My home button stopped working after i installed armorsuit screen protector. i suspect some of the cleaning solution seeped into through the home button. The phone still works fine. i just need to use the back arrow to go back to home. I would like to repair this but i am not sure if the board is part of the usb charging board? has anyone had this issue? maybe that can give me an insight. thanks
Its not a part of the USB/ Charging module. Its a part on the front panel behind the screen... check this video for better clarity

Have you done the exchange before? Does not look that hard as long as you have patience.
Not the home button.

after looking at the video, It looks to me the USB/Charging module contains the micro switch that the home button actually pushes on. The button itself on my phone works, it is just not turning to the home page.
I don't think the usb module has the home button because I have the replaced part with me and nothing is there. So it has to be on the panel.

Hey,
i have an issue with my home Button. Whenever i click it there is this awful sound! Even when i only click it slightly without activating the button it still makes the sound. After a while its just getting more and more annoying.
My hypothesis:
A small piece of sand got inbetween the home Button and the part below it, making it rub against the sand and thus creating the noise.
My solution:
I would like to lift of the home button to try and remove the sand.
My problem:
I don't know how to do it without causing any damage to the phone or making it possible so the home Button will stay put after the operation.
My help:
A video of the supposed noise

Id be glad to accept any help to solving this problem

You can try and disassemble your note using some tutorials from internet, and clean it with compressed air. Then assemble it again.

hello, got the same issue with the home button and, bonus, with the volume one. My solution was to press the, and blow as strong as my lungs allowed . Now i have a smooth-pressing home button ;-)
my home button also makes a quite loud click when I press it. It is not that loud as in the video but it is still annoying. I wonder if every note make such noise...
I had a similar problem. I discovered that the problem was a small layer of cover right on the button. After I carefully remove it from button horrible sounds disappeared.
I like it :d
I've had exactly the same problem. Blowing hard into the button only solves the problem momentarily, it will come back again.
What you need to do is to use a toothbrush with fine bristles, turn your phone upside down and gently brush around the button, making sure the bristles get into the little slots between the phone and the buttons.
Got this solution from an iPhone forum, can't remember where though.
On the HTC one the home and back button does not come on all the time. When i turn the phone on should those the home and back button light up right away??? mine don't. If im in the dark they sometimes come on, not all the time. Just trying to figure out how those 2 buttons are suppose to work.
thanks
steve
They are triggered by (a lack of) ambient light via the light sensor.
Mine come on as soon as i press the power button and turn off soon as i press of

Mine light up when not needed and refuse to shine in the dark. So far I've not been worried about it; thumb finds the right place most of the time

The light sensors on the front top left determine when to turn it off or on. cover them with your finger and the home and back should light up. If not - the light sensors are not working. I've noticed that very little light will trigger these things. even the light from the lcd will be enough light to not allow the home and back keys to light up especially in the dark... Hopefully there will be a tweak forth coming.

My sensors must be faulty then as mine don't come on when I put my fingers over the sensor?

do you have a screen protector on? try taking it off and see
I have been having problems lately with my HP touchpad on CM9. They are as follow: the touchscreen goes crazy and does all sorts of random typing and button pressing. At one point I could not use it so I webOS doctored it up and then flashed CM10. So far it fixed the issue but now my corner "back" button only works when you press it on the side closest to the middle. Some other buttons are like this or do not work completely in apps. I don't think it could be a hardware issue as I have always been careful with all of my devices. Thanks in advance!
Can you completely rule out hardware issues by testing your screen using a drawing app?

I will try that now.
Update: Ok please try to work with this: In landscape look at the arrow, the width of the arrow, that entire section is not working from bottom to top. You have to almost tap on the very right edge of the back arrow. I still do not think it is hardware.
Bump, please help
I'm on CM w/android 4.2.2 and have similar screen issues... screen sometimes goes a static non-moving "fuzzy" blue... not sire if ther is any pattern to it or not, but reboot fixes it for a while.
lately I've noticed that ill get artafacts... fpr example todays google doodle viewed using stock android browser app will often produce black a d white horizontal artafacts. perhaps driver issues?

You don't say what Rom you are using but it certainly works on Jcsullins latest.
Evervolv but now i am thinking its an lcd digitzer screen problem cause nothing in that area works regardless of the rom. I never dropped the device so i am not sure why just a section of the lcd screen would stop responding..
Hi all. I need your assistance with my HTC one M7. It is running andriod version 4.3, htc sense 5.5, software number 3.62.531.1, htc sdk api level 5.65.
The problem i have is that the section of the screen just below the small icons at the very top ( battery status , wifi, signal, etc..) does not appear to be working when the phone is vertical. I can pull down the menu and all other parts of the screen work ok. When i turn the phone horizontal all section of the screen works perfectly...even those that do not work when the phone is vertical. The only app that seems to work full vertical is the camera...i have access to all buttons.
In vertical position when i open any of my web browsers i am unable to type in the URL...when i hit that section of the screen nothing happens. If i turn the phone horizontal it works! This is basically happening to all my apps. That little section of screen just not working. I though the phone may have been physically damaged but the camera works ok....i am able to use all buttons in vertical position. I tried resetting the touch calibration that did not help.
Please let me know if you can help me with this.

dial *#*#3424#*#* and do the touch screen test (line drawing test) If you can see that a part of the screen isn't responsive then its a bad digitizer and will need to be replaced.
Hi. Thanks much for the tip. I did the test and that part of the screen did not work. I guess its a physical issue. Do you know if it can be fixed or is the phone gone for good? If it can be fixed does it make sense to try to fix it or just replace the phone? I appreciate your advice.

Best Buy was clearing out their M7 stock for $149 .. their all over ebay now under $200 ..that should be cheaper than a screen replacement unless you still have a warranty
Thanks much.

Don't replace the home button: It's a common problem of the Mi5 to have the fingerprint scanner (and capacitive touch) of the home button stop working after a while.
All you have to do is remove the back glass, the plastic cover over the bottom PCB, and unplug and replug the ribbon cable of the home button (located near the top centre of the pcb). Reboot and everything should work fine. I've done this yesterday, the second time since I got the Mi5 a year ago.
