OK, so I acquired a Razr i - not known from which network etc. I am not exactly sure what I have got, It has been rooted (comes up with big warning).
The SMS doesn't work. Built in messaging stops. Various other SMS apps (SMS Pro, Handcent) read messages but will none of them send.
I have tried factory reset. Also downloaded ADB and tried to wipe the cache using that (couldn't get the power/volume down option to work).
I have installed Titanium Pro and noticed that the messaging app is at 4.2.2 whereas everything else is at 4.1.2 - maybe that doesn't help??
So, how can I reset the phone to a known state and get things working?

I'm relatively new to the whole android thing so I won't be of much help, but you could try flashing to stock firmware through rsdlite. Maybe that would fix things?

Check this out. I use shaftenberg's msg (3rd option) and it works fine, you just need to install the apk from the post and then delete the old one (or you could let it there, your call)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=43489153&postcount=1938
You can use Shaftenberg's MMS.apk or if you want original ROM use RSDLite and this version of ROM
Branding: Retail Germany/EU
Version: 9.8.2I-50_SMI-26 FULL
Android Version: 4.1.2
Bootloader Version: N/A
Requires RSD Lite 6.0
DOWNLOAD
from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2239706
in accordance to kernel it seems you have installed Omar's ROM.
Thanks for replies. No difference with Shaftenberg MMS - though it wasn't totally clear how best to install.
I tried "adb install -r mms.apk" and got "Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_INVALID_APK]"
Then tried:
adb remount
adb push Mms.apk /system/app
adb reboot
That seemed to put it in, but messaging still doesn't work.
Will try the original ROM you suggest.

Robert

The name of apk should be SMS.apk probably. You have to look by using ES file explorer or root explorer what name of apk you have. In /system/app there are usually mms.apk and mmsdependencies.apk for the SMS in Omar's ROM.

No, "Mms.apk" is correct, he is on Omars ROM and wants to replace the file

Did you delete MmsDependencies.apk after installing shaftenbergs Mms.apk? If not, try that.

To enter fastboot these steps are required: Power down, then hold down Vol- and press the power button until the device vibrates twice. Directly after the vibration, release power button and keep Vol- pressed until booted into fastboot mode.
From fastboot mode you can get into recovery using Vol- to navigate through options and Vol+ to enter. You're on a custom ROM at the moment, so there will also be a custom recovery already installed (most likely CWM, or maybe TWRP). From there you can insall zip files, wipe dalvik/cache, do a factory reset and more.
And for ROMs I only know the stock ROM and Omars mod. I definitely prefer Omars mod. Since you are on that at the moment, updating it to the newest version would be easy and maybe solving all your problems.
This is the original thread where you can grab the newest build and an overview: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2174731
I'm using the same ROM with no problems but one, Mms.apk freezes all the time. But that problem is easily resolved by installing shaftenbergs unlimited sms/mms afterwards via fastboot (MessagingNoLimit_BLACK.zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2212235)
Just one tip if you want to install a new version of Omars mod: Wipe all data and do a factory reset in recovery mode before updating, so you do a clean installation.
Hopefully I could help you a bit.

Thanks. I got there in the end. It was initially unclear to me how to update Omar's modded ROM - hadn't initially realised that you can install the .zip without unzipping.
For posterity, my steps were:
adb push RazRi_JB_X-2013-Sep-02.zip /sdcard/Download
adb reboot recovery
Now in CWM, select the .zip file from above directory. Minor hassle as I accidentally went into "install from sideload" option - but pressing and holding power+vol down eventually reset that.
Having selected the above .zip it all installed happily.
Then I rebooted.
Then I repeated the procedure with the Shaftenberg messaging you referenced - and used CWM to install it from .zip again. This seems to be a better bet than going through manual pushes of the files (from unzipped location).
Thanks for all the help. There is so much information available, lots of a it a little bit partial or making assumptions as to knowledge level of reader! Not easy to find things at exactly the right level.
Onwards and upwards! Now to sync all my old Outlook contacts....
So... what did you do to get SMS to work? Cause i'm having that same exact problem right now.

Hi,
I just wanted to update manually to Gingerbread.
But I am truly confused with all the version jibber jabber...
My Android version is 2.2.1, Build Number FRG83D and Kernel is 2.6.32.9-g6624e39 [email protected] #1.
My phone is from german Vodafone Company. Maybe it is because of the language? But I do not care about it, use only English anyhow.
Can I update?
Obviously I can not with the just released file, cause I get a "cannot verify".
Or do I have to wait for another file and why?
Thanks!
Do you have Vodafone or Stock Google Android installed? This update works not on the vodafone version.....
You're not even on the latest version of Froyo, of course you won't be able to use the Gingerbread update.
Update to FRG83G with the last link in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11618364&postcount=947
Direct link to FRG83G (from D) http://android.clients.google.com/p...igned-passion-FRG83G-from-FRG83D.2854b06b.zip
How do I switch to the lates stock version that I can update Gingerbread to?
I thought I updated manually to the latest version before...
I really hate this part of Android
edit: oh thanks to the above, guess I'll try that

it seems to me that you are not on the stock android ROM, but you are on a special vodaphone version of the ROM. if this is true, i highly suggest that you get rid of that ROM. that means you should root your phone, gain superuser acces, and install ROM manager.
ROM manager will now let you easily flash a variety of ROMs, just like an official OTA update, and including the stock ROM. so from ROM manager you could switch to stock if you wish, which would let you upgrade to gingerbread. or you can switch to cyanogen, or any other ROM you see in the list.
by far its the best thing to do.
Okay this are the steps I figured so far, if I follow them will I be able to update to Gingerbread?
Any step I forgot?
- Root with this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=959672 (yeah I'm on ubuntu)
- then I "download the FRG83 system image from http://developer.htc.com and use fastboot to flash over the system and boot images"
- then I run the update the Gingerbread update

That is what I had to do to get mine working...
So you may help me out cause i'm stuck again.
I have rooted via SuperOneClick now, cause the linux one did not work, blame it on eclipse...anyway.
I installed RomManager as suggested above, but there is no FRG83 to choose from.
So i downloaded the FRG83 from HTC and choose that with RomManager. But it does not install, just backups then reboots and nothing changed.
I also tried to do it manually but if i go to fastboot i can not do anything.
There are only Bootloader, Reboot, Reboot Bootloader and Power Down.
I named the downloaded zip (http://dl4.htc.com/RomCode/Source_and_Binaries/signed-passion-img-FRG83_0923.zip), root.zip and placed it in the root of the sd-card.
What am i missing?

I downgraded to stock from my laptop.
You go into fastboot on the device and then on your computer run commands like:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
and
Code:
fastboot flash system system.img
.
Fastboot in this case is used to restore the stock images from your computer to the device.
You then need to re-apply all the updates.
Just flash the full stock Gingerbread ROM from the dev section. Easy peasy.

Hi all,
I have exactly the same problem as DarsVaeda, and also the same specs:
Nexus One (Vodafone NL)
Android version 2.2.1
Build Number FRG83D
Kernel version 2.6.32.9-g6624e39 [email protected] #1
HBOOT-0.35.0017
RADIO 5.12.00.08
I've been trying to find a solution for the problem but trying to update to FRG83G gives me the same error message:
Finding update package…
Opening update package…
Verifying update package…
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
installation aborted
if someone has a solution, please post it here
I believe Vodafone tweak their ROMs, so you can't install the update. You will need to revert your phone to complete stock, or root and flash files through a custom recovery, our unlock the bootloader and fastboot flash...
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Yep he's right.
I am on gingerbread now.
I rooted with super one click.
Then installed rom manager.
Flash a custom recovery (ie. at the bottom).
Downloaded stock FRG83G from HTC.
Booted into the recovery and installed the rom.
Afterwards I could update to gingerbread.
No downsides yet.
You can also flash the stock gingerbread rom now. Saves you one step.
It's linked here in the forum.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
So there is no way around it? if I want Gingerbread on my Nexus I have to root it or wait for Vodafone.
I'm unsure about rooting, never done it before and I'm a noob in this field, but I really, really want the update
If you don't mind, DarsVaeda, and in the light of your success with that method, could you maybe post an even more detailed step by step instructions of how you did it?
Sure.
First of all I lost all data that was not saved remotely. Like SMS or application data from applications that do not remotely store data. Keep that in mind! But it's worth it.
I backup SMS to my google account anyway and delete them after some time from my phone, so I was fine with that.
As far as I know now you do not void your warranty if you root with "SuperOneClick". The root will also be gone after you flashed the rom. On my phone there is only a program called "superuser" left, but it's not usable since the phone is not rooted anymore.
Step by step:
before get all of this:
- get and install the USB Android drivers on your WindowsOS explained here (and download): http://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html
- install "RomManager" from the market on your phone
- get "SuperOneClick" here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
- get the Gingerbread Stock ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=968396
- rename the stock rom to "root.zip" and place it on the SD-Card, top level
1. on your phone goto Settings -> Applications -> Development -> check "USB debugging"
2. connect phone with USB to your Windows machine (drivers above should be installed and Windows should recognize the phone)
3. fire up SuperOneClick and click "root", wait until it tells you it wants to run a test
3a. if it fails to root the first time, just hit root again (I had to do it, after second try it worked)
4. restart the phone after it is rooted
5. back in Android start RomManager
6. in RomManager flash a custom recovery, I took the one at the bottom (something with alternative recovery, second last entry)
6a. it might want you to install additional software, allow it
6b. it will ask you for rights, allow them
7. after the flash is finished boot into the recovery (second entry from top of rommanager)
8. in the custom recovery navigate to the point where you can apply an update with a zip file (in the one i took it was the second entry I guess)
9. after you choose the entry you can choose the zip, choose the "root.zip" and apply
10. now the installation should start with verifying and then actually applying the rom
11. restart the phone
11a. if you are now stuck in the start animation (the one with that floating x-thing) and it does not go on you have to reset all you data (factory reset)
11b. power off the phone and start it with pressing the power button and volume down
11c. a screen appears, navigate to "recovery" and hit the power button (you have to wait till it loads something, then you can press that)
11d. in the new screen there should be an option called factory reset, if not it is like "wipe all data" -> that's when you loose all your data (I had to do it)
11e. reboot the phone
12. Gingerbread should boot now
Feel free to ask any questions if you have. Hopefully I can help.
I did not use the stock rom directly, guess that saves you one step.
If it does not work, but I guess so you have to do the same as above but install this rom first:
http://dl4.htc.com/RomCode/Source_and_Binaries/signed-passion-img-FRG83_0923.zip
After you installed it boot the phone and check if the version is correct: Settings -> about phone.
If so get the Gingerbread update (http://android.clients.google.com/p...signed-passion-GRI40-from-FRG83G.81304b2d.zip) and place it on the SD-card as "update.zip".
Boot to the recovery, same steps as the factory reset. There will be an option "apply update.zip". Use that and after it you will also have Gingerbread.
Wow! thank you so much for the step by step guide, I really appreciate it now I feel more confident to attempt the feat of updating.
You don't need to root to update.
Follow the wiki guide to unroot/restore using the passimg method for FRG33, then install the updates to FRG83, 83D, 83G, then finally Gingerbread...
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Please read this post in its entirety before downloading and flashing.
THIS IS FOR I9020T ONLY! IF YOU DECIDE TO GET BRAVE AND TRY THIS ON AN I9020A, I9023 OR D720, MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED TO ANY PHONE BY USING THIS ROM.
YOU MUST FLASH THIS ROM USING CLOCKWORKMOD RECOVERY. THIS WILL NOT FLASH USING THE STOCK ANDROID 3E RECOVERY AS THE ZIP FILE IS NOT SIGNED. I HAVE NOT TESTED IT ON OTHER RECOVERIES.
This is probably more for posterity now than anything else, however I have created a CWM-flashable full on ROM for the Nexus S Gingerbread firmware, version 2.3.2, build GRH78C. This is built exactly the same way that the full OTA ROM packages for 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 were built.
Some notes:
1. Flashing this ZIP will remove ClockworkMod Recovery on first boot. Android 2.3.2 contains a script that automatically overwrites alternate recoveries with the stock Android 3e recovery each time you reboot your phone. The script is located in /system/etc/install-recovery.sh. If you root the ROM, you can rename this file to avoid flashing the stock recovery on each reboot.
2. Flashing this ZIP will overwrite your bootloader and radio, restoring them to I9020XXJK1 and I9020XXJK8 respectively. These are the versions that came stock with GRH78C.
3. GRH78C is receiving OTA updates. As of this writing, the latest version of Android is 2.3.4, and Google is pushing an OTA update for 2.3.2 to 2.3.4.
4. This ZIP will NOT clear your user data or cache. For users running a stock ROM, I would highly suggest clearing your data and cache manually as sometimes downgrading without clearing data and cache can cause problems. If you are coming from a non-stock ROM, you are required to clear your data and cache or the ROM will not boot.
5. Since writing NFC tags wasn't introduced until GRI40/2.3.3, the Tags app is read-only.
6. There is no video chatting through Google Talk. This feature was not introduced until GRJ22/2.3.4.
Instructions:
1. Download the Stock GRH78C ROM package here.
2. Copy it to the root of your USB storage.
3. Reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery (or flash it).
4. Select "Install ZIP From SD Card"
5. Select "Choose ZIP"
6. Find the ZIP file and select it.
7. Wait for it to finish.
8. Wipe data and cache (optional but HIGHLY recommended for stock ROM users and REQUIRED for non-stock ROM users)
9. Reboot and have fun.
Reserved...just in case.
Thank You will post results if needed,i doubt it,again thank you very much,ping33tx

I can only try to restore by odin

Wanted to flash this ROM, just wanted you to confirm that yours is an i9020A, not i9020T, therefore that's the reason why it won't turn on now.
Sorry for your phone by the way.
that could be the reason, i got this phone for very cheap and it was soft bricked so i had no idea if it was 9020a or 9020t (no box with it)
if this is the case, what can i do, USB jig or jtag?
Can you boot it to bootloader?
From off position, try Vol UP + Power.
If you can see the Android logo and 4 menu options, you got yourself a great deal.

He doesn't need to. If he can get to the bootloader, he can flash and boot a recovery via fastboot.
No guys, seems i got myself in a mess. It is indeed a i9020a (the info under battery was erased so i didnt know0 and i flashed the i9020t rom in this thread (different radios)
so this thing is HARD bricked, screen won't turn on, no bootloader, nothing, tried to get it into download mode (even without screen turning on) assuming it was working, but odin doesn't realize its there
so i think my only solution is jtag. I can buy a usb jig but I think that usb jigs dont do anything for hard bricked phones, am i right
Much thanks for your help.
Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a P970 through the Koodo network. I used smartflash, rom converter 2.0, etc. to root the phone.
I booted my phone, superuser was installed. Everything works well, however, if I go to Google Play store to install any app, the phone freezes and I have to take the battery out to get it started again or the phone will just reboot as soon as it tries to install it. I tried downloading the apk and uploading it to the phone and installing it with superuser but it does the same thing.
I reinstalled everything twice now and it still does the same thing. I've read around the website but can't find any answer. Can anyone help please?
Try to flash another rom.
The phone came with V20j. There's a Telus rom that's V20i. It's ok to try that one?

I meen that you can try to flash a custom rom like zeus.
I can't download rom manager or anything like that without it rebooting.
I followed these instructions found on this site:
1. Get original Koodo firmware
2. Extract BIN/FLS with LGExtract.exe
3. Patch in CWM image with Linux DD (I used p970 rom converter 2.0 to do the extract and CWM image)
4. Flash with SmartFlashTool
The only apps that came with the superuser was anreboot and es file explorer
Can I just flash a rom like zeus with the rom conerter 2.0?
You have CWM,right? If not, try cwm flasher by redy in Development sector
When the phone is restarting at LG logo, press Volume Down to Recovery.
If u not have e/g-recovery, power off and try to press Power button and Volume down in the same time
And u can wipe all data or flash any custom rom
Already U know about CWM and injecting root
So, just download Gingerbread V20S Rooted .bin and .fls files from google
And flash with Smart Flash tool
Or else, U can try Zeus (excellent ROM) with (if u have to install Zeus, U should have some ROM installed with root and ROM manager)
If now ur phone has root option, just install ROM manager (download separately ROM manager and install)
Even if yours is not rooted, basic features of ROM manager will work for Reboot into Recovery, so that you can flash the zip file of Zeus ROM (try to install latest is 6.39n and its update file)
If unable to install just Factory Reset, even that is not working..
Try to open the settings of Play Google and clear all the cache or history u can find and restart the phone..
Try the Zeus ROM, amazing ROM and No. 1 now..
Press THANKS if I helped you
Hi there,
darrenp76, I too had just rooted my own LG P970 (my carrier is also Koodo). I used a different method to root my phone, but the result was a success.
I found myself in the same situation as you; every time I tried to download an app, the download would complete but then the phone would hang on when the installation portion began. The phone would power off, and boot back up.
I have solved this issue by doing the following:
1) Go to Settings
2) Go to Privacy
3) Select "Factor data reset"
4) Reset phone. I did NOT check off "Erase SD card"
My phone restarted, I saw the ClockWorkMod screen, then my phone continued to restart normally.
I was then prompted with LG's little tutorial, and I entered my gmail information when prompted.
I was then able to access the Market - which updated to the Play store. I was able to keep Superuser on my phone, but I lost the 2 applications that were automatically installed when I rooted my phone (one was a file browser and the other was some sort of restart.) I did not have these programs installed for very long because I reset my phone shortly after rooting, and so I wasn't able to familiarize myself with those 2 apps, and I don't remember the names of them.
Anyways, I really hope that this helps you. Having been through the situation myself, I was very worried, but the factory reset seems to have fixed this issue.
[MODv7]Stock-Restore-CWMR&BOOTLOGO+SU-FLASH.VRZXT907_9.8.1Q-78 & 94 [Locked BL's Too]
Update: Change out the twrp for the newer ones here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49493136&postcount=2
Added a PasteTo for 4.0.4 as several things need to be cut to get the script to work, Unlocked Boot only as are all PasteTOs.
PasteTO...94 Is updated to philz6079.
Substitute the ...94 for the ...78 in the following guide.
We have SafeRoot now.
But locked boots on ...94 CANNOT USE THIS GUIDE if you want to maintain root. Root is only maintained via VooDoo & the ota. If you break your radio on ...94 & have a locked boot you are forced to loose root to fix your radio.
Full 9.8.1Q-94xml version in attached.
New xml "guts" or stripped version for unlocked boots only 98.30.1. Paste & overwrite to the unzipped 9.8.1Q-94xml folder. Get the latest xml here. Mega is very fast now. Choose the ...mod7 xml from RSD lite.
That is for unlocked boots only. There is no root for 98.30.1 w/o a boot unlock. GO HERE for more locked news.
Why is a RSD restore needed? We have twrp & cwmr for custom rom users can't they just restore back to where they started, either stock or their first rom?
NO!
Our custom recoveries do not restore all the partitions. The most important one not restored is modem/radio.
Can I flash the newest radio to fix things?
Not always. The only sure way to the best call, 4g, 3g & wifi performance is, once something goes wrong, a RSD restore to the newest build.
This thread is "tough to read but worth the effort" The dramatic Smilies are used to show contrast in the 2 paths.
Not a comment on anyone's mental state. Then again if you develop empathy for my two characters it may be easier to follow the steps for you
Features for Locked users:

*Preloads CWMR Rcovery in place of stock recovery which allows you to flash UPDATE.SU from your SD to root before you boot.
*Has TWRP & CWMR Flash-able recoveries for your SD.
*Replaces bootloader warning with normal "M" logo.
*You can update to the: Avstralia Deodex Mod by ZaYAC for XT907 & take your data with you. Here is an alternate version of how to update this.
:crying:This is an easy way to do a (return stock to fix things that may have gone awry) restore to 9.8.1Q-78-1. Note: The system version shown in about phone depends on the source of your current system. 9.8.1Q-78-1 is the RSD XML source. 98.18.78 if OTA was taken.
DO NOT USE MATT'S UTIL. IF ON ...78
:crying:This is what you need if 4g or wifi is not holding-many things will break your radio. I am sure this is one of the biggest headaches passed on to vzw support by rooted users.
:crying: Obligatory warning: THIS WILL PREVENT A BOOTLOADER UNLOCK IF YOU FLASH IT TO A LOCKED PHONE. This present version of the official xml, including my mods, WILL NOT RELOCK ANY UNLOCK.
:crying:Not unlocked? Or need SafeStrap See Attachments.
Before starting backup your current rom with
CWMR or TWRP. You can swap them as needed from within the other.
OR
:crying: SafeStrap-TWRP .
:crying:All you need is RSDlite v615
If you have a mac use Parallels Desktop Win 7.
Here is a good tutorial how to get into fastboot and use Rsd:
(fxz = xml BTW)
BE SURE TO DATA WIPE FROM YOUR RECOVERY BEFORE DROPPING TO BOOTLOADER/FASTBOOT.
BE SURE TO DATA WIPE FROM YOUR RECOVERY BEFORE DROPPING TO BOOTLOADER/FASTBOOT.
There are two versions to download: (registration needed) [full 9.8.1Q-94...MODv7... see attachments]
Full version 6, 600+ MB
Md5 : 1e7c2f72d5e58ba96ee75c0f4cafc527
DL count 250+
Ready to flash w/ rsd.
OR (Option to avoid registration)
Stripped: [pasteTO...9.8.1Q-94...MODv7 see attachments] just what you need to paste into your existing 9.8.1Q-78-1.xml folder.
Stripped Update: V6
Md5 : a4da5f748314bd3e44c84db0088b9ad3
DL count 240+
To make your own full ver:
:crying:Download and unzip THE STOCK XML [...78 OR ...94]
Paste the 3 files from (Stripped update above & unzipped) the folder "paste to existing xml file"
1) logo.bin,
2) recovery.img &
3) VRZ_MODv#_XT907_9.8.1Q-78-1_1FF.xml ( overwrite each one). Now you have a full version.
:crying:Open rsd and with your phone being recognized choose the (...) to select the
VRZ_modv#_XT907_9.8.1Q-78-1_1FF.xml Goto next
:crying:VRZ_XT907_9.8.1Q-78-1_1FF.xml
file which controls the restore.
:crying:Rsd will reboot the phone & You goto to obtain root.
Installation of SafeStrap is 2 steps. Install the apk then install the recovery from the apk. Now jump to the next :crying:.
Just watch the RSD working status and hold the volume up when it boots or just hold the up key til it boots. Don't push both!
I have a big hair clip that keeps the Vol+ on!
So you should be in cwmr now, if not, press & hold all 3 keys til blackout then let off pwr then the bootloader. Scroll is vol-. Select is vol+. Select recovery.
Flash the updateSU included in both versions.
[for ...94 Philz will check for root on exit, choose re-root]
Choose yes on reboot to protect recovery each time you boot the stock rom.
Once on a custom rom -no. The Deodexed is custom.
NOTE: To get 4G, wifi and phone working properly you must boot up to add partitions/prepare/activate the system (no need for google login). Say no to everything google. Do a test call. Browse the internet. Do something that needs root!
Only then can you go to recovery and restore your previous non stock rom the normal way.
Custom rom users, beta testers & etc: Get off here.
***unsolicited brash commentary***
If you think 4.2 + roms are are where you want to be. We are nothing but beta tester. If the Dev does not give a change log/list of working features & then ASKED YOU TO TELL HIM WHAT DOES NOT WORK....
A 2nd opinion
So pick your fav & stay with it! Go Miui!
***...***
:crying:The following step may be skipped.
RESTORE STEP 1:
Here is a deodexed & debloated ver to flash when you are back in recovery after the first boot.
Mount System. Install the following rom. More on this Rom.
Much Thanks to Moparman371 for the Clean Rom.
GOTO RESTORE STEP 3 to finish this step. OR add the next step.
The following steps may be skipped.
DO: RESTORE STEP 1 and a reboot.
RESTORE STEP 2:
Now run a Newer Kernel and have your external SD card as your default storage.
Avstralia Deodex Mod by ZaYAC for XT907. You can read the Op here
From TWRP (swap recovery out- that is why I gave you both!)
Restore the Op's system & boot.
I do the rar extraction on my M w/ RootExplorer & use the move command to put it where your other BUs reside.
I tried it on my Mac & got errors. PC can give errors too. Use on phone extraction!
Flash the Op's options: english dialer fix
Flash the 1% battery fix
Perform: RESTORE STEP 3 (which doubles as your activation)
Reboot ( Update v2.6 has not messed w/ the install-recovery.sh. Older TWRP's may mess with install-recovery.sh and kill the SD swap)
If you boot from CWMR while on this Avsitralia MOD you MUST always choose any NO to protect the install-recovery.sh file now used by the OP for non-recovery purposes.
Rule of CWMR reboot recovery protection:
Protect recovery on reboot when on our official Vzw Rom: Answer YES
All other times: NO.
DO NOT try activate this system with Google login as you would a normal Rom.
It must be activated via the previous data you saved before this restore:
Vzw users: You will never be able to do a privacy > factory data reset OR a recovery data wipe on this rom. Doing so & then rebooting will bork your radio partition OR result is 3g only, but this thread is the fix if you do.
Also stock messaging in not compatible with vzw- use Handsent!
:crying:RESTORE STEP 3:
For those that just want their data back onto stock rom YOU CAN abvanced restore only the data partition you saved prior to the data wipe. Be sure to wipe cache & delvik (advanced menu) before rebooting .
But why the round about way? Why wipe the data before the Rsd flash? Because wifi can break if a flash is done with data present.
( A lot of work for what?) You just fixed your Radio Partition the only sure way- a full restore.
Other Goodies Launchers, browsers & recoveries.
CWMR SOURCE
The oudhs (buttons work swipe does not) is used in this restore. The cwmr works also. The twrp does not work on the xt907.
Updated v3.
This is an easy fix for not holding 4g or wifi.
Full ver link fixed.
Hey man, thanks for this. Quick question...is this just the stock ROM with bloat removed? Sorry if this is a dumb question...I just couldn't find details on what this ROM is.

Hahaha! Thanks for getting back to me. OK, cool...I think. So maybe you can help me understand better, so I can make an informed decision. I'm currently on 4.1.2...system version 98.15.66.xt907.en.us.
I am ROOTED with UNLOCKED Bootloader.
I attempted to take the OTA update to 98.18.78.en.us but it fails. I had some bloat frozen, so I unfroze it...the update still fails.
My question is this - is your ROM going to get me the update I'm trying to download? Sounds like it, but I want to make sure that the baseband and everything else is the same. Being that my BL is unlocked, I'm not too worried about screwing anything up (maybe I should be)...but more than anything, I just don't want to spend several hours or days trying to "fix" my phone. I realize I'll have to reinstall everything from Titanium BU, but aside from that...this is the "latest stock ROM"...right?

This is an easy sure way but you need a PC.
No PC for the ota.
Edit sorry for this false statement:
Same results as the ota.
Correction : ota saves your current system. The op's restore does not.
Until I made this I was doing Matts + ota voodoo.....9 steps.
Bootlogo fix more steps.

Yes 2nd one. Link is in op. 98=9.8 typo ? But same thing.
I am changing the title to be more clear.
Another question before I pull the trigger on this thing...your post says "TWRP 2.6 flashable is in there also to jump to TWRP if your BUs are TWRP." I am using TWRP, and I do have a restore file that I'd use if things don't work right. But, how would I restore my TWRP backup if your ROM is loading CWM?
Thanks again...you've been very helpful!

OK, you're going to shoot me...LOL. BUT, the OP isn't really clear because you have multiple files listed. The one I'm currently downloading is VRZ_XT907_9.8.1Q-78-1_1FF.xml.zip.
You also state that you have a V3 called MOD.CWMR.SU.flash.VRZ_XT907_9.8.1Q-78-1_1FF.xml.zip .
Do I need the V3 file?
Also, regarding the steps...I have no problem following them exactly, but I don't want to brick my phone. So, to help anyone else that may do this, I'm going to post what I *think* you mean because the steps are not clear. Tell me if I got anything wrong:
1. Download RSDLite and install (right click .msi file and "install")
2. Perform a data wipe (I'm assuming this is cache, dalvik cache, and a Factory Reset?)
3. Perform a backup in Recovery
4. Download VRZ_XT907_9.8.1Q-78-1_1FF.xml.zip
5. Connect phone via USB to computer, and run RSD. ?? Not sure of this step
5a. - Make sure you hold the Volume up button when the phone boots into recovery
6. Install the VRZ_XT907_9.8.1Q-78-1_1FF.xml.zip from the recovery screen.
7. Choose YES on reboot to protect recovery
8. Once booted, choose NO on everything
9. Do a test call. Browse the internet. Do something that needs root.
10. Then go to recovery and restore.?? - Totally lost on this one as I thought I would've already installed the ROM in step 6. -
I think I captured everything in your original post. Sorry, but it's not very clear at all.
Thanks!
Follow op exactly.
OK, you're going to shoot me
YES
You need examine the stripped OR full files first to see what is inside!!!
...LOL. BUT, the OP isn't really clear because you have multiple files listed. The one I'm currently downloading is VRZ_XT907_9.8.1Q-78-1_1FF.xml.zip.
OK
Unzip the above.
Unzip the stripped ver and paste into the above:
Paste the mods from the stripped ver., overwrite then choose the ...xml from rsd.
OR
You also state that you have a V3 called MOD.CWMR.SU.flash.VRZ_XT907_9.8.1Q-78-1_1FF.xml.zip .
This is the full ver NO DL OF STOCK XML NEEDED
Has all mods inside just unzip and choose the ...xml from rsd.
Do I need the V3 file?
You only need one moded xml to flash from rsd.
V3 full or v3 stripped pasted into the unmodded xml.
Also, regarding the steps...I have no problem following them exactly, but I don't want to brick my phone. So, to help anyone else that may do this, I'm going to post what I *think* you mean because the steps are not clear. Tell me if I got anything wrong:

4. Download VRZ_XT907_9.8.1Q-78-1_1FF.xml.zip
Only to use as base to paste into from the stripped v3.
Use modded here NOT ORIG.
5. Connect phone via USB to computer, and run RSD. ?? Not sure of this step
PUT THE PHONE IN BOOTLOADER. ALL KEYS AT ONCE TIL BLACK THEN LET OFF PWR THEN VOL- TO SCROLL VOL+ TO SELECT. SELECT FASTBOOT THEN RSD SHOULD RECOGNIZE THE PHONE.
5a. - Make sure you hold the Volume up button when the phone boots into recovery
MAKES SURE YOU ENTER RECOVERY WHEN RSD IS DONE
5b install UPDATE.SU.zip
6. Install the VRZ_XT907_9.8.1Q-78-1_1FF.xml.zip from the recovery screen.
#6 is the rsd source file not used from recovery.
No need for a step here before reboot. I did mean that twrp could be installed as takeover for cwmr. Good on reboot recovery you will have twrp. Watch out for the wipe EXTSD BOX!
7. Choose YES on reboot to protect recovery
8. Once booted, choose NO on everything
9. Do a test call. Browse the internet. Do something that needs root.
10. Then go to recovery and restore.??

I put my corrections in your Quote.
I learned that the update says that it failed but it really did install it. I have unlocked BL as well but took the update to receive the updated radio. After I got the same message that the update failed but once I checked the version number in the about phone it was in fact the updated radio and system version. Looks like the only thing that failed to flash was the updated bootloader

I don't think mine updated. Every time I attempt the update, it gets stuck in a bootloop, and I have to restore my backup from TWRP.
My current version in About Phone is 98.15.66 and the baseband version is SM_BP_101031.027.32.81p. Is this the radio version or is that somewhere else?

Not to start any thread drift...but is there a way to download the 49.5 MB update and just install it from TWRP? I would prefer not to reinstall all my apps, etc...but I will if I have to. As I mentioned, the OTA update fails, so I'm wondering if I can side-load it from Recovery.
Are you trying to take the ota with twrp installed as your recovery?

The #3 is the rom you were on previously.
You want to be back on it right?
Note to all.
This is not the same as the ota which assures you keep your data. It is a restore to out of the box stock condition. I will post an update on how to use recovery to restore your previous data.
Edit. Once you are back in recovery from testing and have established root you can do an advanced restore of previous data ontop of the system & boot you just came from. Just be sure to backup your just activated rom as a reference point because some stock rom data will "take" ontop of the newer system and some will not. Always wipe Dalvik and Cache before rebooting.
This is my Daily Driver http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2246081
But I could not get it to activate with 4g but by doing the same.
Heyho,
so i make it short and i hope you can help me.
I had a long time InsertCoin on my One.
I want to change it and search for Cyanogenmod. On my HTC DHD it works great. But that's only 7.3 or so.
Sure, i want to have the new CM 11 with KitKat. On InsertCoin i had KitKat too but there weren't the KitKat Features like klicking on KitKat System info to open an animation.
I search and find OneDroid Here in xda-developers
So download and copied to my internal storage.
Let's go to the Recovery. ( Before that. i had backed up my device with TWRP and Titanium Backup and copied the data files to my PC for recovering)
So i click install, choose the Rom. its start, doesn't find an MD5 File (IDK what that is but in insertCoin it wasn't there too and it works) after some minutes it says sucessfull installed. It restart.
The restart takes up to 10 minutes. And Yeah! What i see? The Lockscreen... For 1 second. Then i got very very very very lot messages of: process.com.phone has stopped or else. The CyanogeMod Account Programm stopped too.
I cant click anything - nothing possible. so i turn off and tryed to install my Backup but that was on my PC and one OneDroid Crashes the PC Driver wont be loaded.
I tried to get the OneDroid Rom over adb sideload to install (maybe the Zip on my phone was broken??) but the same. Crashes about crashes.
At the moment i try to install InsertCoin over ADB Sideload. First Try failed. he stand by 0 for over 10 minutes.
After that i will load my Backup to my internal Storage and run that.
I hope it works!!!!
ok... doesnt work... Mod edit removed suggestion of swear word.
Can you help me???
Note to OP,
I have moved your thread into the Q&A section. Also I have edited your post and removed the suggestion of the swear word. Just to let you know swearing is not allowed on XDA,
Many thanks,
Ghost

do you mean on my rom which i got with the Sideload?
BEFORE you sideload or install a new ROM..
with OneDroid if you don't do a clean install (wipe before install) cyanogenmod account will crash every time and make the phone unusable. make sure to wipe first also when reflashing onedroid after using for a little while if phone disappears and doesn't work properly flash a stock gpe rom and then reflash onedroid on it to fix.
No I have clicked wipe cache and system
Thx. Marcmicalizzi - but that not solve my problem. I thought it will ask me whether I want to perform a full wipe, therefor I was a bit wondered that I haven't any preferences which I can change in the installation
So I found the solution and have a next question.
At first the solution for the "experienced users" and as second the faster and easier solution. Both work!
So if your Device crashed all the time because you didn't perform a full wipe, hopefully you have installed your programs for rooting your one. With that you can sideload a Rom and install it. Click at the aroma installation perform a full wipe!!!
If you want to do it very very easier and you don't have so much skills and experience in adb via commands you can install the all in one rootkit for the HTC one. Left down, there is a list. The first entry is the command for sideload a Rom. Click on it and follow the tips on the screen. On TWRP you start the sideload mode in the recovery under advance/sideload.
So you can fix your phone
WARNING!! Very important is (by me it hasn't work without it) if you start the sideload mode on your phone, don't check wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache.
It hasn't began the installation.
Tomorrow I can upload some pictures and links
So I'm back to InsertCoin.
One question. Before I want to switch to onedroid, I did an Rom backup. I want to restore it but it stopped and didn't go further...
After 20minutes I break that up and install the Rom clear.
Are I'm allowed to copie the backup to my PC and later again back to my one? I gave it a new name but renamed on my phone the old name.
Is that one of the reasons that it didn't work correctly?
