Official xperia dock work with a case?

Quick question, does anyone with the Xperia dock know if the phone still fits with a case ?
(A thin case like the Nearly There case or the Nillkin hard case)

I remember seeing one video on youtube where they did put XZ with a case on dock - it needed a firm push, but went in without a problem so you'll be able to find a case that will work with official dock.

thats good to know! Krusell FrostCover seems to be the thinnest i have found so far

got a K frost and it does not fit in the dock properly.
Almost, so you will have to:
- cut the case for pins to make contact
- enlarge the dock just a bit with dremel
& hopefully the pins are aligned
Anyway cover is no pain to remove, an you can let it hang with lanyard while phones docked.

Is it possible to customize the case or the dock to fit this case. I'm not against using a dremmel to adapt the dock to fit but will find out more once that case arrives. I have two other cases both way to big.

It is a shame to use a case on a device as beautiful and durable as the Xperia Z.

True enough, but in my opinion they never look good, and it makes the phone more difficult to put in or get out of your pocket. Add that to me very rarely dropping my phone and it just isn't worth it for me.

Is there any cases where i can still dock / charge my tablet?

Does anyone know any specific cases that you can keep on while being able to use the sony dock / charger.
From reviews on amazon of the charger, it seems most cases dont allow the tablet to fit on the charger and have to be taken out of the case for it to work, even son'y own official charger, which is strange.

Sony's official case (the one that seems to be made of pure gold according to it's price) DOES (!) allow the tablet being charged inside the case. You just need to open the case, but you don't have to fumble out the Z2.

I don't have the dock, but I have a magnetic charging cable.
I can charge using the cable without removing the tablet from the case.

It just arrived (from the same seller) and i think it's perfect. ^^ rubber on the bottom, small blue power led, phone fits in nicely.. for that money, really great product..

No. I was using a case from Head Case Designs, which is the same, I guess, and it unfortunately won't fit in..

I have used that one since last fall. Have three of them, home, office and car. Works just great!

Magnetic charging dock

Just received my charging dock... But forgot that was going to use a cover so, just to inform that you have to remove the cover every time to charge it or you can try to slowly put the phone in some weird position in order to charge the phone.

I did my homework soon after my Z3 arrived.
Previous phone I always used and highly rate the case mate tough series so gone again this time around.

This one has space to allow you to pop in to magnetic dock so hoping it'll work.

I have the charging dock for Z2, will it work with Z3?

I'm really considering getting this phone. Coming from a nexus 5. I don't know if I should get this or wait for the nexus X lol. How are you liking the phone?

It works but Z3 is thinner so it can tilt and disconnect easily, less than ideal.

Have you tried pulling the insert out?
I purchased a cheap hard shell case from eBay to protect the phone while I'm waiting for a decent case to come on the market although for £1.95 this case was pretty good quality. The phone with the case on would not charge or fit with any of the inserts provided with the DK48 Magnetic Charging Dock. I removed the insert, added some foam padding,and trimmed the case slightly which allowed the phone to sit in the dock and charge. It works great

Any impressions for the magnector charging adaptor?

I had an older version of their product (which was a cable, not an adaptor) for my old nexus 10. It was a great cable, very strong magnetic attachment and worked flawlessly. I was very happy with their quality so I decided to look for another one for this tablet. It seems they got this new adaptor now, that looks very interesting, but the price is kinda big.
I bought a z1 cable for less then 5$ which does the job, but the magnet isn't very strong and not very fixed either, I mean the pins sometimes lose contact even tho the cable is still attached magnetically.
So 12 pounds + around 6 for shipping, seems a bit too much.
I was wondering if anyone tried this product?

I am also interest in someone's experience with this. Does it support 2 amperage? Amazon.de shows a couple of variants. That WHSKEN cable looks solid

Got the Sony's one. The magnet was so loose. After it "snapped" I then place my tablet on the desk, the magnet fells off 90 degree (because the wire was "touch" by the desk).
Hard to precisely aim so that it actually charge. Most of the time it snapped by doesn't charge.
Back to USB cable for now even though the flap starting to loose...

I am using this one and it is good, i also have an original cable from the z1 compact dock, which does have a weaker magnet.

I'm using my DK31 for my z1, z3 compact and z3 compact tablet. For the tablet I have a card on the back to hold it secure. It works fine for all 3 of my devices.

Be careful with magnectors very strong magnets. They can easily pull off the magnetic port no matter how careful you are. Already pulled out my z3 and tab z3 magnetic port. Better use the dock or the cable from sony.

Could you provide a reference?

The magnetic connectors don't work as good as they do on the Z3 phone. The tab is too large and they easily fall off. Easier to use a dock.

Only recently found this thread as I am a new X3c Tablet owner.
I have a variant of this cable, the New Magnector X2 which uses the same magnets, but is an adapter for any other MicroUSB cable... This product pulled the magnetic pogo pin mount right out of my old z3c phone, so try the break the connection sideways instead of pulling straight off
