When the phone is in Flashmode, and the device isn't receiving any activity, it will restart itself to the system.

Al you need to do is to firts go to flashtool (dont connect your device) go to flashmode.choose ftf that you want to install, click flash.and then you will get prepare for flashing line.when its prepared it will said you to connect phone in flashmode..NOW CONNECT PHONE IN FLASHMODE.And thats it!!just connect device in right time!!
Sent from my C5303 using xda app-developers app

Keep volumm down and connect your phone to computer >> open PC companion >> click on Support Zone >> Click on Phone Software update >> Click Repair >> Wait till it done . Try it's . Good luck .

the best method is download SONY UPDATE SERVICE software to your pc. after installing update service, turnoff your mobile then press and hold the volume down key , and connect it with your pc. (even if your phone is not charged no problem ). release the volume down key when the on screen instruction says it. after that if the system says your phone has latest software, then select reinstall the software. wait until it finish. thats all.

dont do too more
just power off ur sp bu stick the reset button in the backcover, and power on,see what happen, take it easy and carefully

X8 Can't boot to flashmode

Hi guys, i don't know what happened but since the last time i flashed kernel, i can't boot to flashmode anymore.. I'm using nAa ICS 2 kernel and MiniCM9 3.0.1 by nAa.. I want to flash to nAa-ics-3 and then update to 3.0.2 but can't boot my phone to flashmode.. It just doesn't respond while I'm holding the back button.. Tried installing the LATEST version of flashtool, tried removing and reinstalling usb drivers, rebooting pc several times but nothing helps.
Flash tool just says that the phone is connected but usb debugging is off.. But when i boot it back into normal state, debugging is on, kernel and software is recognized and everything is working as it should..
Had the same problem using the latest version of FlashTool!
I then tried v 0.6.9.1 and it worked flawlessly, so try this version!
Still nothing.. Here's the output from the FlashTool
Code:

I just can't figure it out.. :/
1 disconnect your device
2 in flashtool click on the flash icon -> flashmode -> select what you want to flash -> click ok
3 flashtool will say you to connect the phone while holding down the back key. do it
you need to connect the phone after flashtool says so, not before (according to the log, you connected the phone and then choosed file to flash)
Put on the stock rom (the one we get from the Sony) or backup u have of your stock rom.. then try to flash it..
You can get stock rom by using PC companion and update o repair or a ftf file from our own XDA...

Still doesn't work.. I'm holding the back button while the phone is off and while I'm connecting the charger.. And still won't boot to flashmode.. And, as soon as i let go of the back button, the phone starts charging itself..
@sidhart
I'll try that on a weekend.. Now I'm afraid not to brick it xD i need it for work during the week.. If i brick it on a weekend, i will be able to buy a new one on time.. :/
Is your phone recognized by the PCC when you connect it?
Sent from my W8
Same thing happened with me the debugging was not detected when I first tried to unlock bootloader so I went back to the W8 stock rom and then it worked properly...
Try it only when there is no other way out...

Use SUES to revert back to stock rom/kernel and reflash from there. Also had this problem a few months back changing kernels.
With nAa and Alfs for cm7 kernels u dont have to hold back button it boots to flash mode automaticly when powered off and u plug the cable.
@sidhart The phone is recognized by PCC but as X10 not X8 xDDD So I'm afaid to revert to stock flash/kernel over PCC..
@Pipi14 I'm using nAa ICS kernel ( 02 ) for CM9, you think it might be the same?

Try reinstaling the rom cm9 using cwm then it might work properly..
Dont forget factory reset and wipe data cache..
Reply me if you try it...

Yeah i have used nAa kernel from the beginning and all his kernels automaticly boot in to flashmode when turned off and plugging the cable. I used MiniCm9 3.0.2 for two days reverted back to MiniCm7 2.2.0 cuz Its kinda slow for me still. But maybe next release of MiniCm9 will be my daily rom.
Hit thanx if i helped.
OMG i didn't knew this.. It did work I've flashed the new kernel sucessfully Thanks a lot

Bricked Xperia Z

I bricked my Xperia Z by trying to flash CM10.1 without flashing boot.img on a locked device.
I downloaded a stock ftf file and tried to flash using flashtool. I can get the phone to boot in to flash mode but then all it does is disconnect/reconnect.
I have tried on Windows 7 and OSX, both with the same results. I tried using SEUS, it found an update but when i click to update the phone disconnects/reconnects (i know this from the sound windows make)

Yes i did. Theres something no right with the detection of the phone as it keeps on disconnecting/connecting when i plug it in via flash mode.
The SEMC Drivers were installed correctly. The exact same thing happens on my OSX which makes me believe an issue with the phone itself?

Yeah tried that.
Tried to flash on my mums Windows 8 PC today, got a little further, however after connection via flash boot it hangs for a couple of minutes and then the phone boots to the sony logo with a solid red LED.
I also noticed the device ID is just a string of characters, shouldnt it say Xperia Z??
If its still on a locked bootloader, return it through warranty. You should get a brand new device.
Tell them you were updating to. 253 and it wouldn't boot after.
(I know this is lazy and probably unethical but if it works it works)
did you solve this issue ?

You should attach in flash mode first then select and install drivers, now open flash tools app
If still flash tools doesn't recognize use Gordon's gate PC app to reset drivers,(this app is in your flash tools folder / drivers)

Unable to access xRecovery after restore process

Hello,
After flashing this ROM I rebooted my device then it stuck to Sony Ericsson splash screen; I tried to skip it but unfortunately I couldn't so removed the battery then tried to access xRecovery as usually but I couldn't do that!!!
My Phone now is a brick and I hopeful to get some help from you to access xRecovery to be able to flash another ROM doesn't broke my device.
The original installed ROM is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=955467 ;it was working well but it's working under Android 2.1 while I'm looking for much modern version of Android for that I tried to install http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1575094
I suspect that using xRecovery instead of CWM is the main reason of breaking my device but this is very late because I did my stupid move and the disaster done:crying:
1. The rom you flashed is for custom kernels, your phone is bricked because you flashed it on stock kernel
2. U shouldn't be using xrecovery, its outdated, use CWM

My battery dead:crying: and another thing, I can't power it off so I've to remove the battery manually to be able to power it off.
How can I power it on while the battery off (I can see a red flashing led)
After connecting my device on recharge I can see the damn splash screen of Sony Ericsson.
I tried to use same steps as mentioned in the guide but keeping pressing on "back" button didn't do anything!
here's the log of my try:

Thanks a lot, the issue was related to old version of Flashtool; after using flashtool-0.9.13.0-linux.tar.7z with USB drivers as mentioned in this post; everything went perfectly.
Thanks once agian for help and I wish you best.
BTW, I want to use Android 4.0 or newer; may you please advice me which ROM is better.

Try different jelly bean roms...
Everyone has different setup and different experience, try it yourself.
And on our x8, 4.0 is heavier than 4.1 so I recommend to use jelly bean

Actually I want to use Android 4.0 or newer because some used apps (ex. ownCloud) need a newer version than 2.1 and because 2.1 is very slow with my contacts (about 1500 contact). So I want to know before flashing a new ROM if it will fix these two issues or not.

[Q] Xperia SP bricked

Hey
I just read that I could get the update by editing the build.prop file
So I copied the build.prop file someone posted in another thread, and rebooted.
File Source: http://dl.xda-developers.com/attach...4f75e54/52fa6db5/2/5/7/2/9/4/6/build.prop.zip
Now, the phone's not booting at all. The "Xperia" screen comes, and it tries to reboot, and this keeps on happening.
It's a rooted C5302 with locked bootloader

here are the flashtool logs. It's trying to reboot after every unsuccessful boot
turn off your phone by holding volume up + power until 3 vibrations...then flash whatever you want by flashtool..
I'm downloading the .254 firmware right now, as I don't see any .ftf uploads for C5302.
But I don't know if it will work, I mean, It's constantly rebooting, even in flashmode.
Edit: After the first unsuccessful attempt to boot into flashmode, it seems to be automatically rebooting in normal mode, and not flashmode.
There's no way I can flash the stock firmware.

Bump!
Isn't there anyone who could help me out?
Umm... you should probably get a new phone or flash a custom rom. If that doesnt work then you REALLY need a new phone. Besides, your warranty is gone :/

I guess u still have ur warranty, cause u have not unlocked boot loader..take it to Sony service center.don't mention anything about root.

He doesnt have warranty. He flashed custom roms, but he could get it back if he did reset his flash counter though.

Mate he is specific that he changed build.prop,he cannot flash custom Rom without unlocking bootloader.
P.S : I had this problem but I restored it from CWM restore.he still has chances to get it repaired.

This ain't the samsung forums. If you have fastboot then flash doomkernel to get recovery ( C5303 Ftfs work with C5302 )
Bootloader Status: locked
No custom ROMs ever flashed, just rooted the phone.
Took it to customer care center today, they were like the motherboard is ****ed up.
They've taken it under warranty for now. They're gonna replace the motherboard, they said.
Hope they never find out what actually happened :fingers-crossed: and I get it all covered under warranty

The phone wouldn't boot in any of the modes: Normal, Fastboot, Flashmode.
It would reset/go into bootloop seconds after I boot it into any mode.
Of course fastboot won't work you have a locked bootloader

I've had this issue, it's difficult but I managed, hold the down button for flashmode, press reset button, as soon as you release it plug phone in as fast as you can! Takes me a few tries but it should work unless you did something really really bad
