Hi guys,
I'm not new to doing anything with odin and galaxy s2, s3 phones. But.. I'll be selling my friend's Galaxy S3 MINI, but he rooted his phone and wants to get the warranty back.. So I came on the scene I did everything what was in this topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2150822 . With Triangle away, everything worked just fine, but with the stock_recovery.tar.md5 I have some troubles. I flashed it via Odin, but the custom binary counter jumped on +1 again, but in the topic he said, that it shouldn't raise the counter...
I reset the counter via Triangle away again and wanted to flash in the firmware from this site: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2159660
But before I proceeded, I stopped myself and wrote this thread.. Because I have fear, that when I will flash this official firmware, the counter will raise up again(even thought, that it shouldn't, I think it will - like with the stock_recovery) .
So help me please ?
Thank you,
Paul

All tutorials for unrooting i8190 include using Odin, is it possible for someone to post a tutorial for Mac users?
Thanks
Thank you but

So I did everyhting from the start... I erased custom binary count with triangleaway. Then I unrooted the phone via SuperSU. Then I flashed stock recovery via CWM recovery. Then I flashed stock rom via Odin: I8190XXAMD3_I8190OXXAMD1_HOME.tar
After that, this is how it was: imgur.xxx/mC0AY77

Is that possible to unroot my note by flashing a stock rom(with no root and no CWM) using odin?
I rooted by galaxy note few weeks ago by flashing a rooted stock rom(with cwm installed) using odin. Afterward, I flashed rocketrom through clockworkmod.
I am wondering if it is possible to unroot and restore back to stock by simply using odin to flash an unrooted original stock rom(please note i am currently running rocketrom).
I know there are several methods provided in this forum like unrooting by Easy Rooting Toolkit( I know this is not possible which may result in broken system) or CF root(I doubt since i did not use cf root to root my phone), so i want to know whether unrooting by odin works. If not, please provide me any viable solutions, thx!
If you flash a stock version smartphones become like your just bought
Make wipe all before to be sure of the result.

If your ROM(which u r going to flash) is wipe version, it will wipe off all data, in case you have to backuo it first.
If you dont want to keep root, then nothing more steps required. Just flash any stock rom with odin

So by Flashing Stock Rom; Root+CWM will be wipe out too?
No need to unRoot?
But from your Root Guide, you mention
"Now How I can revert back to Stock ROM/Unroot (In case of replacemet may i need)
If You have Root + CWM - then first find out original stock kernel (zImage file)
Now place this file in zImage folder, n repeat procedure(Initial CFRoot Flasher), which you have done at time of pushing CWM by selecting I am rooted already
Now unroot with above said unrooting tool."

This is for whom, who wants to remains on existing ROM. You just can understand stock rom requires 550 mb data to download, while unrooting tools just few Mb.
So who wants new stock rom + unrooting, just flashing new stock ROM with odin is enough.

Thx for your help! Do I need to wipe data/factory reset before going back to stock from rocketrom? Recently there were some ppl saying that they bricked their phone when they tried to go back to stock using odin, this really scared me.
I dont believe note can b bricked by changing rom. Yes it can cause bootloop if you tranafere custom to stock some time. Just xlear cache, delvic cache is enough to solve it. But if you can hard reset b4 changin rom, it is always gud.

-Mobie Odin needs Root
-It keeps your root intact
PC odin can't keep your Root intact, so if you are flashing a ROM, which if newer n not directly rootable, you can't get Root after this.
PC odin gives triangle, n raise flash counter if you flash custom ROM/Kernel
Both are safe.
My apologies for the noob situation (new to Android tho a veteran iphone jailbreaker) but I did try my best reading lots of threads to seek the exact info I need:
Things I've done:
1) I got my N7000 with stock ICS 4.0.4 (Kernel: ZSLPM) yesterday
2) I followed some online resources in my local language forums and used both CWM.zip and SU-busybox-installer.zip to "root" the phone
3) I then started researching for ways to flash to JB rom but found out info regarding possible bricking hazard with stock ICS kernel and CWM.zip
appreciate if anyone could point me the safe way to :
either
1) Remove the CMW.zip and Su-Busybox-installer.zip to unroot the device and make it back to virgin state? so I can start everything over again and follow Dr. Ketan guides for rooting with safe kernel (I read we could flash the unstaller but that also need to put me back to Recovery, safe to do this under CWM.zip?)
OR
2) how could I flash my current setup (rooted already with CWM.zip) with a safe kernel ?
Thanks very much for any guidance.
Regards,
Anthony

You can go to Settongs>>About Phone & under "Kernel version" you will be able to see which kernel you are using (for ex: my Note shows HydraCore_v5.34 which is a custom kernel).
So, if you are still on Stock (i.e., un-safe kernel), use PC Odin & flash custom kernel (use Dr. Ketan's guide). Make sure *NOT* to wipe/factory reset when you are on stock kernel. In case if you want to unroot, then also you have Dr. Ketan's guide in the same post.
Start using thanks button rather than posting thanks.
Even if u r on stock rom and stock kernal to unroot flash them back using odin

CWM.zip is a tenp recovery.. it doesnot stay in the system after reboot. thou su-busybox stays... but if the phone has booted up that means u have root access now...
just install the philz kernel from here for ur rom. this is a safe kernel and u will be able to do wipes. this kernel can be flashed from stock recovery.

I have tried to flash speedmod kernel and use CWM from there but when i try to flash a rom it doesnt work and when i try to reboot it gets stuck at the boot animation. is there a way you can install CWM recovery that actually works? also if you can find an app like SGS kernel flasher except that flashes roms instead? i have tried using ROM Manager to flash CWM but all that happens is it says successfully flashed CWM recovery then when i boot into recovery it goes into android recovery 3e.

Would help to know what is your goal (flash rom, kernel, modem or simply having cwm recovery). There is a well written guide in the Q&A: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350266
But Zestar pretty much explained it. You'll need Odin 1.85 (which you will find in the guide) and a custom kernel (doesn't matter much which one as long as it supports cwm recovery). You have a lot of reading to do before jumping into this and I highly suggest it! I also bricked once outta being hasty, won't happen again
Hello guys,
So I just downloaded the leaked official JB ROM for my N7000 and flashed it successfully via Odin (I came from the latest CM10 Nightly build).
After that I wanted to flash the latest Hydracore to have my phone rooted, but apparently it comes in .zip format only.
Since I'm not rooted and I don't have CWM now, how can I get to flash Hydracore via PC Odin?
Hope someone has the answer for this, as the internet is just full of bullocks all websites are describing the same non working procedure....
Thanks all

Well, I've downloaded both v3.65 .zip files (XXLSA and XXLS7) and tried flashing them through CWM which was already on the device.
After rebooting either, it goes into a black screen after the initial boot screen (Galaxy Note GT-N7000).
Bear in mind I had already flashed Hydracore before that...
Any helpers as to what I'm doing wrong?
Should I reflash the stock ROM via PC Odin then flash Philz kernel via stock recovery?
Thanks in advance
P.S. I know I messed up big time
As what my friend nokia said. Hydracore is not compatible with jb leaks rom.
I m not so sure which kernel u r now, since u stuck at boot logo.
And I don't want to decide too fast that u have bricked ur phone.
Just try to flash the firmware again through odin. If u can, and can boot up, try to flash philz kernel from stock recovery.

That's what I'm thinking and doing now, wish me luck
I've also downloaded xxlsa to have 4.1.2 .. according to online tutorials I should flash cf-root via odin, then flash the rom via CWM .. any thoughts?
[Update - 1] phone is ok, re-flashed the stock firmware via PC Odin and it is working now, no problem! tried flashing cf-root, got stuck at the yellow triangle screen and nothing happens ... so I reflashed the stock rom again.
will try now to flash cf-root then boot into recovery, i just might be lucky
[Update - 2] upgraded to JB 4.1.2 successfully and rooted!
So which kernel are you using? and which Jelly bean?
Took me almost two days to figure this out, cannot post in development forum, so here it is:
Problem:
"old rooting files" are not working with newer ICS stock rom, tried with all the here for Tab 8.9 existing guides.
Solution:
Took the root file from the (almost similar) Tab 10.1 for ICS from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1807219 which has a link to this file:
http://www.shabbypenguin.com/users/...alaxytab10.1/Samsung_Galaxy_Tab_10.1_root.zip
Installed it with cwm recovery 5.5.0.8 (install zip file from sdcard)
and it finally worked on the 8.9 running 4.0.4 ics stock (UK/European Version)!
Combined with the a1 1.7.3 overclocking kernel, the tab now works like a charm
overclocked with app "voltage control" to 1400 Mhz.
edit: this is for model p7300/p7310 (tegra 2 versions) only
Thanks for your efforts.

Perhaps you should use another root tool. I used a busybox.zip-file.. Just flash it the same way; via CWM (install zip from sd-card)
The file is in the attachments
And if this doesn't work either, you might wanna update your CWM version first, before you flash the root tool. I have it attached as well. Updating CMW is done the same way as flashing a root tool, so: launch CMW 5 and install the CMW6.0.0.8.zip from sd-card.

You can try with Superoneclick2.3.3 - should work fine.
Or you can install CWM first with Odin: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312218
And then copy root.original.zip over to
SD-card. Turn off device. Go into recovery mode with power on+volume down (don't choose download mode)
and flash root.original there.
are you sure superoneclick are proven to work? Because a failed root attempt using superoneclick usually make tablet slow and need to hard reset
Have no idea. If in doubt flash cwm with odin and then root.

Hi guys, I am looking for some help with this. I have tried the superoneclick way and the program hangs and does not complete. I have also tried the other way, using the odin flashable CWM 5.5.0.4, but when I install it and boot into recovery, the option screen scrools so fast that I cannot see what I am selecting in order to load the root file.
Can anyone tell me if this is a known issue with this version of CWM? Does anyone know of another odin flashable version of CWM that I could try?
