[Q] MHL Support? - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Yes, I've tried to search it in the actually stock-based ROM page as well as Xperia Z General page, but couldn't find anything specific on it. Anyways, is MHL supported on Xperia Z 10.1.A.434 monxdified essential rom? I have purchased an MHL adaptor but my phone doesn't recognize it. Can someone confirm? Thanks.

The Z does support MHL. I did find that my ZL (stock .244) required an MHL adapter that has a port for your usb charger, like: http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...10833&cs_id=1083314&p_id=10022&seq=1&format=2
I tried a cable that didn't have any input for a usb charger and it didn't recognize it at all.

I have purchased Original Sony MHL Cable (DLC-MB20D) from eBay.com and i am using it to connect my Xperia Z - C6602 [10.3.1.A.0.244] with my Sony Bravia KDL-46EX720 and Sony BDV E980 BluRay Home Theatre System. My phone is working fine while connected to either of the devices.

Thanks for your reply. I already knew how to set up MHL Adapter to work with my phone. It was working pretty well on GB, but not on ICS.
And when I say "signal", I'm talking about signal on TV, not GSM signal. I mean, my TV receives no signal from the phone, so it does not display anything.
Thanks. I just wanna know if any ICS Rom has MHL support.
I'll try on aosp rom and report back

Does wifi or data need be off? Shouldn't .
Also I know my TV has 2 separate HDMI inputs for different devices and I tried both to no avail. It detected hml but wasn't getting an input? Shouldn't it mirror home screen or does video have to be playing?

Works on chinese leaked ics too...

It should mirror the screen. There are some apps like Youtube which are able to show the video at the tv and the video including controls at the mobile.
Must be the rom as all our ics roms share the cf repack kernal

When i plug my phone to the tv, nothing happens ! Black sceen on tv...nothing special on the phone.
This cable seems to be compatible with an Xperia T, so what's the problem in your opinion ?
Do i need a specific application ?
Thanks by advance for your advices.

It looks like the usb part of the cable needs to be stuck into any usb port to draw power for the mhl cable.
Should work if I not mistaken there a certain order in which to plug them in an I believe it's hdmi to the tv power to mhl then micro usb to phone anyway give it a shot

Doesnt make a difference with my mhl cable, long as it has power via the short USB port that's connected it will work fine.

Yes, it's the same. The L36x codename was used when rumours of this phone started to surface. It was later changed to C6603/C6602/SO-02E during the official announcement. So they all have the same dimensions.
AFAIK it is the same. I think it's the japanese version, it has IR blaster on the back - and that's probably the only difference ( or a prototype coding ) Wouldn't expect the body to differ - but doesn't hurt to ask the seller.
Sony Logo Placement
I think Xperia Z SO-02E has SONY logo at bottom.
and international version C6603 as logo at top.
Below is a image of SO-02E.

RE: LCD/digitizer Xperia Z Compatibility
Are most of the parts the same? I mean I have a Xperia X C6616 and needing to replace the LCD/digitizer. I'm just wondering if the other LCDs/digitizer from different model of Xperia Z are compatible to each other or are they all the same? Can someone clarify this.....
Thanks.
Xperia Body types
Hi guys
This may seem like a stupid question. I have recently got into the business of repairing phone screens.
I want to fix a Sony Xperia Z screen, however I do not know how to tell what body type it is (l36h, ect).
I'd like to know how do I tell which is which. I want to order parts but I want to be sure that I am buying the right one.
Please help.
Thanks
Modise
Hi Modise,
In case the display and the digitizer work then you can get the model number from the service menu:
Start dialer and press *#*#service#*#*
link
In case you cannot use service menu then try to use flashtool, it displays the phone type it is connected to.

Japan Xperia Z hole next to camera

in the japanese version of the Xperia Z there seems to be a somehting next to the camera lens, perhaps a hole is not the right description, but the "hole" looks similar to the proximity sensors on the front of the phone.
does anyone know what this is for? it doesn't seem to be in the international version of the XZ

god i wish the international versions had an IR blaster
Likewise
But we'll see what the ' Sony One' smartphone brings

The International ZL has the IR sensor.. but Z doesn't..
Good to see that Xperia Z (japan) has IR sensor.. though it's not something which we use everyday..
I've read that ZL has default apps which uses infrared which can be used as universal remote...
Just told nonsense.
Well i bought the NTTDocomo version of the Xperia Z..
1. Screen black is almost same as my brothers Xperia Z from uk BUT whites in NTT Z is much better form the uk one.
2. The IR is only to transfer files and there is no app or any endication in the menu that u can use it to control ur tv etc, i tried and installed an app from google play but failed ... Maybe in coming update they will add it ? dono !!
Nttdocomo xs
Here is a photo
Xperia Z NTTD.
Japanese people have been using infrared to send small data such as contacts for such a long time and is always most popular way. That's why you will see most of japanese phones have IR. HTC Butterfly (Droid DNA) in Japan also has IR.

Does Realme X2 Pro Support HDMI Out

Hi There,
Wanting to know if the Realme X2 Pro supports Video Output through the use of a USB-C to HDMI adapter.
Thanks
I just tested it, and it does not work.
From what I understand, it has USB 3.0 and not 3.1 needed for HDMI out.

It does say it had hdcp tho, weird if it doesn't support hdmi when hdcp is a hdmi protocol?
And here it states it has usb 2.0 usb-c.

I bought one from marktplaats, a Dutch platform where you can buy used products. I use a HP traveldock. It is sadly very bad, as it mirrors your screen and it has an awfull screen ratio. You will have really big black bars on your monitor, giant! Sorry for my late response, but I hope I helped
could you please share url for that specific display link product ?
