Hi
Something weird has started happening with my phone since last night. Even when its not connected the battery shows up as charging and it keeps switching between charging-discharging states all by itself...I am not sure what to do?
I did a clean wipe and reinstalled everything just to be sure
I am on Asylum CM 10.2 at the moment

Clean the usb port with alcohol and cotton bud, make sure the pins are without any dirt/dust. If this doesn't work you'll need to replace the charging port which is easy.

:laugh:and i thought i was the only one with this problem..let me know if you find a solution
I googled and found this. Will try and let u know how it goes
I experienced the same problem a few days back.
I just took out the battery and wiped it dry, then kept the phone under a bulb to dry for 5 mins and put the battery back in. It started working perfect for me again
From what I concluded, the phone just had some moisture in it (It was rainy season).

Hi guys.
My note has been doing this for the past week or so:
The phone says it's charging, there's a lightning bolt sign in the battery symbol most of the time, then it'll flash off to just show a battery symbol (as it should be when not plugged in) then it'll change to just a black space. Then it'll flash back to a charging icon, then normal, then the black space, it's a cycle.
When it is actually plugged in it doesn't do the above, it just says it's charging and it does charge. But it won't let me connect USB or anything as it thinks it's already plugged in?
Does anyone know any fixes?
I've already changed to Jellybean firmware, factory restored, did a restore on CWM, wiped caches etc etc and still broken?
Anyone had the same problems? Or know any fixes?
Thanks in advance.
Oli
Try a different kernel (probably the culprit) ... also try pulling out the battery for 10 minutes

Pulled the battery out mate, but yeah will try an alternate kernel
It might be a problem with your phone's usb/charging port
Just try cleaning the charging port
The same thing happened with me I just cleaned the usb port with tooth stick slowly and worked again like charm it has been like 2 months till now If I helped jus click the thanks button enjoy yr day

Is it happening with all roms including stock or just CM based? If its cm specific then try flashing stock rom.
Its because phone detects your phone is already connected. Just get your usb port replaced and it will be okay hopefully..
Hello, I have a problem with my Galaxy S Advance; I reinstall the system with Pure Vanilla ROM (I had JellyMod before) and now I have getting problems with battery.
When I charge the phone when it is awake, it won't charge, the only way to charge it is to turn the phone off so it begin to charge, and then I'm able to turn on the phone with the cable plugged in. But when I unplug it when the charge is over, the icon on the phone is stuck to 100%, it only shows the real battery amount left when I restart it.
Besides, now my battery drains really fast, during the night, it can drains to 40 to 0% in 8 hours.
Does someone knows what the problem is?
Try battery caliberation
I will sugest another rom like harsh jelly with cocore.

You could try to take your battery out to see if something is wrong
Or, after all the options above didn't help to solve the problem, then you should consider changing your battery
I tried battery calibration, but no results. And I already took the battery out, but nothing more happens.
But I noticed that with Better Battery Stats there's a process that is always awake in the kernel wakelock section, "ab8500_charger_attached_lock". Could this be the problem?
No one knows if I can delete the "ab8500_charger_attached_lock", and if there is a way?
Well, I found the solution, if anybody has this problem; the usb connecter was the cause: the metallic part in the center seemed close to one other and even when the phone wasn't charging, it made it think like it was. So I just took a knife and straightened it up and now everything is back to normal.

hello,
i've this problem with my galaxy note N7000
yesterday when i unplugged my note from the charger it kept giving the charging sign
and today it just says "charge" "not charge" and battery is dying faster than usual
P.S i've bought a new battery a month ago
i need to know whether this is a battery problem or a socket problem!
thank you
Edit:
Problem solved by changing the mobile USB socket
thanks everybody
It could the the USB port issue. Remove the battery for a couple of minutes and try again. Otherwise check for dust in the USB port.

i tried removing the battery for an hour
first it woked then when this happened again i tried to remove it and but it back again but it didn't help
if there's a dust in the USB port (how can i clean it?)
Compressed air or remove the battery. Then clean it using a cleaning alcohol. Thin cloth and toothpick may be. Don't be hard on it.
How long have you been using the phone? If the USB port is going bad, the Power or Home button won't last long either. Better to backup data now.

Ive had a similar problem on my Galaxy S (9000).
Cleaning the USB port helped, tho I also cleaned my battery stats in CWM back then.
That combination did the trick.
BTW if youre going to reset your battery stats; drain the battery first and then charge it long enough to be well charged (100%); after that you should be safe to reset it.
Hello everyone.
I have a really big problem with my Xiaomi Mi3w (Cancro) and i haven’t find a solution in months.
I have an issue with the battery(?) or with the micro usb connector, sometimes i can’t charge my battery, no matter what or how, i can’t in any way.
When i connect the phone to the wall charger it doesnt charge or it even drains the battery, even if it’s off, it happened that some times when i connect the phone to the charger at 20+% battery after some hours it’s at 10%.
When the phone behaves like this and i try to connect it to the pc it can’t seem to hold the connection for more than 3-4 seconds, it continuosly connects and disconnects and it’s impossible even to open it in explorer. Obviously it’s impossible to charge even in this way.
At first i thought that it could only be a hardware problem (faulty connector/charger/cable etc)
but the last time i had this issue (today) i discovered that i can keep the connection between pc and the phone using fastboot. When i use fastboot the phone doesn’t disconnects continuosly so i can say that in 99% it’s not a connector/cable problem.
Could it be a kernel bug? I know that the kernel it’s active even when the phone is off but in charge, this could explain the charging problem even if it’s off.
Another thing that i discovered is that when the phone is on the connection to the pc gets more stable if i turn off debug mode ( can keep the usb connection on for more than 30 secs but i can’t seem to charge it anyway).
Things that i tried to solve the problem:
-Change the charger (1st charger is xiaomi’s orignal/ 2nd it’s a sony with output 5V/850 mah/ 3rd is a lg 4.8V/1A/ 4th is a generic tablet charger which came with my acer iconia with 5V/2A) none of these solved the problem.
-Change the cable (used 10 and more different cables, every cable was tested with my other devices and all were working well with my moto G and acer iconia)
-Fastboot install of both stable and developer rom
-Clean fastboot install of both roms (formatting both systems earlier with cwm)
-Install via cwm of ivan 4.4 aosp and cyano 12 (both of these uses the same leaked kernel right?)
-Cleaning connector with a neddle, soft cloth and some alcohol
I’m not sure about this other point but the phone seem to get in this not charging state when the battery gets below 30% and i keep it uncharged overnight.
So i thought that i could also be a problem related to the governor used by the phone when gets to a low battery profile and specifically when this governor tells the phone to get in deep sleep.
(this could perhaps explain the problem of both cyano and ivans roms random reboots and the workaround using partial_wake_lock)
I hope that someone can help me to solve this problem because my device is useless now
Thanks in advance to everyone
i have the same problem with my MI3W. Sometimes i can charge it while smartphone is power off.
I tried with another battery. I am waiting for a new usb connector flex to check too.
Do you find any solution?

I think i might be having the same problem. My phone started acting weird at the exact same condition. The charging connection kept going on and off. Felt like hardware issue at first. Charged my phone somehow to full charge and reset it. Looks good now but still skeptical.
Fingers crossed.

Hi i resolved the problem some time ago, cleaning the connector with a very tiny needle, i didn't go very far the first time that i cleaned it, probably it's only dirt, try cleaning it yourself and see if it resolves the problem
going fine

Hello!
A little bit after I upgraded my micro-SD card, I started getting the message "unable to charge your device. make sure you are using a samsung-compatible battery and charger..." while using an OEM battery and charger. I haven't been able to charge my phone at all and have since tried another battery, wiping my phone, and of course trying other chargers. Anybody know what is going on? Thank you for your help!
Did you try removing your SD card? Sounds like that may be the culprit... Although odd.

Before I noticed the battery wasn't charging, my phone started rebooting itself randomly and getting quite hot. Suspecting that it may be a corrupt SD card, I tried formatting it, replacing it, and removing it altogether. I'm waiting for a standalone charger to be delivered so I can get the battery level up but do you think maybe restoring with Kies could help?
Thank you!
You could try, but I don't think it will matter. About 2 months ago I was having a similar issue, phone was giving me the same error message. I think it happened after my battery went completely dead. I kept trying to charge it, and finally it charged. No issues since.

Ok, so I managed to charge the battery using a standalone charger and reflashed the phone back to stock using Samsung SmartSwitch. The phone charges intermittently but also reboots randomly...I have no idea what is going on.
Battery overheated message even it feels cool in hand
Have these strange issues:
Trying to charge my phone and I got this from the bottom screenshots.
I'm on stock 5.0.1. firmware, no root, one month old phone.
I tried everything including software reset / write firmware from ODIN, other battery, same results.
My last thought is send the phone to warranty
Even the messages worn me about battery overheated , touching with the hand I don't feel any heat.
Any idea? Thanks!
I have that issue right now. It looks like my phone got wet during Halloween and I tried to charge it. It got hot and I left overnight. In the morning it started giving me these messages. Batteries charge fine in wall chargers, but not in the phone itself. Even wireless charging produces the same message.

I pulled my case off and moved my battery around while plugged in since doing the same with the usb did nothing. I noticed it would switch from charging to the error message saying it could not charge. I then pulled the contacts out a little bit cause they were not all the same distance out. Put battery in phone and it charges.
I had this issue, which is quit disturbing... i have a trick to get it right as it worked for me... might work for you guys as well... Take your battery out and press power button for 30 sec min... Take a perfume... or siprit... pour it or spray it inside the charging port and let it dry... As it dries up you will not face the issue again... hope it helps... its the dust inside that creates problems.
Pouring anything into the charging port is probably the worst idea I have ever heard. How about first checking that the charger port connections are dirty or corroded. If it is turn the phone off before trying to clean it out. Circuit board cleaner is around 3 to 7 bucks a can and you get the version with zero residue. Or try a stick pin to gently clean it out? I've replaced a charger port on a note 3 and it was a piece of cake. I imagine the note 4 can't be too difficult.

I've had problems liken this before... from a dying battery. It is VERY frustrating. It first happened on my HTC Sensation, and it took months to figure it out. Buying a new battery has fixed charging issues, phone random reboots, phone dying even though 15 to 30% remaining, and bootloops. These were issues that have popped-up with many different phones, over the years - luckily I only buy phones with replaceable batteries - but my main and back-up batteries both went bad, this year! (BTW, it's easy to tell it's the battery when the issue only happens on one battery, and not on the other)
I recommend you buy OEM Samsung batteries on Amazon or eBay. If you use NFC, MAKE SURE your battery supports NFC - the cheapest ones don't.
Got the same issue.. My phone suddenly stopped charging and when i try to plug it again the charging icon wont show.. I left it charging again for 30min and had no luck.. then i saw this thread and got the idea..
I removed the battery, micro-sd card, stylus, phone sim and press the power button for 30 sec. (this will reset all energy stuck on the internal board.)
Then, I cleaned the usb port with a sticky note.. folded the sticky part just as it fits on the port and gently swipe it to get out the dust.. The dust makes a disturbing connection between the USB cable so it wont continue charging..
Returned the battery and all items then tried charging again. And it worked!! :victory:
Worth the try.. Good luck!
Got mine working by pulling micro usb half way out and back couple times
Before that i tried to clean port and 30s power button without battery but no changes.
Maybe dust still or something software glitch. Like day or two before installed Battery Charge Limit app and used gear vr. It gave some sort charge message and not even charging. Not sure does this nothing to do with the problem..
Update: Problem returned after battery change and after that i put some wd40/cleaned battery connectors and working again. Hopefully last..
