resolution matters not the hardware. for example i can port roms from xperia neo to one v because same resolution 400x800 but i can't port roms from sony xperia live walkman. although both xperia neo and live walkman have snapdragon s2 processor. And for porting roms require BASE rom first then you can port. porting will have some nor the other issue. you can try porting from nexus 4. but you might have issues like camera, wifi, bluetooth. but sometimes you can be successful too..

oh..thx
Actually resolution doesn't matter in some cases. It all depends on how the ROM and its app handle different resolutions. ROM like CM should support different resolution nicely already. And some Xperia apps like phone app runs fine in both Z (1080p) and ZR (720p). But some system apps are designed to run on a specific resolution only, like most HTC apps, then you must choose those of exact resolution to use.

......I tested the framework mod from XZ..its works properly
maybe its only some apps does not work on 720P..
I'm very keen to look into this too as I would love to see Paranoid Android on this phone, hope someone is already porting it. I just started reading on how to port so am not sure my success rate. *cross fingers*
better to start with ZL roms
there is some tutorial about this on xda, search

Found my X1 sitting in the back of the drawer last week. Did a quick search and found out there is now a NAND build of android for it in the work already, great stuff!!
Last time I checked (a good while ago), sd card version of froyo was still very buggy and development seems to have put on hold. But now I noticed it is very lively here! Thanks XDA members.
My question is, has anyone ported the Xperia mini launcher (or the nand droid backup) into our X1? I tried searching, but did not see any roms build with said launcher. I think for the size of our screen, a port of a Xperia mini's rom would work wonders!
For Xperia launcher port there was ARCDroid which having Xperia Arc launcher and lots of Xperia Arc stuff in the build.. it was using SD card method to boot android..

The size of screen is ok, but the resolution (480x800=WVGA) will make mini launcher to look a bit choppy (designed for 320x480=HVGA)
Till now, the best choice and the only one is ArcDroid by Jerrytan.
But I suggest jerrytan to make a NAND ROM for us.
Greetings from Romania!!
Im planning on trading my phone but which one should is better in camera, display, sound and also rich in features and have most progress with development in xda?-Xperia Mini Pro or Sony Live with Walkman?
Im interested in mini Pro because of its keyboard,it can also be used for gaming, but im interested with the live with Walkman because of its unique design and its headset that comes with it,please help me made up my mind...
Sent from my Xperia Console(Convertible Phone into an HD console with ps3 games support, worth over 200$) using xda premium
Live with Walkman. Great sound big screen and everything 1ghz processor also.
Well, live comes whit front camera too, ins't?but anyway i prefer Mini Pro just because its keyboard, the headset you could buy a better one (looks good, but its not the best and have not much difference from the one from mini pro)and about sound quality, its android, you can change the DSP to your like!
Oh,and i think mini pro have more activit on XDA!

Xperia mini pro :
- mobile bravia engine
- Qwerty keyboard
- Beautiful screen
Live with walkman :
- Stereo speaker
- 3.2 inch screen
- Front facing camera
I have seen those phone
Xperia mini pro screen is better than live with walkman's
Sent from my ST17i
my dad has a live with walkman and he says that it is really good. has a great processer but its with gingerbread. i think it has touch buttons as well
I should recommend Live with walkman
I think I'll go with Sony live, because the camera are more stable than mini pro and the large screen but is the live with walkman's screen contrast more poor than x8 or is it better?
I think x8 screen is better than live with walkman screen.

Maybe the thread it's not bad at all, but there's a Q&A section where you can share your questions and wait for the best answer.
Peace

i think it's not possible....or rather, it will be very hard to port.
the chipset, architecture, gpu, etc is mostly different. most Sony Ericsson's use a scorpion-qualcomm-adreno combination.
for individual apps, i have ported the timescape, xperia events, SE panorama beta, many widgets and also modded the arc launcher to look in line with ICS theme.
have a half working port of FB inside xperia 2.0
BTW, there is a "wannabe arc" ROM in the dev section check out the NOA ROM by diederick at the dev forum.

Sad thats it hard to port
Hi All,
I've been switching roms since I got my Z (bundled with a BE Proximus contract for 1€, yeay) but so far I keep reverting back to the stock ROM.
There are still some issues with most CM based ROMS (eg. audio bug when switching to speakerphone) and I really like the Sony camera app for it's image quality and speedy burst mode.
On the other hand: the DPI size of the UI is terrible, the app icons are soo huge and there's no way to customize how big you want things to appear on this amazing 1920x1080 screen. I tried with the xposed framework to set custom dpi's as seen in the Paranoid rom / PAC rom, but the original launcher can't handle this properly: it sticks to 4 column grid and positions things completely wrong. Also the lockscreen sliders are not scaled as well, the Phone app looks messed up, in short, it looks terrible as soon as you want any of the Sony apps to be using a different dpi. You can adjust other apps like Gmail or the Play store though.
Since Sony released an AOSP project for the Xperia Tablet Z as well, I wonder if it would be possible to use the official firmware for the Xperia Tablet Z on the Xperia Z.
Has anyone any ideas how to investigate this? I'm definitely willing to spend some time on this one, I'd love to see my phone's amazing screen being used as a Tablet Z whilst still using the same camera and other Sony optimizations.
Kind regards,
Erik
Xperia Z has it's own official AOSP project http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2297927
Lots if things don't work though due to closed source proprietary drivers and there's not really much Sony can do about that.
Ok, I understand that the AOSP projects are far from finished. So my question should be then: is it possible to install a FTF file for the Xperia Tablet Z on the Xperia Z? So we could have the Xperia Tablet Z features on the Xperia Z?
Kind regards,
Erik
No, if flashtool allows flashing it at best it wouldn't boot, at worst it would brick your XZ. Which features specifically do you want from the XTZ?
hi guys ive come from an xperia z and zeroinfinty has taken car of all the sound mods from there but is they a working x-reality/bravia mod that we can flash manually?
ive noticed there is a few roms with it baked in but im on a rom without it and would love to have it installed
thanks
Hi,
Take a look here (but I don't know if the Xreality works really)...: Xperia Honami i1 pack ( X-Reality-Album-Walkman-Movie-Keyboard).
Otherwise in the Android Software and Hacking General or Android Software Development there are some Bravia/Xreality mod's, search for Bravia for example. I have not tested these mods...
But do we really need these kinds of mods with our awesome screens, at least if it works?

Ya I agree some say they cannot tell no difference but on the Xperia z if you turned off bravia they was quite a lot of difference not sure why lol
