Hi All,
I have incredible S which is S-Off by revolutionary. I have 4ext touch recovery. Currently I have Nik JB Evolution installed which is my first custom rom. Whenever I install any other custom rom after successful installation, when rebooting after install, the phone gets stuck at Boot Animation.
I even flashed boot.img from cmd but nothing good happening. Any help will help a lot. Thanks in advance.

In addition to manually flashing the boot.img file from the new ROM's zip file, are you performing a Full Wipe/Wipe Cache and Wipe Dalvik cache?
Yes I am doing this all... still no good...stuck with the current ROM.. no other ROM is booting up...

I went into recovery and wiped system, data, cache and delvik cache. Does this means formatting all the partitions?
Sent from my Incredible S using xda premium
If you are using 4ext touch recovery, it is available in the wipe/format menu:
"Format system, dalvik, cache and android.secure" (all partitions except fat32 micro SD partition).
Use it every time you flash a different ROM. Or search for the ARHD super wipe script in the arhd thread in the Dev section. The ARHD Suprr wipe script zip file does the same function when flashed from recovery.

What ROM was it? Did you try to flash the boot.img instead of the ROM.zip? I didn't really understand your original post.
If you flash the Zip it should go through the whole Aroma installer, etc...

Yeah its buggy as hell sometimes, I think it helps to use the volume and power buttons to navigate through it.
If it crashes just force reboot to recovery and try again.

You don't need to flash boot.img after flashing ARHD. I'm using ARHD with a custom kernel and never flashed a boot.img once.
Where are you when trying to reboot?

I installed a custom recovery (TWRP) on my HTC One after unlocking the bootloader. When I try to launch it, it goes the the white "loading recovery" screen for 10 seconds before the screen goes black. I tried "fastboot erase cache" to no effect.
I tried reinstalling TWRP installing CWM as well, which didn't fix things. What should I do next?
Sorry for the noob question, but I can't seem to find a resource for this.

Hi All,
Vivid S-ON AT&T here.
I'm having some trouble moving from [ROM][4.1.2][WEEKLY] Official CyanogenMod 10 for HTC Holiday (Vivid/Raider/Velocity) to [ROM] CM10.1 AOSP 4.2.2 Jellybean [KANG] [Aug-6]. Per the guide, I thought this would just require wiping cache + dalvik and then flashing the boot.img as I did to get to the 4.1.2 ROM. But it doesn't take; each time I finish flashing the boot.img it reboots, gets to the "Cyanogen Mod" boot image and just hangs there.
I had this same issue updating between "weeklies," but ignored it since I was happy enough just being on CM. So, in case I was wrong in thinking it was just a clear dalvik + cache, I re-locked, flashed the stock RUU and started all over. To the same result.
Any thoughts or help you can provide would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
The suggestion that has worked for many people... Is flash the boot.img before and after the ROM... Or twice in a row...

Ya, I saw that too. I've tried flashing the boot.IMG, clearing the cache and then doing it again; I've tried doing it multiple times in a row to make it "stick," but no luck. Thanks.
I have no idea why - but being stubborn I kept clearing the cache, doing factory resets, flashing the boot.img multiple times and somehow it finally took.
Mods - this is closed.
Thanks.
Hey... One more thing...
Try
fastboot erase cache
After flashing both ROM and boot.img... But before initial boot

I personally only recommend a fastboot flash of the boot.img.. Safest way
I've installed the CM 10.1 to my vivid, I flashed the boot.img using fastboot usb, and installed the rom via TWRP 2.4.4.0. before any install i used the all the wipe functions im suppose too.
When it finally boots it works for like maybe a 1 sec and then reboots. What did I do wrong?

Use wcx recovery in version 2.2 of hasoons toolkit. Wipe system, dalvik, cache, data, and do a factory reset all in wcx recovery then flash the rom then flash the correct gaps for cm10.1 or android 4.2.2 then go into the bootloader (advanced option) then flash the boot.img (fastboot flash boot boot.img)

Your device mobo is probably going bad and needs more power than usual to run it. Sorry. If i can get linux to boot I'll send a kernel your way to flash and see if it fixes the problem
Try overvolting the CPU, with an init.d script, that should stop it freezing up, init.d because you won't have a chance of doing it with an app
