Problems to install RUU - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I would like to install the RUU on my HTC One. I had S-ON, unlocked bootloader via HTC Dev, and TWRP recovery installed. Now, I have installed the Stock Recovery, relocked the bootloader, and tried to install the 1.28 European ruu. My cid is HTC__001 Everithing runs fine, until I get an error number 140. ¿Any ideas? Thanks

Since you are S-ON, you cannot install an RUU that is older than your current firmware, you can only stay on the same firmware or upgrade but you cannot downgrade to an older firmware, and till now there are still no RUU's for android 4.2 for the HTC One!

[Q] Get completely back to stock for repair

Hi,
i need to get back to stock after i did
- S-OFF via revone (without unlocking via htcdev)
- Flash TWRP recovery
- Did a NANDROID of the stock rom
- Install ViperOne ROM
Originalbuild:
1.29.401.16 CL177101 release-keys
I think there are 2 options:
1) Run a RUU
2) Restore stock rom via RWRP and flash original recovery, then S-ON via revone
Is this right? What shall i do best?
And where do i get the stock recovery for 2)
And the 1.29 RUU WWE Europe is not available, can i just run the way older one and then OTA to 1.29?
Thank you very much!
Regards
Daniel

You mean this one
"RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.7_Radio_4A.13. 3231.27_10.31.1131.05_release_310878_signed.exe"
?
Is it possible to flash an older RUU when a newer version is installed at the moment?
S-ON is done with the RUU? Or do i need to do this seperately?
Then just OTA to get 1.29 (which they delivered)?

Yep, that one. With S-OFF you can flash an older RUU as it doesn't check the current mainver on the device. Once you have flashed the RUU and confirmed it's working you can then set the CID back to HTC__001 (if you changed it to Super CID) and then back to S-ON and you're good to go!

Tampered should not appear when i did not unlock via htcdev i thought?
Where do i find the traces of revone?
Hi,
here is my report of getting back to stock:
1) Flashed latest available RUU
2) Updated via OTA but did not get the absolute latest software (which was on the device before)
3) pushed revone to the device and locked it again
4) wrote secureflag 3 for s-on
5) deleted revone from /data/local/tmp (!!!)
6) flashed the latest OTA via fastboot manually (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42924796)
Done
Worked like a charm
Thanks guys! Thanks revone Team!

[Q] Just want to confirm if I can flash RUU when I"m S-OFF and CID11111111

All,
I have the Dev Edition with S-OFF and CID111111 running ARHD 13.3. With the latest update to the Dev Edition to 4.3, can I just flash the RUU for the latest of the Dev Edition? Will it work with TWRP custom recovery?
Thanks for any info.
Emh, the RUU isn't a zip, but an exe that you have to flash with the pc...
However, you can flash it
You can flash an RUU when S-OFF with Super CID, I've done it a number of times
The RUU is a complete update so it will overwrite the custom recovery anyway
Awesome guys....with that being said, I have a few more question. Since I'm S-Off and Super CID, you said I can flash any RUU, but it will wipe the custom recovery. That is fine, but when I want to flash a ROM in the future, I will have to reflash a new recovery correct? Will this mess with my HBOOT? I'm on 1.55 right now.
Also, I'm on the http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39588860 looking at the collecdtion of RUU's...do I flash the ZIP, EXE or the Decrypted RUU's?
Again, thanks for your replies!
Download the RUU from HTCDev directly so you know you've got the right file, then flash it with the phone connected in fastboot. It will downgrade the HBOOT and put the phone back to 1.29.1540.16 and be just like it was out the box (except you'll still be S-OFF with Super CID). You can then get the OTA to .17 and then the OTA to Android 4.3...after that, you can flash a custom recovery and do what you want (but I'd take a nandorid first of course)
EDDYOS,
Thanks for all your info!! I will do exactly that!
One last question, I promise...since I am on S-OFF I should not be worried that flashing the RUU and downgrading to HBOOT 1.54 and not be able to achieve SOFF again? Cause isn't 1.54 having issues with SOFF? Or does that not matter to me since I have the Dev Editoin?
Again, thanks for all your advice.
You'll stay S-OFF so it's irrelevant...the only way you'll go S-ON is if YOU make it. RUUs/OTAs don't touch it
Example:
I'm currently on 2.24.401.8, HBOOT 1.54 and have S-OFF (as I did it when I could ages ago). I recently went back to 1.28.401.7 using the RUU and was still S-OFF. I then got the 4 OTAs to get back to 2.24.401.8 and I'm still S-OFF

[Q] How to go back to stock O2

Hello.
I have HTC One which had O2 customisations and I really wanted to get rid of them.
I unlocked bootloader on HTCdev site, installed custom recovery and flashed Android Revolution HD v30.
I couldn't get S-Off since I am on HBOOT 1.54
Now, since there is rumrunner for HBOOT 1.54, I want to install stock rom, change CID to Developer so I can have latest updates, but I didn't backup my stock firmware.
Is there any way to go stock, run rumrunner, change CID and update OTA?
HTC ONE
Android Revolution HD v30 (4.3)
Kernel 3.4.10-gd6f147e
Baseband 4A.17.3250.14_10.39.1150.04L
Build number 3.57.401.500
HBOOT 1.54.000
CID : O2___001
Thank you all in advance!

can you do fastboot getvar mainver for me please????
---------- Post added at 03:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:02 PM ----------
firstly you don't need a stock o2 rom (the unbranded one will do) it is dependant on your firmware. so:
firstly do fastboot getvar mainvar
if you get 2.24.206.7 as a result (i did)
flash the stock rom in the link below
downlaod the FIXED 2.24.401.8 tool from the rumrunner website
disable antiviris and firewall on pc and make sure u meet all the prerequisites on the rumrunner website
Run the tool
hit thanks if s off

Everything worked as you said. Now I have superCID, installed developer ROM, S-Off (thanks to rumrunner).
Thank you!

I think you will need to restore to a CID thats getting the updates and you will also need to install stock recovery. Beautiful thing about s off is that u can set your CID to the one that first receives the update

changing CID

You can change to whatever CID you have but you MUST have same software version as your CID to receive OTA...
That means:
fastboot getvar cid = adb shell getprop ro.cid

you don't need to relock bootloader as you S-OFF to receive/apply OTA but completely stock is a MUST including stock recovery

[Q] Downgrade HBoot/firmware for repair?

Hi,
I want to send my HTC One in for repair, so first I need to restore it to stock.
However, I recently updated my firmware (and hboot) to the new 4.4.3 base (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2793539) so right now I am (s-off) on hboot 1.57.0000... Is this a problem when sending it in since this firmware isn't officially released yet (or is it)? And if it is, is it possible to downgrade my hboot?
Also, must I flash the firmware WITH the red warning before going S-on and locking the bootloader again?
I have flashed the stock odexed ROM, boot.img and recovery from the ARHD site (http://android-revolution-hd.blogspot.nl/p/android-revolution-hd-mirror-site-var.html).
Thanks in advance for any help!
No that firmware isn't officially released yet, it's still in testing stages so you will have to downgrade your firmware to 5.??.401.? Lucky for you this firmware comes with hboot 1.57 however if you have flashed a modded hboot/firmware ie to remove red text, then you will need to flash an official one, just find the official firmware package and use that, it comes with the hboot inside it, if you s-on with modded firmware or hboot you will have an instant brick.
The arhd site your got the Rom from should have the firmware package too.

Great, thanks! I will flash the original firmware in a sec, but the most recent RUU I can find is this one: http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu_m7_...0-38r-1157-04l_release_353069_signed_2-1-exe/
And I am not sure if that is also based on hboot 1.57 and because of that, if I am able to flash this RUU. Currently I am downloading it but the download speed is terrible, I will report back after I tried.
Or are you saying that I can flash the stock firmware 5.xx.401.xx on top of the current 6.xx firmware? I thought that wouldn't be possible because I'm currently on a higher firmware version but I'll give it a shot!
If you are s-off, you can flash or downgrade anything, however I would personally flash the matching firmware to the ruu that you are downloading, however, the firmware and hboot will be included in the ruu and be downgraded when you run the ruu, so just run it, once it's finished and you boot the phone, you can ota up to the latest version.

You may have to remove the TAMPERED flag before running the ruu and also lock your bootloader, not relocked as the ruu will replace which ever recovery you ha e on your phone for the stock one, sometimes the ruu requires a locked bootloader whether s-off or s-on.
Once it's finished, boot the phone once and then back into bootloader and check the hboot version, if it is lower than the version you have on there now then you'll know you have stock hboot and should be safe to s-on, however like I said before, make sure your locked and tampered has gone before setting s-on (not sure if s-on is required for warranty)

Unfortunately I don't know that, there's been some reports it comes back after you s-on not after the ruu, I think it's HTC 's way of catching you out, others say it's been fine, are you sending it to HTC or your operator ?

However , if you've had s-off with that phone before, chances are you'll get it again, you'll just have to do whatever you did before to get it, then go back to stock again, and send it s-off.
