Hi, my dad will be buying a HTC One from Vodafone and as all networks do they come with a network CID. I know when people change their CID it seems it is always a super CID, but is it fine to change it to a CID like HTC_001?

In order to change the CID you will have to first s-off the device and that will not be possible if it comes with h-boot 1.54 which is likely.
If however it comes with h-boot 1.44 then s-off will be possible and you will be able to change the CID to whatever valid ID to suit.
Yeah i know about the S-OFF bit, and i guess the 4.2.2 ruined the S-OFF trick :/ My One X although unbranded which is nice can't be S-OFFed
Thanks for your answer

anyway a couple of questions:
1 - im s-off on hboot 1.54 with supercid and im currently unlocked but want to go back to stock for a while? do i need to change my cid to run an RUU? if so why?
2 - even tho my phone is and int version can i actually make it a dev edition?
i know they may sound noobish questions and i have read threads and im a bit confused with a few things. we only ever had s-on the one x so this is slightly new to me

you can install any RUU with super cid. but if you want to update your device ota after the ruu, you will need to change cid for one that match the region of the ruu. i.e if you run a .401 ruu with super cid, it will install fine but after you need to change cid to HTC__001 for OTA.
edit: same for dev edition, just run a dev edition ruu with your supercid and after installation, change cid for one that match dev edition for ota.
Greetings to all,
I have htc one m7_ul, hboot 1.54 s-on, mid PN07100, cid VODAP102
As you understand all the phone unfortunately is vodafone branding with the annoying vodafone boot logo and other silly vodafone aps.So... i want to ask the community if and how i can unbrand the phone from vodafone an be complete htc stock with latest official htc firmware.
Thanks in advance

Brief description: Well if you completely want to modify your phone, you'll need to use rumrunner to get S-Off (that includes unlocking the phone, and other prerequisites for rumrunner)
Once you're S-Off you can change your CID to something more universal such as HTC__001 and use a full RUU (exe) to downgrade to complete WWE stock, and start receiving OTAs to the latest available (depending on which CID and RUU you end up using).
Thanks for your respond

Once you have s-off, you can remove TAMPERED using revone or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2477792
and you can even LOCK (as opposed to RELOCKED) using revone or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2475914
and once you run the official RUU (exe) even the red text "this is a development device bla bla bla" should go away.
Originally a Tmobile HTC One
Currently:
S-Off
HBoot 1.54
unlocked bootloader
Stock GPE 4.4.2
I have AT&T and want sense 6, but I don't want the AT&T or Tmobile garbage that comes with it. Am I ok to change MID & CID to unlocked or dev and flash a vanilla RUU?
I tried searching for the answer, but wound up more confused. Just wanted to confirm this was ok. Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can if you want to:
MID change tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2535365
CID change using: fastboot oem writecid HTC__001 <- or whatever CID you choose, but exactly 8 characters
do NOT go S-On
or just use a custom ROM
but do NOT go S-On

+1 .. @nkk71 is ABSOLUTELY right about staying S-Off.
Hi guys, does anyone know which is the CID number for the Unlocked Edition?.
I bought it in the US from the htc website and it was the one who had 32GB and shipped sim unlocked but with locked bootloader.
I would greatly appreciate if anyone has the CID number or if they can look up in their phone please. I set my cid to supercid and I don't recall the original one lol but I want to go back to stock and I am not sure which RUU to use. I am not sure if it is the same RUU as the developer edition and I want to have the right system for warranty purposes.
That would be BS_US001 x.x.1540.x

You need s-off to change CID and also need to know how to use fastboot commands.
very simple procedure after that, one simple command of "fastboot oem wite cid HTC__001"
HTC__001 is WWE edition, and cid number is always 8 character long, so HTC__001 has 2 underscores to make up the 8 character, BS_US001 is developer edition and only has 1 underscore to make up the 8 characters etc etc, always capital letters too.
Those are the 2 most popular CID's unless your on an AT&T phone with a T-Mo sim or Vise versa.

download an app called sunshine s-off onto your phone, not sure if you can get it from playstore, but just navigate to this link on your phone: http://theroot.ninja/
install the app once downloaded on your phone and then open it, it will run some tests, if it can s-off your phone then you have to pay $25 through paypal, if it cant s-off your phone then it will let you know why, your phone will reboot a couple of times, you will then have a free phone to do whatever you like with it.
after s-off, you can flash any RUU or firmware you like for your version of the M7 OTA's will be a thing of the past.
