Hotspot shield.
Made the mistake of installing this pos junkware and now it's leaving plaguing remnants across my system.
It installed some system cleaner programme too..
So far I think it's all gone except for an annoying screen that pops up before my system fully boots (after logging in before seeing the gui).
It used to be the system cleaner, now it just shows an error message.
What I've done -
Tried uninstalling via uninstall exe.. (didn't work, obviously.)
Booted into safe mode, restored to point before install of software.
Deleted both program folders in program files (Using linux, since widoze gave me an in use error..)
unchecked startup in msconfig
Couldn't find any rogue registry entries to delete.
EDIT: Removed (uninstalled) vpn entries in network settings area...
Worried still about a possible trojan/keylogger in the mess...
Help! Thanks for any if it comes...

Yep and returns clean, the only annoyance is the startup error, I can't find what's causing that.
I'm worried that since the AVs I've tried don't pick that up there could also be a keylogger

This is on your PC, right?
If so...look for RKill on bleepingcomputer.com and download it.
Follow their instructions
Also...download Combo Fix and use it..this should stop that program from running.

Ever since I updated to FRG83D I have been having a ton of force closes with various apps like: Facebook, the market, browser. As well everything seems a lot slower like bookmarks take a bit to load and Facebook just force closes when I open a picture or freezes.
I also am not being able to unlock my phone due to the touch screen not responding or the display won't turn on at all which requires a battery pull. This occurs sometimes.
Any idea what's causing this? I'm on a fully stock ATT nexus one.

I have exactly the same issues. It's actually the first time I've experienced a "frozen" touchscreen on my N1, and it's happening regularly now.
Just hoping Gingerbread fixes it
Same here with email.apk
Constant freezes or messages that the app stopped responding and whether I want to force close.
Had a few apps that did that so I uninstalled then reinstalled. Seemed to fix it.
I don't have any problem!! I use this rooted complete stock rom FRG83D.

Just try resetting to factory default and you should be good to go! Froyo will backup all your apps so once you are back the apps will reinstall on their own. But make sure to backup app data to your SD card if the app has that kind of option (for example launcherpro, adw launcher and card star) has in app backup option. I had some sluggishness with FRG83d but now it seems smooth!

Hey guys.
I've had this issue with YouTube being unresponsive in portrait mode after going to the main menu after I've watched a video. Hasn't bothered me because I'd just go to landscape to choose the video I wanted.
Today its now gotten worse. After a random xda force close, the shortcut on the homescreen isn't working. Every other shortcut works without issue though. Deleted and re-added the shortcut isn't working. Neither is an uninstall/reinstall. Its also spread to a few other apps.
Anyone encountered this before?
Just a few details:
Overcome 1.4.3 - Hevent upgraded yet, might later to see if the issue continues.
OC 1.4ghz
Nothing strange has happened prior to these random issues (no drops, rom flashes etc)
Sent from inside a whale.
The new xda app did the same to me after it updated itself, so I went to titanium, deleted the new version, then reinstalled the old from backup. No issues since.
Youtube has always had a mind of it's own, whether it's changing orientation, or even playing. Patience is all I can suggest there.
I had a similar problem (somewhat sporadic) and after the overcome 1.6 I don't notice it any more. although it's early days
I'm having similar issues with the keyboard - regardless of the type - stock or purchased - they lag or do not rwspond and all randomly

Only thing similar I've experienced is sometimes the capacitive buttons don't respond, but it's totally random and usually gets fixed if I hit any other button (even one of the other capacitives)
Amiga, is there any chance all your cavorting with gingerbread is a cause?
Its not force closing, it doesn't respond when its in portrait, if I switch to landscape everything is fine.. Really struggling to figure this out. And I've tried going back to stock (dissabling setcpu) and it still happens.

go to settings, more, application manager, all, and clear data, then stop services for google services framework....then go into system update and update samsung software...... you may have to do that up to 10x with a few restarts in between
also you need to at least have 35% battery
works everytime for me!
if you notice after you clear data and go to system update, it shows that it last checked i 1969......this somehow resets the que and puts you in front of the line
Although this update fixed my red hues during black backgrounds, it added the purple blur/smearing thing when scrolling though quickly...at least we know its a software problem and not hardware
Ok...
I'm going to put this here as I did in the 2 other ota threads.. would someone please grab a log of the link (or grab the download prior to try to install) if they are getting propmted so we can get this to look at?

Depends on how people are getting the prompt.. Within the other thread, one of the three anyway, there was this post by a rooted user that had the fail..
This would be ideal because it should have been sitting in /cache (as we've seen on other devices) and it could simply have been pulled.
The only other option (and it will probably not be successful without root but worth a try) would be getting a logcat (running log during process), then forcing the prompt by clearing framework in hopes of catching the download link when the prompt arrives and tapping it. Pull log, inpect it for link and go and get it manually.

Another possible method of grabbing files on a non rooted phone is airdroid app. Connect with PC, choose files folder. By default it will go to the SD card but you can back up and get to the phone's system files after a warning screen. If the theory works, just start poking around the file system until you find the update and download it to the computer. You can't edit anything with airdroid but you can grab files at least if you're not rooted. I've never tried this but did see it show the phone's internal files when trying to get to external storage when the default go to folder was internal storage.
Got my update, turned off dev mode, force stopped google services framework, and cleared data.
So much smoother

On both my Nexus 4 & Nexus 7 running latest factory Jellybean I have noticed that whenever I update an app using the Google play store I get a little popup message saying 'Internal Storage Left' and then a number that is only a couple of MB.
Both my devices have quite a few GB free so I am wondering what this means, where it is coming from and how to stop it.
Cheers

Curiously I did notice this morning that the amount of memory displayed per app is consistent on both my devices. That is to say that updating the Ebay app on my Nexus 4 gave the popup of 'Internal Storage Left 1.13MB', updating the same app on my Nexus 7 gave exactly the same message.
The same happens to me... Nexus 7 2013

You all know apps install on the system partition I believe..? Not their data...but the apps themselves. If the system partition fills up, no more apps....no matter how much internal sd space you have left.
Correct me if I'm wrong??
Not saying this is the issue at hand....just wanted to point out the proper place to look at space available.

I got also that message this morning and I have 4G+, a play store bug?
There are reports in many android related forums about this, the general consensus is it's a Google bug with one of it's services.
It happened on my HTC, I actually did a soft reset (shutdown and battery pull) thinking something was crashing out and I have not seen it happen again since.
Pressing and holding the power button on the Nexus 7 for 10 seconds will trigger a soft reset as well.
It started appearing on my GNex and n7, seems like it's on my mum's n4 too.

I just started seeing this on my 2012 and 2013 Nexus 7 devices. Anytime I install something from the market I get this message. It is telling my I have like 2MB free. There is at least 10GB free so I'm not sure what is up.
I've noticed this message appear today when i've tried to install some apps on my N4. So i uninstalled the most likely ones that could potentially interfere with the system and reinstalled them one by one and on my N4 it seems that ES File Explorer File Manager is the guilty app. I can still install apps but i get a pop up with the low storage alert every time i install anything. There's 12GB spare space on my phone as well.
Interesting.. I have that installed too. I'll uninstall to see what happens. Thank for the info.

ES File Explorer was updated today so hopefully it may resolve the issue. I have also contacted the developer and given them this URL to see whether or not they can identify if it is the cause.
Pretty sure that they added something in, all they need to do is reverse the code change.

Good call, mate. This was irritating me from a knowledge standpoint. I'm okay to keep ES installed until this silliness is patched, (their file-explorer is that good..imo) I just wanted to know where it was coming from.
I did uninstall it just to test, and I no longer received the messages either. So this is basically settled. I'll email the developers about the problem, just as Baz8755 already has, and I'm sure it'll be fixed in no time. Everyone doesn't need to get a new file explorer--unless they really want to, of course.
Anyway, thanks again DodgyDave100. You're not quite so dodgy, are you?
And here I just figured the new Market app was doing it. Well hopefully ES fixes it. It is a bit annoying.
You can turn it off
Es file manager is definitely the culprit. If you go to settings>display and uncheck the box for Show space low warning you will disable the popup. I assume it's showing it when you use more than half of your internal memory.
I keep getting a low memory window when I try uploading pictures there a cache cleaner I use but thats not working what do I do ??
Install DiskUsage from the play store. It will show you what is using most of the space on your phone and you can you can then use the "My Files" app to remove what you want. Also get an external memory card you can put on a keychain which you can plug into both your phone and a USB port on a PC/Mac to copy files around that you want to keep. Also having "just enough" free space is not enough. Your phone will be a lot faster if there is plenty of free space available on your phone. Uninstall apps you don't use.

Just re-bloat and let is know if the problem goes away first. If it does, then re-debloat only one thing at a time until the problem recurs. Then you will know what had to stay running (not be debloated) to fix the isue. It's not rocket science but it is tedious and you just need to stick with the process and be patient.
Really

Why would we look through your list? Undo it, reboot, and see if it still happens. If it doesn't then redo it slower and figure out which one breaks it.
If it does still happen after undoing the debloat and rebooting, then your phone is screwed as it doesn't happen to anyone else. Factory reset.
