when I put in headphones music stops and will not restart.
Thank y'all
Nope, mine works fine.

No issues here either. The quality coming out of the headphones is noticeably better than the N4 I had prior to this.
The only issue i've had so far is I have a tiny speaker that i plug into my phone at work to listen to spoitfy and because of the design of the phone, the jack wont go in far enough so it doesn't work kinda sucks
Also headphone volume seems really quiet
Also I cant believe I've been a member since 2009 and I still have to wait 5 minutes between posts.

Is the LG O4X audio quality & volume through headphones really that bad? I've read GSMarena's review as they've now posted the audio part of the review. They said it possibly one of the worst devices they've tested
This will be a deal breaker for me. :-( what do you guys think?
Any previous GSII ownes in here that can provide input on personal opinions between the quality of the two?

Audio quality seems fine to me. GSMArena suspected they had a faulty unit, and said they would try another but I have yet to see an update to the review to reflect this.
I did see that but thought what is the chance of them receiving a faulty unit. Im currently using a Galaxy S II, and the audio quality via music player suits me. I reappy want the 4X as its a sexy beast, just wouldn't be able to cope with crap music quality.

The sound quality is pretty good on the 4x. I upgraded after breaking my milestone and I was also iffy on buying the 4x because of the gsm review... when I tested it out, it sorta felt like my entire phone became a speaker but it instantly became muffled when I covered the grill. Black magic is at work here lol
Im on about through the headphones lol

Oudio output is fine for me too, though not as good as the One X, a little louder would not be a bad thing, but overall as good as other smartphones in the segment.
It is, once again, fine. Satisfactory. I don't like in-ear headsets so I just use the ones that came with my milestone 2 years ago >_> I did try the headphones that were in the box though, they unlock some eq presets along with an option to manually tweak the levels. But plugging in any headphones will unlock that.
...as good as the other six smartphones I use, honestly. I always check music quality through my $500 akg closed headphones with quite a range of high quality files and the 4x sounds really fine, absolutely no problem here.
Just bought 4X to replace my 3.5" iPhone 4S, everything is fine except the sound quality which I must say is terrible compared with iPhone especially when using the built in speaker Maybe it's because the speaker is at the back of the phone

What if you set the O4X on its front so that the speaker grill is facing upwards? Will it be not as terrible? Is it really that bad compared to iPhone 4S?

Only the sound is louder, quality won't improve no matter where you face the speaker. Apart from Moto's Raxx, iphone's sound quality is excelent (from my own experiece).
I downloaded Poweramp as recmmended by local forum here to my 4X and the sound quality improves a little bit.

ok the sound of the built-in speaker is poor, but with headphones, for me, the sound is great. I don't think it's very exciting listen music with the speacker ......
Use the right headphones (i got a HTC set) and download the POWERAMP app...
Gives what u need
hi guys, what about the call quality? is it loud n clear on speakers?
It's okay. I went through a few phone calls and I didn't experience any problems and have no complaints.
Although... has anyone else noticed that the voice for navigation is kinda quiet? I turned it up to max and drove a few suburbs over but I felt like it was a bit too gentle for a car environment.
Music over bluetooth, Motorola Motorokr s305 stereo headphone & headset works good. But dolby mobile setting stutters (to bad, cause I liked the sound). I now use the headphone amplifier setting. Also good, but not as loud as Dolby mobile.

Did anybody try the headphone out with high-end multidriver iems (Like Shure SE535, Phonak PF232 or Westone UM3x...)?
I'm an iPhone 4S user and the headphone out is almost perfect when listen thru my UM3x. Hence i was wondering if the 4X would be close in terms of noise floor, resolution and frequency response.
Thanks in advance

If the TF10 sounds good and you have your treble then output impedance of the LG must be quite low which is a great thing.
Could you fill me in about the noise floor (Noise that you can hear when you pause the music till the amp section shuts off).
Thanks a lot
Audio quality problem
I sometimes hear below average audio quality and I have to re-insert my head phone to get normal audio. Do any body facing this problem
I got my HTC One today, and something I noticed is that 2 seconds after volume comes out of the speakers it's followed by a popping sound which sounds like the speakers are turning off. It's extremely annoying, and sometimes I hear a popping/clicking from the speaker when I'm not even playing sound.
Are you experiencing this, or is my unit defected? It's EXTREMELY annoying, considering the speakers are facing you, and you can't ignore it as if the sound was coming from the back of the phone.
Please let me know.

I just received my second HTC One today and it has this problem (as did the first), I also get popping sounds while watching videos on youtube.
It also has the same loud hissing coming from the speakers when watching videos on youtube / playing games as my first phone. Considering audio is one of the main features of this phone it's quite disappointing.
I could probably live with the hissing / audio glitches if I didn't have dead pixels as well, oh well, time to get the Galaxy S4 I think.

Had 4 handsets all with this issue. All very different batch numbers. Could be a software issue but equally it might be a hardware issue, which isn't worth risking, especially when I can just get an s4 instead.

Have you tried disabling Beats Audio?
I've noticed a weird cut in / out when it first detects audio and engages Beats.
Probably unrelated...
It's part of the problem, beats makes the issue twice as bad, but it's still present without it.

It Software not hardware related. This used to happen with the One X when it first released, I think it was fixed though. Try closing all applications and running just YouTube, it normally makes the problem better. Also, if your on the Music app it won't always do it.
I have exactly the same problem
Is every handset having this problem? One of the main selling points of this device is the premium audio quality, right?
I'm having the same issue... Everytime I press the sleep button I hear a pop just a few sec later... Hope it'll be fix with the next software update... It's not a big deal, but now that I noticed that, it bother me everytime I hear it!
I disabled touch sounds, etc in sounds along with beats, and it is much better now

I think it maybe the EQ that the software uses. I remember when I had an AT&T One X someone made an audio mod for it that changed a lot of stuff and one of the versions had this problem but the others didn't so I don't think its a hardware issue.
Hello everyone.
Curious if anyone else has had this issue. I recently bought a decent pair of headphones, Sony MDR7506. I have had zero issues with the cheap in ear stuff and using my aux cord in my car. Even my bluetooth streaming to my htc a200 works great. However with these headphones I get a small amount of random crackle here and there. I initially chalked it up to a bad pair of headphones but for the heck of it I tried them on my PC , Ipad 3, and nexus 7 and they sound absolutely amazing on each of those devices. I tried it on my wife's htc one as well and the same thing. The odd thing was I had crackle in the left ear on her phone and on the right ear on mine.
I'm not exactly sure whats up at this point. Judging by searching it doesn't seem like anyone really has had this issue or at least haven't documented it.
Not that it probably matters but I am on Viper 2.1.0 and the wife is on viper 1.2.1. Anyone have any idea?
Thanks
Hello,
I picked up my att note 3 on Friday. I believe I have a defective loudspeaker. When at max or near max volume when talking on speaker phone the audio is distorted/resonant similar to a buzzing. I tried removing the back cover which had no affect.
Being as others have modified the android OS to increase volume with success it seems likely to be a defective phone.
Please let me know if any one else hears poor speaker phone audio quality.
I will likely try to swap my phone out for a new one at att.

Maybe yours is normal. As when I listen to folks on speakerphoneI can hardly hear them compared to my S4 and its quiet perhaps they reduced it on my build for this very reason ( cheap speaker ).
I originally thought something was wrong with my device because i kept hearing the audio drop down and raise again when listening to music. But I noticed it never did that with anything else besides the app, Spotify. I decided to try another music app and I cannot replicate the issue. I think it's the Spotify app. Maybe a compatiblity issue with 4.3, not sure. Either way sounds comes out normal except in that app.

Hello Everyone,
I exchanged my phone this past Friday. The new phone may be slightly better than my previous one but it still distorts at full volume when on speakerphone.

Ran some more tests on both my wife's and my unit. If you listen carefully on full volume you can occasionally hear it clip

Mine is pretty bad. I have a hard time hearing people on speakerphone unless it is all the way up, then it is pretty distorted.
So I am a music fanatic. I am almost always listening to Spotify when I'm driving, walking, taking the train, doing homework, etc. I love music and Spotify.
Before the Nexus 6 I had an iPhone 5 and the volume was great. It could get as loud as I needed it to, even on the CTA it could get loud enough to completely drown the sound of the train. But, with the Nexus 6 that volume seems significantly lower. I'm not sure if this is a Spotify issue or if it's a Nexus issue.
I've searched around and can't seem to find a solution or others who have this issue. Even when playing through the headphone Jack in the car it is significantly lower than, say, the radio volume. Has anyone else experienced this on the phone? Any suggestions on how to fix this issue?
Thanks in advance for any help!

I do notice this and its making me want to go back to the iPhone. The audio quality is amazing on headphones and audio jack to my car. This is bad.
Works great for me, though I use viper as posted above
Edited: Forgot to add I already tried the viper thing but still not loud enough compared to previous phone.
This is still way too low compared to my previous phone with my Solo2s.
Any Roms that handle audio better? Kind of a disappointment at this point dropping $750 on a phone.
