Its better to make a new thread...
You should attach in flash mode first then select and install drivers, now open flash tools app
If still flash tools doesn't recognize use Gordon's gate PC app to reset drivers,(this app is in your flash tools folder / drivers)

So plug your device in flash mode? How to do it? Press "back" button of your phone and then connect to PC.

[Q] X8 hangs at SE Logo

Hey guys, I have a problem, but it is bigger than you think.
Until today I have used GingerDX v0.27. I wanted to update it to v0.29. So I have done everything as always.
I have downloaded the .zip-file.
Then I have copied the .zip-file onto my SD-Card.
I started the phone while pushing the back-key.
I have cleaned the cache and installed the .zip-file.
But then I have made a huge mistake:
I have cleaned the cache again.
I don't know if I have bricked my phone when I have cleaned the cache again, but now it hangs at the Sony Ericsson-logo.
So I tried to start the phone while pushing the back-key. But nothing happens. I can only see the SE-logo.
Because I can't enter the CWM-Recovery I tried to install the stock ROM with Sony PC Companion 2.1.
But it simply doesn't recognize my phone. (I've clicked on "Repair phone" and done all that what the suite wanted. But it stays at "Connect your phone with USB while holding the back-key".)
So I have downloaded the "FlashTool".
But when I start it, click on Flash, click on the X8 Firmware (I've downloaded it from the Internet) "X8 Shakira E15i 2.1..." and follow the steps which are displayed on the screen it shows me this in the FlashTool:

I have searched today the whole internet, but all of them could enter the cwm or use the Sony PC companion.
I have already installed the drivers.
I also have already removed the battery, waited a few seconds and putted it back.
Then I have pressed and hold only the back-key and connected it to my pc.
But I always get the same situation as posted above.
But thanks for trying to help me.
PS: Of course my USB-Cable is working.

OMG! I can't believe it! I've looked at my chronics in safari and i've just seen I have downloaded (and installed) the wrong GingerDX!
I have installed the GingerDX for the Alfs/nAa Kernel, and not for the stock one.
Anything I can do now? (I haven't tried the Update Service yet, I am going to try it tomorrow):crying:
Try using flashtool and flash 2.1 stock rom

Cool, it works now with Sony Ericsson Update Service. I don't know why, but after I recharged the phone and connected it my pc installed the drivers again. (Like half a year before when I have restored it.)
here
ive aleardy encounter that problem before..i just do not press back key when powering my x8 thus i tend to press EVERY KEY (MENU,HOME,BACK,POWER) then it enter recovery..
in flashtool you must check ur driver (gordon gate),(FLASHTOOL/DRIVER) (Download Seus) then reflash your x8

I made the same mistake of installing GDXv029 for wrong kernel. Could you mention if you used PCC or standalone Update service app to unbrick your X8? I seem to be stuck with PCC doing nothing and Flashtool giving driver & USB debugging off errors.
If you can still enter CWM or XRecovery, restore a backup, or wipe everything and flash the correct version.

Nope, bricked beyond CWM or XRecovery. That's the first thing I tried in hope.

u tries SEUS? google it and try that, sure some1 sed this once on this thread tho
1. Let it charge for about an hour.
2. Download Sony Ericsson Update Service (SEUS). IMPORTANT: It must be SEUS and not the other one from the Sony website. This won't work. Here. Just click on the blue "zum Download" button, and then click on the "download-server Chip online" button.
3. Start the programe and follow the steps.
Now it should work if you do it correct.
Use Sony Update Service to unbrick your phone :good:

Yea, it did work. I had asked in the earlier post to Jake whether SEUS worked for him. Meanwhile, I was downloading it.
Sorry, I didn't see your reply earlier. I still have a problem of the phone resetting when someone answers my call or if someone calls in! So looks like I need to go to SE service centre anyway.
Thanks though.
Seems a lot of you are having the same problems I had with using Sony PC Companion to restore your phone.
Here is the proper method.
Follow these instructions STEP BY STEP, and you will eventually restore your X8 to its original state:
- Turn off the phone, and unplug it from the PC !
- On your PC, uninstall Sony PC Companion
- Restart your PC
- On your PC, clean any Cache and Registry related to Sony PC Companion, then restart PC again.
- Reinstall Sony PC Companion by downloading it from here
- Turn on Sony PC Companion on your PC
- In Sony PC Companion, enter the Support Zone tab
- Go to Update Phone Software
A window will pop out, saying that it cannot find your phone
- Click on Fix Phone
- Click on Continue
A window will pop out, saying that you will lose all your data
- TICK the BOX
- Click on continue
An update process will began.
Wait for it to show a window with all the SONY mobile phones
- Find your phone (X8)
- Click on the phone.
Now all you have to do is follow the on-screen instructions. It will tell you to hold the back button and plug your turned-off X8 to the PC, then it will erase everything, and download the original 2.1 ROM to your X8.
If Sony PC Companion STILL doesn't recognize your X8, then, uninstall Sony PC Companion AGAIN, and start the above described process AGAIN. It WILL eventually work!
My Phone Worked! once i flashed a Custom Kernel ROM into Stock! Good Luck.
the resolution
try to use pc companion(for the easy one)
or try to use x8tool for unbrick some trouble
you can use recovery if some of them still can operate
if u got hard brick try to use seus
and if u got dead boot u can give the phone to the sony centre or just throw your old phone to the trash :v
usb flash mode must be done imediately after .....

Dear
please pay attention to this guide.
i think you can not turn off your phone by power key while Sony Ericsson logo appears and you must remove the cover and take the battery out.is it ok?
for flashing by flash tools, start it and go ahead till it asks you to connect your phone in flash mode.
remove your phone cover and then battery .put the battery and then imadiately push the back key and connect usb cable.hold down the back key till the flashing starts.all must be done within 5 second.
recommendation:
1-flashtools version:x10 flashing tool version 0.6.9.1 built 2012-04-09
2-PCC
3-rom X8_2.1.1.C.0.0._un_2
4-X8_drivers_2
5-x8win
if the problem remains, let me know the flashtool messege.

if the problem remains, let me know the flashtool messege. or you`d better to use Sony Ericsson Update Engine.

Bricked Xperia Z

I bricked my Xperia Z by trying to flash CM10.1 without flashing boot.img on a locked device.
I downloaded a stock ftf file and tried to flash using flashtool. I can get the phone to boot in to flash mode but then all it does is disconnect/reconnect.
I have tried on Windows 7 and OSX, both with the same results. I tried using SEUS, it found an update but when i click to update the phone disconnects/reconnects (i know this from the sound windows make)

Yes i did. Theres something no right with the detection of the phone as it keeps on disconnecting/connecting when i plug it in via flash mode.
The SEMC Drivers were installed correctly. The exact same thing happens on my OSX which makes me believe an issue with the phone itself?

Yeah tried that.
Tried to flash on my mums Windows 8 PC today, got a little further, however after connection via flash boot it hangs for a couple of minutes and then the phone boots to the sony logo with a solid red LED.
I also noticed the device ID is just a string of characters, shouldnt it say Xperia Z??
If its still on a locked bootloader, return it through warranty. You should get a brand new device.
Tell them you were updating to. 253 and it wouldn't boot after.
(I know this is lazy and probably unethical but if it works it works)
did you solve this issue ?

Keep volumm down and connect your phone to computer >> open PC companion >> click on Support Zone >> Click on Phone Software update >> Click Repair >> Wait till it done . Try it's . Good luck .
the best method is download SONY UPDATE SERVICE software to your pc. after installing update service, turnoff your mobile then press and hold the volume down key , and connect it with your pc. (even if your phone is not charged no problem ). release the volume down key when the on screen instruction says it. after that if the system says your phone has latest software, then select reinstall the software. wait until it finish. thats all.
dont do too more
just power off ur sp bu stick the reset button in the backcover, and power on,see what happen, take it easy and carefully

[Q] Xperia SP bricked

Hey
I just read that I could get the update by editing the build.prop file
So I copied the build.prop file someone posted in another thread, and rebooted.
File Source: http://dl.xda-developers.com/attach...4f75e54/52fa6db5/2/5/7/2/9/4/6/build.prop.zip
Now, the phone's not booting at all. The "Xperia" screen comes, and it tries to reboot, and this keeps on happening.
It's a rooted C5302 with locked bootloader

here are the flashtool logs. It's trying to reboot after every unsuccessful boot
turn off your phone by holding volume up + power until 3 vibrations...then flash whatever you want by flashtool..
I'm downloading the .254 firmware right now, as I don't see any .ftf uploads for C5302.
But I don't know if it will work, I mean, It's constantly rebooting, even in flashmode.
Edit: After the first unsuccessful attempt to boot into flashmode, it seems to be automatically rebooting in normal mode, and not flashmode.
There's no way I can flash the stock firmware.

Umm... you should probably get a new phone or flash a custom rom. If that doesnt work then you REALLY need a new phone. Besides, your warranty is gone :/

This ain't the samsung forums. If you have fastboot then flash doomkernel to get recovery ( C5303 Ftfs work with C5302 )
Bootloader Status: locked
No custom ROMs ever flashed, just rooted the phone.
Took it to customer care center today, they were like the motherboard is ****ed up.
They've taken it under warranty for now. They're gonna replace the motherboard, they said.
Hope they never find out what actually happened :fingers-crossed: and I get it all covered under warranty

The phone wouldn't boot in any of the modes: Normal, Fastboot, Flashmode.
It would reset/go into bootloop seconds after I boot it into any mode.
Of course fastboot won't work you have a locked bootloader
