[Q] Kernels and flashing custom ROM

I'm new to this Galaxy Note device and a bit confused about some requirements i read about flashing roms.
Several makes mention about that it works only for a specific kernel. How do I find out which kernel I have?
The phone currently is on paranoandroid 4.2.2 custom rom. Since it's a bit lagging, i want to flash it to a new better rom.
I'm unsure if I can simply download any custom rom and flash it or should I flash a specific kernel prior?
Also if you have any recommended rom with stock s-pen functionality would be great.

you can download any rom of you choice and flash as its on a good kernel. for Spen you will need to stick with TW custom roms or stock roms

ROM with good battery + german lang?

I'm searching for a Custom ROM with german language and with good battery support.
Finally I use on other devices AOKP ROM's.
What ROM do you think, I can play with?

Previously I owned a rooted Xperia arc. At that time, almost all custom roms used to mention supporting kernels. But here in Z1 development, I found that Custom Roms don't mention whether they run on stock kernel or DEV Kernel.
I want to know it because if custom roms are running on stock, then I skip Unlocking the boot-loader. If they running on DEV kernels, how ll I know which kernel for which rom ??

Question Noob custom ROM

Hello everybody,
I would like to advise from you, since the phone with the magisk goes into the boot-loop. I would be tempted to install a custom ROM but I have doubts about it ...
Is it possible to install all the applications of the Gogleplay or APK that is on the custom ROMs?
What is the best custom ROM around?

The only guide is never buying mtk device. Because no developers for it.

The problem is not MTK, there is just no correct sources from Xiaomi.
