Since Google is moving photos to G+ and away from Picasa, I am able to view all of my "Picasa" albums if I use the "G+ Photos" icon but the standard Gallery icon shows only Camera as an option. None of my albums or "Auto Backup" is there.
The issue with this, for me, is if I take a photo on another of my Android devices and then try to post the photo from the X, I can choose to take a photo or the gallery, that's it. Effectively, I can't post a photo to, say, Facebook unless it was taken with the Moto X. Within "G+ Photos" you can easily post the Google +, but that's it; not Twitter or FB.
I loaded ROM after ROM on my GNex and the gallery always showed my images, not with the X. Yes, sync is turned on.
Thoughts?
This is the way Google is doing things now. For using photos across multiple devices I use dropbox camera upload. I can take a picture on my phone then pull it from drop box to edit it with snapseed on my Nexus 7.
I flashed the S4 camera and now in gallery I see my back up photos, so If you want that feature you will have to use an older gallery app

I downloaded a picture to be my wallpaper and it didn't show in the gallery until I rebooted.
Punit Soni, Motorola Moto X Product Manager, posted in a Google+ Q&A today (well, technically yesterday) that a fix for the galley sync is coming very soon. It is a bug for right now that'll be fixed.

When is there going to be either:
An official Picasa app
Or a legitimate 3rd party app
This is Google after all, strange that one of their premier (imo) apps simply doesn't exist on a Google phone.

I agree... it should include Geo-Taggin as well! i mean its on the phone on Hero rom so why not include in app like FootPrints have?
When the G1 first came out a company called Multiple Facets released an app called Pictorial that connected to your Picasa Web account. It looks like this app was retired as I can not find an updated version anymore, luckily I kept this app when I made a backup using AppManager. You would have to log in to your Picasa account and you would be able to see all of your web albums and albums of friends. You could download pictures as well. It's not the most beautiful app but still works well on 1.5. I've included it in this post as an attachment. Hope this helps and is what you're looking for.

you can upload to picasaweb natively from the gallery. Do you want a full image editor?

I've been looking for that. I had it at first and then lost it during an early wipe. Big Thanks!
no problem...i emailed multiple facets and received the following reply.
Hi,
We will consider the possibility.

Hello,
You used to have an app named Pictorial for the Android platform that
is no longer available on the Android Market. Are you ever planning
on re-releasing it? Pictorial is the best way to view Picasa web
albums and would love to see an updated version.

The problem I have is viewing, not uploading. I've got a new baby and my wife loves Picasa for managing the picture and uploading them. The problem is that the web interfiace for Picasa on the G1, at least last I checked, will only show the first 100 pictures in an album. This will show them all.
Pictorial will show all pictures sorted by gallery. I have 4 galleries on my Picasa account and my fiancee has 6 galleries under hers and I can view them all with Pictorial. You can also download and save pictures.
Hi, my mom just got an HTC first, which is running stock android 4.1.2. Everything is working great, except that instant upload is not syncing back to her stock photo gallery. She has Google+ installed and instant upload turned on, and that is all working perfectly. She has a nexus 7 running Android 4.2.2 and the photos she takes on her phone are syncing to her tablet perfectly, but they are not syncing back to her phone. Everything in her Google account is set to sync. I have Force stopped/Cleared Data and cache in the gallery app, but nothing I do gets is to work. I even had her add my dads google account to her phone (set only to sync Google photos), hoping that would force something to work, but his photos are not syncing to her phone either. Please help. I just finally got her to get an android phone because of all the awesome features it has, (Instant upload/Gallery sync being one of them), and it stinks that one of the best features is not working.I know she can access the photos through Google+, but its so much more convenient to have them in your gallery. Thank you for your help...
Does anyone else have this issue? Got my wife the same phone, and the issue is the same. Even if you don't have a solution, please reply with a, "yes I have the issue", or "no, it works for me.” I'd appreciate it.

Same thing here. I just bought the HTC First primarily for the stock android, and now the gallery app doesn't work with Google Photos...
It's weird that it is definitely connected to Picasa, as it can upload pictures to albums.
New stock app fixes this issue
The updated 4.3 Gallery/Camera stock app which was just leaked fixes this issue. It will now properly sync with Google Photos and display all your albums. The camera app is also spiffier as a nice bonus! :good:

Yeah, haven't had time to update, but... What he said! Δ I installed with no problems at all.

[Q] Camera uses "Photos" as default viewer -- I want to use "Gallery"
I thought I would like using the new "photos" app that is provided on the Moto X. It has nice editing functions and it also uploads photos to Google for me as a backup.
However, I am not happy with it -- reviewing photos doesn't work because it makes the photos very dim, and there are other issues with it making me want to go back to Gallery as the app that the Camera will use when I review photos I've just taken.
Problem is, I can't find the "Photos" app listed in Settings -> Apps anywhere. I've checked everywhere. So I can't clear the defaults. I've even downloaded a default app settings app, and Photos doesn't show up in there, either. It says Gallery is still my default app, so I cleared that default. Still, when I take a pic and the slide to the left to review it, Photos is the app that shows my image.
Anyone have any ideas how to undo my selection of it as the default viewer app from the Camera?
Thanks!
I think the "Photos" gallery is part of Google+.
Maybe you can uninstall updates and then freeze that app to force it to reset to the gallery that is tied to the Camera app?

Photos is part of google+, so you'll need to clear the defaults for all of the apps tied to it.

Hi Nexus 6 users. Can any of you tell me which gallery app you guys have on your nexus. Also, do you guys have "My files" app as shown in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8TXgCzxEnw
I use the stock Gallery app for most of the things I need, I rarely use Google+ Photos because it always shows the most recent upon opening rather than having individual folders set up for Camera, Screenshots, downloads, cloud backups, etc which I prefer using.
Hearing that the Nexus 6 is going to use G+ Photos by default as the Gallery I have been eyeing "Quickpic" since it emulates the stock Gallery plus a few more features. Plus they have a beta version out now that they are implementing Material Design which is a plus since I was originally going to just consider backing up and restoring the stock Gallery apk from my Nexus 4 over to my Nexus 6.
Keep an eye on QuickPic I say, wait for their stable Material Design update which will be soon and install it, otherwise just backup your Gallery APK and install it over onto the Nexus 6.

The Gallery app can make an easy to moderate using Files set up. Gallery app function can add and install in limited time period for desktop or mobile applications.

On stock, is anyone else finding that the "Settings" menu item doesn't work on either this gallery app or the stock "Photos" app:
- On the gallery app I just get a black screen
- On the Photos app it just closes the menu
Weird

Old and dead thread, but since this guy above brought it back to life, I might as well add a bit;
https://android.googlesource.com/pl...droid/gallery3d/settings/GallerySettings.java
Probably the reason the settings activity is blank, is because it is actually an empty file.
*** https://android.googlesource.com/pl...y2/+/deb5910808d7363ca73b44804d89e5b430c03fcb
The code for the settings menu was removed during transition from gallery3d to gallery2 back in 2011.
If you look at the settings.xml file, you can see that the only options you were actually provided with were bogus anyway.

Not knowing where that came from, I certainly wouldn't install it on my phone.
So I forked the source myself, fixed it to build as a standalone with NDK, and posted the source to my github:
https://github.com/lbdroid/android_packages_apps_Gallery2
I did add a binary to the build/ directory of the project, but I still recommend compiling it yourself.
Edit: I just pushed a patch and new build that have the Settings activity stripped out of it. No more annoying people with empty activities.
So far I have found QuickPic is the best!

when I have Google plus installed it won't let me make quick pic by default
Alternatively you can try this apk as well - http://www.mediafire.com/file/jgx38z0gdfa7qox/Moto_Gallery.apk
Thread necro, but not my doing. Anyway try this. Material Design Gallery (Flashable)
So I used the NFC tap feature to migrate the data, apps, etc from my N5 to the N6. I noticed that in Lollipop Google has done away with the gallery app in favor of the Photos app (It was a move we all know was coming). The thing is, I have never and don't like the idea of having Photos automatically backup my photos to the cloud so I have always had that feature disabled. Now, I am trying to get all my photos from the Gallery to my N6 but am not able to beam it or otherwise sync it with my google account.
Anyone else having this issue? Am i going to have to use like Airdroid or manually drag my albums from my N5 to my mac and then on to the N6?
Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks!
If you don't want to turn on the g+ sync you are going to need to save them to your computer and then transfer back. The tap and go just transfers over settings not files.
I really dislike the Google Photos app. Google needs to realize that some people would have just like an updated Gallery app with move function. I hated it when they did the same thing with Google Music.
I use Quickpic and everything works fine.

I agree - I really like the gallery app because I feel that the Photos app sucks at organizing photos into albums and such unlike gallery. But, that could also just be due to my lack time dedicated to the photos app.
I will check out Quickpic, thanks for the suggestion!
